Sunflower Bakery was tucked away , but it was worth finding. What led us here on a road trip were the online reviews mentioning gluten free goods. They had a mixture of gluten free, nut free, and regular baked goods. The baked goods were delicious. I tried the gluten free millionaire bars and the gluten free almond choco-chip loaf - they were both delicious. My husband had a blueberry muffin he said was fluffy, aromatic, and fresh. What we did not know prior to our visit was the mission of the bakery, which touched me as an educator. I would go here again and again if I was a local.

We got the most incredible Gluten Free cake and cookies from Sunflower. We had a custom order that was prepared perfectly. Pick up was easy and everything as expected. The guest of honor was GF and loved the Almond berry cake. There were multiple “gluten free skeptics” at the party who remarked while they normally didn’t like Gluten Free baked goods this was “actually” good. I can’t not recommend highly enough, particularly for those with dietary considerations. Excited to try even more of Sunflower’s offerings.

Great little bakery with a terrific mission. Got a pumpkin bread loaf - so moist and tasty. Reasonable prices and friendly staff.

this is my favorite cafe ever! the pastries are amazing, the oatmilk coffees are excellent and the staff are so friendly and helpful. highly recommend the crumb bars and galette. i only wish i knew about it earlier, i walked past it all the time to go to twinbrook metro station!

A friend brought your gluten-free strawberry cake to our dinner party for our dessert, and it was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be coming to sunflower bakery in the future! It was also beautifully decorated on top of tasting so wonderful!

My wife is on a business trip to Rockville, Maryland; I am in Colorado. I wanted to send her and the office mates a pre-valentine gift. To make matters more complicated. She eats only gluten-free. I was able to locate this bakery online. The main office was called, and I was advised to speak directly to the bakery in order to have a delivery made that day. Upon reaching the bakery, I was speaking to Derrick. Derrick explained to me that most orders are 48 hours in advance, but he understood my situation. Together with me on his website and him looking at the shelves for available items, we were able to put together a fabulous order of cake and cookies for my wife’s office. Derrick did an amazing job of Customer Service . I cannot speak as to the deliciousness of the product as I am 1700 miles away, but it sure looks tasty, and everyone said, “Thank you.” Thank you again, Derrick. You rock!

I loved the apple crumble tart and oat milk cappuccino! And the bright color scheme of the shop. Every other person who came in while I was eating got challah so that seems to be popular

Sunflower Bakery work with individuals with learning disabilities and helps them get accredited in pastry arts, and find careers. Their mission is so needed in this world, and as a bonus, they make amazing desserts! They have a vegan tab on their website so it is very clear what desserts have no dairy and eggs. My two favorite treats are their unicorn cookies and apricot crumb bars. Both do not last more than a few days at my home. Thanks for all you do Sunflower Bakery and keep it up!

Came for the cause, stayed for the flavor! I tried a chocolate cake pop, and oh my goodness--the cosmic brownies from my childhood are here! I would eat one hundred of these if I could, they're so good!

1- if you don't get the apricot crumb bars, you are missing out- they are our fav! 2- husband retired and wanted chocolate buttercream. Ordered the cake to go with it... yummy! Can hardly wait for the next visit!

While I don't celebrate Purim, when these delicious treats are generally devoured, I do support this bakery that employs young adults with learning differences. Giving these individuals the training they need for a career in food services is paramount. I ordered a dozen chocolate filled hamantaschen. During this particular holiday season you can pick them up from the bakery, or pick them up from various drop off locations. I was sold when I discovered one of the drop offs was a mile from my home. These cookies are delicious. They're very buttery, and they were larger than I expected. I paid $14 for a dozen. They are cheaper, albeit smaller than Parkway Deli's version, but quite a good deal. They are kosher, and they do make a GF version that my neighbor buys for her daughter. When spring eventually springs, I plan to make a visit to their storefront location. It's a win-win indulgence in my book.

This is one of our go to bakeries for cupcakes and sweet treats. They make the perfect sized cupcakes that are easy to eat and share. It is hard to stop at just one, so we always buy a few extra. We generally get these flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Red Velvet. We are also fans of the Lemon Bars and Brownies as well The staff is very friendly and always ready to help and give suggestions to make up our mind!

I can't say enough good things about this bakery. Everything they make is delicious. The carrot cake is probably one of the best I've ever had. How many times can someone say they've had items from a bakery that taste homemade? Well, this is it. I love that they give employment & training opportunities for those with different abilities!

I love everything about Sunflower, especially the people that work there. I'm always greeted with a smile.Their Challahs are delicious as well as all their sweets. I often go in and have a latte or dirty chai latte. Perfectly brewed. I went to their graduation ceremony a few weeks ago. Absolutely spectacular. The place is spotless. I don't live near the two locations, but it is definitely worth the trip.

I guess I'm in the minority here because I didn't enjoy the baked goods at Sunflower Bakery at all. The cupcakes had too much frosting for my liking and I found it to be rather waxy. Out of the cupcakes I tried, the vanilla with chocolate frosting was the best, but still jusy okay. The cookies were surprisingly not a hit at all in my household. They were super tiny and on the dry side. I do like the story behind Sunflower Bakery and applaud them for it. I'm hoping it was an off day in the shop, so will try them again in the future.

I had a last minute custom request for a corporate event. Sunflower Bakery responded to my Facebook message and dove right into my inquiry. Kimberly was excellent to work with, and they were extremely accommodating. They turned around 100+ DELICIOUS cupcakes for my event. Seriously, everyone was raving about how good the cupcakes were. Cannot thank them enough for their timely turnaround, professionalism, and quality of cakes & service. Their mission is also incredible, and I highly encourage everyone to stop in and order from Sunflower!

The best. Delicious bakery and they hire individuals with disabilities. Everyone is super nice and just an overall pleasant experience.

This is over of those hidden casual bakeries that you'll never regret visiting. Sunflower doesn't have a huge selection of options but everything that they have is amazing. Their sugar cookies and oatmeal cookies are some of the best I've ever had. BONUS: they're kosher for catering!

I stopped into Sunflower Bakery this afternoon and I'm glad I did! First of all if you don't know their story and background do yourself a favor and read up- it's such a cool place. *plus, did you know they are Kosher?!* I was greeted the minute I walked through the door. You have to be buzzed into the actual building but no biggy. Michael helped me pick out some cookies and a lemon bar. The pricing was on point (bars are $2 and cookies are $1.75) , I wish I would've bought more but maybe next time. Overall everything I got tasted great. My snickerdoodle cookie was straight up the best one I've had in a long time! The lemon bar was sticky, sweet, tangy and all kinds of yummy. I haven't broken into the remaining chocolate chip cookie but it looks and smells delicious. I'll definitely be back soon and highly recommend checking this bakery out. It's not huge, but what they do sell is worth the trip.

I haven't been back in a while, but I love this place. I wish it were closer to my home They have great challah and their hamantaschen were delicious. It's a little out-of-the-way but I hope to get back soon. I love what they are doing to employ people with learning differences. A great mission, achieved deliciously!

Outstanding Almond Chocolate Gluten Free Bundt Cake. Wonderful cake and service. We can't wait for the next one.

I needed a cake for my mother's birthday and she was in the mood for a cake with almond flavor in it. Luckily, i found Sunflower bakery and their almond pound cake. I placed an order two days in advance but had to change pick up times and they were very accommodating. The pound cake itself was delicious. My only critique is that the berry buttercream was a little sweeter than expected, but I'm sure that can be tweaked if requested. The macaroons were as cute as a button and memorable.

My husband ordered my birthday cake from here.....BEST CAKE EVER! So moist and tasty! The customer service was exemplary and we will definitely be going back!!

Excellent bakery with a great mission full of heart and deliciousness. It was Purim and needed hamantaschen, and luckily I stumbled upon Sunflower Bakery. Their 'taschen were super soft and super yummy. They were better than my mother-in-law's homemade ones. Shhhh don't tell her. Can't wait to return to try something new!

Sunflower Bakery is a non-profit that offers job training to students to learn about baking, sales etc. Please read more about their mission on their website! It is a wonderful organization and one I am happy to support. I received wonderful service at Sunflower bakery. The raspberry bar and sugar cookies I've tried are delicious. They also offer challah, muffins, cakes, brownies, cookies and much more. They have many products that are nut free and or gluten free. You can pickup a cake/pie last minute or order in advance. I am planning on ordering a birthday cake from here soon.

I found this business searching local bakeries and I wanted to support their idea. I ordered the brownie pops for a neighbor party and now I have two reasons to order from them. The brownie pops were rich and delicious and went fast. Look forward to trying more of their items.

Sunflower Bakery nailed the individually wrapped treats for the school faculty and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. Muffins on Tuesday and cute cookies on Wednesday.

The folks at Sunflower couldn't be more accommodating. I made a mistake when I ordered cupcakes for my grandson's birthday, and they fixed my mistake, made the cupcakes just as I'd wanted and never chastised me for making the mistake in the first place. Great customer service, great products, great mission.

I bought their gluten free almond cake and it was really good and moist and tasted different from other almond cakes I have tried. I am going back there for sure. My next order for baked goods for any event is coming from there. I learned that Sunflower Bakery prepares individuals with learning disability for the job market. You rarely find these kinds of initiatives run successfully. Kudos to your work and keep up the quality of your products.

We ordered a pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and thumbprints for our Thanksgiving this year. All were absolutely fantastic!!!

If you haven't tasted the pastries from this fantastic bakery you don't know what you are missing. Everything is delicious! And they have the best GF (gluten free) products I've ever tasted--brownies, cookies, cakes. Yum Yum! (AND when you buy their scrumptious goodies you are supporting employment and career training for individuals with disabilities. Can't beat that!!)

We needed to find a kosher chocolate chocolate cake for our daughter's birthday. So we got a birthday cake from them and it was delicious and reasonably priced. We needed to pick up early, and they were able to accommodate us very easily. Pick up was very pleasant, as the woman who helped me was extremely friendly and nice. All the kids at our daughter's birthday party loved the cake, as did we. The icing was really good, unlike typical grocery store cakes it actually tasted like chocolate. Really delicious!

This is the best bakery EVER! Awesome mission with the most delicious baked goods. Worth the straight to the hips trip :-)
