When you're stuck on the East Bay due to that 5:00 PM rush hour across the bridge, your best bet is to stay on the East Bay. For a while, at least, to let the traffic subside.
We were craving Thai, and this place was just five minutes away from an exit on the bridge towards San Francisco. Deciding not to spend an hour in slowly moving traffic, we chose this place because they had the classics: pad see-ew, thai fried rice, and roti with a curry sauce.
Those were the exact dishes we got - and to our surprise, even for a fancier-looking establishment, the portion sizes are no joke. The roti was by far the best roti I've had - breaks apart like cheese, with a thicker, chewier inside, and a perfect green curry (not too spicy) to dip in. I would say the roti as an appetizer is a fairly standard size. The pad see-ew (with chicken) and thai fried rice (with chicken), however. . . Though the plates looked small, they were packed in the little dip! The plate was more like a bowl plate, so very deceiving, but a wonderful surprise to know you're getting the bang for your buck.
Hack (but maybe you already do this): If you've got left over green curry from the roti you gobbled down, pour it over your fried rice or your pad see-ew for a little kick. The waitress pointed it out when my partner dumped the curry onto their pad see-ew, agreeing that she's done the same. Give it a try! Especially if you're like us: no food goes to waste. The thai fried rice was tasty as well, but nothing that made it stand out from other fried rices.
The staff was very kind, especially our waitress. She checked in on us often. Meanwhile, the food was quick: we eaten when it just opened so it only had two our patrons in the restaurant. By the time we left, a few more tables were filling up.
Parking: Street parking, must pay on Mondays - Fridays. On the weekends, parking is free, and we found a spot pretty quickly and right beside the restaurant.
Overall, the food is good and the staff is kind, but it's not a place I would write home about. Except the roti - the roti is a MUST.
