Sullivans Cove Distillery

Kinda impromptu dropped in here since we knew they were somewhere in the area, weren't even sure if they accepted drop ins but what a pleasant surprise it was! (My partner has bought their products before and was keen to buy more). They do tours and tastings on site, in a lounge like room with classy chic music that just transforms you into into a different dimension. Very well done up, with brilliant service, very clean toilet on site too. Free parking. Price guide (as of Dec 2025): 3 x 10ml low- mid range whiskies taste flight $30 (bottles cost <$1k) 3 x 10ml high range (20+ years) whiskies taste flight $200 (bottles cost $4k) Individual tastings about $20 each 15ml

Had a fantastic time at the whisky distillery! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to join the distillery tour due to insufficient time before heading to the airport. However, the staff were friendly, and the tasting experience alone was worth the stop. Great atmosphere and a solid selection of whiskies — would love to come back for the full tour next time ** Definitely worth a visit for any whisky lover!

From the moment you step inside, you're immediately struck by the feeling of being surrounded by wood and barrels. The light, the wood, and of course the flavors complete the experience. The fact that there are no minors present makes the experience feel more like a companion and confidant.

One of the oldest distilleries in Australia. Quite a small scale production but they are very meticulous in their whiskeys. I had the special release tasting experience and the 3 old & rare whiskeys they offered were so unique and rich. I personally find the French oak, second cask, to be very smooth. The guys there were experts and told me alot about the history and how special the whiskeys were made here. Very nice experience and atmosphere. They also display many of their special bottles.

Had a tasting at the newly open tasting room/building and it was an incredible experience! Thank you for diligently walking us through each whisky and then helping with sign up to waitlists to purchase. Will definitely come back!

I visited on last Thursday, and the whisky tasting flight was amazing, providing a great experience to me in Distillery. One of the staff served us well and told us about their famous American and French oak! However, not all staff are good and polite. Two bottles were taken away from my table without any notice , and she ignored me even while I was still tasting. I asked her what happened when she did the same action to me. Her answer was, "I needed to borrow “ and went to take the bottle to the next table. The whisky taste is amazing, but the service is too embarrassing ! The service is like a pub!

One of the best distillery cellar doors we’ve been to. The fit out is amazing and the staff knew everything about the product. Can’t wait to visit again in the future.

Harry was such a great guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. After a long time I was able to visit my favourite Australian whisky maker. Was good to be able to hear about some of the history about distilleries in Tasmania and seeing the whisky making process. The tasting was great, loved every bit of it. I arrived early and the front of house staff were extremely friendly. Was offered two whisky to taste, both of which can only be had at the distillery. Ended up purchasing two bottles to be delivered and service was great, made sure everything was right before I was on my way. Look forward to taking another tour at Sullivan's Cove when they move locations on the Hobart harbour.

Very informative tasting. We didn't do the full tour, but instead walked in to find someone who could give us a taste of some of the worlds best whiskeys (including a one time winner of world's best) that you can't find anywhere else, while explaining the history of the distillery and whiskey generally in Tasmania. The decor is charming, and we had the place all to ourselves (I think other guests do the tour). It's possible it gets crowded, as it's a little small, but with a small group it's quite pleasant.

Really cool interiors - and a great story. They didn't even go to London because they didn't expect to win best whiskey, and they went overnight from not being profitable to getting sold right before Christmas 2016. Stop in, get some tastings in and learn about whiskey and the distilling process :-)

Um, best whiskey in the world - fucking Obama drinks it - so yeah, it's good. It's still whiskey though, so if you don't like whiskey... Place looks very industrial from the outside and is an oasis inside - leather couches and warm and softly lit. $25 bucks to taste the three. Sounds expensive, but their best is $350 a bottle so on that scale it's a steal.
