The 25 Best Restaurants in Albuquerque, New Mexico | Eater

"Before this weekly bagel pop-up started in 2021, a truly outstanding bagel was hard to come by in Albuquerque. Now, after various iterations of pop-ups at breweries and coffee shops, Sunday has a permanent location near downtown and a standing weekend date on Saturdays at the Downtown Growers Market. You’ll find staples like sesame, onion, and everything bagels, but also unique rotating variations like blue corn bagels made with wild rice, herbes de Provence, Earl Grey tea, and local blue corn. Know before you go: Order online to guarantee your selection is in stock." - Justin De La Rosa

Incredible every. single. time. Sunday Bagels always delivers! I truly look forward to the weekends to come here, as they are only available then, and I have to wait a grueling 5 days for their doors to open. My go-to bagel is their Cold-Somoked Salmon on an Everything, but more often than not, I leave here with a few more loose bagels and spreads because I can't get enough. They usually also have a seasonal sando- right now it's their Baked Apple (YUMMM). As an LA native who lived down the block from Courage Bagels... dare I say- I love Sunday Bagels more. Their bagel selection is superb, from their Blue Corn to their Black Sesame Harissa. Thank you Sundays, I have gained 5lbs since moving to ABQ because of you <3

Google
The food was amazing I saw a social media post about this place and I have an affinity for bagels, and this place did not disappoint. The everything bagel, was everything I needed today. But what was most surprising honestly, was the pickled red onions. My goodness they were divine. When I arrived the line was out the door but it loved relatively quickly. They had a good amount of crew working together to get orders completed. I just ate in the parking lot with my truck open and sat out and enjoyed the weather and delicious food. Will definitely be back and heavily recommend this place.

East coast born and raised. I miss the bagels from home but this place scratches the itch perfectly. My favorite bagel spot In Albuquerque, the changing menu, any of the bad reviews on here are far from fair. the flavors, and the serving sizes are perfect, the spicy roasted tomatoes are legendary on almost any bagel, the peach when available is incredible, the salmon is always plenty of meat for the price and very Smokey in flavor. I wish they were open more than just the weekend is about my only complaint.

So good! The line was a little long at 10 on Sunday, but definitely worth the wait. The green chile cheddar bagel was really good and the salmon was fresh. This is one of the best bagel sandwiches I’ve had in the US.

Great selection of bagels and spreads! I got half a dozen to try them throughout the week. Blue corn, rosemary and olive oil, blueberry maple, hot honey garlic habanero, and green chile cheddar. Also, got the scallion and salmon spreads. Yum! Glad we can get these locally!

Visited Sunday Bagels late in the morning and a lot of the bagels were already out, but they seem to still be restocking the display. The shop was very busy, there was a line, but the wait wasn't too long, as well as just a short 10min wait for bagels to be served. Not much seating, so you either wait for a seat, stand somewhere or just have them to-go, this is not a place to slowly enjoy your breakfast, but still loved the vibes and atmosphere. Cinnamon Sugar Bagel with Caramalized Honey Cream Cheese - an unexpected flavour on bagels that worked out really well, this was my favourite. Onion Bialy with Smoked Salmon, dill, pickled red onions and capers - simple and delicious I've also had the Everything Bagel with pickled onions cream cheese at Zendo, very good! My only feedback, it's rather expensive for the size of the bagels and portion of fillings given. I would still return to try more bagels!

Google
In NYC these bagels would just be ok, but I've never found a true NYC bagel outside of the city, so thats not surprising. For ABQ though, these are really good. Lots of selection and different types. Unfortunately these are also quite a bit more expensive than what I usually bought in nyc. But the caramelized honey cream cheese is one of the best cc I've ever had. Its right up there with what you can buy fresh from dairy farms in the northeast. Delicious! Beware, I waited 30+ minutes on a Saturday at 8:30am. Get there early.

Google
This is the best bagel spot in Albuquerque. I have been a Sunday bagels girlie for a few years and I am so happy they have a brick and mortar now!! It’s so beautiful inside and even if it’s busy, they are super efficient! It’s become a personal tradition to go every Saturday when they open. If you don’t go early, they sell out! My favorites are: fermented garlic bagel with veggie cream cheese and salmon, any of their sweet bagels with the caramelized honey spread, and honestly… you can’t go wrong with any of their open faced sandwiches. I tell everyone I know about Sunday bagels, they’re the best. They deserve all the success they get! Try Sunday bagels asap.

Yelp
Overall: I don't really know anything about bagels, but Sunday Bagels are my favorite in Albuquerque (so far) in comparison to Kaufman's, Horizon, and The Bagel & Deli. Food: 5 The bagels are always crisp on the outside with a chewy inside that isn't too dense or fluffy. It tasted good even after letting it cool down for over an hour. Sunday always has og bagel and spread flavors mixed with some interesting flavors that change. Service: 5 The staff is always super friendly and it doesn't take too long to get your order. Ambiance: 4 Sunday now has a brick and mortar shop that is small but still contains a couple of tables inside if you want to eat your bagel asap. The parking lot is large though!

Yelp
Solid bagels but hardly perfect. First off, yes we live in expensive times, but $3+ a bagel is just ridiculous. Explain to me how the salt bagel is $2.25, the everything bagel is $3 and the "pizza bagel" is $3.50. That just doesn't make any sense to me. You aren't putting $.75 worth of seeds and labor into that everything bagel. An extra .25, maybe. Or is there $1.25 more on the pizza bagel? I don't think so. So for the quality... These are fresh and pretty good. But they don't have the elasticity that differentiates a bagel from a roll with a hole. These are decidedly fluffier than they should be--which you immediately get (even without tasting them) by the fact that they are very fat (barely any hole at all). So, for NM, they're good. For a true NY-style bagel (of which they're aren't very many in NY anymore), this doesn't quite do it for me. Spreads are solid as is the salmon--though the salmon has a slightly harsh smoke to it reflected in the darkness of the outside. So, I'd go back but I wouldn't rush back. Folks were nice and smiley. Definitely the Patagonia tribe vibe.

Yelp
Sorry, going to go with overhyped on this one. Liked the concept and wanted to love this place, but it's not doing it for me. Cold Smoked Salmon - 3/5 I like the red chile take on cold smoked salmon, but the lavender doesn't really work in there. Sesame Bagel - 1/5 Flavor is just ok, but could really go without the large salt crystals in the dough. Rosemary and Olive Oil - 2/5 I quite liked the flavor of this one, unfortunately the amount of salt really ruined it for me. Hummus - 4/5 Actually quite a nice spread. I'll be saving this one for some bread later. Overall 2/5 My mouth still tastes of salt more than an hour and a half after eating the bagels. Not only is that a problem from a health standpoint, it's just plain unpleasant. I can't see myself going back here unless the salt level goes way down, which is too bad, because I really like what they're doing.

Yelp
It's so nice to have locally made bagel options! We ordered three different pairs of bagels to pick up on the weekend - fermented garlic and honey, date, and an everything bagel. They were all excellent, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and so much better than anything you can buy at the supermarket. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I tried Sunday Bagels a couple of times at the farmers market so I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of their brick and mortar location. I was delighted to get there just in time to score a cup of coffee and some bagels! Love the new space and that black sesame harissa bagel was magnificent.

Yelp
I've tried a few different bagels at Sunday Bagels and had varying experiences but I recently was craving a bagel so I decided to go to the Grower's Market specifically for one. I got the rosemary and olive oil bagel with caramelized honey smear and it was absolutely awesome, definitely a really great combo.

Yelp

Yelp
Yummy and crispy bagels. Got 3 flavors and wish I had gotten more. I also tried horizon. Preferred Sunday Bagels., Eat in the park; or get it to go!

Yelp
Yummy bagels Awesome people! One of the best bagels I've had in a loooong time! They did a pop up at Mila's Mesa and had wonderful start to my day hope to see you guys next Saturday from 9-12!

Yelp
The best bagels in the southwest. Bagels are delicious and the spreads are excellent. Looking forward to seeing them in their own place. Pick up has never been an issue. They always get the order right and they are friendly and cheerful.

Yelp
So freaking good! I've had little hope for solid bagels in ABQ, but at last we have Sunday Bagels. The bagels are a perfect combo of chewy and airy. The everything bagel is my favorite so far. Green chili cheese has more of a dense texture but has great flavor. The cream cheese is thick and creamy-especially liked the scallion poblano version! Preorder and pickup was easy too. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Had I posted a review when I first tasted a Sunday Bagel a few months ago I would have given it a solid 5 stars but my more recent experience has made me wonder if I'm paying full price for day old bagels. Bagels don't stay fresh for long unfortunately. I want this endeavor to thrive and feel confident that a brick and mortar place will serve me the fresh tender bagels of my earlier tastings and not the tough difficult to chew ones I've bought of late. At least I hope so. I'm going to keep trying.

Yelp
Giving NYC bagels comp, huh Sunday? I'm here for it! Look no further for some absolute amazing bagels! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just like the bagel doctor ordered! You can preorder on insta but I warn you, I was 26min late and they were already sold out! You can also show up at 10am to get those they sell there, but better be their early as the line gets long... fast! Try their green chile cheese bagel with their green chile cream cheese. Best My husband and I have ever had! (And let me tell you, I have bagels shipped in from NYC ) They make everything from scratch themselves and you can taste the love baked right in! I have no idea where you came from Sunday, but I thank my friend Fallon from The Sprouting Kitchen for introducing me!

Yelp
Best onions bagels ever tasted. But also check out the green Chile cheddar, everything, salt and more. Homemade spreads add to the great tastes. Best in Albuquerque.

Yelp
I've searched Albuquerque for 40 years to find a good New York style pumpernickel bagel, and I finally found one at Sunday bagels. Can't get enough of them. They're chewy, dense, and it's hard to stop at one. Also innovative flavors like orange Julia as well as traditional ones like poppy seed, which is dense with roasted seeds.
