Summer House

I came here with a friend and totally loved it. My burger was really delicious and I took it protein style. My friend had salad with salmon and also loved it. Service was okay but not really impressive.

Signature dish. Baked “fresh” ono, ginger crust, orange buere blanc. Over cooked, fresh extremely questionable, the sauce is on top of the fish, like a glaze, no sauce on the plate. Sits on a huge pile of rice. Plain, unskilled. Like nobody cares. Ate half. Didn’t request to take home. Nobody asks why. Just another check. Disappointing. My wife’s stuffed chicken breast much better. Fresh tomato soup has a pile of shredded cheese on top, for some reason. Lead guy in house wandering around, kind of checking on things in a torn Pendleton shirt. Why. No real pride here. Won’t be back.

You won't find nicer restaurant staff at any other restaurant in the area. The food here was perfectly portioned and very tasty. My daughter had the island fire chicken and loved it. My wife had the chicken sandwich and gobbled it up, so I assume she enjoyed it. I started a plant-based diet so I requested the Summer House Salad without chicken or feta cheese, adding on cilantro; it was perfect! The restaurant is small with limited parking, but we arrived when it wasn't too crowded (7pm on a Monday evening), and managed to score a spot on a neighborhood street. You won't be disappointed with Summer House, we sure weren't.

I hadn’t been to Summer House since 2021 and was looking forward to meet with family for lunch on a Saturday and boy was I disappointed! I had called on Wednesday and made a reservation given we were a large group and when we showed up, they didn’t have our reservation down but regardless we were sat fairly quickly. Service was super slow as they seem to have 3 front personnel to take care of the whole restaurant and the bar which is understandable but if the place is semi full, be prepared to wait. Given it was Saturday brunch time, they should have another server. We ordered our food and unfortunately it didn’t seem that our server was having a good day as she was restless and not very friendly. We the had to wait a good 40 minutes for our food to arrive and during that time neither our water was refilled nor our coffee. I ordered the carnitas burrito which was very bland and didn’t have any salt and the little salsa that came with it was not spice at all. I had to wait another few minutes to flag another server to get be some hot sauce. My wife ordered the veggie omelette and it was so tiny and the potatoes very so little and bland. The prices are very reasonable and for the location, they can easily add a couple of bucks to the dishes and make the food a bit more plentiful. Not sure of if I come back again which is a pitty as we have been at summer time multiple times in the last 15 years living in Newport.

If you love brunch, this is the place to go to! They serve brunch until 2pm…I was so excited when I got to this place! The ambience is awesome! The music is on point, they have a nice bar, and food is very good! We went on a Sunday and we had to wait a bit longer than usual but I didn’t mind at all, I was just enjoying the place. Great menu and the prices are the absolute best! I’ll keep coming back, I loved it!! Everyone is super nice and they make you feel welcomed even though they were very busy…this will be my spot in Newport Beach from now on. I ordered the California Omelet and it was absolutely delicious! The person I went with ordered the Philly and he said it was pretty good. We loved this place and we’ll keep coming back ❤️

Delicious food, especially the Kung Pao Calamari 🤤😍 everyone was nice & checked on us if everything is ok. Abe gave us an amazing service, keep up the great job!!! Definitely will be coming back to try other food items when in the area next time 🤩

We usually order for pickup, so it was a nice treat to finally dine-in. We are obsessed with their burgers 🍔, all of them are delicious, and we usually between them to change it up 🤣 My favorite is their brie burger, and my husband's is the cheeseburger.

SOOOO RANDOM!!! Ok who would have know that this little breakfast nook with Yellow Umbrellas would be home to the best......... wait for it .... Drumroll...... BISCUITS AND GRAVY(Babbyyyy) yes I said it and please challenge me... weather it's me or my mother in law, if biscuits and gravy are on the menu menu then at least one of us is trying it... and this time it was her!!! And we hit the JACKPOT BABY! Ok, sautéed red peppers bacon and wait for it Bacon... all in a classic gravy sauce on soft buttery biscuit.... Look you can just put potatoes in anything and to be honest if I would have know prior that it had that, I would have instantly said naw maybe next time.... But to my surprise it was perfect, they were soft honestly at times thought it was extra biscuit.... Any way that's enough biscuit rant! Got try this place and find something maybe you would like (poke nachos hint hint) WE LOVE SUMMER HOUSE!

After a first time visit to Sherman Library & Gardens- looked for a nearby place to have lunch and found this gem in Corona Del Mar. There are outdoor tables with umbrellas as well as seating inside a really cool cottage/ beach vibes home. Pretty cool. Was greeted and told they'd get a table ready for our large group. For coming in on a busy Saturday at 2pm- I was pleased with the shorter wait time. Our server was Pedro aka Superman. And he was awesome- considering he was on his own!! Now for the most important part: the food ;) For an appetizer we ordered their spinach and artichoke dip with chips. It was delicious and looked really fresh and well made. I ordered their albacore tuna melt with sweet potato fries. It comes with a long half pickle and a side of their orangy sauce (that has a nice kick!) my choice was delightful! Some of the other things ordered were their bacon avocado cheeseburger and regular cheeseburger with fries- both delicious and tasty meat patties. The owner even came to our table and said "how we doin family? He came over to introduce himself and to make sure we weren't missing anything. Will certainly be back and actually looking forward to their brunch menu.

Came with a friend because he likes it here. I just had bad luck and ordered the wrong thing. But, no dish should be wrong. He ordered the Ahi Tuna sandwich and he said it was delish! I ordered the carnitas tacos and it was not good. The carnitas seemed stale and old. It was super dry and over done. The place was not busy and service was slow. I was not impressed and have no desire to come back.

2.5 stars The service was slow and our waiter "Superman" apologized to us at the end. It was all good because we weren't in a rush and enjoyed the sunshine while sitting outside. We came in with high expectations due to being wowed by the food in our past summers of coming here. However, it did not hit the mark. The burger was not a good burger at all. As I am writing this, I am still nauseous from it. It was 22 dollars where you can get a MUCH BETTER burger from "the Place" down the street or "shake shack" on crystal cove. Plus the advertised fries were small and few provided. It was too much burger meat (1/2 pound) and thick, rather than a smash burger form. The Mac and cheese was a let down and wayyy too much cheese! I don't plan to come back unless they reinvent their menu to be less heavy.

We came in on a Monday afternoon and was set up in a perfect location to be able to park our stroller this was very kind of the staff right away. The inside is decorated so nicely it is like a beach bungalow and very comfortable. The food is fantastic, I had the ahi tuna salad and my Wife got the BLTA. The tuna salad was great there was plenty of tuna to be able to have a piece with every bite, it was flavorful zesty and fresh! Unfortunately I cannot say how the BLTA was as my wife refused to give me one bite it was so good, the French fries were thin and crispy, I liked this my wife not so much. Menu was pretty pricey but it's CDM, a very nice spot and we will certainly be back!

Just looking for somewhere I could eat outside in Corona Del Mar. Found a parking Spot and looked across the street and found summer house. Had an outstanding lunch: salmon Caesar salad with top line Margarita. Only four outside tables, but other tables facing street with open windows. Excellent service by the way. Thanks!

We really enjoyed this want little spot. It really does look like summer house in its history. Very charming, we got seated immediately, enjoyed a drink while waiting for our lunch. I had the mezcal cocktail, not my favorite just didn't seem too original. Likely it was me not really enjoying mezcal flavor. My husband had a mimosa and he thought it was ok. The prices for both were very reasonable. I had cheeseburger thought it was good ordered medium rare definitely more on the medium or medium well side. My husband a BLTA he thought it ok. Overall definitely will go back and try a few more things on menu. Service was very good and timely

The place was super cute. The burger and tacos were yummy. The aesthetic was very laid back and chill. I wish that the service was a bit better. The drinks here were also delicious! I think it's a cute lunch/bunch spot. It wasn't too busy on Saturday :)

Chicken noodle soup wasn't chicken noodle soup, tasted out of a can. The steak skewers were extremely overcooked. The calamari and burger were decent, no complaints. But overall, the place was very mediocre at best. Napkins and water were great. *service was 'okay', definitely not bad but can't say it was great.

Nice interior, feels just like a Summer house. We came here early morning because of close distance to Beach and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious especially the ahi tuna salad, I loved the dressing. Our server was on point and was very helpful with recommendations. It seems to be a popular tourist place so do try to get in early because it got very packed as we were leaving. Definitely mark it as a must visit if you're in the Corona Del Mar beach area.

What a cute fun little restaurant. We stopped by for a drink on Saint Patrick's day. They had themed green drinks. It was fun. They also had a special Saint Patrick's brunch menu. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Dale. Such a nice guy! He came over and helped us take pictures and was very nice and hospitable. Would definitely recommend stopping by here if you are in the area.

The service is wonderful and the food was delicious. Great location. The turkey burger was the best I've ever had.

We wandered over here after a visit to the Sherman Library and Gardens and what a find! Our server was very nice and the food was delicious! Our group of 5 all cleared our plates. We came in around 11:30 on a Sunday & were seated right away. I had the ahi salad which was one of the best I've ever had! Def give this place a try!

I think I've been addicted to the steak sandwich with cheese and the sweet potato fries or spinach side delicious Here's a tip, please always order medium rare so it doesn't get overcooked! Cook just write a little pink oh my goodness it's really YUM. I have cravings for this dish, I have to have it once a week delicious!

Best Food, Best service our favorite! This restaurant holds special memories because it is where I always take my friends and family when they visit and I'm never disappointed. In the summertime all the windows are open and it feels like a great Summer house!!

My brother lives in Newport Beach and recommended SH for lunch.Dishes ordered: Fish tacos,BBQ chicken salad and Pork Sandwhich. Everything was awesome! Pretty fast service and noticed it's very dog friendly. Parking was very easy to find on a Sunday afternoon. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants here!

We love this place! Perfect for lunch the location is awesome. The food is really good , they are usually really busy but still keep up with the service level. The ambiance gives you the sensation of sophisticated beach restaurant. I love the stuffed chicken is so yummy one of my favorite dishes.

This restaurant is close to the Sherman library and gardens we chose this restaurant because it was close to the venue. The restaurant is based on a summer theme however being Christmas the restaurant embraced the holidays . We were seated right away and the server was attentive and accommodating our requests. I ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich and my friend got the pulled pork sandwich. Our meals were served hot and timely. The flavor of my club were well matched and flavorful. Would go back again.

I was in heaven. An independently-owned, non-pretentious eatery with reasonably priced amazing food! The service was lovely. The atmosphere was enchanting.

Came here with a friend for lunch and it was delicious! From the Kung Pao Calamari starter to my cheeseburger. I loved the twist on Calamari I've never ever heard of it and had to try. The tangy orange sweet and slightly spicy flavor yum.... Just writing about it makes me wish I saved a few bites!!

I've had Summer House before but yesterday was my first time eating at the restaurant. We came on a Sunday late afternoon and decided to sit outside. Yes, the street is busy, but you honestly don't notice it so don't let it stop you from sitting outside. We were starving and wanted everything on the menu but we opted to share the poke nachos appetizer and I had a bbq pork sandwich. The poke was delicious. It could've been my entree. The fish was fresh, tasty, and was served with perfectly ripe avocado. The bbq pork was everything I wanted and more. Covered in bbq sauce with a cold crunchy coleslaw. The radishes are a nice touch. I also love that their French fries are the shoe string style and you have the option to choose between sweet potato fries. Our server was so attentive, I wish I would've gotten his name.

I love Summer House! It's the epitome of a perfect lunch spot on a sunny, summer day. I ordered the tuna melt, bacon cheeseburger, poké nachos, and strawberry lemonade. Everything I ordered was delicious! The strawberry lemonade was my absolute favorite. I loved that there was strawberry bits in the lemonade. I also really enjoyed the poke nachos. Service here was great, and the seating was right along the scenic streets of Corona Del Mar. Overall, it was perfect and I cannot wait to return here.

This is a great little local spot in Corona Del Mar. The setting is beachy, quaint and low key, despite the toney seaside neighborhood they are in. The menu is varied and somewhat streamline. My wife and I shared the filet mignon Philly cheesesteak sandwhich, served with shoestring fries. It was plenty for the two of us for lunch. The burgers and fish and chips ordered by others in our party were tasty as well. They have a small bar indoors, at which a few obviously local patrons were bellied up to. The prices are reasonable and the portions generous. Parking, as always in this area can be a challenge, but is to be expected. Overall a winner.

I just had lunch at Summerhouse in Corona Del Mar. I had a BBQ chicken salad and it was excellent. I highly recommend going to Summerhouse.

Tuna melt very tall. Had to bite half at a time very nice flavor. taste good tuna mild taste lots of cheese and good toast on the bread. Sweet potato fries are very good. Less than 1/4 per side with crisp fry. IPA spacedust had burnt hops taste to me. I would not get again Chocolate heaven was good. The ice cream really made it. Service is good We have eaten here every time we come to the area and every meal is very good

I got the tuna melt sándwich and it was very delicious. The fries were so good because they were thin and crispy. This place was cute and cozy and minutes away from the beach. They brought out food out quick and sat us down quickly as well. I recommend for a cute brunch spot.

Food has no flavor been twice, same result. Chicken pesto sandwich was dry! Calamari appetizer was swimming in sauce.

The food is always awesome. Service depends on who is there and time of day... but it is still my favorite local spot.

Went here for takeout about an hour from closing. Food was quality and service was good. I would pick up from here again.

Delicious stop after a day at the beach. Highly recommend the stuffed chicken breast, amazing. Only sad thing is I don't live near by, or else is be coming here regularly. Parking in back can be tight, but overall I'm super pleased.

We were meeting our son for dinner close to his place, we checked Yelp for a nice and friendly atmosphere place with good food. Summer house came with great reviews, so we thought that we would give it a shot. Our waiter, Abraham, greeted and he was awesome and attentive throughout. We ordered the calamari to start and it was delicious. We followed up with the fresh grilled ono & arugula salad, while seasoned well the fish was very dry, we also had the chicken summer salad, which was delicious. One positive thing is that they have parking spaces in the back or street if is available.

First of all, kudos and props to the staff who were all so friendly!! The vibe was like a summer cottage, and fun relaxed. Those parts were great. As for the food, I'm kind of surprised that this place is so well-rated, it didn't really stand out to me. I got the crispy fish tacos, and my friend had the summer salad. The experience overall was cool, but I wouldn't recomend it on top of list or go out of my way to go back.

What a great place! I have ordered a few things and tasted many during our many visits to the Summer House. The food is fresh and tasty and there's a variety to choose from to satisfy everyone's tastes. The sandwiches are a site when they are presented because they are stacked high and loaded with goodness and the portions are great!! The owner is super friendly and attentive and the place is always impeccably clean. Unfortunately , due to the city's ridiculous OVER REACH, they disallowed the wonderful outdoor seating this place has and now they require a laundry list of construction by the owner to even attempt to get through the city's scrutiny. The tables are still out in front and are good for waiting to be seated or for a to go order but are not available for dining. ALL of CDM wants the beach atmosphere and outdoor ambiance BACK.

Hey All- Four of us recently had dinner at Summer House in Corona Del Mar. What a treat! Fun, lively restaurant with awesome food. Highly recommend the Ono! Just as delicious as you would get in any Hawaiian Island restaurant. Also the spicy calamari was outstanding. We thank our waiter Will for his spot on recommendations as this was our first time at Summer House. Will was extremely busy yet still gave us fantastic service along with his upbeat personality. We will all be back again soon to enjoy the food, exceptional service and ambience.
