My recent visit to Sullivan's Public House in Charlestown unfortunately fell far short of expectations. Our decision to try Sullivan's after finding no room next door quickly turned regrettable due to a series of disappointing interactions and service issues. The main issue began with the main bartender, a bearded individual who we believe was named Billy or Mike. Despite the presence of multiple open tables, he informed us that "the bar is at capacity," compelling half of our party to wait outside, which was both puzzling and disheartening.
The situation was further exacerbated when we attempted to place a food order, only to have the same bartender outright deny our request. This refusal was not only unexpected but also contrary to the welcoming atmosphere we hoped to find. It was only after finding another staff member, a woman who was more accommodating, that we were able to order.
However, the frustration didn't end there. After our order was finally accepted, the service was remarkably slow, taking an entire hour for just a serving of wings and tater tots to be served. For a pub known for its casual fare, this delay was unacceptable and significantly detracted from our experience.
Reflecting on the visit, I cannot recommend Sullivan's Public House. The unwelcoming attitude from the staff, particularly the denial of our food order by the bearded bartender, coupled with the excessive wait time for basic appetizers, left a lasting negative impression. It's disappointing, as we had hoped for a much more enjoyable outing.
