We were a bit disappointed with the meal we had. I had a burrito. It was pretty much flavorless. If you like plain rice we’ll order this. Wife had fish tacos. Fish they used was very fishy tasting. Garfish??? Gosh I hope not. Idk. It she said it was bad.

This is definitely a hidden gem. We were able to decorate the back room for a private event. The food and drinks were amazing. The staff is polite and friendly. Our server Wayne was knowledgeable, attentive, and just all around awesome. Very nice atmosphere. Everyone had an amazing time.

Always a great experience! The redfish Almandine is scrumptious. The ribs are great, the poke bowl super. Can’t wait to try new happy hour.

Sun Ray Grill is a tucked away gem. With unique and tasteful menu options, this place is a go to for lunch and dinner. Each and every countless visit the service, food and atmosphere has been great. The Salads, mushrooms fries, brussel sprouts, Bangkok roll and duck are among my top food favorites. This place is a must if you have never been. Not many places serve fresh ice tea with fresh mint. Ask for Emily or TJ.

Delicious dueling tomato salad with shrimp and even better fish tacos. Was surprised by how good everything turned out.

The food was amazing. My dressing under the salmon on the Orleans plate was a little salty. But I love the fact that there are so many choice for fish.

My first time here and we got salads, it was very pleasant, and relaxing atmosphere I've heard many good things about this place. ..Definitely will come back to try other items on the menu 😋

This place is fantastic. Very clean, great ambiance and they had Sinatra playing. Food was fresh and hot and delicious, did I mention clean? Polished silverware. An attention to detail I appreciate.

Happened on this place on a Sunday while visiting another tenant in the stripmall. Was their first Sunday to be open and we were happy they were. Plenty of seating, lots of lighting. Comfortable but classy atmosphere, with football on the TV in the dining room. (Welcome to Louisiana!) Owner took our drink and food orders (we were ready! - we had already previewed the menu on Yelp) and everything was delivered quickly. Husband had the Smokey Mountain Burger ($16), medium, with fries. The fries were crispy and the burger was so good! I'm not a big burger fan, but it was cooked just right and had plenty of flavor. I opted for the Thai riblets app ($14) which was served with a small side of their slaw and the "fried" Brussel sprouts app ($10). O...M...G! The sprouts came with a side dressing of mayo/lemon/garlic (?), of which I was not a fan; eat them plain - you'll be glad you did. Slaw was great - not too much mayonnaise - but I scraped off the seasoning topping because it was too salty for me. Thai riblets were fall-off-the-bone good without being over seasoned/sauced. We finished my husband's burger then took my leftovers home. They reheated very well. It's not the cheapest place, but we felt like we got our money's worth from our meal and would totally return. There's some other things on that menu calling our names. :)

Tried this place again for the first time in years. Takeout. Service was friendly. But perhaps the place was completely empty at noon on a Saturday because the food is high for what you get. $11 for two, small, greasy yet also burned goat cheese fritters. And I'm ashamed to admit how much the salad that was almost all spinach leaves with exactly 5 shrimp (added on for $10, my bad for not asking how many were included but come on) cost me in total. So. I'm sure other people dig this place, they've been around a long time, but nah.

Food was hot and tasty service was impeccable. The chef also gives the nurses a discount every so often.

The best grilled shrimp I have EVER had came atop a salad with fried green tomatoes, avacado slides, arugula, black beans, and corn. It was SOOO good! The service was attentive and the kitchen and grill area was visible when you enter. I would love to go back next time I'm in New Orleans.

Excellent choice on the West Bank of New Orleans. Appetizers, entree and dessert were 10's.

how disappointing i thought i was getting shrimp and crap artichoke ravioli and I got shrimp and crab and artichoke over penne pasta I see on the menu that that is correct. I misread it. I talk to the manager, but he was like oh no sorry I spent $115 one entrée three drinks food they're usually good but this time how disappointing the cook came up with the plate and it was good to go order and then he just dumps it and it's a go foam container how disappointing after being snowed in for three days I'll get a crap entrée and I don't even get a salad. Haven't eaten inside this place yet so I can't speak to the atmosphere or table service but I've always wanted to try the food here because I've seen friends stop by to eat here. I had the bacon and Brie burger, which is right up my alley and it was pretty good. The fries weren't my favorite and the Brussels sprouts were surprisingly very salty. It's a convenient location so I'm open to trying this spot again but it didn't wow me to start.

The food here is always fairly good, but make sure you have a current menu. I checked the menu on Yelp and ordered a chicken salad and a side of brussel sprouts for lunch one day. When i arrived to pick up my lunch, i was told the total was $33. I was shocked. The salad was okay...not so large though. The brussel sprouts were nothing special.

What a gem to have if close by. Great menu and setting that you would not expect from a strip center restaurant. Nice decor inside. Attentive staff. Lots of themed nights like wine night and steak night to keep things fresh. For apps we had the Portobello Fries, Thai Ribs, Crawfish Bread and Smoked Chicken Nachos. Everyone enjoyed them. For dinner I had the Redfish Special of the evening and it was outstanding. Enjoy. You will not be disappointed!

My daughter had the kids chicken and mac. Very bland. My wife had the Thai chicken. Also dry. My $39 filet came out rare instead of medium, and it took 20 minutes to re-fire the same steak. I was able to eat after the entire table was finished. It's been 7 years because of a bad experience and it will be another 7 years. Also, the microwave was a main tool sitting next to the kitchen.

Nice little restaurant. Lots of parking, very quiet. We went for lunch and there was only about 3 other customers. The kids were able to draw on the table which was my favorite part to keep the kids busy. My son got a nice sized chicken strips kids meal I got a cheeseburger which was yummy! Homemade pickles!!! Hubby got poke bowl which his only complaint was they're seared the tuna. But it was still yummy. Will definitely be back! Staff was friendly too

Food and service were excellent! We had not been to Sun Ray in quite some time and really enjoyed our visit.

Enjoyed our lunch at Sun Ray Grill so much. She had the Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad, and I had the Jumbo Grilled Gulf Shrimp, with Lump Crab Meat, Olives, Artichoke, and Fresh Pasta. Wow what a great combination of tastes! Every ingredient is So Fresh and delicious. I really didn't expect to eat it all but couldn't help myself. Got another order to go for Matthew and Sofia. If you've never tried SUN RAY GRILL, do it real soon. This place has some really SPECIAL Flavors coming from their kitchen. This is what I miss about Louisiana, the food is Second To None!!!

Tapas Tuesday was Great. Food was wonderful as always. Service was very pleasant. Sun Ray is a very nice place . I will be back soon.

One of the best restaurants for the Westbank always has a lot of variety and great multicultural fusion food

We have only ordered food to-go from here, but it's always been fantastic. My favorite is the pecan crusted chicken salad. Super delicious. Orders are prepared accurately and quickly.

We had a great experience at Sun Ray Grill. The Sheephead Almondine and Sheephead in lemon Butter sauce were both excellent dishes my wife and I shared. The service is top notch. The atmosphere is pleasant, elegant, and unassuming. I recommend this restaurant as worthy of a trip across the Mississippi River for the East Bankers, as it is a treasured secret among West Bankers.

Food was great! I tried the oyster bread & shrimp crab & olive pasta. Menu items are very unique. Cool atmosphere. I will definitely return to try more.

My first visit. Definitly, an older establishment needing updating. The floors on entrance of restaurant were greasy. glad they had the rugs down. Staff was very nice. All of the appetizers were amazing. We tried several entrees and they were delicious. . The only one that was dissappointing was the "crispy duck". It was bland and overfried. (Not even convinced it was duck). The side was strange and covered with a syrup like substance. I would definitely buy again but just not the duck.

Upscale lunch spot for the west bank. But food is great. Service is quick and friendly. Lots of repeat customers here. The lunch tuna dish is awesome. But again so is their wraps and the burger and the salads. Cool spot for a business lunch

I had the Burger of the day, cooked medium, it was blood rare and the bottom bun was soaked in grease. I was in the midst of conversation with my girlfriend and ate 1/2. The fries were also soaked in grease and cold. My Gfs 'Poblano rice' was cold and tasteless. I spent that day and all next day ill and in the bathroom.

Decided to stop in and check this place out while we were in town. LOVED the food and atmosphere so much we made dinner reservations for the next night. The staff there couldn't have been more friendly. The duck was amazing, Braised Ribs, well everything we had was delicious. Will definitely be eating here more often when in town.

Phenom.nom.nom.nom.nom. I enjoyed the Avery Island Duck. The duck skin was crisp the meat was succulent. The Tasso spinach was very good. The sweet pepper jelly was a perfect glaze for the duck; however, I would ask for the jelly on the side, as it doesn't take much jelly for me to enjoy this dish.

Was really disappointed in this place. It has great reviews with a good looking menu & good looking pictures. When we got there we were seated immediately. But as our dining experience continued our service really slowed down. I got the tacos & the presentation was pretty. The fish of the day was red fish so it was red fish tacos. Tacos were ok. The beans on the side were not too great. The price was too high for something that was just ok. I wouldn't come back

Me and a coworker had lunch there last Thursday....the food was tasteless and was cold...I had the quesadillas. The owner Tommy did not give a shit. I will never go back....

After searching for a place to have dinner I settled on n this place. Doesn't look like much but I'm not here for the show, I'm here for the food. As I walk up I notice white table cloths. Okay, this must be a high end restaurant in a strip mall?! Idk, but let's try it. I ordered the redfish almodine. Almond crusted, Butter seared, redfish with asparagus and potatoes. The plate came out and it was unappealing to say the least. As I am a advocate for deceiving looks, I dig in. First bite came with thinly sliced almonds and redfish. Hmmm. The almond was good but the fish bland. I try another without the sliced almond.. nope. Under seasoned and very disappointing. The fish was dry. Overcooked. The butter was black. Burnt. The asparagus was cooked perfect. So cudoos to that!! Well done. The potatoes were slightly undercooked and still had a raw potato taste. I then add salt. Another bite. Add pepper. Another bite. Add salt again!! Another bite. Add pepper again!! Another bite. I gave up as I picked pieces of fish scales out of my mouth. For a $60 plate this was the worst food I've had in a very long time. I will absolutely not be coming back here. Hope anyone else's experience is much better than mine. But don't expect a great meal although the price indicates it should be.

In town for work and coworkers recommended this place and I can see why. Their dueling fried green tomato salad and Athena chicken were absolutely delicious. Service is quick and very friendly. Look forward to visiting this place a few more times before I leave.

Wow, fourth time I have been fooled into eating at this place. Love fish tacos until I had them at this place. Everything on the plate including the guacamole was bad. I normally don't write bad reviews but this place is not good according to my taste. Do yourself a favor and try taco bell it is very close and much better.

The Hoke Poke (13.50$) is a three bite stack of spicy tuna, avocado, mango, and almonds. It comes with more wonton than you can use. The sauce on the spicy tuna makes the dish. It's like a sesame ginger teriyaki sauce (?). The appetizer is good but not worth 14$. It's not on the menu anymore, but the crawfish bread is amazing ! If you get the chance to order it, don't hesitate. Thai Chicken (15$) is two grilled chicken breast brushed with a Thai BBQ sauce and served with coconut rice and Italian dressing drenched cucumbers. The chicken is succulent and the sauce isn't bad. It's a little sweet. The coconut rice is good. Just the perfect aroma of coconut. Italian dressing drench cucumbers do not go with the dish. Sesame crusted Ahi Tuna (22$). Fish is cooked to your liking. I like med-rare or even rare. The ginger, soy, teriyaki (?) sauce makes the dish. Comes with coconut rice and the Italian dressing drenched cucumbers again (& doesn't go with this dish either). Grilled Fish Tacos (19.50). It's not even typical because the $$ spent is not worth this dish. You only get two tacos. unless you're rich with a gastric sleeve, you'll be broke and hungry. Avery Island Duck (23$). Outstanding dish. Two pieces of duck on top of the spinach and Tasso dressing. The pepper jelly sauce is used to decorate the plate but next time I'll ask for it on the side because it is a little more sweet than I prefer. Be careful when ordering from the "fresh fish" menu. The server did not give us a price check & when the bill came out the fish dish was (I think) 30$. Expensive for a typical serving size of salmon. I forgot which preparation my friend picked. I tried it, but forgot too.

Considering that I live literally down the street from this place, it's amazing I have never been here until today. I always passed it and I guess I assumed that it was just a little dinky cafe. Uh...I was wrong. I stopped in today for lunch. There was no wait and I was quickly seated. I had sneaked a peek of the menu online, and to my amazement, I saw that they have a Cuban sandwich! I have been searching for a freaking Cuban sandwich on the Westbank for YEARS! I decided to get the Cubano and I had the jalapeño cheese grits as my side. I thought I would go a little exotic and a little Southern for lunch today. The sandwich was so good and did not disappoint. It was the right kind of bread and pressed to perfection. It could have used a BIT more mustard (I'm a freak for the stuff), but other than that it was a winner. The grits were good as well. Nice and creamy and not spicy at all with a lot of flavor. I also liked that I got a big portion of them and I had enough leftovers for a nice munch later on. Another thing I noticed that this place has margaritas that aren't made from a mix- something else I have been scouring the Westbank for! I didn't get one today, but I will definitely go back and try one, as they are only $5- "all day, every day" is what it says on the menu. Also, on Wednesday nights bottled wine is 20% off. What a little gem of a place this turned out to be! I will absolutely go back and explore more of the menu.

My wife and I had passed by Sun Ray several times and wanted to try it, but the timing was always off. We finally got the chance for an early dinner last week while running errands. It was well worth the time! We both started with cocktails, which were well crafted and refreshing. The feta cheese appetizer was super tasty with good sized portions accompanied by fresh warm bread. We had trouble deciding on entrees so we got three items, with plenty to take home for lunch the next day. I had the Cubano, which was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just as it should be. My wife had the fish tacos, which were made with grilled redfish - delicious and light, but still filling. Finally, staying with the Latin theme, we split the fresh gulf shrimp quesadillas. They came with a zippy dip and we're super tasty. Our server was excellent and made several on the money suggestions. We will definitely be returning!

After being temporarily "cheeseburger restaurant-less", since Sun Ray on Annunciation Street closed down; we decided to try this location. The menu is very, very similar. We had "shrimp tempura", cole slaw, & a big cheeseburger. All were very, very good ! Having read others' posts; let me add: If you are in a restaurant which is "new" to you, you've got to read the menu. The owner does "travel the World", as someone said, and does use some innovative combinations. I have found all of this small local chain's locations to be flexible with customer preferences. Me and my fiancé Went here for lunch we was very disappointed with the food and service the fish tacos was horrible the honk poke was not good the waitress was not Attentive and was picking in her teeth did not go to the restroom and wash her hands but she did use sanitizer probably only cause I was looking at her that was disgusting in Plainview

Located right next to Ochsner hospital on Belle Chasse hwy...if you're ever in the area...its a go to place for lunch or dinner. Its located in a pretty decent size strip mall that makes great for parking. I so miss the Warehouse District location, but I work on the Westbank so I can get my fix of the amazing things on the menu when I don't bring my lunch or need to get out of the office. 10-12 table tops and bar seating, means there's usually not a wait time...and if so its typically 10-15 minutes. Sometimes longer and I'll explain why. The wait staff is amazing and management is always on site so that's a plus. Its the kitchen that seems to be kinda hit or miss. Henceforth the varying wait times. Like one fellow yelper mentioned, if you're pressed for time then its a toss up of whether or not you'll be back to work in an hour. The kitchen seems slow most times, but that hasn't stopped me from coming back. On to the food..... Some of my favorite items in no particular order are.... Pecan crusted chicken salad. Chicken is always juicy, and is crusted with a sweet pecan topping. Served with Romaine, cabbage, carrots, onions and cheese and honey mustard dressing. You won't be mad if you order this. Dueling Tomato & Shrimp salad. Really is much of a salad, but its DAMN good. Served with fried green tomatoes, topped with shrimp, corn, bacon and field greens and some yummy dressing. You won't even be concerned why they call it a salad. Shrimp crab and olive pasta is my "I'm not doing any work when I get back to lunch meal". As I seem to have to eat then entire thing and can NEVER save any for later. Its salty, fresh, seafood goodness on a bed of pasta Thai ribs...are giving Zea's a run for their money. Must get the mango coconut rice as a side to go with. The burritos and fish tacos are always a go to when you can't decide. Stay on the lookout for meals of the day. Always something new and innovative that'll tempt you to try it. And the servings are pretty decent size.

I was happy to discover this Belle Chasse lunch option on the healthier side. Both myself and my guest enjoyed the grilled chicken salad wrap. I chose to have my wrap with the fresh fruit and my guest enjoyed his wrap with the sweet potato fried. The chicken was juicy and the dressing, absolutely delicious! I will certainly recommend it to other working in Belle Chasse,

I said I would never return, but here I am writing an update to Sun Ray. I only went back because my coworkers were already going. I arrived at noon to get a table for five. There was no wait and the dining room was roughly 60% full. We ordered at 12:10 and did not get our lunch delivered until 12:45. This makes sticking to a lunch "hour" pretty difficult. I ended up having my lunch brought out to me in a go box with my check. Our server was quite sweet and very quick to keep our drinks full. However, there was no sense of urgency to get us our lunch despite me telling her I was in a hurry when I ordered. So, suffice it to say, I am still not a fan of Sun Ray Grill. I would be remiss if I did not mention my meal, however. I ordered the burrito. It was pretty good.

A really good dining experience. The staff aimed to please and did so. Our waitress, Krystal, was as good as they get. She was personable, intelligent, professional, & came by at just the right time, not too much, & not too little. Our food was excellent. We had, and I strongly recommend, the portabella fries as an appetizer, & had the grilled redfish, which I would also recommend. For desert we had the crème brûlée, which was outstanding. It is a little pricy but well worth it. Enjoy!

We came on a Sunday afternoon on a friends' recommendation. After perusing the menu, we decided to split a few appetizers: the portobello fries, goat cheese fritters, and the oyster bread. Our favorite dish was the portobello fries. You get a basket of cornmeal-crusted mushroom strips topped with parm, and they're delicious. We both immediately said they had a similar taste and texture to fried oysters, which we loved. The goat cheese was lovely, but not warm enough. I loved the French bread it came with. The oyster bread was OK, but I wouldn't order it again. Four fried oysters on top of French bread for $13.50? That's the price for a full fried oyster poboy anywhere in the GNO area. I enjoyed our server - tall guy with a great sense of humor and solid menu recommendations. I don't think I'd come back for lunch because the food quality to ratio just doesn't cut it for me. We spent $50 for three appetizers and two sodas. The place seems to have a little bit of an identity crisis - a mix of fancy dishes that match the white tablecloths, and on the other hand a bunch of awesome dishes (apps and burgers) that would give any food truck a run for its money. Note: they have a lot of really great and unusual vegetarian options.

This is a hidden gem on the Westbank! We had the oyster bread and fish tacos. Both were very tasty. The menu here is varied with different offerings. They even have Poke! I will return to try something different.

I make it a point to visit every time in town. The Thai ribs, Goat cheese fritters, Tuna Poke, Duck nachos, and the Red fish Orleans was so good you can't go wrong but I do wish they had non-alcoholic beer for my friend. The staff is also super nice, a must try.

This place surprised us. We always wanted to stop in and we're glad we did. There is a variety on the menu and it is delicious! A little upscale but not. We are definitely going to make this our regular spot. Try it, I dont think you'll be disappointed!!
