this place is quite famous and has another location at vancouver, and i heard it fell off so i had no expectations for it. however it actually had passable flavors?! we stsrted off with their roasted baby pig, which tasted standard- with its crispy skin and boring meat 3/5 next off we got their king crab topped with garlic, which didnt have enough meat but tasted ok. its not really WOAHHH it just tasted like garlic and crab 3/5 next off is their pecking duck which tasted boring- the ones u buy at takeout places which specialixe in pecking duck are MICH better as the meat here just tasted like naked duck without the seasoning 2.5/5 their soup frok the king crab course menu tasted like msg water with a pinch pecking duck flavor 😍😍😍 2/5 then we got some sorta fish and veggie stiry fry which was swimming in oil with a slight tinge of seasoning, which was edible ig 2.5/5 then we got their crab and french fry dish, which was quite flavorful and crispy?! its taste was predominantly judt soy sauce 3.5/5 then we got their stif fry meat with cabbage, which needed a little more salt, otherwise its almost good! thet seasoned it well ish with oyster sayce prolly 3/5 their fried salted chicken just tadted salty with some ligjt crispy skin. however aside from the skin the chicken itself needs a bit more flavoring 2.8/5 you know whats surprising tho?! THEIR CRAB FRIED RICE HAD DLAVOR?! AND IT WAS PRETTY GOOD?! FIRST TIME EVER- and it wasnt too oily either!!! 3.5/5 their fish tofu dish was seasoned ok, it just tasted like what one would eat at home 3/5 then ofcc we ended with a super siper sweet red bean dessert 2/5 overall 3/5 ok but not splendid

The staff here were nice and welcoming, as well as efficient! The restaurant itself was well kept and visually appealing. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Really good Chinese dining experience with great portions but more importantly great taste and quality. The service was fast and friendly. We went as a group and everyone was pleased with it all Also, the prices are very reasonable; approximately $60 per person. We were all full to brim by the end of the service I highly recommend this place and will revisit in the future.

Came here during the rush hour. The food is good. The atmosphere is super crowded and it was crazily chaotic. We had a reservation yet thé hostess just skipped us and turned to other walk in customers. We were waiting for half an hour past thé reservation time. The hostess is arrogant and barely knows how to address people with good manners. During the meal thé plates were stacking up and significantly messing up with our experience yet no staff were available on the scene. Teapot ran out of water and we see no staff that are available to give us a refill either. Had to go fill the teapot by ourselves. What disappoints us thé most is how chaotic this place is and how unprofessional and rude their staffs are. There will be no second visit.

Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant has long traded on its reputation as a “prestigious Chinese cuisine since 1986,” but our recent visit made it clear that reputation no longer reflects reality. My family and I came to celebrate the New Year with dim sum. The food was mediocre — not terrible, but entirely unremarkable and far below the standard one would expect from a restaurant that continues to market itself as high-end. Nothing stood out. The roasted squab, which the restaurant prominently prides itself on, was especially disappointing. At $25.95, it was shockingly small — essentially a single bite with mostly bones. The menu previously listed it at $40 on weekends and $25.95 on weekdays, yet we were told the price is now $25.95 every day. Even at this reduced price, the portion borders on unreasonable. It is difficult to imagine anyone paying $40 for what was served. Service quality reflected a similar decline. Large, established Chinese seafood restaurants are traditionally known for attentive details such as proactively refilling tea and replacing plates filled with bones and leftovers. These are basic service standards. None of this happened during our visit. However, once we finished eating, staff were immediately attentive to clearing the table and bringing the bill, making it clear that table turnover was prioritized over the dining experience. The most unacceptable part of the visit occurred at payment. While the food was passable, the service did not warrant a tip. When I paid the bill, the staff member handling the credit card terminal, Stella, looked at the receipt and asked me to pay the tip in cash, then walked away. This interaction felt coercive and inappropriate. Tipping should be optional — not requested, implied, or pressured after payment has already been made. To avoid confrontation, I ultimately left a 15% tip, but the experience left a strong sense of dissatisfaction. Whether this behavior is encouraged by management or normalized internally, it reflects poorly on the restaurant’s business practices. Customers should not be guilted or pressured into tipping, especially when service standards are not being met. What was meant to be a New Year’s family celebration ended as a disappointing and uncomfortable experience. The issue was not just average food or declining service, but the sense of entitlement and pressure surrounding tipping. For a restaurant that still claims prestige, this experience was anything but.

The food came out hot and well-prepared. Everything was nicely seasoned—not bland like other dim sum spots. The crab claws were packed with real crab meat, which was a nice surprise. The flat rice noodles were probably the best I’ve had in Metro Van. Most of the dim sum dishes were solid, too, though I wasn’t really into their lotus leaf rice.

Pretty good dim sum restaurant! Nice and open interior though it's still cramped with all the tables. Staff are attentive but they did seem to spend more time servicing regulars compared to other customers. Food was prepared well and tasted good. Small but adequate parking lot outside. I would still recommend this restaurant for the food!

What has happened to Sun Sui Wah. It used to be 5 star food and 5 star service, and was our favourite restaurant to take family and friends. Every dish was perfectly executed. They were winning all the restaurant awards. However during an earlier visit, it drastically declined in service., no longer 5 stars. And more recently, last night’s visit disappointed, too. The food is no longer 5 stars. Has management changed? It seems like Sun Sui Wah is no longer paying attention to the customer’s experience. Food and service is not the same as when they were winning awards. We had a family dinner at Sun Sui Wah last night. Though all dishes were piping hot, something has happened in the kitchen. The legendary flavours that I was accustomed to having at Sun Sui Wah missed the mark. The food has declined from 5 stars to 3 stars. During a prior visit, we rated Sun Sui Wah 5 Star Food, 1 Star Service. We had a large family dinner Sun Feb 5th, ordering 2 types of crab, Peking duck, salt prawns, salt squid, filet with pepper, sautéed seafood. The food was superb. However the service was dreadful. • Our waiter had a poor attitude, best described as “surly”. This is not how guests should be spoken to. • When we requested a 3 servings of hot sauce, he reacted unpleasantly and brought only one. So weird. • Dishes full of crab shells were not refreshed for a very long time. Definitely not the service I’ve come to expect from Sun Sui Wah

When we were in Vancouver, we just had to stop in Richmond (the 626 of Vancouver) to eat some Chinese food. So we decided on Sun Sui Wah for dim sum. We followed Google maps to the restaurant and found out the entrance was on the back side of the building so we moved our car. It was pretty busy on a Sunday morning, but the wait wasn't too long once we put our name down. No carts here, you order off the paper menu and they bring the food to you. The dim sum was good, they had a couple things I haven't seen in So Cal like Baked shredded radish so I had to give it a try - it was very good! If you plan on having leftovers, do what the locals do and bring your own container. Otherwise they charge you 50 cents for a takeaway box.

I've been to Sun Sui Wah in Richmond over 20 times -- mostly for dinner, with just a handful of dim sum visits. Their food has always been consistently good and I genuinely enjoy it every time. They used to be famous for their roasted squabs, but not so much these days. If you want a really good squab, Rose Garden on Kingsway in Vancouver is really good! Sun Sui Wah has comfortable seating and decent service overall.

Sun Sui Wah is a restaurant with long history in Richmond, it is well known for its Cantonese style and is one of the best in Vancouver BC. Its dimsum are welly made and features a wide range of food in their menu. Service is always one of the best. My experiences has always been great here.

Classic dim sum spot that delivers on tradition and flavor. We ordered all the staples - congee, har gow, shiu mai, chicken feet, etc. As a life-long resident of SGV, I have to say this was the best dim sum restaurant we've been to. A few things worth noting: - No push carts here. - Alcohol-friendly. Was surprised to see people enjoying beer so early in the morning! - Easily the least greasiest dim sum I've ever had. The service was efficient and attentive, even during the busy weekend rush. Decor and ambiance is a little more upscale compared to what I'm accustomed to back at home. Looking forward to returning when I'm back in Richmond!

They're known for their roast squab so we ordered that but I didn't find the taste mindblowing. It was juicy and the skin was crispy but I found the meat a bit tough. Note that squabs are fairly small so even if you order a whole one, it isn't really worth the price that you pay. The sweet and sour pork was ok; not the best I've had. The seafood chow mein was a bit better, albeit a bit underseasoned. The vegetable that came with the seafood chow mein was exceptionally crisp though. Probably should've ordered an extra plate of this vegetable lol. Service was ok; a bit inattentive and it took a while to flag down a waiter to pay the bill. Maybe we ordered the wrong things because I know this place is also known for their crab and dimsum but I was not impressed by our dinner here.

My first time visiting the Richmond location of Sun Sui Wah.. was very busy for Father's Day dimsum. Ordered the seafood chow mein, dried scallop/shrimp fried rice, deep fried salted squid, prawn rice roll, siu mai, chicken feet, tripe/tendon and fried taro balls. It was all so so delicious. Loved the old school dimsum but tasted top tier and portion sizes generous. Best of the best was def the fried rice - so much delicious dried scallop and wok hay. Only item that was just okay was the chow mein - a little bland and noodles weren't crispy at all. ++Recommended.

Great food, ordered my usual dim sums, service was great not a full house for a Saturday afternoon. Had the assistant manager service my table. The tea was great, strong tea. The atmosphere inside is bright and lively, not high ceilings but has lots of lighting.

Ambiance 3/5 -- Reminiscent of a traditional dim sum restaurant I'd visit with my grandparents and extended family. Massive crabs in tanks and red velvet decor. Food 3/5 -- I was a bit unimpressed and found a caterpillar in the Snow Peas. Snow Peas and Oyster Mushroom (4/5): After it was remade, the snow peas were nicely cooked and mushrooms were tender and juicy. Light sauce coated it nicely Shrimp Rice Roll (2/5): Sauce wasn't flavorful. Green onions inside were a nice touch Shu Mai (4/5): Flavorful and tasty! Chicken Feet (3/5): Sauce was overwhelming, however the chicken feet was very soft and tender. Great texture, sauce not so much Tendon and Tripe 3/5: Overly soft, buttery and creamy. I wish it had more of a chew/bite feel Service 3/5 -- No nonsense type of service. Rather slow but it was a busy Saturday. We found a caterpillar and the manager promptly removed it from the bill but didn't comp the remake. We paid for a brand new dish. We ordered Har Gao and never received it but it got removed from the bill I won't be back

Old school style Chinese restaurant. The ones your parents take you to. Pick a live fish or crab or lobster and they bring it to your table for approval. Green beans, pork belly, and chow fun were all delicious. Came out a little slow but tasted good. Choice of teas.

It's been a while since we've eaten here but Mom wanted to go back. The squab is still good from what I remembered but everything else was just ok. Food didn't come out hot, just warm temperature. Service was excellent though...very attentive and changed our plate almost after every dish. Probably won't come back since there are many choices in Richmond.

One of the better dim sum options in Richmond. Everything we ordered had good sized portions with lots of flavor. A few things were weird like the pork pastries that seemed to have candied ginger that was off putting, but everything else was devoured. Service was pretty quick, even on a busy weekend. Parking can be tricky as it shares its lot with a bunch of other stores. Be patient and usually spots open up regularly.

Maybe it was my fault for not doing enough research but dinner has no dim sum. Pretty pricey place.

One of the best dim sum we had in North America. We had their Vancouver location almost a decade ago. This time we tried the Richmond location. The only thing missing was the spicy chili oil which they don't offer because Cantonese people don't eat spicy. My favorite was the shrimp wrapped in rice sheets. Shrimp were so big, juicy and scrumptious.

When I'm on vacation, I try to have the local dim sum. On a recent trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, friends recommended this restaurant in the Richmond area. A cousin and his family from Mississippi asked to join us for dim sum, as their grandchildren had never experienced this kind of Chinese food before. Our party of 8 ordered a wide variety of soup, dumplings, and bao. I'm happy the boys were willing to try new things, but I steered clear of the chicken feet and tripe dishes! Cousin likes black bean spareribs and I like hom suey gok, so we made sure to get those. We ordered the usual cha shu bao, Shanghai soup dumplings, ha gow, sui mai, no mai gai, egg tarts, sesame balls, long beans with minced pork in spicy sauce, and deep-fried squid with spicy salt. The won ton soup with shrimp was a good choice, too. I made 10:30am reservations for Wednesday, but the restaurant didn't fill up until a bit later. A nice touch was the 2 sets of serving chopsticks for the table. Service was good, and the food came quickly. Everyone left happy and full, with a few doggie bags.

Had to stop in richmond for a different style of asian seafood, dim sum restaurant. all portions are best for family style. we ate our meal with two people and finished off all the food. service was fast, food came out when ready, and it was a very delicious meal. this restaurant looked like it served bigger groups or families. they had many wait staff attending to all tables.

My family, brough two fresh fish to this restaurant to have dinner. At the beginning, one of the manager Alan who told us that the restaurant would charge $15 per pound for the fish + additional cost of the vegetable. As our fish weight 8.5 lbs. I agreed on the charge which is $127.5. In the meantime, he didn't clearly state the additional charge on the vegetable that stirred fry with the fish, just told me that "may be" around $20 per dish. As all of us were tired after going fishing for the whole day, so I was ok on the additional cost . Besides, I also order a half chicken and a dish of sweet and sour pork and 3 bowls of rice. When I asked for the bill, this restaurant charged me $380. I questioned about the total amount and the cashier explained to me of the items and extra the service charge. What ? At first, the manager strongly recommended not steaming the fish even we wanted to have it. He refused to follow the order. Second, after serving the first round tea, then the waiter and that manager were gone for cigarette break. No water were serving and we needed to ask the cashier to call Manager Alan, but she told us that he was gone for cigarette break. Unfortunately, he didn't come to our table after placing the order. I was angry and embarrassed by going to such scam restaurant. I eventually paid $400 in CASH as the manager requested us to pay in cash (not deducting any GST or PST in the bill). The most ridiculous was the cashier ran to my family member for asking more tips. No service, worst cooking on our fresh fish still asked for more tipping. What a scam! If that restaurant closed down eventually that it deserves by hiding such staff to run the business.

We took the in-laws to the Richmond location of Sun Sui Wah, after they expressed a wish to try a new (to them) dim sum restaurant. I knew if we arrived just after opening we would have a high probability of securing a table, but out of an abundance of caution I called ahead to make reservations. I had only been to the Vancouver location, but I was happy to see there the restaurant was attached to a relatively large strip mall parking lot. We arrived a little earlier than expected, so it took awhile for the hostess to come out and seat us. I guess I can chalk it up to the staff setting up and getting ready for the day ahead. We checked off our usual list of go-to items: Steamed Prawn Dumpling, Sui Mai, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Mini Egg Tarts. We also threw in a few other items to try: Pan Fried Fish Paste with Crepes, Gai Lan with Oyster Sauce, and the staple Shrimp & BBQ Pork Fried Rice. At the time of ordering the restaurant was less than half full, so we received all of our dishes in quick order. The staff kept a close eye on everyone's tables. If you wanted your teapot refilled, if you wanted to put in your order (or pay for it), then we could flag down the right staff member and they immediately notice and respond. It was quite refreshing. Food-wise, the Gai-Lan was the right level of crunch (and yet easy to eat), the fried rice was not oily at all, Egg Tarts not too sweet and most of the dim sum was a very solid thumbs up. The Pan Fried fish paste was a tad too oily for my liking, but it was fun to try a new item. The in-laws absolutely loved the BBQ Pork Buns, proclaiming it was the best they had ever had. I tried one myself and while I don't feel qualified to make the same claim, I readily agreed the Bun was very good. It was stuffed FULL of BBQ Pork, and the pork itself had a generous amount of BBQ sauce and was not too dry. Thanks to the fast food and service, we were in and out in just over an hour, just as the place was starting to fill up with other patrons. Worth a return trip!

Amazing dim sum and service. Parking not so great. Otherwise, spacious restaurant. Dim sum is delicious. Their XO sauce is to die for.., great for accompanying the dim sum and super delicious in congee. Mango pudding in the shape of a pig was delicious as was the mango puree that came with it.

Good food, good service. Portion is quite large, so keep that in mind when you are ordering. Har Gow (steamed prawn dumpling) fits like two shrimp in each, tastes and has good texture. Steamed Spare Ribs are tasty. Rice rolls are just right for my taste.

The attitude was terrible and they kept on hurrying us as we were ordering. we found a cockroach in our food. It took them really long to serve our food and on top of that the plates and everything were dirty and still had some rice stuck on the side.

Great place for dim sum. Tasty. Clean. Worth a visit if you're around the area. Prices are reasonable.

We went on Monday morning at 10:30 for dim sum. We made reservation so we get seated immediately. Service was nice. Waiters are very attentive and refill our tea all the time. Food was great. The crab claw with shrimp paste was amazing. The rest of the dim sum with shrimps are tasty. The vegetarian dumplings are good also.

4.5 Ask any Vancouver native for which places to eat dim sum and this restaurant is bound to come up on the list. Tried and true, this place is every bit as good as it was many years ago when I first ate here. Don't let the simple strip mall facade fool you, their cuisine is top notch and suitably you also pay a few extra dollars for it. However considering it's not possible to find dim sum made this well anywhere along the East Coast, (or west coast so I've heard), nor service at a dimsum restaurant as professional as they were here, so I gotta rate them higher for both those reasons. Last weekend when I came on a Friday around 1pm, the restaurant was about 50-60% full. They played the World Cup on a couple large TV screens (one filling an entire wall), and all parties were sitting one party to each table (ie. no sharing tables w/strangers). I tried: steamed prawn dumplings, steamed pork siu mai, steamed spareribs in black bean sauce, pan-fried daikon cake, each $9.25*. Additionally steamed beef tendon w/tripe w/chu hot sauce, steamed prawn rice rolls, each $10.25. Then steamed chicken rice w/Chinese sausage $12.95, and steamed Chinese broccoli w/oyster sauce $15.95. Lastly a steamed caramel sponge cake $8.25. First they use good size prawns and not just dinky little shrimp in their dumplings, siumai and rice rolls. The dumpling skins were thin and the noodles were smooth, each item that had filling was generously filled. All was well seasoned, and the portion sizes were at least 25-30% larger than the same items I've had at other dim spot places. What makes it better is each dish is made to order (so though I miss the pushcart experience), this ensures each plate arrives freshly prepared. This probably sounds funny but that Chinese broccoli was cooked to perfection, perfectly crisp and cooked thru and not tough as veggies tend to get when they're not fresh, or harvested too late and the leaves have gotten too fibrous. Probably the best preparation of this dish I've had in all my years of eating dimsum. And want to add that while the caramel sponge cake was tasty, the original translation of the dish means Malay cake, which is more of a denser, spongier, steamed cake rather than fluffy like the one they served. Not only do they serve dimsum, but their traditional multi-course banquet dinners are well-known and appreciated as some of the best classic Chinese dishes this side of the Western hemisphere. They host many a wedding or celebration reception here and the space can be partitioned to book. Want to mention the service I experienced here was terrific, we were seated right away, asked which tea we preferred upon arriving to the table (chrysanthemum naturally) and they came to take our order about 5-7 minutes after we sat down. Food started arriving within 10 minutes of ordering. It was easy to flag down a waiter for extra sauce and for our check, they were all very professional and courteous. *all prices listed as CAD.

We really enjoyed the food here at Sun Sui Wah. We had 2 meals here. First was dim sum. You order off a menu and mark off a sheet then they bring it to you. Food was fresh and hot and standout dishes were the siu mai and the turnip cake in cubes. Service was just okay and the restaurant decor is very gold. As for dinner, they were having a wedding that night so we had to sit in a private room off to the side. Food was very good as we had fish with vegetables, salted fish with tofu, and a fried rice. All were tasty. Again service was just okay but the food made up for it. I'd recommend.

The food at this place was spot on. We had Sui Mai, tripe, chicken feet, soy sauce chow mein, and sesame seed balls. We came on a recommendation to try their roast squad and king crab legs. We'll, no roast squad for lunch time and king crab required buying a whole crab ( about 8 lbs ) which we would be way too much crab for 2 persons. The dim sum was all onnpar with the better dim sum you can find in the San Francisco area. It's a must try place for dim sum. The service could've been a bit more attentive and the ambiance is nice. Lots of easy parking in the front of the restaurant.

My trip was off to a great start, due to Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant being my first destination for food in Canada. We tried the roasted squab, the deep fried crab claws stuffed w/shrimp paste, steamed African abalone, deep fried milk w/coconut milk, deep fried prawn roll with seaweed, and a couple other dishes. Overall, everything was tasty. I personally didn't care for the squab or abalone. The squab is a small bird without much meat, but it was a favorite dish for another person in my group. The abalone portion is very tiny and priced at $20 per each piece (with a minimum order of two). We also had a dish with some kind of pepper, and that was tasty; it had a bit of heat to it and was served with a garlic black bean sauce. The deep fried prawn roll with seaweed was interesting and different. The deep fried crab claws stuffed w/shrimp paste were also very tasty; I enjoyed the presentation of this item as well. Lastly, the deep fried milk w/coconut milk was a perfect way to end the meal.

Thankfully we don't get to Richmond very often, but when we do, this is a must. Consistently the best dim sum in our opinion. After 40 or so years, I have some experience. Certainly not a millennial elite yelper. All of whom should be ignored. Especially those pretentious ones from south of the border. The bane of the internet.

Great dim sum experience! Food is always good, especially their spicy deep fried squid. Friendly service and clean dining room. Parking is tricky with a very busy and well Used parking lot, but user pay option for street parking is also available.

I know many people recommended this place and that's why I visited here. However to me this place was just OK. I tried a variety of dishes including dim sum, squab and tapioca dessert. I personally did not care for the tapioca dessert. Ample parking in the front but it is a busy lot so be patient to find a stall during peak time!

The food was ok, nothing special, it was overpriced but I know what I was getting into. The service is what you would expect at a Chinese restaurant, you won't get doted on like is done traditionally at a western style restaurant and have to flag waiters down yourself, and sometimes the waiters don't speak English well, that's fine too I understand what I was getting into and the cultural differences here. I do however expect that if I am paying this much that the restaurant get my order right or do something to make up for getting it wrong, which isn't what happened. I clearly ordered one item, pointed to it on the menu and all and got a completely different one. When I called out the mistake, the waiter lied to me about the dish being similar (telling me there was tofu in it when there was not), and otherwise pressured me to keep the wrong dish, which fine I did. I was at the very least hoping for some kind of discount as an apology (or being charged for the item I ordered which was cheaper than what I got) for the inconvenience here but there was nothing, I was billed in full for the wrong dish. Ultimately left little tip and left angry, will not be returning.

Stopped in today near the end of a rainy noon hour and the place was still fairly busy, complimentary parking was available outside. Ordered the shrimp dumpling (har gow), tripe with ginger and green onion, chicken feet with black bean sauce, and dumplings filled with crab meat and shrimp paste. Everything was excellent though I would rank the crab meat dumplings the least favourite of the 4 orders. Noticed a sign out near the entrance that the restaurant was going to shut down for a couple weeks for renovations I assume. They should get rid of the very large wall tv screens inside as they can be very distracting if you sit near them. Will come back in the future and see what was done for renovations.

Dim sum hits different here. Docked a star because we waited for at least 25 minutes to even get our name on the list -- and we were at the front of the line the whole time! Though there was only one lady manning the front and she was doing her best, I think someone to help her would have streamlined the experience. We ordered Chicken Feet, BBQ Pork Bun, Har Gau Shrimp Dumpling, Steamed Rice Rolls, Soup Dumplings, Siu Mai, Custard Buns, and Pu'er Tea. Everything was delicious and I especially liked the Siu Mai and BBQ Pork Bun. They were so fluffy and flavorful and came out so quickly and fresh! The tea was also delicious. You're provided with one pot to start and then another pot, accompanied by hot water to add into the tea as it steeps. I'm not a huge fan of cilantro and there's a lot of it in the rice rolls, but my friends enjoyed them. The Chicken Feet were also a pleasant surprise because I usually find eating them annoying, but this time I was more than happy to. Quick dining service but slow seating service balances out, and everything was delicious. Recommend in Richmond / Vancouver!

The service here was pretty bad, had to ask multiple times for water and soy sauce. Food was mediocre, extremely oily, and flavor felt a bit off. The person that took our check at the end to our surprised demanded 20% gratuity when we only wanted to add 15%, which was extremely awkward. Never going back here again.

Trying to branch out from my normal dim sum restaurants, so my friends and I got to try Sun Sui. Its located in a plaza with plenty of parking space. Inside was nicely decorated and the staff was constantly cleaning up tables and setting up new tables. We made reservation but from what I saw when we got there, the table turnover was great. Didn't see a lot of people or group waiting too long. I only wish we had the tables where you had a lazy susan and you can rotate the dishes around the table instead of having to reach over and pass the dishes around. Otherwise, we had a great experience. Everything we order was great and taste great. Service was a bit disappointed as I had to constantly ask for things (ie water) when I shouldn't have to. Service could improve, otherwise I can see myself going back often.

This restaurant is beautifully decorated. They had the Olympics on a huge television and we were seated right in front and i love it. The service is great! The food is good! We ordered green beans, poached chicken, sweet and sour pork, & shrimp and vegetables.

Parking was probably the hardest to find and the spots aren't that big either. But at least it's free parking. They are super attentive once you are seated. They do charge for tea so you have to let them know right away if you don't want any. The menu has a great selection between dim sum and entrees. Wish they had a little larger selection of dim sum. The place gets packed and it's good if you can make reservations if you don't want to wait long. The food was great! We would come back.

Just finished Sunday brunch here with my family. This is a branch of a Hong Kong chain and have had many meals at their Wanchai Hong Kong restaurant. Frankly I was disappointed with their food quality at this Richmond branch, thought it would be better. Dim Sum was over steamed and the beef chow fun was way too salty. They were understaffed and kudos to the service staff for working so hard. However, when it came to paying the bill the cashier brought the POS machine and filled out the service charge without asking. When I ask why she got nasty and threw my credit card down on the table. I didn't tip and will never go back. Plenty of excellent dim sum places near by, suggest you give this place a wide berth

Went with friends for Dim Sum after the first place we tried said they'd only do walk ups after noon. This was close enough by that we decided to make this our next choice. It wasn't super full as we went just as it opened on a Saturday. We ordered Steamed Prawn Dumpling, Steamed Pork & Shrimp Shiu Mai, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Steamed Sparerib in Black Bean Sauce, Steamed bean curd rolls with pork, Pan Fried Daikon Cake, Steamed prawn Rice Roll, Mini Egg Tarts and Creamy Custard Buns. I would say everything ended up alright. I wasn't blown out of the water but nothing was bad. The prawn dumplings and shiu mai were both fairly large which was nice. I didn't love the serving method of the rice rolls as instead of pouring the sauce on top of the rolls, it was expected to dip them. Considering rice rolls break easily, not a huge fan of this method. Everything did come out very hot which makes sense as we were there at opening. Service wasn't slow and we were able to get our food and order at a reasonable speed.

I've heard rumors that the dim sum in Canada is almost on par with the dim sum in Hong Kong. Hmm...I can't say that it's true, yet. Regardless, Sun Sui Wah's dim sum was very delicious, and the authenticity and quality of the food is definitely something you can't find across the border in the US in my opinion. I ordered my usuals: sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves, turnip cakes, Chinese meatballs, shrimp dumplings. Left with a happy belly!

Our first time at Sun Siu Wah was 16 years ago after a ski trip to Whistler-Blackcomb and I really wanted dim sum then. SSW was one of the bigger Cantonese restaurants in Richmond and their dim sum is proportional in size. It was years before I started Yelping and I had no way to express how good their dim sum was. They had always advertised their fresh seafood as the specialty of the house and it took us this long to come back to try it. I had called around to see which restaurants had Alaskan King Crab. The manager at SSW said they had one left and it was a pretty big boy. I didn't care and said it was mine and to reserve us a table for that night. Upon our arrival, that crab was sitting front and center in the tank, not knowing his soon-to-be destiny with the chef. Our party of 7 was seated quickly, but after ordering our dinner, the manager shook his head and said we're going to have to move you to a bigger table for 10 with a Lazy Susan. I got worried. As is the custom, the condemned King Crab was brought tableside by a manager for viewing. It was a monster at 8.5kg (18.75lb), the biggest one I had ever seen. Previous ones we've eaten have only been 4.5-5kg (10-11lb), so this was going to be a challenge. We started with our usual West Lake Beef & Cilantro soup and followed by Peking Duck served 2 ways. First, was traditionally with thin pancakes instead of steamed buns. The crispy skin was served with cucumber slices, julienned scallions and hoisin sauce to make a dozen tasty duck burritos. The 2nd way is Duck Meat Hash Lettuce Wraps also with hoisin sauce. We also had Peking Pork Chops, which were very tender and Salt & Pepper Fried Calamari. To balance out the meal, one of the fresh available vegetables of the day was Pea Pod Leaves, so we had that stir-fried with minced garlic & onion and it was a pretty substantial plate. I wasn't sure we needed these dishes but the kids wanted them and the main event was coming up. Our King Crab was cooked 3 different ways. First up were the spiny legs and claws, with shell split open and steamed with lots of minced garlic over a bed of vermicelli. The crab meat was the sweetest I've ever had, but we had to do a little work to pull it out of the exo-skeleton. The thin rice noodles soaked up the flavor of the crab & garlic and were slurped up quickly. The 2nd crab course was the inside body of the crab, dredged in corn starch and deep fried with diced chili peppers and garlic. For such a big crab, it was very meaty in order to move all those spiny legs. The chili peppers gave it a good spicy flavor, but strangely it was served with shoestring French Fries? The 3rd and last crab dish was a Scallop & Asparagus Fried Rice made with the gooey insides of the carapace shell. The fried rice was under seasoned and a little bland, but made for great Yelping (or Instagramming) with the rice stuffed inside the huge spiky shell. Typical of a big Cantonese dinner, Sweet Red Bean soup was served for dessert with fresh sliced oranges. When the check came, I was ready for the worst, but whatever the price, that crab was worth it. Then on the contrary, we were pleasantly surprised that the crab was CAD$63/kg and with the good exchange rate (USD$21.4/lb) = USD$402, it was a pretty good deal. We just might have to come north of the border for crab hunting more often!

Stopped here before we went back home and everything was delicious. The restaurant was well kept and clean. Service could be better, our server had a lot of tables and was slow to get things to us. Overall it was worth a stop.

A lot of friends have recommended SSW to me for dim sum, so I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to try it out. We went on the Mother's Day weekend, but we were seated relatively quickly (within 10-20 minutes). The inside is very spacious with lots of tables that are nicely spaced out. However parts of it are also dated (especially the washroom) and look like they could use some reno. There is an expansive menu of different dim sum items, with pricing being on the premium end. Overall the dim sum was good, but I feel it was overhyped as it wasn't as amazing as people made it sound and there were definitely some items that fell short. For instance, the custard lava buns had very little filling. Service was relatively friendly and attentive for a dim sum place.

We came on a weekday and were quickly seated without any wait. Large selection of dim sum and the portions are larger than the other dim sum restaurants in Richmond on my opinion. Prices are slightly more expensive, however it's 10% discount on dim sum on weekdays which makes them competitive. We enjoyed everything we ordered and especially love the minced beef rice roll, very tasty!

One of our favorite dim sum places in Richmond. It's definitely tried and true. All the classics with not too many crazy fusion stuff. Prices are reasonable, har gows are HUGE, and crazy parking lot to complete the whole experience. I'm sure there are better more creative places around the area but this place is always solid.

When you crave good Dim Sum, you also know you're in Vancouver or Richmond BC and when you walk in during Yamcha hours and it's packed, you know you choose the right spot for delicious, flavorful, tasty and enjoyable Dim Sum British Columbia has to offer. The decore is modern and bright, the waiters are traditionally as you expect from a good dim sum place: quick efficient and blunt. Don't care I'm here for some great dim sum and I've left fulfilled.

All the dim sum selection you would need - service was great but I'd probably try a different dim sum restaurant next time.

Four years after coming here for dinner, I finally came here to try their dimsum as well! My friend made a reservation for the 4 of us on Sunday around 12:30, but we still had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table. Surprisingly we ended up getting seated in a private room which was shared between our group and three others. We enjoyed the dishes we ordered. We got the standard dishes like steamed spareribs, chicken feet, dimplings, etc., and our favorites were #42 pan fried fish paste with crepes and #96 water chestnut roll with almond. One thing we found a bit odd as that they add meat floss and cilantro to their donut rice noodle roll. One of my friends is vegetarian and always gets this at dimsum, but because of the meat floss, he couldn't eat this. Parking is a pain in this lot. We circled around for 10 minutes trying to read all the signs on where we could and couldn't park before we found a spot. Because of the parking situation, I probably won't be coming back...
