Honestly not sure why this place has 3.9 stars… we love an izakaya, heard about this place online and were not disappointed. Yes, it’s pricier than your usual izakaya but the food is way beyond the usual!
I think you typically need to book a table but we got lucky on a Saturday night. Initially we were sat outside, we didn’t request to move inside but the waitress noticed my partner was cold and offered to move us inside once space came available.
A forewarning to tourists/non Japanese speakers, there is no English menu and it’s hand written Japanese, so can be tricky to translate on some apps. To us, this is usually a sign we’re in the right place and we muddled through with the help of the waitress who got out her own translation app to help.
The place has a very relaxed atmosphere, it’s cozy, full of people having laughs with friends and couples out for a night out. The staff are super friendly and even left us a little mayonnaise note “welcome to Japan” on one of our dishes.
The food is just incredible, everything is perfectly cooked, portioned and packed with flavour. It’s very easy to order too much because it’s all so good!
Do yourself a favour and pop in for some of the best karaage around, some highballs and the grilled mackerel.
10/10 do not pass the opportunity to go here!
