My soup was water and the ingredients. The lo mein was so sweet I dont want to eat it. The easiest things where the worst. Never again.

Your typical Chinese small eat in takeout. Chicken fried rice had lots of chicken and egg rolls were delicious. Must be that different Chinese cultures have different versions of fried rice. This rice has a high moisture content and the rice is yellow but it was still delicious.

Crab Rangoon were minuscule and didn’t even taste like anything was in them. General tso was okay. Rice was meh. Service was excellent though.

Dried rice and 2 pieces of beef . The chicken was not even cooked just extra sauce . Will never order from here again .

I ordered honey barbecue wings and these mfs left the feathers on the chicken don’t order from here and they don’t cook their shrimp well

Horrible customer service. They charged me 2 dollars for a drizzle of bbq sauce on my chicken. Then when I was putting the ketchup on my fries she grabs it out of my hand and puts it on my chicken which I didn’t ask for. If you like good service this isn’t the place for you!!!!

The cashier lady who is working now around 7:00pm 4/2/25, was only nice and friendly with the white people who came before me. She was smiling and saying thank you. But me as the asian guy, she wasn’t too nice and just gave me my food without even looking. That’s passive racism.

Ordered lunch from Uber Eats. The spring roll was small but delicious. The egg drop wonton soup was decent. The "lobster" fried rice ($8.50) seemed too good to be true. Skeptical, I ordered it. I don't know if these were all mini lobster babies but the one piece that I tried tasted terrible, and didn't look like any kind of lobster I'd ever seen. The rice itself was bland and unremarkable. Wouldn't order that dish again, and I'm dubious about the rest of the menu ingredients if this is how they're getting down. Check out the picture to see I'm not exaggerating.

It's so hard to get good Chinese food by my job. We tried this place . I got broccoli in garlic sauce. Broccoli was under cooked but the rice tasted so fresh. My two co workers got beef with broccoli. One said it was okay the other said she couldn't eat the meat . I personally don't get any meats in a Chinese place . We ordered at 11:30 it took almost an hour. We got 3 lunch specials with 3 drinks. But we also ordered a 4th drink ,soup bad egg roll. Didn't get the 4th drink. I mean it's Chinese fast food , we shouldn't have expected more .

Their lunch special boneless spare ribs with white rice was a good portion. Their egg roll was crispy and delicious. Also got a can of soda that came out to $8.65. The cost was so worth it. The delivery guy was very nice and the food arrived on time under forty minutes. Anytime I physically ate at this location everyone was nice. I love beef jerky and for some reason that's how the boneless spare ribs tasted. It was for my taste not sure others would like it. But I sure did. I love that the boneless spareribs were made well done.

Sadly didn't have the best experience with the food this time. The combo dishes we got didn't taste fresh, so it seems like a lot of the dishes are hit or miss. The hot and sour soup, pork fried rice, and crab rangoon are still my favorite!

I always order sesame chicken and servings are pretty generous. The pork fried rice is seasoned well but not salty, contains a good ratio of rice to other ingredients.

Ok obviously we've all had Chinese take out a million times before. THIS PLACE DOES IT BETTER. Honestly I moved around the corner and never before really ate Chinese takeout. Now I do all the time. Do it.

Ordered takeout Was harassed by the restaurant's courier in the lobby of my building because he was under the impression that I wasn't going to tip him even though I had cash in my pocket ready to hand it over. He refused to give over the food, raised his voice in front of everyone, demanding that I tip otherwise he wouldn't give me the food I already paid for. Even though at that point he didn't deserve the tip, I gave it to him and he proceeded to throw the food at me. When I escalated the matter to the restaurant, they refused to do anything about it. The food isn't even that great.

The food is fresh and well-seasoned. The service is excellent and the staff is quite courteous. This is the go-to for Chinese food in a 1/2 mile radius.

Places like this suck because the food is amazing but the service is GHETTO and UNETHICAL. First problem is when is it ok for people to ASK for a tip? Second issue is the driver having an ATTITUDE about it like as if it's not called gratuity for a reason? Especially after I already tipped on the card!!! It made me want to take my money back soooo bad. First of all they came to my place of business so I told to woman to ask the driver to LEAVE it in the lobby and I come to grab the bag yet he's just standing there. After I signed he forcefully put the receipt in my face pointing towards to Tip section..... I've never in my life wanted to tell the driver to take the food back and call for a refund without even opening the bag. These people either need to communicate with their drivers better or make it a rule to NOT ask for a tip which is crazy because never in my years of being a server did I feel INITIALED to a tip... LAST TIME ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE ! Couldn't care less how good the food is.

Pretty solid hole in the whole Chinese food and fast too. Would recommend this place for a quick bite.

I'm giving this four stars for the category it fits in: Hole in the wall restaurant you get takeout from. Do not come here expecting ambiance or a good place to sit. It reminds me of a small town Chinese restaurant, where someone's auntie is sitting in the corner watching Chinese TV (and yes, someone was doing that). I actually wrote this place off the first time I heard of it because the menu looked to be your normal American Chinese food. However, a year later, I found out they carry roast duck! I ordered the half duck for $18. The closest comparison I have for roast duck is Wah Fung in Chinatown, and even their roast duck is $21 for half and Wah Fung does not accept credit card. Haven't found another Chinese restaurant who will deliver to me that even carries roast duck. You can also just get a normal duck with rice for ~$7 or ~8, but I just wanted half a duck. Also got the salt and pepper chicken wings $6. Very crispy with a lot of breading. If you order above $15 you get a free soda. Lunch prices are around $7.75-$10 and include mains with soup and/or egg rolls (I don't remember if it's and or or). All in all, a great takout Chinese place, with pockets of authentic food. Expect the service to be like in Hong Kong, where they yell back to each other your orders and there is no decor. The DO take credit card though!

3.67 stars. You're wondering to yourself, this guy gave this place 4 stars? How can it possibly be different from all of the take out joints in Astoria? Well, let me tell you, it is and I would consider myself a connoisseur of Chinese take out. The way certain dishes are cooked is just different. Your sweet and sour pork, your sesame chicken, etc. Sun Wah just seems to have a "different" way of cooking it. The breading isn't as starchy, that could be a way to describe it or just not as fluffy. But it's welcomed. It full of MSG, etc.? Probably. But there's a flavor to these dishes that are just albeit different from the others just a few blocks away. As far as service, I've never had any issues. I need to go back.

Do not bother with this restaurant, there are others nearby so much better. Their communication skills are terrible, leading to frequent incorrect orders. Roast Duck? Try nothing but duck bones. Terrible. And when their communication skills lead to a snafu, you're treated to their terrible attitudes. No way to treat paying customers.

Pretty good! Not the best, but I would order again. I am new to the area, so I am trying all the new places out that I can. We ordered this through delivery and it came in the time stated. Got a veggie fried rice that could have been better and veggie lo mein which was better than the rice but still nothing to brag on. The shrimp and broccoli came with white and was the best part of the meal.

I am calling the health department on this place tomorrow morning. My boyfriend has a SEVERE ALLERGY to soy protein, especially tofu. I was VERY SPECIFIC and asked them to make sure to keep his meal separate and not to cross contaminate. DIRECTIONS ARE WRITTEN FOR A REASON. But guess what? They don't read or don't know how to follow directions. As soon as he opened his meal, szechuan chicken, we noticed odd additives. I tasted it, said it was tofu and called the restaurant. I explained what we found and they SWORE that they read the directions and no tofu in the meal. Did you clean your woks or spoons or any type of utensils before you make another meal? NO. THEY DON'T. Because I was right and THEY LIED and now I have a heavily allergy medicated boyfriend wheezing and we're contemplating going to the hospital because THEY ARE 1. NOT CLEAN AND 2. DON'T LISTEN. I hope this spot shuts down.

The food is great here! I work nearby and everyone raves about this place. The staff is friendly and always deliver quickly and are reliable.

Super hungover on a Sunday and then I was craving Chinese food at like 10pm. Got the pupu platter and some hot & sour soup. The shrimp and the wings were definitely my favorite. The soup cure my soul. 10/10 would order again! Also, super fast delivery! Found the bad reviews funny... because WHAT DO YOU EXPECT of service for a Chinese take out restaurant? What exactly are you paying for? Cheap affordable food. Not a 5 star service.

i love these types of hole in the wall Chinese restaurants. i always crave them and this one certainly didn't disappoint. place was clean and simple. service was prompt and food came out nice and fast, piping hot as well. unfortunately, some of the stuff i got was very greasy and oily but it's a typical carryout so it is expected would recommend :)

The food that I ordered might have tasted good at some point but because the delivery was about an hour late, it was stone cold. Cold pizza might have been ok in college but cold Chinese food as an adult, just is greasy and gross. The won ton soup was temped and still tasted ok. The shrimp in general Tso sauce and the steamed shrimp dumplings were both inedible. And of course the Snapple was warm.

3.5 stars For a Chinese fast food place, it's pretty good. I'm comparing Sun Wah to the ones in East Elmhurst, not the authentic restaurants in Flushing. I've only tried the hot and sour soup as well as the pepper steak with onions. The soup was full of mushrooms, I think it had bamboo shoots and egg with green onions and chilies. It was really flavorful and both of us were surprised by the taste of the soup. I normally don't order soup at a fast food restaurant since it usually tastes like water with oyster sauce/soy sauce. The pepper steak had huge pieces of peppers, onions and tender pieces of beef. If you're craving Chinese food (fast food), not a bad option. It's quick and cheap. Portions are big.

The people here are all nice and I really want to like this place, but the food has never impressed me. Granted, when I go here I want some Chinese "soul food" with a nice layer of grease, but the flavor is more lacking than at other Chinese restaurants. The dumplings, hot and sour soup, and general tso's chicken (staples of American Chinese cuisine) all fall short of expectations. The hygiene also is average at best; the tables are a bit rickety and the place a little on the sticky side. I love slightly dingy places if they have great food, but this place has neither.

I work in the area..I go here for lunch sometimes ..I love it the food is pretty good..And price for lunch specials is great!! Also the chiense lady in the front she's pretty nice to me everytime go..

I ordered delivery from this restaurant through the Yelp Eat 24 app. It estimated 45 to 60 mins for delivery, normal and totally understandable. Almost an hour after I ordered I got a call saying they have no delivery drivers, and have to cancel my order... I can't review the actual food, but I can say their delivery is obviously terrible or non existent.

I have been a long-time customer never complain before. But today was highly disappointed. I got the Singapore May fun. It was terrible super spicy impossible to eat !!!!Extremely dry. Feels like it was cooked yesterday and just warmed up today. All evening after consuming this food I feel really bad my stomach is hurting and I feel really nauseous:(

Despite Astoria's notorious reputation for having delicious food for every culture except Chinese, Sun Wah is actually edible. It's no Joe's Shanghai, but it's decent enough take out/delivery for me to eat (and I'm pretty picky with Chinese). Their Hot and Sour makes the cut (also, very high standards on my end), and their delivery response time is incredibly fast (honestly it's been as quick as 6 minutes from hang up to doorbell). Also, it's dirt cheap. They're open late (midnight) every night too, which is awesome when you realize you haven't eaten and nothing else is delivering.

Its a bit pricey (for Chinese food), but quite delicious (for Chinese takeout) I hardly order Chinese food from these fast food Chinese place, but when you're hungry and getting off really late from work, there's no better place. I ended up ordering a quart of pepper steak. Its basically slices of green pepper and strips of beef in black bean sauce. Somehow, this is one of those perfected dishes that no Chinese takeout places screws up on (although I have yet to make it right when I try), and this place wasn't an exception. It was delicious but cost a few bucks more. Chock it up to inflation, I guess. I don't know when's the next time I will come back here, but at least I don't have to look very far the next time I crave Chinese food.

Honestly my family and I have been buying from this place for about 20 years. The owners have always been very kind to us and have never had an issue over the food or service in those 20 years. Sun wah is a mom and pop shop since I could remember. You get amazing tasting food, which assuming the recipe has never changed. Love it!!! And would definitely recommend!!

Worst Chinese restaurant ever. People are rude, food is disgusting. I picked up lunch today and guess who was cooking? The lady who always sits and watches Chinese drama ( not the elder lady but middle aged). She made a weird fried rice , the rice was so dry and not boiled enough. I felt like I'm chewing uncooked rice. They lacks on everything , cleanliness , food taste, bed side manner etc.

Love the lunch special, such huge portions of food. Never fails to deliver something good when I need it the most!

While the woman was friendly when I called....and the delivery man was nice....I don't see myself ordering again, since their current prices are no longer what I'd consider to be "cheap" Chinese take out, and the quality is poor even at the prices they used to offer. Completely understandable to raise rates as a neighborhood grows/food costs increase. But they now charge the same that I'd pay for MUCH better food in midtown, or from their local Astoria/LIC competitors (my order of steamed dumplings and crispy beef was $20...which included a website discount....and a generous tip). I only made it through 2.5 of the dumplings, because they were super thick-skinned, and the meat inside very mushy. They looked and tasted "gray". Even the scallion dipping sauce they provided couldn't save them. Waste of $5. Crispy Beef had nearly no crisp, and was super chewy (I've had this dish delivered multiple times from various places that used the same lower quality of meat, but the morsels were tender and still crisp when the take out container was opened). The steamed broccoli wasn't fully drained, and the water made the dish even more soggy...and ran off some of the sauce. I gnawed through as much as I could. But still threw some away. So I was still hungry, and had wasted food, after spending $20. That's not cheap chinese take out, y'all. A for customer service. C- for product. Much better Chinese delivery, for equal or less money, sprinkled throughout this delivery zone.

This is my only Chinese food restaurant I go to in my area. Love them very clean and food is fresh.

Still freaking the best in Astoria! I have to say everything I have tried on their menu has tasted really good!! And they will do any modifications you ask them to. They are always always friendly! Did I mention they are super cheap... what else is there to say good cheap Chinese food...

Ok....no matter what, chicken should never be purple/gray. I'm slightly concerned so only eating the rice in the chicken fried rice which doesn't have any egg or peas or carrots it's pathetic.

Standard Chinese takeout, but tastes good, some dishes seem as healthy as can be for this type of takeout, and the staff is nice (it didn't sound like I was being yelled at for once!!!) I no longer live in this neighborhood, so chances of eating here ever again are slim, but if I were to live in this hood, this would be my standard for cheap chinese takeout.

I regularly come here because it's nearby and it's pretty much like any other greasy Chinese joint. The sesame chicken is my favorite and it's spot on with what you expect sesame chicken to taste like. I've also gotten boneless spare ribs here, which is basically pork marinated in barbeque sauce, which is very tasty. The only thing that I've ever gotten here that I did not like was the beef chow fun, which I got for the thick noodles, but when I got it, it was not flavorful enough. So I'll be sticking with my favorites when I come back for my monthly visit. Prices are reasonable - about $7 for dinner and service is fast.

I ordered food from here almost an hour and a half ago and it still hasn't been delivered. They said it would arrive in half an hour. It's now almost 11pm and I haven't had dinner. I will never order from here again and wish I could get a refund now.

It's actually good cheap Chinese food, but the service is TERRIBLE. The second time we ordered from them, we waited 90 minutes for our order, and had to call twice. Both times I was told it had "just gone out." Really, the delivery guy had probably been out for an hour, because it arrived cold. AND, they forgot something we ordered. I called back, only to be told they would credit us NEXT TIME we ordered. Um, no thanks. Please either give me the credit now or send what I ordered. I was given a major attitude and told I would have to wait 20-25 minutes. Fine, I'll wait. 45 minutes later it arrived. Disaster customer service.

This is one of the very rare restaurants in NYC where you can get good food for cheap. I am also a real pain for them, because I have dietary restrictions AND I am picky about the containers used. They will make alternate versions of things and substitute things like a soup for a roll so that I'm using a small paper bag instead of a plastic soup container. It seems like the negative reviews are mostly about the delivery, which I have only used once but was fast that one time. The interior is not great, but I get take out.

The owner is incredibly nice. Super accommodating with my friends and I needed a place to hide from the rain. Their egg fried rice is also amazing.

In the 36th ave area. There are about 4 chinese food spots. This is one of the best ones. They have all the typical favorites. Lunch specials fun about $6 and regular meals are about $8. They have big portions like others so it's always good to share with a friend.

I ordered beef broccoli from this restaurant since it's close to where I live and it's too cold to go outside and get food. But it was the worst decision ever since the food came with only 6 slices of beef and a small amount of broccoli. Two thirds of the box was filled with rice. I'm very disappointed with this place and when I raised the issue with the restaurant owner, she gave me a lecture about food prices. Will definitely not go back and won't recommend anyone to visit here.

Why 5 stars? It's a Chinese take out!!! And for what it is set out to be. It's awesome. I've come here for 20 years. Never a hair in my food. Yhayyy

THe food is delicious!! I think about there food when I am at work and travel to Sun Wah and get take out for dinner. :) There food is Yummy!! And they are very nice people!!

This bad boy is great for delivery. They have really tasty boneless spare ribs and singapore noodles. The house special soup is flavorful. They are relatively quick on delivery and pretty cheap.

More a 3.5; been coming here for 7+ yrs and its been consistent and decent. This is where most of my fellow employees of Chinese descent come for lunch. Lunch specials for under u$7, soup, entree, rice, very filling. Mentioned here in review of East Garden, so its only fitting to do same; both good, but I tend to go to East Garden slightly more.
