I had ordered a custom Hennessy cake for my friend's birthday. They do ask you to provide a sample photo for the order. The baker did a fantastic job creating this cake! It looks absolutely amazing!! Definitely exceeded all expectations. It was a peanut butter frosting and chocolate cake combo. And the taste was just as good if not better. It was the right amount of frosting and sweetness and tasted delicious. The staff is also extremely friendly! The baker David personally came to chat with me and get feedback on the design of the cake. It is also reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this place!

Sugarsweet offers cupcakes, cookies, and custom cakes for all your celebratory needs! You can depend on them for classic flavors, but also try their blueberry white chocolate (with actual fruit!) or chocolate oatmeal cookies (both the perfect chewiness with ever-so-slightly crispy edges, $1.75 each), or their soft and fluffy cupcakes (my kid was partial to their strawberry, $3). Owner Pastry Chef David Benton is self-taught and originally began Sugarsweet out of his duplex kitchen in East Oakland.

I’ve been searching for a great bakery ever since the one I’ve been using since I was a child shut down in the pandemic. This place is really, really good. We ordered my daughter’s birthday cake and two dozen cupcakes and I think at least 8 people asked me where is was from they liked it so much. Five flavors of cupcakes and the cake itself were all so good. The lemon cupcake was especially delicious. I LOVE buttercream frosting and this is up there with the best I’ve ever had. You can tell how fresh all the ingredients are, old school baking in the best sense possible. The ordering system was really easy. I filled out the online form, David got back to me super fast and sent me three pictures for inspiration/options to match our custom cake theme and the only problem was it was hard to choose which one we liked best they were all so pretty. I paid the invoice online once we’d finalized the order and it couldn’t have been simpler. We loved the cake when we picked it up, so pretty (plus then delicious once we ate it). Excited I’ve found the go to place for all future birthdays and cake needs for our family. Love their story too!

This place is amazing! We ordered their red velvet cake for our daughters 2nd birthday. Everyone loved how delicious the cake was, asking us where it was made. We really loved the quality of the food, the service and supporting a black owned business. We will definitely be recommending Sugarsweet to friends and awaiting a reason to order from them again. I ordered a 3 layered cake for my daughter's birthday. The presentation is good, my daughter is quite pleased with the color and design, however some missing details and the cake is dry.

My MIL and I are hosting a virtual baby shower during Covid19 and wanted to include something sweet that would ship well for our guests to enjoy while participating by video chat. Our initial baker fell through last minute due to a family emergency and Sugarsweet responded to our desperate midnight email for custom cookies early that next morning! They whipped up these sweeties within days (Royal icing takes a day or two to harden!) and had them ready for us to ship! Exceeded our expectations: had a super enthusiastic door distanced greeting, they look so sweet (just look at them!), packaged perfectly, and taste AMAZING (treats for the party planners!)! We wrapped them up and are shipping them off tomorrow confident they’ll be unwrapped and devoured in three corners of the US come Sunday! THANK YOU SUGARSWEET! You saved our party and you saved my MIL’s sanity! Getting to send her pregnant daughter and family something extra special during this time when we can’t gather and hug, made things so much easier. We appreciate you!

This place is on top. The cupcakes were a huge hit, the cake was gorgeous and delectable and the cookies brightened my little girls world.

The verdict is still out however I did order a cake that's going to be picked up on the 8th I ordered from them because their website shows beautiful CUSTOM cakes. I don't think the taste and quality will disappoint either. I ordered online and I do want to say the person who dealt with me. I think his name was David was extremely kind and patient because I knew nothing about this process. I can't wait to meet him and tip them for this
