Wagyu Sukiyaki Kyoto Chikarayama Shijo Kawaramachi Store

We came for lunch and it’s pretty quiet. All the staff super friendly and all the courses are really nicely prepared and super tasty! Sukiyaki is one of the things I want to try the most. I am able to get a reservation one day ahead. Three courses are prepped different and it’s a really fun experience. Will def come back again and if we are back in Kyoto.

My experience at Chikarayama was truly unforgettable! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the sukiyaki wagyu beef. The meat was tender, juicy, and melted in my mouth. The broth was rich and flavorful but not too salty, perfectly balanced with fresh vegetables and eggs. Every bite was a delight, and my whole family really enjoyed this amazing feast. What impressed me even more was their excellent service! I want to especially thank Sana and another staff member whose name I didn’t catch. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, always serving with a smile. Even though I don’t speak Japanese, they patiently introduced the dishes to us, taught us how to properly enjoy the sukiyaki, and even helped us take this beautiful photo as a memory. Their warm hospitality made us feel as comfortable as if we were at home. I am truly grateful for their kindness and thoughtful service. Not only did we enjoy great food, but we also left with wonderful memories. I hope to come back again to taste the delicious food and see this amazing team once more!

Absolutely gorgeous staff, the food was so good that I overate and now I have to go home feeling super full! Not my favourite feeling but the food was just great! It was great fun watching the chef cooking for us and if you’re worth millions you can get the Kobe Beef! Highly recommended going to this place! Absolutely lovely!! Oh also make sure to book because they can get busy

The wagyu here is amazingly tasty and tender. Small restaurant but very cozy and warm atmosphere. The staffs are friendly and cute. Btw, they really care about the food quality and customer experience. Even the wagyu was just a little bit overcooked, they served us with a new portion.

This restaurant is awesome! Excellently presented set meals with a balance between quality and price of the meat, definitely the place to go with friends for delicious sukiyaki! Just note, you will need to make a reservation before going. You can do that online or in person, if you're nearby. We arrived at around 5-10 mins early from our booking time (which you should probably do), and we were given our seats. The staff were very friendly, and knew English, which was great for having conversations.the atmosphere was also lovely, with many groups sitting together and having a meal. Each person needs to order a set, which differs in price and quality of the meat. (The better quality, the more expensive.) The presentation of the sets were very nice, and the staff will help you with the cooking and explaining how to eat the food. If you're wondering, the quality of meat in the mid range was already pretty good, and easy to chew, so you don't have to be looking too far in terms of money. Overall, a great restaurant to eat sukiyaki, and I highly recommend this place. 5/5

We came to this restaurant by pure chance we were deciding where to eat and we saw the place while walking towards Gion. We took the Arashima sukiyaki course, great quality, the place is small but very warm and I think what I appreciate the most is the kindness and warmth of the staff. Young, cheerful and very friendly people. They gave us a taste of japanese hospitality. I recommend you to try this place out.

I came here with my family and we really enjoyed the food and the service. The service was so great. One staff told me that 90% of customers are foreigners so most pf staffs can speak English!! She also said this restaurant is the origin of meat cube, and it is my favorite one!!! The meat slice was also satisfying!! The service was really impressive, the staff was so friendly, she(Futaba-chan)started talking to me and we had some chilling conversation!

They served a set meal and we chose the premium wagyu beef. The food and Sukiyaki are delicious! And I love the beef go with tofu too The staff are friendly and provide good service , specially thanks to Hayato We enjoy the dinner much!!:)
