Disappointed with our visit. Not sure how this place has 4 stars. We ordered three different dishes—each one was overcooked, bland, and lacked flavor. Definitely not what we expected.

Google
Great little place with a diverse menu from duck to calamari. Been several times and everything I've had (and the ppl with me) was tasty. The hot n sour soup is not that good, but everything else has been excellent. Very large portions and the service is always on spot. Really good prices and they don't upcharge for extra things like dipping sauce or crunchy noodles. A great go-to spot!

I came in tonight for dinner at around 6:30 PM for the first time in many years and was excited because of the many good reviews. There was only one other table in the restaurant with people and they were on their way out as we arrived so it was not busy at all. The service from the start was really strange and it kind of felt like we shouldn’t be there like it was an inconvenience. When we ordered food, I asked if my plate could come with fried rice instead of steamed and was told that’s not an option; that it would have to be a separate dish to be ordered entirely. I’ve never heard that at a Chinese restaurant before whether it was a cheap one or a high end one so off bat that was strange. The Thai tea we ordered was really disappointing and we did not even have more than a sip. Considering how expensive this place was (about $50 for 2 people, no appetizers either) I genuinely was disappointed and don’t know how this place has such high reviews. Definitely wouldn’t recommend. There's no tv and no music, just silence, SUCH a weird vibe.

Google
Excellent, fast, and friendly place. Our waitress was a silent ninja, she had refills out before I realized she had come by. Like the drinks magically refilled themselves. Our food was fresh, and hot. We didn't have to wait on anything, it was perfectly timed. I got hot jasmine tea, and it was great. Husband got the iced tea, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Had vegetable tempura, hot n sour soup, mango chicken with shrimp, and asparagus chicken. It all came out looking just like the photos on the menu. Definitely will come back.

Google
We had a outstanding experience. We dined in. The food is fresh and made to order. Best Hot & Sour soup! Our server was awesome, courteous and very professional. The restaurant atmosphere is comfortable and super clean!! The menu provides many options to choose from. We have been to several establishments for Chinese food and we are pleased to say this is the best in town. Definitely will be back!!🥰

Google
We made a stop at Sun Garden Bistro because my mom said she loved the place. We ordered a combination of lunch and dinners because we wanted to try some of everything. Aladdin might want to go there and get his genie back because I swear he was working in that kitchen! The food is absolutely amazing and it is not easy to pick a favorite because everything was delicious! Who knew that salt and pepper shrimp could taste so heavenly?! This restaurant is rated a 10/10 in my opinion because I will be returning and I do recommend it to everyone!

Google
When we came in we were the only table so the service was quite quick. I tried the hot & sour soup as an appetizer and it was really good. We asked for the sweet&sour and orange chicken with lo main on the side. Portions are HUGE. I recommend getting one dish and one side for two people. Flavor is good and I would definitely come back.

Take out, excellent and fast service, delicious food, well served portions

Yelp
Ordered sweet and sour pork, lo mien noodles, and some sort of beef, probably Hunan. Everything was average. The noodles were a bit thick, like udon noodles, which... ew... One of the things I notice when ordering something like pork, is that sometimes it just tastes like it's been sitting in the kitchen for a over a week. Sometimes the sauces can cover that up, and sometimes the rotten taste comes out. Such was the case here. Like every few bites there was that old nasty road kill taste coming through. There could have been more pineapple, carrots (although they tasted like they were cooked in toilet water - see next sentence), and smaller and more cuts of onions. But probably the worst thing at the table was the tap water. And yes, it was definitely tap water!! Tasted like it came out of a toilet. It was so disgusting. I would have ordered a soda, but I stay away from sugar. Afraid to order lemonade, because it surely had sugar in it. It was pretty disgusting!! On a good note, the service was excellent!! But we'll never be back. That was gross.

Yelp
Clean dining area. Delicious food. Excellent service. Great prices. Large portions. Had the Chicken Egg Fu Young and the Beef Lo Mein

Yelp
A hidden gem when it comes to Chinese food! The menu is large and includes both American and Traditional Chinese options. Despite having such a large menu, I have yet to be disappointed by any of their dishes. Definitely recommend their salt and pepper shrimp as well as their garlic eggplant. Their service is also prompt and efficient. The interior is a bit understated however it feels cozy and has a certain charm about it. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for authentic Chinese food on the Westside.

Yelp
Great food and great lunch specials. This place is great when you're craving a wide variety of Chinese food.

Yelp
We were looking for a restaurant open on Christmas Day. We had a Christmas dinner planned for later in the day. We found they were open and had a great experience. While we were there a table of at least 20 came in and more people came in. The service was good and big portions of food. We'll be back

Yelp
Food is great, but I only have one critique and it's related to the ambience. I used to be a regular customer, but I don't go as often now because (and I know this will sound like a very strange critique) the music is very repetitive and played loudly. I hear the same song multiple times, regardless of when I go there. So when I decide to go there now, I just have to weigh whether the great food is worth having that tune stuck in my head for hours....
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious local hole in the wall Chinese. Perfect neighborhood weeknight dinner place. Service is always good. Don't expect fancy inside which means it's going to be awesome food.
google avatar

Yelp
The dumpling vegetable soup was extremely watered down. The veggies, shrimp and meat had no flavor. I am not sure if it's new owners as this place use to have excellent food before.
google avatar

Yelp
Sun Garden has definitely been consistent and so far our go-to when we're craving Chinese in El Paso. Good flavor, fresh ingredients and quick and friendly service. The chicken Lo-Mein came with big, tender chunks of chicken, the sesame chicken was flavorful as well as their Kung-Pao. I also really like that their Crab Rangoons are big, full and fluffy and the spring rolls are perfectly crisp. We were really happy to find out they were open on Christmas Day as we had been on the road all day and didn't feel like cooking.

Yelp
Food is not thoroughly reheated, and prices are subject to change as well. The food is very bland.
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best Chinese food I've had in a while, especially their chicken wings and sweet and sour chicken. The only thing I didn't like was their chow menu which to me actually tasted worse than Panda Express's. Can't go wrong with any item as I went and got buffet style with my boss who paid for it all.

Yelp
Just moved to town and finally found my favorite Chinese spot! SS chicken / hot & sour soup / egg rolls!

Yelp
We ordered carry out from here a few times over the last two months and have never, not once, been disappointed! They're closed for dine in right now, and when ordering for carry out they bring the food outside to you (there is a number to call on the door). We ordered General Tsos, Sweet and Sour chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, and egg drop soup as well as a side of steamed vegetables. Everything was ready in twenty minutes, was hot and fresh, you could tell they use REAL ingredients and not frozen, and the woman helping us was super friendly. My kids love this place and it's a favorite of ours to order from on days we are busy, especially with how quick they are! Portion sizes are huge and go a long way, as well as being reasonably priced.

Yelp
Love the orange chicken and wanton soup and the waitress was so nice to us I would highly recommend this restaurant I can't wait to come back soon

Yelp
It's almost time for the Autumn Moon festival so I stopped by Saigon Market since they just got them in yesterday. I also decided to try out Sun Garden in the same shopping center. I ordered some beef chow fun $12, hot and sour soup $2 over the phone. When I got there I saw that they had a special there with several entrees. I ordered some beef with broccoli and spicy basil tofu with pork fried rice for $20. They also had beers on special...buy 1 get 2 free. I got Sapporo which is an import so was like $5, but got 3 for that price. The food is good, a little toned down for the general public, but the flavor notes are there as well as the textures. I shouldn't have ordered so much, it's a LOT of food. We'll have leftovers for days...but Chinese food is good reheated. It came with fortune cookies as well.

Yelp
This place got me through the COVID pandemic of 2020! Being in El Paso during these trying times, I found comfort in this delicious food. There's only so many times I'm willing to cook the same four dishes I know how to make... They have curbside pickup set up pretty nicely so you can just call ahead, pull up, call them, and they bring it out to you. I've tried multiple items on the menu--I can say I get food from here once a week. I would recommend the Spring Rolls, Vegetable Lo Mein, Spicy Basil Chicken (the BEST), sesame sauce chicken, and the curry sauce chicken lo mein (amazing). The food here is just delicious. It's fresh, flavorful, the portions are huge, and it's ridiculously well priced. We usually get 2 entrees (comes with steamed) rice and still have leftovers for two people.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite chinese place in El Paso. Great food at great prices. What more can you ask for? Ambiance - Dimly lit with some eastern influenced decor with plenty of seating. Even for a group of 6, they were able to accommodate us very quickly. Service - Friendly and our food came out very fast. Food - I've been here multiple times and have always stuck to their lunch deals of 2 entrees and one rice option for $18 (these run Mon-Sat!). That might sound like a lot but they give you so much food that I am able to have leftovers for the next two days or so. My favorite though would have to be the pork fried rice. I always have to get this when I come. Overall, I come here very often and it's never failed to disappointed. Great food, large portions, great prices. Time to meal prep for days.

Yelp
This place is authentic. Cooked to order food. Fresh and satisfying. Their hot and sour soup is better than famous Chinese bistro chain. We ordered lunch specials and very reasonable prices and the portions are more than fair. Recommend the broccoli beef and Kung pao chicken.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food combo specials with good service and easy wait times, definitely worth stopping by.

Yelp
Very clean Chinese Restaurant w/ a chef. Only 3 Stars b/c Hunan Chicken had NO flavor; although, the Spring Roll was crispy w/ fresh vegetables. Plum Sauce was good, too. The egg roll was best part of meal, unbelievable. Really thought this was going to be my go to for Chinese food. The chef might have ha an off day.

Yelp
Good is great and the service is good! I always tell my friend to come here if they are looking for good Chinese food!

Yelp
This place is incredible!!!! Food is outrageously good. Portions are very generous and price is unbeatable! Service is quite good as well. It's a bit out of my way, but I will sure comeback quite often.....

Yelp
The main entrée (spicy basil chicken) was a very generous portion. Most of the dish was quite good, but the vegetables were poorly prepped and undercooked. The carrots in particular were hard and woody. I started the meal with hot and sour soup. There was nothing wrong with it other than tasting a tiny bit diluted. Where things went wrong were two-fold. The original entrée was meant to be bitter gourd and beef. That's why I came to Sun Garden at all tonight. I was already half through my soup and had eaten 1 of the 2 BBQ Pork buns (more on that in a minute) before the very polite and attentive server came back. She offered another dish with a "new" Chinese vegetable that I had never heard of for a few dollars more, but I opted for the spicy basil chicken instead. The bao (steamed filled buns) were a nightmare. Definitely not made in house. I ordered two and they had the distinct texture of something frozen, then thawed, then heated in the microwave. Parts of the buns were fine, parts were hard and overcooked and the rest was soggy. The filling was tasty at least, but these were an insult and shouldn't be on the menu if they cannot be made correctly in the Sun Garden kitchen.

Yelp
I ordered the crispy eggplant and crispy tofu. They both come out in a sweet and sour sauce (not spicy at all). The sauce is more sweet than anything and honestly, it's disgusting. It's almost like drinking sugar. Both dishes are saturated in it. I haven't ordered crispy eggplant in a long time, but I don't ever remember it being served in a sweet and sour sauce-but I could be wrong. Maybe about 1/4 of the pieces weren't saturated and it's not bad. I dipped it in another hot sauce that was dropped off at my table and it really isn't bad. But I couldn't finish half this plate because of that sauce. Crispy tofu, is definitely not served in sweet and sour sauce. In fact, it's never served in any kind of sauce-that defeats the purpose of the "crispy" part. There's sauce on the side, but not poured all over the tofu. I almost asked to talk to the chef and ask why they did this. I considered this so many times, and I really love crispy tofu and this sauce just ruins everything. I also ordered the Thai ice tea. It's terrible also. There's a lot of powder in its taste.

Yelp
This is such an underrated hole in the wall mom and pop shop. I love coming here for their authentic Chinese cuisine. I regularly crave their egg-drop soup and have finished an absurd amount in one sitting before. I also like their salt and pepper fish filet- I've tried to recreate this at home but I can never get the batter as crispy, light, and flavorful as theirs. I also like to order a vegetable dish, typically the sugar snap peas, Chinese broccoli, or water spinach if it's available. The vegetable dish is pricey in my opinion being that it's priced the same as the other entree dish. Overall I spend about 40 here for all of the above mentioned dishes and it very easily can feed 2 comfortably.

Yelp
Love the lunch special for the egg fu young. Great prices and good food. I've done take out and the portions were great, had enough for leftovers.

Yelp
So it's a Friday night and we are wondering what take-out we're getting tonight. I'm in the mood for Chinese so we find Sun Garden on Facebook & Yelp. The reviews look great so we give it a try. It was hard to call (always busy) so we just drove down and gave our order with the nice, young lady running orders. Lots of cars coming and going. Service was fast and the food smelled good. Back home & food looks great. Better yet, tastes wonderful. General Tso chicken was good. Black pepper spicy beef was amazing. We also got the bbq pork fried rice-very good. And crab rangoon-good. Overall we have lots of leftovers and a new favorite Chinese place. I would take pictures but I waited to late and food is eaten.

Yelp
So finding good Chinese restaurants is pretty hard to find. I'm not talking about buffets either. Real Chinese food. I felt like some good Chinese Food and we had not found one on the west side of town... well.. I think I have found one! My wife ordered Broccoli Chicken with white rice, hot n sour soup and order of spring rolls; I ordered Chicken Lo Mein, with some fried rice, egg drop soup and an order of the Rangoon's. My wife loved her food but she couldn't finish it. Looked very good. Let me start with what I wasn't crazy for. I wasn't crazy about the fried rice.. needed more flavor and egg! The egg drop soup again needed more flavor, tasted bland to me. Now, the Lo mien was pretty damn good!! The noodles were not soft! I hate for my noodles to be super soft. Flavor was on point and good amount of protein. The rangoons need more crab in them but still good. The order is 6 of them so good to share. I would definitely go back for the Lo mein. Portions are good.
google avatar

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY scrumptious. I always order the hot pot mussels and I'm never displeased. A must try!!!
google avatar

Marzza C.

Yelp
Sun Garden has a great menu with lots of variety to appeal to all Chinese lovers! Being a Vegan this is one of my regular weekly treat! Check out their onion pancake, packed with great flavor and I really enjoy their Spicy Tofu and Veggie Fried Rice! They are always willing to customize my order!!!! My hubby is still a carnivore and enjoys their snow pea chicken and sweet and sour chicken too! A place to check out and try for sure! Currently they have a great call and pick-up service and very customer oriented! Enjoy!
google avatar

Cyndi S.

Yelp
Tried it but won't go back. Beef and broccoli was good but sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and tasted like burnt grease
google avatar

Vanessa O.

Yelp
Being from out of town this was quite a find during the Christmas Holiday. All the food we order was absolute delicious and the amount for the price was OUTSTANDING! We had appetizers, soups, and entrees. There was something for everyone on the menu. The staff was extremely polite over the phone when taking my order. I have this on my places to go to again when ever I come back to El Paso. I really want to say most of all - THANK YOU for being open on Christmas. I didn't plan well enough when it came to having something to eat on Christmas Day. You all were a life saver!
google avatar

Gary N.

Yelp
All i can say is food very greasy. Did not taste very good. I would not order here again nor would I recommend this place to anyone.

G G.

Yelp
First, the service is excellent and the waiter did a great job. Unfortunately, the food is mediocre, tasted like it was reheated in a burned pan and then served. I have eaten all over the world and this restaurant needs a new cook. I was not impressed nor will I return. I give this food a thumbs down. The egg drop soup was average. I only tried this place because of some of the reviews which I now see are questionable.
google avatar

Brinda C.

Yelp
My go to place when I'm craving Chinese food or when I need to meal prep for the week without actually cooking. Their carry out containers are perfect for reuse. Great portion size and plenty of menu options. Plus many dishes come with steamed rice. (I hate when Chinese restaurants charge extra for steamed white rice) My favorite dishes that I recommend are the salt and pepper chicken wings, Singapore noodles, spicy basil eggplant and the Kung Pao Chicken!
google avatar

Claudia M.

Yelp
So this place is good but I must say , I am a bit disappointed. I understand that the pandemic hit and all but now that they are fully opened, I feel like the food has lost its taste , not to mention the prices went up significantly but the quality of food has gone down.
google avatar

Alexandra C.

Yelp
I've ordered from here multiple times and each time I have enjoyed it very much. I always end up eating more that I should. This place has taken over as our go to Chinese spot from now on. Only thing I don't like is the location.. haha wish they'd expand or deliver all over the city but keep the quality.

Liz A.

Yelp
Best Chinese food on the Westside! We have tried others but no one can compare. Always come back! Food is authentic and tasty!
google avatar

Samantha V.

Yelp
Probably the best Chinese food in El Paso.Go here with an empty stomach because the portions are HUGE. The lunch specials is a really great deal if you are wanting a filling lunch at a great price. It includes your entree plus a soup and fried rice. In addition, they also have this special with 2 entrees plus rice at $18.99, that can honestly fill up three people. May only compliant is that they don't carry sriracha.

Skip P.

Yelp
WOW, I don't understand all the 5 star reviews Yes the portions are huge, but food has little no flavor. Spring rolls; no flavor and over cooked Beef lo mein: way over cooked. Noodles were mushy. Had to return meal Chicken egg foo yung: drowned in gravy, raw in the middle, horrible brown rice At least the ice tea was good
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
Wow! Probably the best Chinese's food I've ever had! With nearly a five star rating, I expected it to be good. But it was beyond expectations! I had the chicken broccoli and it was amazing! A huge portion that I couldn't even finish. It came out pipping hot and delicious. I also had an order of spring rolls and they were equally fantastic. I highly recommend checking it out for Chinese food. Also the waitress was very friendly and helpful in deciding what to order. I appreciated that. Thank you Karmin!
google avatar

Gabriel M.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in during lunch. They have lunch specials which are very cheap in price and good in quality. I ordered the hunan chicken and my wife ordered another chicken entree. The lunch specials come with a soup and your choice of fried or steamed rice. Both plates were very good. They have plenty of favor, and plenty of chicken. It's very good considering for both lunch specials it was a total of $13. That's unheard of nowadays, and you cannot beat that especially with the Quality of food they put out. I will be going back. Just enjoy coming back here a great place for great food. I'll continue to come back, keep it up Sun Garden.
google avatar

Blanca M.

Yelp
Hands down the best and most authentic Chinese food place in el Paso. El Paso is full of mexicanized Chinese food. This place is not one of them. We order WAY too much food and have left overs for the next two days and I am not sad about that. Got beef lo mein and chicken lo mein, wonton soup, egg drop soup, roast duck, tempura veggies and pork buns. We absolutely loved everything. Happy fast friendly service too.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
I used to live in a bigger city and one of the things I miss the most is a Chinese food takeout place that has food that is tasty and consistently good. I finally found my place. My food was delicious and the portions were great. My leftovers continued to be tasty when reheated which is not something you can say about most Chinese food places in El Paso. The cherry on top was that they gave me enough crispy toppings for my hot and sour soup. Yes, I know it's not healthy but, gosh darn it, I want an unhealthy amount of crispy toppings and not have to ask for it!

Ileen D.

Yelp
My husband has always been a fan of this place. But after tonight, not anymore. We went it and placed a take out order, we were shocked to get it under 15 min. Once we got home we figured why it was ready so fast. The food was literally half assed. My husband got the general Taos and I got the sweet and sour pork. Both were so over breaded. There was more breading than chicken. As well as the pork. And even then, when I bit into the pork it was old. We threw away everything. It was so disappointing. Below are images of all the breading we had to take off because it was so over bearing.

Yelp
First of all, I do want to state that the stars given here are based on the options in El Paso alone. Service: Our waitress was friendly and we were seated immediately when we got there. It was a Sunday evening and it was relatively busy. Water was provided to us quickly. Food: My mother is a wonderful Chinese lady who knows how to cook good Chinese food. I was so happy when I found this place. Pretty much all Chinese food in EP is takeout Americanized Chinese food, it's rare to find authentic Chinese. They have a menu that is focused on Authentic Chinese food, which I made me happy. We had the black bean ribs and my husband loves the honey walnut shrimp so we got that too. Both came with as much rice as you'd like, which we love because we can INHALE rice. Portions are decent for the price but the flavor and taste were amazing. It reminded me so much of home and my family. I definitely recommend both options if you stop by. Ambiance: It's your classic Chinese restaurant. I will say, halfway through the dinner, the music completely stopped and it was dead quiet. I have some mad anxiety issues and I can't stand the silence, so that really bothered me more than my husband, haha. Cleanliness: The table was soooo sticky! I could tell it had been cleaned but I can't understand why it was so dang sticky! We live on the East side but the next time we're in West EP, we're DEFNITELY stopping by!

Yesenia C.

Yelp
I haven't found a decent Chinese restaurant and i think i found one. Its a lil pricey but portions are big. My bf got the general tso chicken it is spicy! I got the bbq chow mein i liked it but was a bit salty.

Yelp
Unbelievable that this restaurant is so highly rated. I've just had the worst orange chicken I've ever tasted, chicken lo mein made with linguine, the sorriest excuse for pork fried rice, and a BBQ pork bun which was absolutely dessicated on the bottom. Never again, and if you're ever tempted to eat there, so yourself a favor and keep driving.
