It’s Manhattan Season — Here’s Where to Drink One in Indianapolis This February | Eater

"Head to the Art Deco Bottleworks Hotel across the street from landmark food hall, The Garage. Revelers here will find like-minded sippers in conversation or a romantic interlude. Located in a former bottling plant turned boutique hotel, the darkened nooks and quiet crannies are the perfect setting for a 30-day barrel-aged Angel’s Envy Manhattan. A large chandelier hanging over the bar casts a romantic ambiance, so it’s an easy spot for date night, too." - Vox Creative

Went last night for book club and was impressed! 40 of us came in and once and the bartenders handled it fantastically!! They had special drink menus that were book themed that I thought was so thoughtful!

Google
This place is such a vibe to grab a pre or post dinner cocktail! It’s inside the Bottleworks Hotel, and it feels like you’re stepping into a hotel bar of the past with how dark and cozy it is in there. There’s tons of tables and ones big enough for large parties to all sit together. The service was friendly and quick and the drinks were well made and aesthetically pleasing. 10/10 would come back again!

Google
Not your typical hotel bar. Maybe because it isn't owned by the hotel. They have a really cool, retro atmosphere. I had my doubts on some of their cocktails, but they turned out very good. Mixes I never would have thought of. Very friendly bar tenders, too. Great cocktail bar across from The Garage at NE end of Mass Ave. Check it out.

My first visit to Sundry and Vice was for a book club meeting and it was wonderful! The space was intimate but not cramped, and the bartenders were so kind and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

I attended the Indy Book and Sip event at Sundry and Vice this week and cannot speak highly enough of the venue! Such a cool vibe, very good ambiance, and excellent drinks! I would highly recommend stopping by if you are in the Bottleworks area!

Google
4.5+ Newest cocktail bar in Bottleworks. Great atmosphere. All drinks are ordered at the bar, no table service which makes things quick when wanting a drink. Nice, low-mid level lighting. Very friendly, all around enjoyable music. Drinks are above average and very unique. The draft cocktails are good, and hand made prior to draft. The draft drinks run $1 less than craft draft prices and are amazing for a draft cocktail. BUT you can get a personalized, hand-craft mixed cocktail for only 1 dollar more by the wonderful bar staff. Cocktails themselves could use a little adjusting and possibly a more in-depth drink menu, but for only their 3rd night open, it's pretty wonderful. Overall, I'd highly recommend giving it a try here, lots of potential of being THE downtown go-to spot for relaxing with a great beverage! 🙂

My husband and I decided to pop in here while waiting for our table at Bodhi. It was a rainy Friday night and there was plenty of available seating. We entered through the hotel’s main entrance where the bar is just to the left. A hostess checked our id’s upon entry and then told us we could sit wherever we’d like. My husband ordered us drinks at the bar. Both were enjoyable and had high quality ingredients. The atmosphere is dark and moody and the service was friendly. I’d definitely return and look forward to trying more of their cocktails.

Look, I get the target vibe, but it’s a very thin facade: Fake marble tables, poor craftsmanship (IKEA?) chairs, pre-made mix drinks at absurd prices, and I could go on. Everything about this place is fake luxury, and is best visited by those who buy designer clothes and cars so that others can see them in them. You will find no true culture here, for Sundry and Vice is the living, breathing definition of kitsch

Yelp
We LOVE Sundry and Vice. The bartenders working were so funny and kind. I love that they mix up the menu and they have the best funky, cool craft cocktails. The atmosphere is very swanky, a mix of modern and vintage speakeasy tones. We got our engagement pictures here, which they don't mind.

Yelp
I love the original in Cincinnati, and was concerned that an expansion to another city would t work. Man was I wrong. This place is larger than the original but has the same vibe (chill or higher energy depending on the crowd and the time.). What is the same is amazing cocktails. I had two different riffs on classics: A Manhattan with rum, Cynar and a lot of love and. Mezcal Negronish drink that was amazing and complex. Go here and order off the menus or have the bartender craft something do you. Either way works you can't go wrong. I love this place.

Yelp
Stopped by for a drink while waiting on our dinner reservations. The ambiance, customer service, and drinks are all a 10/10. Drinks: Penicillin Be Dirty

Yelp
I think this place is awesome, I wanted to stop in before heading home for the night, the ambiance there is awesome, the whole design in general of bottle works is fantastic. The bartenders are always friendly! I love the on tap gin and tonic, they are refreshing and tasty! I had two and called it a night, check them out if you are in the area!

Yelp
I think Sundry has to be my favorite cocktail bar in Indianapolis. Hidden in the Bottleworks hotel, you have GOT to check out these handcrafted cocktails. The bartenders are so knowledgeable and can help you pick the best drink for you depending on the vibe you're going for. Today I started w the Fruit of Life draft cocktail and was just as impressed as their handcrafted cocktails! I love ginger beer and strawberry and this was exactly what I needed on this summer day. I then transitioned to Persephone's papercut (Barrel Aged Gin, Passionfruit, Honey, Lemon, Serrano pepper, Mint) which kept w the refreshing theme but had a little secret kick w the pepper that I loved. This place never missed a step. I can't wait for you to try them yourselves

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots in the area that i seem to come back to time and time again. The vibes are relaxed but elegant. The drink menu is varied and they have one of my favorite espresso martinis in Indy. I also love the citrus flavor od their "army navy" cocktail.

Yelp
The ambiance here is phenomenal. Very 1920's art deco style inside that offers somewhat of a speakeasy vibe to the whole place. Some of the bartenders I've encountered are super knowledgeable about alcohol and make for fun conversation and learning while you drink! Their signature cocktails are delightful and offer lots of fresh ingredients and flavors. We love getting dressed up and having girls night out here.

Yelp
Had the most amazing hard cider on tap here -- Marigold Chai Cider from Ash & Elm. Amazing atmosphere, staff were super kind and great!

Yelp
This place is a slightly hidden gem behind the lobby of the Bottleworks hotel. My first attempt to go here was after a training session. We had gotten some drink tickets. Unfortunately our training got out quite a bit before open time so I wasn't able to stay. My second attempt was on a random Thursday after closing down another location. It's a perfect night cap or date night option. There are some secluded tables for the ability to talk and hear. The ambience is a perfect fit to Bottleworks. Bartenders are friendly and drinks are on point!

Yelp
This is a top 5 cocktail lounge in the city, in my opinion. The cocktails are curated by the bartenders, usually every 6 months. The creativity and depth of these cocktails are impressive. The bartenders do quite a good job in guiding folks to cocktails that fit their tastes/preferences. My suggestion would be an Eastside with fort Hamilton gin. The cocktail is essentially a gimlet with cucumber and mint. Fort Hamilton gin is craft spirit out of Brooklyn. It features cucumber and watermelon within the botanicals to create a soft, bright and smooth gin which plays phenomenally in cocktails. The ambiance is great as it is located on ground floor near lobby of bottleworks hotel. It's apothecary themed and has a bit of a speakeasy vibe. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We wanted rye old fashioneds, a rye manhattan, and an espresso martini. The bartender suggested Angles Envy rye for the three drinks, but did not tell us the price. We received a $108 bill for the four drinks. When you don't suggest a roulette or bulleit rye, or explicitly state the price of a much more expensive rye, you aren't creating a good experience for your customers. Who pours a $28+ drink and doesn't mention the price? We've been here 10+ times and never will be back.

Yelp
This is my single favorite bar in Indy. And I moved here from Cincinnati and loved it there too so I come a bit biased but this is the definition of true hand crafted cocktails! The menu changes frequently as if this is a fine dining establishment haha I love it! Today I got the group therapy which was a refreshing cocktail which was not too boozey and had a ton of flavors that worked well together: Tequila, Vermouth, Honeydew, Simple. Lemon, Cucumber, Strawberry, Lavender, Black salt, Tajin... this is what the menu claims and honestly every flavor of this is nestled perfectly in this cocktail. I give it a 10/10! Also since there is happy hour now in Indiana (yay) ... I posted their happy hour menu! These drinks can get pricey... and I think they are worth it but it's nice to have a little dealy-deal too haha! Great service as always! Great vibes! Definitely stop in here if you are in town. It has plenty of room as well so it'll rarely be a packed uncomfy bar vibe in this place!

Yelp
I absolutely love Sundry and Vice. Here's the move. You go to Bodhi. Put your name on the list. Then walk to S&V to pregame during your hour plus wait. I've had about 10 different drinks at this point and I'm not sure what my favorite is! I always forget to take pictures of drinks, so sorry no pictures. I think the Black Mamba is my current favorite. Really cool atmosphere! It's in the Bottleworks hotel right off the lobby. Couches and booths and plenty of seating. Highly highly recommend.

Yelp
Stopped in for drinks after eating at The Garage. The drinks were good and service was nice but can take some time to get a drink. We were there around 700pm and the atmosphere was bright and no musics on so the vibe was a little weird. Finally around 800 they dimmed the lights and we're about to put music on. Great location and inside the Bottleworks Hotel
google avatar

Ethan Z.

Yelp
This place is awesome and located right inside the Bottleworks Hotel! They have a few different rotating non-alcoholic mock-tails which i really appreciate. They are crafted to be like real cocktails and the taste is amazing! The service is quick and easy and the atmosphere is dark and cozy. Great place to get a few drinks before or after dinner! Be sure to check this place out if you enjoy an NA Mocktail!

Yelp
My friend and I checked out this spot after a pacers game. I loved the chill vibes and the drinks. I don't remember the music being that great, but music is also subjective. The service was also very quick. I do plan to visit on a Thursday night, where I hear the music and crowd is more lively.

Yelp
Love this place. Always chill and a great place to people watch at their outdoor area.

Chris B.

Yelp
This is located in the former Coca Cola bottling plant. The bar is in the Bottleworrks Hotel. Do you like Art deco? Classic styling. Same owners as the Sundry and Vice in Cincinnati. Same great cocktails. My suggestion to the owners is to not run contemporary music at certain times of the day but stuff from the 30's and 40's. Sets the mood and atmosphere a little differently.
google avatar

Faith B.

Yelp
First time there and I wasn't disappointed. You have to go up to the bar and get your drinks but the ambience is nice and the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. I always have questions when at a new location with new drinks. I'd highly recommend going here with your coworkers, girlfriends, etc. Note: they don't serve food but there's plenty of options in the area.

Yelp
Hey friends, "here are a few spots I haven't been to in Indy - narrow it down to one and we'll go there".... voila, that's how I ended up at Sundry and Vice last Saturday and it did not disappoint. For starters, this place has a dark and moody vibe that was perfect for our chilly Friday evening visit. The bartenders were warm and friendly - they were probably one of my favorite parts of the business. Note that Sundry and Vice is located in the Bottleworks Hotel directly behind the lobby. I ordered the Apple Butter Jeans cocktail with apple brandy, rye whiskey, fernet, lemon, sinnamon, apple budder and Yuzu bitters. It was SO good and perfect for a chilly night. I'm still thinking about how delicious that drink was... Note to self: walk here no matter what in the future - parking can get quite congested..and $$$ if you don't get a street spot. Looking forward to future visits.

Yelp
Nice bar inside of Bottleworks Hotel! I stopped by to grab a drink and was greeted immediately at the bar. The bartenders were nice and one made me an awesome tequila sour. There are several different tables and booths around if you want to stay and hang out. If you're staying at the hotel and want to bring your drink to your room - you can! Just let your bartender know since it has to be in plastic ware. They had a solid menu full of unique cocktails as well if you want to try something new. I'd recommend dropping by if you're in the mood for a good cocktail.

Yelp
This place is pretty cool, but what sets it apart is the drinks. They have SUCH an original cocktail menu. Mine had blue cheese listed as an ingredient? There may have been to add some depth, but it did not TASTE like blue cheese. My fiancé got one that had cornflakes as an ingredient and my did it taste like cornflakes! My takeaway was order what sounds interesting to you- they were all amazing. Between the two of us we tried 4 drinks and they were all impressive. I also got a cocktail that used red wine as an ingredient- it was like if sangria were made into a stronger cocktail. It was amazing! They also have about half of their cocktails "on tap" which is unique and interesting! I am excited to go back and try some more cocktails. It is conveniently located in the bottleworks hotel, but you do not need to be a guest in order to go enjoy a drink.

Rion B.

Yelp
Classy, laid back cocktail lounge. Lots of different liquor and cocktail combinations to at everyone can find something. Pool table in the hotel lobby that elevated the experience. Good spot to stop by for a short time with some friends.

Yelp
While at dinner, we were recommended to go here by an AMAZING (seriously probably the best server I've ever had at Livery) server name Cody. I've been wanting to stay at bottle works for the longest but I can't justify the price just yet lol. The bar in the hotel is so beautiful, not only is it aesthetically pleasing to the eye it's HUGE...they don't serve food but you're more then welcome to bring in your own food which is okay in my book! The service was decent, the first bartender I had let me sample two different cocktails because I couldn't make up my mind...I've never had this happen so that was very thoughtful. I opted for the "2-1-2 Buck" which was a very refreshing whisky based cocktail with ginger beer. The service once we received our drinks went down a notch, the bartender we had was working the other side of bar so we ended up having another bartender who was nice, but not as attentive. They're also very pushy about holding your credit card for a tab. When we went to cash out we were advised a young lady picked our tab up and that was the cherry on top to a pretty good night! If I see her out again I'll be sure to return the favor.

Yelp
Come for the vibe. The drinks are excellent, but it's 2023 and there are dozens of great places to get a good cocktail in Indy. What stands out at Sundry and Vice is the bar space cut-out of one of the most iconic historic buildings in Indianapolis. It's the place you should take every out of towner to have a drink -- even if they're from Cincinnati. Yes, Sundry and Vice didn't get their start in Indy. But they definitely made a hell of a moody apothecary out of their space. It feels like it's always been in the building and suits the vibe well, but that undersells just how much work went into designing the interior, which looked nothing like it does now. The cooler months are the perfect time to pop in for many of their cocktails, which lean towards the strong and boozy. They also make excellent mocktails, and have a bare-bones beer and wine menu, although I'd stick to the cocktails here.
google avatar

Molly Z.

Yelp
The spicy Paloma was great! Definitely had a nice kick to it. We loved the lighting and velvet couches. The bartend was nice and helpful with drink recommendations. This is a great spot for a pre or post dinner drink!
google avatar

Sheree W.

Yelp
Yay! A great bar inside Bottleworks Hotel! Great music, good vibes nice selection. Really nice craft cocktail menu as well. I'm a sucker for cocktails that include egg white and I think they have maybe 3 on their menu. They don't serve you at your table, you have to go to the bar to order which is slightly annoying, but outside of that it's a cool addition to to Bottleworks area!
google avatar

Crystal T.

Yelp
I'm fairly new to trying espresso martinis but this has been my favorite spot for them so far. The drinks never miss and there's a good selection to choose from....I've had a couple of custom creations which were amazing. My most recent visit there happened to be a patron event going on and there was also a DJ so a nice vibe with the music. Its a nice after work place to unwind with friends or to just go solo. There is no food available(but they have chips lol) but there are options right across the street. Highly recommend:)
google avatar

Timothy T.

Yelp
Be aware, if you are trying to come here the first few days after the New Year, they will be closed. This is the second year in a row we've stayed at Bottleworks the first week of the year and the bar has been closed during our entire stay. There will be no sign stating as such but the doors are indeed locked and the place is closed. Still hoping to check it out some day.

Yelp
So cute! I loved this little find. It was so cozy with an amazing signature smell that permeates the area. The espresso martini was chef's kiss and the workers were extremely friendly!

Yelp
Came here to grab a drink before dinner with a friend and it was so pleasantly nice! Honestly would have missed this place cause it's tucked away on the side of the street in front of The Garage Indy but I was so happy I found it! When I walked in I couldn't help but take in the warm and cozy ambiance. I like the fact that there is plenty of seating inside and outside as well! We went to the bar and the bartender made us a delicious grape drink. Overall great vibes, service, and delicious drinks! Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Finally made it to Sundry and Vice for a first visit. The vibe certainly lives up to what you see in the pictures. It's cocktail lounge-y without being too cramped or intimate. In fact, there is some room to roam around with a variety of seating arrangements (booths, tables/chairs, sofas). From what I heard Sundry and Vice is known for their draft cocktails. This is a nice option for those who don't like to wait for drinks but don't want to compromise on quality. I tried several: Old Fashioned (straightforward and kinda minty), Mile High (nutty bourbon drink), and Espresso Martini (dessert cocktail that is not too sweet). Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to try the rest of the lineup. You can also order standalone cocktails and beer/wine. I was visiting with a large group for an after-hours event. The staff did a great job keeping up with the influx of people. While it was a bit loud and hard to hear, Sundry and Vice is a better bet for smaller groups and quieter conversations. It's actually a nice change of pace compared to the busier establishments around the Bottleworks district.
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
What a prime location for an average experience. The whole area is popping but pretty sedate inside this bar. Drinks we had were outstanding and for $11, cheaper slightly than going rates. This is a serve yourself place. Go to the bar and order and bring to your table. No cocktail napkins under my leaky drink. A variety of seating options. Nothing to write home about.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Love the Sunday vibe, not too busy but busy enough. The atmosphere is very lowkey and the pool table in the lobby of the hotel is a plus. I also had an martini expresso - the drink was strong, I preferred the Chanel No. 5 - I am looking forward to coming back.
google avatar

Amber C.

Yelp
So pretty! I've been meaning to visit Bottleworks for a while now, and it was truly worth the wait. Sundry & Vice is so pretty inside! The decor definitely matches the art deco design of the original building. I was surprised by it's tardis-like interior (bigger on the inside!). The cocktails were expertly crafted and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I imagine this would be a great place to meet up with a group of friends for cocktails & conversation ~or~ a perfect place to find a quiet nook for date night. The possibilities are endless!
google avatar

Yelp
Checked out a new spot last weekend called @sundryandviceindy inside of the bottleworks hotel ! I loved the vibe, and the drink selection ! They have craft cocktails which I love ! The actually have a couple of cocktails on draft which is pretty dope ! We tried the old fashioned on draft and it didn't miss ! Check out this place for amazing craft cocktails!
google avatar

Anvaya B.

Yelp
I went to this place for the first time as I heard from my friends they have a good variety of cocktails. This place does have some interesting selection of cocktails! I tried the LDC first which was Mezcal, Cabernet , Ginger , Lime mix! I loved it! If you like the the taste of smoky mezcal and ginger this is the cocktail to try. I also tried the espresso martini. It was ok. Definitely liked the first one better. You can go for if you want a strong coffee taste and very little vodka feel!

Yelp
S&V is already a hot spot and we love to stop by for a cocktail before hitting the evening's entertainment. The bartenders are beyond phenomenal and they can mix up libations that will knock you out (figuratively). They can make you anything or go completely off menu and deliver something different with a story to back up the off-menu item. You should come in and sit a spell, let the mixologists do their thing, and enjoy the people watching.

Yelp
This has quickly become one of my favorite bars in indy. Drinks : 5/5 Get the espresso martini and gentle thoughts Service: 5/5 The staff is super friendly and give great drink recommendations. Drinks come out pretty quickly considering the cocktails have a lot of ingredients. Ambiance : 5/5 Everything feels brand new and is very clean. The decorations fit well within the theme of being in the old coke building. There is also outdoor seating that is shielded from the rain so you can enjoy your drinks outside. Price:5/5 For being such a nice place the drinks are pretty reasonable. I thought it would be expensive because it is a hotel bar but most drinks are 13 and under compared to the 15 plus on other similar themed bars. Overall: 5/5 I keep coming back to this place. It's not too busy, you get delicious drinks, and the service is great. Be sure stop in.
google avatar

Lizz M.

Yelp
If you're looking for a nice chill cocktail lounge, this is the place to go! Located inside Bottleworks hotel, parking is easily accessible on the street for free parking or if you want to be closer they have ticketed parking lots. The first time I went it was very busy on Friday night but last night it wasn't. It was after midnight so maybe that's why. The drinks are phenomenal and the bartenders do a great job! Tried the Chanel no. 5 last night and of you like champagne then you definitely need to try it!
google avatar

Yelp
Was excited to check this place out but was underwhelmed. The vibe is nice and fun. My issue is them charging $15 for a cocktail that came from a tap. I don't have a problem paying for a good craft cocktail, but charging the same price for one that came out of a tap that doesn't taste near as good as fresh isn't ideal.

Carly P.

Yelp
The drinks I got were really good and they have a great drink selection and the environment was good as well!

Yelp
Great hidden gem. Not pack. Comfy seating and yummy drinks. Super friendly bartenders are always a bonus!

Yelp
Sundry and Vice is such a hidden gem in the Bottleworks district. I stumbled across it with a friend during a quick peek into the hotel and absolutely loved the dark and moody vibe. I highly recommend the espresso martini--it's one of the best I've had so far. If you looking for a more quiet spot in the area then definitely check them out!
google avatar

Mollie Z.

Yelp
I went to S&V in a small group on a Friday night around 7pm and we grabbed a booth without issue. The bar did fill up a bit more shortly after. Overall, I really enjoyed the bar- dark, moody atmosphere while still feeling more upbeat. The only criticism I would share is that many of their cocktails are on draft. While I do enjoy some draft cocktails, drinks like an old fashioned or Manhattan should really be made individually if you ask me. I felt like they were subpar for the price. However, overall I did enjoy the bar and the espresso martini and I would go back!
google avatar

Keishmary S.

Yelp
Love their Cincy spot and was pleasantly surprised when I came across it in Indiana with my brother. The aesthetic and ambience was a great place to chill while we waited for our table at Modita. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol I especially love their mocktails. This time I asked the bartender to give me whatever he wanted and I ended with a fruity, berry drink that had a splash of aloe. It was great and a definite recommended place!

Yelp
This place has such a cool vibe! It's very low key on a Sunday not busy at all. Beautiful interior. Great drinks. Quick service.

Yelp
Came here for a drink after dinner and really enjoyed our cocktails. The very neat ambiance and super friendly mixologist were helpful to choose the menu. I will definitely be back!
