Solid bagels but hardly perfect. First off, yes we live in expensive times, but $3+ a bagel is just ridiculous. Explain to me how the salt bagel is $2.25, the everything bagel is $3 and the "pizza bagel" is $3.50. That just doesn't make any sense to me. You aren't putting $.75 worth of seeds and labor into that everything bagel. An extra .25, maybe. Or is there $1.25 more on the pizza bagel? I don't think so.
So for the quality... These are fresh and pretty good. But they don't have the elasticity that differentiates a bagel from a roll with a hole. These are decidedly fluffier than they should be--which you immediately get (even without tasting them) by the fact that they are very fat (barely any hole at all). So, for NM, they're good. For a true NY-style bagel (of which they're aren't very many in NY anymore), this doesn't quite do it for me. Spreads are solid as is the salmon--though the salmon has a slightly harsh smoke to it reflected in the darkness of the outside. So, I'd go back but I wouldn't rush back.
Folks were nice and smiley. Definitely the Patagonia tribe vibe.
