"Heath Ledger was only on screen for about 30 minutes in The Dark Knight , but there’s a reason he won an Oscar - he completely stole the show. It’s kind of like Sun Nong Dan, the strip mall Korean spot on 6th St. They have 25 things on the menu, and they’re all pretty good. But there’s only one dish people line up for: Galbi jjim, a massive cauldron of braised short ribs in a spicy galbi sauce. Yes, it’s deserving of all the attention. And, yes, it’s really that simple. In fact, you’ll likely order it before you even sit down. At Sun Nong Dan, you sign in, hang out in the parking lot until they call your name, then tell a server your order before being led to your table. If that sounds stressful, don’t worry: Just get the galbi jjim with cheese. Sure, if you’re here alone, there are other things you could order - their oxtail soup (sulung tang) is good, and the short rib soup (oo guh ji galbi tang) is rich, spicy, and filling. But not ordering the galbi jjim is like going to Gotham and skipping a tour of Wayne Manor. The galbi is massive and meant to be shared while hot, so Sun Nong Dan is definitely best when you’re eating with a group. It’s also not the kind of place you go for a long, leisurely meal - the banchan is waiting for you when you get to your table, and the galbi isn’t far behind. When the server does bring that cast-iron skillet over, it’s hard not to contemplate one of those McDonald’s hot-coffee lawsuits. The red stew is bubbling violently, and the sizzling skillet is giving off more steam than a Wi Spa shower - and then the server fires up a blowtorch to melt the shredded mozzarella on top. It may be a touch theatrical, but it amps up the anticipation (is it possible for your eyes to drool?) in a way that a basic broiler never could. When you spoon the mixture out over some rice, you’ll encounter a lot: Bone-in short ribs and boneless back ribs, onions, carrots, potatoes, and tteok - firm, cylindrical rice cakes. You’ll encounter even more once you taste it. There’s an immense amount of garlic, the sauce is both sweet and fantastically spicy, and the cheese adds a creaminess that helps mitigate the spice. The beef is tender enough that you probably won’t need the accompanying meat shears to get it off the bone. And by the time you get to the bottom of the pan, the rice cakes have turned crispy, adding a bit of crunch to the savory paste of cooked vegetables and gochugaru (red chili) sauce. If it wasn’t clear, this galbi jjim is popular. Popular enough that there will literally always be crowds here. Sun Nong Dan is open 24 hours a day, so if you turn up at 2:30am after stumbling out of , you’ll still find a line that includes both fellow partiers and folks just getting off a late-night shift. But even if you’re coming here after a miserable 12 hours on the clock, the galbi is going to put a smile on your face. In a fun way - not the way the Joker would." - Brett Keating

The classic must-order menu at Sun Nong Dan is their Galbi Jjim. This time we try their Koh Galbi Jjim. The only difference from their regular Galbi Jjim is that this one comes with an ox tail. We got the medium size and the portion is big enough for 3 people. You get to choose if you want purple rice or white rice to come with it. You can add cheese and they will do a little show for you to record the cheese being torched in front of you, but we didn’t add any cheese this time. For the sauce, you can choose if you want it not spicy or spicy (there are 5 spiciness levels); we chose level 2 and it’s not too spicy, you can still taste the sweetness. Other than the 3 meat cuts, there are also potatoes, carrots, onion, and rice cake on this side. Overall, just a perfect combination that we can’t get enough of! My mother told us that this place has the best soup in the city. Oh boy, she wasn't lying. The selection of soup noodles is plenty! We only tried one of the beef stew. It was delicious. And they are not shy about portions as well. If you are a big eater of meat. This is your place. One can also ask for extra meat! We also ordered the $99 dollar big bowl of meat with cheese. If you order it with cheese. The guy with the flame thrower will show up to give you a show. It was more than enough for a party of 4. It can even easily feed a party of 6. The service here is fast! And they also bring you the usual Korean side dishes as well. We got three different kimchi. It would be nice if one of the side dishes is not spicy. My mom said she got different side dishes the last time she was here. It could be that they rotate them. As for the atmosphere. It is loud! They turn their Korean pop music up... Really up. Also the table arrangements are set up to fit as many customers as the restaurant can. Not an ideal place for a quiet night or even a date night. Great place for a gathering of friends and family.

It's delicious. Although I always eat the same one, I always want to come back .

"Excellent and speedy service 😌. The broth of Garbi Tang is refreshing and clean in taste, while the ribs are generously served and incredibly tender."

Google
Great for parties 4 or more. Get the cheese, it's worth it! Press the bell for great service. This location is way better than the Western Ave location near K town. Last but not least, I'm addicted to the spicy grass they serve. Update 12/09/23: Finally came here and did not get the big entree with the cheese thing. Actually got an individual soup, the honeycomb, tripe, beef soup which was medium spicy and amazing because it doesn't include noodles but comes with lots of green grass looking stuff.

I like #8 TEAUK GALBI TANG or SPECIAL BEFF SOUP 🍲 , great taste and great services I was there around 4 am and I didn't believe that it was a 24/7 Korean restaurant. Great place, definitely coming back to taste more dishes.

Google
OPEN 24 hours! Great alternative to the typical Korean BBQ and tofu joints. This place serves piping hot soups and specializes in their oxtail and brisket soups. Great banchan as well. Will definitely go back. Midnight soup cravings satisfied.

Came around midnight and there were a decent amount of people in but we were seated right away. The food was amazing. Side dishes were so tasty! We got the Galbi Jjim with cheese and rice cakes and it was perfect! We split it with 4 people and it was more than enough food for us. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Sun Nong Dan is a fantastic spot for authentic and flavorful Korean cuisine! My favorite dish is number 12, the beef brisket with dried cabbage soup. It's consistently delicious and never disappoints. The flavors are rich, and the portion size is generous. A little goes a long way when pairing with rice. You can get white or purple. I also love their sides. The kimchi is fresh and tasty, while my favorite is the leek--it tastes so good, but be prepared for your breath to reek the following day. Honestly, everything here tastes amazing; you really can't go wrong. Plus, they're open 24 hours, which makes it a great place to go after a night out when you need a midnight snack to sober up! Highly recommend trying it if you visit!

Yelp
I tried Sun Nong Dan a couple weeks ago and enjoyed the Koh Galbi Jjim with cheese and rice cake. The cheese was the best part and tbh a mandatory part of the dish but I could have skipped the rice cakes. The food is very heavy as it's basically pure meat and was easily able to feed 4 of us with leftovers to spare. The meat quality was fine but not as good as I was hoping and the main reason I'm rating this spot as 4 stars instead of 5. Parking was plentiful as the plaza has a ton of parking (although a lot of the spots are compact). Service was fine, and it took about 15 minutes after ordering for the food to be ready and torched. Overall a solid spot for a group.

Yelp
Genuinely do not know how this place has 4.3 stars. I get it, this place is open 24/7 for the convenience of people who are out late and want to grab some food but the food AND service was bad. I've been to this restaurant twice, once with another of my asian friends and recently went with my non-asian friend. I promise mentioning their ethnicity may sound irrelevant but it IS relevant. The day I brought my asian friend service was actually really nice, our server was attentive, we were seated quickly and took our orders fast, especially considering how packed this place was at the time. The service was attentive and quick in general and really nice, which was an extreme contrast to the experience I had with my non-asian friend. When I went with my non-asian friend, it took a long time for us to be seated, a long time to order (even after pressing the call button twice) and this place was NOT packed, there were a lot of empty tables and the server only spoke to me and ONLY looked at me while we were ordering/receiving the bill and NOT acknowledging my friend AT ALL. After my friend and I order and finished our meals we press the call button for the check. Not even joking, 30-40 minutes go by and we still have not received the check. First 10 minutes we call the service button twice. Then we started trying to wave down any server on the floor. They were so painfully obviously avoiding eye contact with our table. Two tables who got seated after us (who were all full of other asian customers and also had a bigger party + ordered more food) received their checks immediately after finishing their meals and I also noticed that the servers were just more attentive to them. After 10-15 minutes go by my friend decides to get up and ask one of the servers if we could get the check and they were met with an absolutely annoyed reaction from the server after saying that "he would get the check". We ended up getting our check WAY later by asking another server. After sharing my two experiences, the reason why I mention my friends ethnicities is because, as an asian woman, I know how a lot of other asian establishments act and it absolutely pisses me off. I see the drastic contrast in treatment whenever I go to an asian owned establishment with my asian friends vs non-asian friends. Why the hell are you being weird to your customers because you have some form of internalized racism. You have a business, at the end of the day you better treat your customers well to give them a good reason to come back. This unfortunately isn't the only asian-owned establishment that has straight up been distasteful but I'm actually so tired of seeing my friends get treated like this, these places are so disgusting and saying that it makes me mad is a huge understatement. This was one of those experiences where the actions I've described really doesn't even begin to explain the entire vibe of the situation. This place is only reliable if you want something to eat at ungodly hours that isn't fast food and you just need something in your body. Don't expect good food and definitely don't expect any sort of respect nonetheless some regular human decency if you're not asian. Update: After reading a lot of the reviews this isn't the first time this restaurant has had this poor treatment but also anyone saying the food is good has never eaten real food in their life.

Yelp
This place is not worth it unless you like lots of rice and soup.... My mom and I were not a fan as it felt artificial flavors in a soup + some meat. The meat is a bit tough for the teuk galbi tang and I was just not loving the flavors. Kinda also overpriced considering it's just soup ‍ - not wanting to come back

Yelp
Located in a very busy plaza. Park behind or by the building where it's usually another as crowded. No reservation was made, and there were plenty of seatings inside. Immediately greeted by one of the waiters and picked a table I wanted. The dining area was clean. The side dishes were served immediately, and there were only 3 side dishes, which is subpar compared to most places. The entre was served within a timely manner. I had the short rib beef soup. It was scrumptious as it was not too salty nor sweet, more of the natural taste. The checkout process was fast, as the waiter brought their point of sales terminal to the table. Overall, it was a pleasurable experience. I will definitely return to try their casserole next time. 4.8 out of 5.

Yelp
I came here on a weekday afternoon and was seated right away. It was not too busy and pretty quiet inside. Usually I always come and eat their galbi jjim, but today I had their galbi tang and it was so flavorful and delicious! Our food came out very quick and their side dishes were amazing as always. Definitely coming back more often to try their soups!

Ada L.

Yelp
I always come here when I'm craving some galbi tang. Literally always satisfys my craving and is the best hangover food too lol. The galbi tang is my favorite soup and galbi jjim is delicious. The portion was definitely big so it's good for 4 people. The galbi tang portion is good for 1-2 people. Service is good and glad they open late!

Yelp
Restaurant Review: Sun Nong Dan, Rowland Heights, CA. This morning I had the pleasure of dining at Sun Nong Dan in Rowland Heights, and it was a culinary experience to remember. As someone who has traveled extensively and has a passion for home-cooked inspired Korean cuisine, I can confidently say that Sun Nong Dan offers some of the best Korean beef rib and soup dishes I've ever tasted. The quality of the food was exceptional. Every dish (banchan) was bursting with authentic flavors and carefully prepared to perfection. The food presentation was equally impressive, with each dish looking as good as it tasted. The timing of the meal was spot on, ensuring that each course was served at the optimal temperature and freshness. One minor critique was the initial wait to be given a menu and have my order taken, which took seven minutes. Reducing this wait time to around three minutes would enhance the overall dining experience. However, once the order was placed, the service was efficient, attentive, and borderline phenomenal. One Korean saying that perfectly captures my dining experience today is: "뜨거운 맛있는 음식을 주신 하나님과 요리사에게 감사드립니다" (Thankful to God and the cooks for these delicious hot foods). This sentiment rings true for my experience at Sun Nong Dan today, where the warmth and richness of the home style food made the wait worthwhile. Overall, Sun Nong Dan is a gem in Rowland Heights. For anyone looking to enjoy high-quality, home-cooked inspired Korean cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit. Jordan

Yelp
Came here around 6 ishh on a monday, parking was pretty tight bc the complex has a bunch of stuff and its right across from baekjong which is also rly popular. We ordered 2 of their large galbi jjims to share for 9 people? One we got level 4 spice and other 0, so jus soy. The two galbijjims came with 8 rices so prob 4 per, and we all got purple rice. Their banchan is kimchi, kimchi radish and kimchi chives(?). It is all unlimited too. The level 4 spice was too spicy for us tbh or for most of us, i feel like our spice tolerance isnt too bad but its also decent, so i recommend getting 3 or less if u want to enjoy it but with a little spice lol. The no spice one was pretty good tho. It comes with some carrots, potatoes tteok and the galbi obvi. The galbi is some big bone in pieces and some thin all meat + fat pieces. It was pretty tender but not suppperrr tender to fall right off the bone but that was fine. Flavor was pretty good too so it was good. Service was alright, they werent very welcoming or super friendly but its whatever bc i didnt expect much lol. Pricing i dont completely remember how much it all was but i think the total was about 200+ but for 9 people + we had a good amount of leftovers i think that was decent.

Yelp
I'm delighted that I finally got the chance to try this place and order the galbijjjim! We visited on a weekday for lunch, and there was plenty of seating available, with parking being hassle-free as well. The restaurant had a bright atmosphere, and it was evident that everyone was thoroughly enjoying their food. The service was mediocre and they had an attitude when they messed up our orders. The food was great though! Opting for the medium size for our group of 3, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had plenty of leftovers to take home. We decided to splurge on adding cheese (very overpriced at $8) on top, as it pairs exceptionally well with the dish. It's always fun to watch them torch the cheese on top when they bring the food out. I appreciated that they provided a bowl of rice for each diner and offered the choice between white or purple rice. The side dishes served were a perfect complement to the meal. Don't forget to check in for a free soda! I'm already looking forward to returning to try their soups as well.

Yelp
Sun Nong Dan is the spot for Korean comfort food! This spot is located in a very busy plaza with a bunch of other food places. Parking can get hectic and may take a while to find so be prepared for that. My party arrived around 7:30pm for dinner and were seated right away. There's so much to choose from on the menu but we opted for the Teuk Galbi Tang and Galbi Jjim with cheese as recommended by our server Jusang. The cheese is an extra $8 add on but it really compliments the dish so well and makes for the perfect bite. All of the meat they serve here are so tender and fall off the bone. The broth from the teuk galbi tang was so hearty and rich. Both of the dishes we had came with such generous portions that we could barely finish! Overall, this spot was so satisfying and worth trying. All of the staff here are beyond welcoming and professional. Special shout out to our server Jusang who took care of us all night and was so attentive to everything we needed. This is a great spot to come with some friends and/or family to share some delicious Korean comfort food! Stop by here for a meal and you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
If you're a fan of Korean food and in the Rowland Heights area (and don't want to trek all the way to LA K-Town), Sun Nong Dan is a must-visit spot. The fact that it's open 24 hours is a big plus, making it a perfect choice for late-night cravings, early morning meals (and anywhere in between). My absolute favorite dish here is the GALBI JJIM. For those unfamiliar, Galbi Jjim is a delicious Korean braised short rib dish, slow-cooked to perfection with a savory and slightly sweet soy-based sauce. It's not cheap, at around $85 for the smallest size, but trust me, it's worth every penny. The portion is quite generous, and if you're just two people, it can easily feed you for a few additional days. There are five or six spice levels to choose from. I usually go for level 4 (spicy), which packs quite a punch! If you're into cheese, you have the option to order it with cheese, but I personally prefer it without it. A little insider tip: if you do a Yelp check-in via the app, you can usually score a free drink or soda, which is a nice perk. If you're in the mood for something a bit less heavy, their menu also offers a variety of soups. I highly recommend the ox bone soup with beef brisket (Chadol Sulung Tang). It's a hearty and comforting choice that's perfect for a lighter meal. Probably one of my top 5 places to dine at. Highly recommend! They have a few other locations, so if any of them are nearer to you, give it a try (I've also been to the K-Town location, which is equally as good).

Skye S D.

Yelp
glad 2 know theres an azn eatery open 24/7 inda RH area ~ been here bout a dozen times & usually order their galbi tang (beef short rib soup) or teuk galbi tang (special beef back rib & short rib soup) along w koh galbi jjim (braised beef short ribs & oxtail) w cheese & rice cake, in which they torch up upon serving (alwayz order large portion) da food itself is pretty good, tho pricey (bout $215 w/o drinks) but i wish da service were more attentive, as 1/2 da times they r not even really bz

Melisa A.

Yelp
Not going to lie, I've only ever ordered one thing the many times I've been here: the galbi jjim. I'm sure they have other delicious things on the menu, but the galbi jjim is the main and only reason I visit. It's so iconic and must try. The meat is perfectly braised and so tender, it's spicy, the potatoes and rice cakes are soft and chewy. The only negative thing I'll say is adding the cheese is ridiculously pricey. At the time of my last visit, the melted cheese add-on was $8! Anyway, highly recommend this place. Parking is awful here, the spaces are pretty small and drivers could care less about other drivers, so just be aware of that.

Jessica Y.

Yelp
My friend and I had a late-night craving for some Korean food and fortunately Sun Nong Dan is open 24 hours! Even at 2 AM there were still several parties eating, which goes to show how great the food is. We ordered the galbi tang and yuk gae jang which comes with a side of white or brown/purple rice. The broth was so flavorful and comforting, and totally hit the spot! This spot seems to be popular for galbi jjim, but I would probably bring a bigger party with me to try it. The service was excellent and everyone was super friendly even though it was the middle of the night! I'm so glad I don't need to drive all the way to Koreatown and fight for parking for some good Korean food.

Brandon P.

Yelp
SND is perfect after a long day or night as the soup heals the soul so well. Service is quick and very accommodating. Our entire table got the Galbi Tang and we all devoured it.

Tram D.

Yelp
10/10 for hours. The only place open after midnight which is great if you have a late night craving or working late hours at the fair. That being said, I hope they can add some more variety in food. Most of the food selections are soup base. I really wanted rice and glad that the soup I order came with it. But the soup selections weren't that great in terms of variety. My friend got a basic one and it was very bland. The one I order was spicy but very green. They just added the dumpling which were so good we order 2 order of it. I highly recommend getting it. Honestly, they had a new dumpling soup too which I regret not getting. If you are a fan of soup based entrée then this is for you. Be wary of the price point because it is a little pricey! Was so hungry that the only picture I took was the dumplings.

Joyce K.

Yelp
Nothing but good stuff to write about. Open 24/7 (THANK YOU Q__Q), good portions (one bowl is about 2 portions, so you can split with another person), and there are LOTS of meat in the tta roh guk bap. Literally had one piece of meat per bite, but still had more left at the end.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Sun Nong Dan is a Korean foodie's dream! The koh galbi jjim with braised short ribs, back ribs, and oxtail in a stone bowl was a flavor symphony worthy of all the hype!! The braised short ribs were tender and savory, the back ribs were juicy and succulent, and the oxtail was rich and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The flame-torched cheese on top of this meal added a creamy, indulgent layer to the dish. ...And don't get me started on the banchan--fresh pickled veggies, spicy, and perfectly balanced. If you're reading this and wondering if you should try this place out, don't hesitate! Sun Nong Dan is a must-try for anyone craving authentic Korean cuisine. *We got the M size, which is more than enough for 2-3 people. My gf and I had plenty of leftovers but that is no problem to us to enjoy at home

Wai C.

Yelp
My go-to soup at this restaurant is the Teuk Galbi Tang. Flavor is on point, so rich and delicious. My friends ordered Tta Roh Guk Bap and Yuk Gae Jang. They both liked it very much, and it's not too spicy for them. The restaurant is clean, restroom is tidy. Services are decent. They do come back and check on you a few times to make sure everything is ok.

Kevin L.

Yelp
It was difficult from the Korean restaurant that I usually visit. Most of the personal dish was soup with a serving of steam rice. My friend had orded a #2 which was Chadol Sulung Tang, Ox bone soup with beef brisket. Served with noodles. The broth was slightly white and had no seasoning. Salt and green onion was provided on the side. My boy had ordered Yuk Gae Jang. Spicy beef and leek soup. It was good and spicy, We had also orded one of the specialty Galbi Jjim which was a big plate of ribs, bone, ox tail and brisket on a stone warm plate with some potato and it was tasty. Service was adequate.

Anny V.

Yelp
Anytime of the day... different vibes. came here @ lunch and 4.30 am - different types of ambiance music but good - fast service and catering to all our needs. Yummy food for anytime of the day

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Perfect place for a late night meal with friends! We ordered the medium Galbi Jjim with cheese and mild spice level ($84.99). Other than the meat, I love the rice cake and potato pieces in the dish. The service was also really great! The waitress was nice enough to come by and cut off the meat on the bone for us! I have been to Sun Non Dong several times but it was the first time a worker did that for us which I really appreciated. They also served us hot tea instead of water which I liked as well.

Jessica J.

Yelp
****check in-- free soda**** (coke/sprite/Diet Coke/orange fanta/ginger ale) We got the Medium #25 for 2 people and it was so much food left over. We got the cheese option. The cheese was so good! Stringy and not too cheesy taste. There was rice cakes, cabbage, potatoes, ox tail, short ribs, back ribs. All the flavors balanced together. Nothing was over powering, nothing too salty either. We opted for 2 for spiciness. Service was quick and attentive. Restrooms were clean. Parking is in a parking center.

Yong C.

Yelp
Don't order ttaro guk Bap to go. Glad it wasn't my wife or kid chewing on this. I been going here over 10 yrs please don't use metal scrubbers. I thought it was a hard stem then I thought maybe it's hair.

Janet K.

Yelp
3 1/2 stars. The beef rib plate is much better than when they first opened. Much more tender now. Get it with the oxtail. So good. Wish they had a few more things to pair with the huge ribs dish other than soup but thank goodness for the banchans. Banchans were Korean mom and grandma approved.

Audrienne S.

Yelp
Koh Galbi Jjim 5/5 Dduk Guk 5/5 We come for the Galbi Jjim or the Koh Galbi JJim. The Koh Galbi Jjim has braised short ribs, back ribs, and oxtail. The Galbi Jjim is the Koh sans the oxtail. You must order these dishes with the additional rice cakes and the cheese. The cheese is melted tableside with a blowtorch! These stews are hearty, savory, and delicious. The meat is so tender that it falls off the bone. We ordered a medium, but it also comes in a large! The medium was definitely enough for four people. My husband loves to order the Dduk Guk which is a Korean rice cake soup. It's somehow a simple soup that is still rich and flavorful. The broth screams cozy and homemade. I love the kimchi selection they have too! It's usually cabbage, green onion, and radish. My favorite is the radish. Make sure to come with an empty stomach and be ready to eat when you come to Sun Nong Dan!

Joreen C.

Yelp
We came here when it was 3-4am and I was so happy to hear a korean spot was 24/7. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my oxbone soup, though I think I should've ordered their star dish - galbijjim. My husband's spicy beef and cabbage soup was a lot more flavorful however at the prices we paid (I do understand 24/7 operating costs) it was not worth it. The bone broth lacked flavour I dumped heaps of salt (I usually prefer blander foods, so imagine) but the dumplings were fire - really good, but nothing to shout about (like Costco bibigo ones). I will try this place again for galbijjim but for the price I reckon I can find a better place!

Amenda L.

Yelp
FOOD So delicious. I always get the #7 galbi Tang and on special occasions the galbi Jim. 1. The glabi tang is PERFECTLY seasoned. You do not need to add salt to it at all. The beef is tender, the broth is clean with a rich beefy flavor, and the noodles are slippery and chewy. This is the perfect soup to have when feeling sick or wanting to celebrate. It is expensive don't get me wrong but what I do to make myself feel better is to eat a bunch of bonchan to offset the cost (plus the bonchon is also DELICIOUS) 2. Galbi Jim best to share with friends and is the perfect heavy comforting meal to have. You'll constantly be going back to eat the perfect bite (rice cake, potatoes, cheese, and beef). It pairs perfectly with rice and the bonchon, and there is literally not a single piece of beef that is not fall off the bone tender and delicious 3. Bonchon so they do not have the widest selection. Only kimchi, radish kimchi, and Chive kimchi but it is delicious and the jalapeño/ onion dipping sauce they give with the galbi tang is the perfect bright flavor to compliment the rest of the meal AMBIANCE It is a cozy store full of family, couples, and friends. I really like how warm and bustling it can be SERVICE In my experience it is excellent. Everyone works extremely fast and are constantly trying to make sure people are seated and fed as fast as possible. Also, all the servers are always walking around the store to ensure they are visible and available in case diners need something

Christina T.

Yelp
Always a tried and true restaurant for late night munchies! The food is always good if you're craving late night Korean soups. My go tos are always the number 1 or number 13! I do wish they had smaller portions of the galbi jim that's good for 2 people. Ambiance is loud as there are usually bigger groups coming in late night and service is hit or miss. But food never disappoints!

Yelp
Have been wanting to come here for awhile now, but never did until we visited Korea, and CRAVED for galbi tang! This place is open 24/7. We went on a Saturday morning, and didn't have to wait. This place is well lit and clean. Servers were helpful and friendly. The brown rice paired wonderfully with the PIPING HOT soup. Delicious!!!! I think I've found our new favorite Korean spot. The Oo Guh Ji Galbi Tang was delicious. The meat was well seasoned and melted in my mouth. Be careful to not scorch your tongue like I did, but sooooo worth it! They offer hot barley tea, too. Loved this place. Will most definitely be back! Parking available, but I can see it being super busy on normal business hours because of the many restaurants sharing the same parking lot.

Yelp
The classic must-order menu at Sun Nong Dan is their Galbi Jjim. This time we try their Koh Galbi Jjim. The only difference from their regular Galbi Jjim is that this one comes with an ox tail. We got the medium size and the portion is big enough for 3 people. You get to choose if you want purple rice or white rice to come with it. You can add cheese and they will do a little show for you to record the cheese being torched in front of you, but we didn't add any cheese this time. For the sauce, you can choose if you want it not spicy or spicy (there are 5 spiciness levels); we chose level 2 and it's not too spicy, you can still taste the sweetness. Other than the 3 meat cuts, there are also potatoes, carrots, onion, and rice cake on this side. Overall, just a perfect combination that we can't get enough of! Yelp
We just got the Koh Galbi Jjim - braised beef short ribs, back rib & ox tail which is $99 before tax and tip. Despite the hefty price, I would get the Galbi Jjim again because everything about it was delicious and it was a big portion for at least 3 people (or 2 really big dudes). Banchan were also very tasty. Service could be better. Food didn't take long to bring out but they never checked on us afterwards. Lots of seating but this place is very popular so it's best to come outside peak hours if possible.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Best banChan from a restaurant I've had in my life LOLL My bf and I came really late at night around 12am and there was still a line! Very lively. After about a 30 minute wait we were seated and were helped quickly! Good service. Food was sooooooo good! But THE SIDES. I could literally jsut eat rice and the kimchi and radish kimchi and be content. If you love radish kimchi I hope they make it when you come bc it's so big and perfectly crispy and fermented and spicy and MMMMMM Ok so for the actual food, the soup was very good! Pricey if you think it's "just soup", but it's worthwhile! Sorta sharable? It's a large portion, but not sure if it's quite enough for two people. Overall very good and I'm so happy we found this place!! Would definitely come back :)

Yelp
Sun Nong Dan is always a go to for larger groups! I always get the Galbi Jjim and it's always so satisfying and filling. The portions are large and feed many. If you get the cheese, you also get a fun fire show too! We were seated pretty fast for our meal and food came out pretty soon after. Sun nong dan is a staple for me!

Yelp
I always come here after a snowboarding trip with friends and the Galbi Jim always slaaaappssss! We order a large for 5 ppl and it's totally enough. Parking can be rough on the weekends but keep circling and you can find a spot. Order purple rice ALWAYS. The lady here is very sweet!

Yelp
It's really bzy here the food was pretty good. I like #8. It had flavor and they gave you enough portion even for to go. The service is quick and everyone was helpful with my order. The inside was a bit small and remind me ofnkorea lol. There is plenty of parking space.

Yelp
This is the first time I've ever ordered the galbi jjim with no cheese and it seems so pure to me. It wasn't heavy at all and I could really appreciate the flavor of the meat and veggies in the marinade. That said, I do love it with cheese, but if I don't want something heavy I'll opt out of it next time considering it does cost $8 extra. I also tried the Ox Bone Soup with Beef Brisket and it was such a comforting dish. I salted it to my preference and added a heap of green onion. It was my first time trying the Beef Short Rib Soup with Dried Cabbage, however, and I loved it. I was so surprised by the depth of flavor of the broth and the tender pieces of meat that were inside. I may also be biased because I love cabbage in soup since it soaks up all of the flavor. We tried using the button to call for the waiters but it didn't work so it's better to wave them over. They were quick in accommodating our requests and we all checked in on Yelp so they gave us a free soda!

Yelp
Omg I'm coming back. The soups were REALLY good and they weren't salty. I think some may be on the sweeter side but very good. Please get the galbijeem with the ox tail because it is sooo tender and flavorful. Would recommend with large parties since they give big portions! I admire the vintage korean styled design and service was fairly fast. Would recommend !

Yelp
This 24/7 Korean soup restaurant is a hidden gem. Located within a bunch of eateries, including AYCE kbbq next to it, parking can be hectic during its peak times. Inside is inviting where the server station is right in the middle. You do get the usual side dishes like kimchi and variety of veggies. Rice is either: traditional white or purple Those who are familiar with BCD Tofu and Kaju soft tofu, there's not much to say of choosing: either soup or one of their specialities entrees but here are the differences: - no chili mark means there's not even a hint of spice - Yelp check in for free "can" soda (save $2) - there is "soy" spice level if you cannot handle even a drop of spice #24 and #25 are similar due to being over $50 except #25 has oxtail. Cheese is an optional to have (but it's recommended to have cheese on meat). Both have a medium and large portion. Large can fed up to 4 people and it's huge plate (it takes time to prepare that plate). However, both pulls in the show where your server heats the item in front of you (very cool) Order #9 extreme and #25 large. The soup comes in bowling hot because you can tell if bubbles are still there as soon it arrives. Extreme spice level is recommend to those who can either handle spicy or can handle ghost pepper. #25 is so huge for one person because the dish also has giant rice cakes as noodles. Don't worry...you can take it to go if you can't finish it. Overall, attentive service and food is very good. Highly recommend if you are in the mood for something late...other than pho

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. I used to come here every weekend until I moved out of the area. Though, I will still travel a bit farther just to eat here. Sun Nong Dan specializes in variety of Sul Lung Tang (ox bone soup) and Galbi Jjim (braised beef short ribs). They have four locations of Sun Nong Dan in SoCal: two in Koreatown LA, Rowland Heights, and San Gabriel. My go to soups are the #1 Sul Lung Tang beef soup (clean broth) and the #7 Galbi Tang (more flavorful), along with the purple rice. If I am here with a group of 4+, we will usually order the Galbi Jim with cheese to share as well. As with most Korean restaurants, they will offer side dishes, and Sun Nong Dan provides three. The Kim Chi here is my favorite - it's not overly spicy or fermented. Just the right about of spice and crisp. The servers at Sun Nong Dan are never more than a bell ring away. The staff is attentive, friendly, and happy to guide you through the menu, especially if you're new to Korean cuisine. I can't wait to return for another mouthwatering meal at Sun Nong Dan.

Yelp
So glad there are restaurants open 7/24. I needed something hot early AM on my way back home to LV on a cold and rainy day. The food and service was good as usual.

Yelp
I got the #10 Soup that included the Beef Short Rib, Ox Knee, and Ox Tail. I really loved how healthy and clean the broth tasted. It comes unsalted and I really like that you got to season it to your liking, and it really does make a difference. While I'm not a huge fan of how gelatinous the Ox Knee was, I absolutely loved the Ox Tail and Short Rib, especially the Short Rib. It was extremely tender and really easy to get off the bone compared to the Ox Tail. It made me wish that I just got one of the Short Ribs soup instead.

Yelp
Good food as usual. Good price for "breakfast special". Hard to find good yummy fulfilling meal and deal price nowadays. At $11.99 is a great deal. Choose from 4 choices of the menu. I like the spicy #13 - Yuk Gae Jang. Non Spciy can choose Sulung Tang. This time we chose #12 & #13. Today, both soup really kicked in the tummy, spicy and oily. Even the kimchi is on spicier side. I can tolerate spicy. Service is always good and fast, especially for a 24hrs restaurant. Complimentary hot tea. Free soda with Yelp Check-in.

Yelp
This is a perfect soup spot to try out when it's cold at night! We got their beef soup and spicy beef soup and they tasted amazing. I like how they let us adjust the amount of salt we wanted and the soup paired so well with their banchan. The staff were friendly and helped us out since it was my first time here.

Yelp
100% recommend this place. First time trying and it was delicious. The breakfast option allows you to pick #1, #4, #12, #13 from 6 am to 10:30 am for a really reasonable price. Also you can check in through Yelp for a free can of soda (Coke, Ginger Ale, etc.) Also had #8 (Galbi Tang) which was not a part of the breakfast option but that was delicious. Service was great. Mom really liked one of the sauces that was used for dipping with onions and jalapeño and they were so kind that they gave it to us to go. The place is spacious and has some good seating options. Parking pretty easy, being next to several other Korean restaurants in the food plaza. Would love to come back here -- maybe I'll come back even the same day for the 갈비찜 (galbi jimm) that everyone is raving about!

Yelp
When I went, the hours were pretty late but I am seeing that it is 24/7 so it is a big bonus for those late night meals or perfect meal for after a concert. The food is a bit spicy for me but the waiters are attentive or they give you a bottle of water if your group is pretty big. This dish feeds a lot of people and it is pretty flavor and will get everyone full. Do recommend getting the cheese if you don't like spicy because it helps with the spice. Overall pretty good experience

Yelp
The dining experience, including both the food and service, was commendable during my recent visit with my brother. We enjoyed a total of $147 worth of food. Upon settling the bill, I opted to leave a 1% gratuity, as I typically do not adhere to the practice of tipping. Regrettably, the server approached us in a confrontational manner, expressing dissatisfaction with the gratuity amount and insisting on reporting it to the management. Despite affirming the quality of service received, the server persisted in questioning my tipping practices before abruptly departing. This encounter significantly detracted from my overall impression of the establishment. As a frequent customer, I feel compelled to relay my feedback directly to the management. It is my belief that fair compensation for your staff should be facilitated through adequate wages, rather than relying on discretionary tips tied to customer satisfaction. This incident marks the first instance of such discomfort experienced at any establishment. I trust that steps will be taken to ensure a more respectful and professional approach towards customers, fostering a positive atmosphere for all costumers.

Yelp
Today we were invited to a new restaurant and experience. We ordered the Koh Galbi Jjim with cheese. They melted the cheese at our table with a blow torch. The braised short ribs and other meats were absolutely delicious. The meat fell off the bone. Awesome broth. Perfect for a rainy SoCal day. They served us different kimchis which were also very good. My favorite was the radish. Fantastic and friendly service. Nice ambiance to go with our perfect meal.

Yelp
Come hungry, leave satisfied! The Koh Galbi Jjim is a massive, meaty, savory dish that does not disappoint. Top it with cheese to get the full (you and the dish) experience. The large size could easily feed a family of 4 by itself. The Teuk Galbi Tang has a wonderful, delicate taste that warms the soul. I want this in heaven. Prompt courteous service in a non fussy setting. Come with your friends, come with your family. Savor life.
