Really enjoyed their chicken pesto sandwich, as well as their watermelon lemonade drink. I appreciate that they have half orders if you’re not as hungry! Not usually a sandwich person, but I really enjoyed this meal! 10/10! Would recommend.

Google
Everything about this place is amazing. I came for the sandwiches, but every request I had was not only fulfilled, but made me feel great. They have decaf, and Paige waited until I had brought my own cup in, opened the door for me when I was carrying a bunch of stuff, and showed me the bathroom. They even asked me how many sugars I wanted in my second cup of coffee because they noticed me putting sugars in the first. Bob was helpful and kind with the menu, and let me charge my battery at their outlets as well. The Italian soda I got to go was delicious as well (green apple and vanilla, with cream)

Google
This is by far my favorite Escondido breakfast spot! The breakfast sandwiches are to die for, and I wake up craving one most mornings. We even make the trip from North Park. The employees are so kind and generous and very accommodating to dogs! Definitely worth making this a regular stop in your breakfast routine! Secret: they have a lovely back patio.

Oooh, I loved this place. It's cute, intimate, great service, and I loved my food and coffee. Did I mention bingo? Just go, the staff is friendly the grilled cheese was yummy. They also offer gluten-free choices.

Google
This is a cute mom and pop type of sandwich place here in Escondido! Was passing by so I thought I would give it a shot. The food was tasty and the staff were very kind. I do like these type of businesses. Good quality ingredients you can tell. The only setback I would really think of here is the cost of sandwiches and any type of additions to it. The sandwich I got was a breakfast panini, I liked it a lot. The cost of the sandwich is $25 for a moderately sized sandwich. I was a little surprised to see $6 to add avocado to a sandwich. I was a little surprised to only see a sparing amount of chicken in the sandwich considering the price. This was probably the most I have ever personally spent on a sandwich, after taxes and a slight tip you are looking at about $30 for a sandwich. I do recommend the place if you are looking for a new spot to try out with a good reputation and quality ingredients. I won’t be able to come very frequently for a costly sandwich but I will definitely come back. Check them out! The staff recommended me to try a few different sauces so I told him to give me whatever he liked and he gave me 4 different options, that was really nice of him. I liked the pesto and honey mustard options.

Google
Hands down, my favorite restaurant. The type of eatery you want to tell all your friends about because it's so delicious and you can order online, I really love the lunch special add a peach Italian soda🌞💫💫💫

Google
I’ve been there multiple times and every time the service is amazing and friendly and the food always delicious. We were helped by a very young woman with brownish/blonde hair who treated us very nicely. She was working very hard, zooming around doing a a million things and still managed to be very attentive despite us being there near their closing time. They truly love what they do and they love their customers. It shows.

Google
Yum! We had an assortment of their delicious cookies and carrot cake muffin and their pesto and tuscan sandwiches. An adorably friendly family owns this amazing artsy cafe. Warm vibes and today is their 10th anniversary in business!

Yelp
Wonderful family run business. Highly recommend! Support local. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I walked in and got greeted by the sweetest woman name Kate, which is the owner. She opened the place by the motto she lives by: always live on the sunny side, and that is definitely felt with the vibe and staff at this cute little spot we stumbled across while we were having a random thrift shopping day. We had the caprese panini that's off the menu that was delicious. They put Parmesan on their sourdough bread, then they use goat cheese and pesto and roasted tomatoes inside, and the strawberry salad that has goat cheese and roasted almond slivers that was so fresh and delicious! Super cute spot for brunch or lunch!

Yelp
I ordered the breakfast panini with all the fixings, a coffee, and a lemon blueberry muffin. While the sandwich and muffin were delicious, $28 felt steep for what I received. The portion of avocado was small, and there was no bacon to justify that price. The owners were friendly, which I appreciate. If budget isn't a concern, this might be your spot. As for me, I don't mind paying a premium--as long as the quality and portions match the price. For example, The Griddle in L.A. has a pricey breakfast menu, but every bite is worth it. It would be great to see SSK level up their breakfast offerings to match the cost. Ambiance: cozy, but the seat cushions are extremely dirty--please consider washing them.

Yelp
The food was very tasty Service very friendly However beware that the portion of the half panini is more like a kids meal size. We were still hungry after it. The full size would have been too much and too pricey . Just wish they had only one size sandwich at a regular size and price.

Yelp
Worth the hype!!! Everything is so fresh, the bread is phenomenal, the eggs are perfectly cooked. Chefs kiss for "the works" breakfast panini. The staff is also so sweet and it's just a cute local vibe. 100% would go again!

Yelp
There are so few family run places these days and it was so nice to be greeted warmly and served delicious food. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch paninis which come with a side of fresh fruit. There was cozy indoor and shaded outdoor seating.

Yelp
This is cute café is my son's favorite restaurant in Escondido- and mine as well. The Original fully loaded breakfast sandwich is delicious and they make beautiful Italian sodas which makes my boys feel like they are celebrating. The salads are wonderful, specifically the strawberry salad, and the quiche was one of the best quiches I had ever eaten. The food tastes as homemade as it gets at a restaurant. The service is always so friendly and warm, there are tables outside and in the back, and a big parking lot across the street but I found street parking easily. Sunny Side Kitchen is a treasure!

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Totally loved the cozy, down-to-earth vibe here. I grabbed a breakfast panini and a latte, and both hit the spot wothout trying too hard. Sooo good!!

Yelp
Looking for good coffee? Check. Looking for delicious paninis with gluten free options. Check. Looking for super friendly people? Check. There's a reason that Sunny Side Kitchen is consistently one of the best restaurants - they never disappoint! I highly suggest giving the Tuscan chicken panini on sourdough a try. That with the orzo salad on the side and you'll have no regrets.

Yelp
This place made Yelp's best places list and in summation it's easy to see why: everything is simple but done well. We had two of their breakfast paninis. The works and the good day sunshine. The real star of both of these were the bread and the cheese they melted on top of it. Everything else alone was good but together it was done really well. This isn't a fancy place. It's your go-to for a tasty breakfast sandwich and a coffee. It's where you stop by with a coworker during lunch. It's where you swing by to grab your mom some food on your way to visit (and when you walk in everyone recognizes you and tells you to tell her 'hi'). This is a local joint - and for the record we aren't from around here we just stopped on our way during our travels. But the entire time the service was friendly and fast and everyone said hello to the locals. All in all solid. Wish there were more places like this. Ps we went during the middle of the day so there wasn't a big wait but there are 5 tables inside and probably three outside so I can foresee it getting busy during weekends. Plenty of street parking and a lot across the way.

Yelp
Food: I was so pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon this place. I had seen online that it had one of the best breakfast sandwiches in San Diego which is "The Works". It was super good and would eat again but honestly, the Chicken Bacon Ranch Panini was even better to me. I think it's worth ordering The Works, but don't be afraid that you might be missing out on something life changing if you don't! Service: The workers are SO nice here! The gentleman who rung us up was super nice and I got small community vibes eating here. They offer military discount too! We had to wait around 15 minutes for our food, but it was no problem since they don't have the most workers. Ambience: This little spot is definitely meant for a meal and is a great place to spend time with friends and family. It doesn't look like the best place if you want to study or remote work. It's tinier than I expected but feels homey at the same time. P.S. I got the Iced Vanilla Latte and it was super yum and one of the best ones I've had so far in SD.

Yelp
What a unique and delightful place!!! Not to mention the employees are so kind and helpful. The food is so delicious and combines so many flavors. I've tried most of their sandwiches and have been pleasantly surprised each time! A must stop if you're in north county San Diego.

Yelp
Oh. My. God. Sunny Side Kitchen is definitely the right name for this place! The atmosphere in the kitchen is so happy and light and the food!! I had a wake up Escondido today and first off the bread is fresh baked sourdough with butter, Parmesan, and seasoning cooked into the bread *chefs kiss* with the blend of cheeses on the inside mixed with the chicken, egg, hot sauce, and pickles! Let me tell ya ima pickle girl, and they have the perfect crunch. All in all this place had my favorite panini I have ever had! The crew is great and bob and kate really put their heart into this kitchen! The coffee is also so fresh and just sweet enough, you can adjust it how you like, my husband got a black tea and it's brews to perfection. I've been coming here for a few years and will always come back, thanks for great food and great times Sunny Side :)

Yelp
Love this place. Great food, friendly people. It feels like the warmth of a family members kitchen. All the breakfast sandwiches are amazing. Tuna melt great too And the brownies..

Yelp
This is my first time dining here. My panini was delicious! I love supporting small, local businesses. What a gem in Escondido.

Yelp
Cozy restaurant! Friendly & quick service! They serve delicious breakfast & lunch sandwiches, salads, soups & desserts. You cannot go wrong with any dish here. I will definitely try out their Lunch Special which is 1/2 Grilled Cheese & a cup of soup or salad They also have seating outside.

Yelp
This place has Great reviews and is on the top 100 Yelp for a reason. Fantastic food- plenty of choices on the menu. Sandwiches, quiche, brownies, mocha, lemonade, etc. Friendly and nice service. The cashier taking our order even sang a little when we ordered the good day sunshine sandwich. All The workers were smiling and happy and working as a team. Easy to find and located in Escondido off of Orange street. Some free street parking right out front. We ordered and waited a bit. When I noticed the people after us getting their orders and we hadn't yet, I checked and there was a little mix up. We got our food shortly afterwards. It was no big deal or delay at all. One of the workers checked on us and felt bad about the mix up, so she gave us a free brownie and a gift card for a future visit. That was super nice of her and just shows you how much they care about their customers and customer service.

Yelp
Visiting the area, but the staff and the food made me wish I was a local! I had the sourdough toast and jam, the green chili and pepper jack quiche, and a huge helping of friendly service. This place is a gem! The toast was crunchy and good, however, the quiche was excellent! Good food and drink selection and a steady stream of customers, all greeted by name. I'll have to drop back in tomorrow and see if the wait staff have my name down. I'm betting they will! The sit down area is small and homey, but you would want a larger group to eat outside. If you like that home cooked friendly vibe, sign up now! They also do lunch!

Yelp
Came in a few times with my mom to this place. We usually wake up early and go to the gym so food is usually the next thing on our mind. Whenever we have come here we want to come again. The service is great, the people working here are so nice and know me and my mom by name. I suggest the works breakfast sandwich, one of the best things i have ever had the chance to eat in my life. I highly suggest coming to this local breakfast spot!

Yelp
Finally had time to come here for lunch on a weekend, cute little spot. Plenty of street parking, we got lucky right in front of the cafe with parking. I had the vegan panini with an Arnold Palmer, delicious and different. The staff is as genuine as you can get, you can tell everyone works well together and are happy to be there. Will be back, adding to our regular lunch spots.

Yelp
This is a cool little sandwich shop. It's a tiny location and was pretty busy. My sandwich was good but it wasn't too filling to be honest.
google avatar

Gabe J.

Yelp
I love sandwiches but not ANY sandwich, I crave a GREAT PANNINI sandwich, so hard to find, except for here!! Highly recommend their breakfast sandwiches too!
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
I always love going here. I got the Escondido 999 I believe it was called. I'm not a spam eater, so I just got it with the egg, cheese and avocado, which was really tasty. They give a small cut of fresh fruit with it as well. I got a side salad which was tasty, but a bit small. Also, if you check in, you get a free drink. I highly recommend their freshly squeezed Arnold Palmer. It's a cute shop with some seating inside and out. And it's a mom and pop please, so feel free to say hello to the wonderful owners.
google avatar

Yelp
I should have gotten a panini! This is my second time here, the first time I got a panini and lemonade, both amazing. This time I got the Tuscan chicken salad and it's wasn't great. The salad was so small for $18 and the chicken was dry and chewy, I couldn't eat it. However, I also got a latte which was delicious. I will probably come back to try something else and skip the salad.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! We popped in here on a Saturday around 8 am and there were only three other customers, so no waiting for the table. We tried "the works" per the staff recommendation, and were so impressed. We also had a pastry and a couple of lattes. Everything was divine. The staff were all incredible. They were so friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Was super excited to finally try this spot and was NOT disappointed!! After looking through some reviews I decided to order the full good day sunshine panini which seems to be new and add pesto! It comes with a small cup of fruit as well! The service was super kind even though it was busy and there was moderate amount of seating, inside, out front, as well as a few tables they have in the back parking lot area Overall it's a super solid spot and will be added to my favorites for sure!!

Yelp
Found this cute little place in Escondido. Yelp reviews were outstanding. We were greeted upon entering. The staff made us feel comfortable and welcome kinda like entering a home. We ordered the *The Works Sandwich- Egg, cheese, bacon, and avocado on sourdough *Quiche - Broccoli Chedder, housemade, crustless quiche made with gluten-free ingredients. The food was served with assorted fruit in a cup. Food was delicious, simple and again, I felt like I was a valued guest at someone's home. The staff was kind, friendly and I appreciate it. Kudos to all.

Yelp
Loved this quaint little spot! Came here on a Monday with my honey and we loved how chill it was. Plenty of parking in the back and you can enter through the back, you'll just walk through the kitchen to the front. I got myself some fresh squeezed oj and the house fave and I loved it so much I didn't get a chance to take a photo we will be back when we're in the area for sure!

Yelp
One of the best breakfast sammiches I've had! This place is super cute and tucked away in a plaza. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly and food comes out pretty quickly. I ordered an iced chai latte and I'm picky about my chai! This chai latte was pleasant! I think it could use a bit more chai spices/mix but what I loved was that it wasn't overly sweet! I ordered a half of the works breakfast panini and I honestly wish I ordered a whole (crying face). The sandwich had everything I was looking for! Crispy bacon, melty cheese, perfectly fluffy egg, and a solid amount of freshly smashed avocado. One of the BEST things about the sammich was the perfectly toasted/crispy seasoned cheese on the outside (heart eyes)! I always need to have hot sauce with all my meals so I asked for a side of theirs and it paired really well with my sandwich! I think they use Hoff hot sauce? Will definitely be back and will spread the word about how awesome this place is! I need to try their lunch sandwiches and soups!

Yelp
Farm to table flavors never tasted any better. Service is great and the interior makes you feel like you're in a very homey place.
google avatar

Angel D.

Yelp
Flavorful sandwiches in a casual atmosphere with the bulk of the seating outdoors at small patio tables. Because the indoor space is limited, it was very convenient that patrons have the option to order from the tables outside. I wouldn't recommend this for a large gathering but I did see a gal walk out with two large bags of food so ordering for carry out would be the way to go. Daily soup choices rotate and are listed on their website. I think the price point is a little bit high, even with the high-quality ingredients in comparison to other similar establishments within walking distance. I settled on the first sandwich option, half of a Tuscan chicken sandwich which was well prepared and arrived hot and crispy. It was tasty! A small side salad in a container that would fit a cup of soup with six dollars. And it didn't have anything special in it. The table next to us picked up a small container of small cookies which looked delicious but they didn't offer me any so can't tell you how they were, but I do think that those two guys polished them off! The little side container of orzo was under seasoned, and I would suggest that they use dill pickle spears, like Clausen, instead of the rubbery fluorescent ones that they currently serve.

Yelp
Cute place with great staff. Looking more for a traditional menu but my breakfast panini was good anyway
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Paninis and quiche are my go tos. They are delicious, but prices have really gone up, which is disappointing. I think they should skip the small fruit side and bring the prices down a smidge.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast on our way to the beach. Ordered the 808 (egg, cheese, Avocado, hot sauce and spam) The works (egg, bacon, 3 cheeses and avacado. Both come on sourdough bread halves so they are a decent size. They came with a side of fruit. Also ordered the orange juice which was very good. Checked in and got a 20oz lemonade which was freshly made. Everything was very delicious, everything was freshly made. The inside is quaint and cozy, the staff was very friendly soon as you walk in. There is seating inside and outside. Highly recommend the lovely place, good people and great food!

Yelp
Came here inspired by yelps top 100 this year and went for both recommended order: toscana chicken and meatloaf. The meatloaf was good, the toscana chicken was a bit boring. What we've found the best was the pesto! So next time I'll order pesto and meatloaf and definitely eat there instead of take away as it will missed its crunchiness. I normally would give this a solid 4-5 star rating but given the size and price I personally found it overpriced.

Yelp
AWESOME BREAKFAST! I had their California Club with a Vanilla Italian Soda. That club was amazing! It had a large portion of avocado, large slices of egg, bits of chicken and bacon... I really want to go back for Lunch. This was my first time having an Italian Soda. I got vanilla and it tasted just like a milkshake... I really liked it! Service is great. It's a very small place, so I got a really warm welcome when I walked in. I could tell this place has a bit of following in the neighborhood, as a few of the patrons were greeted by name. If I lived in this neighborhood, I'd be here a lot! I would describe the ambiance as warm... lots of yellows, orange and red in their art, good music playing, and quiet conversations being had. It's also very small, but a warm kind of small (if that's a thing lol). Five Stars for the Food!
google avatar

Sarah V.

Yelp
I love this little place. The owners are fantastic and the food is incredible. There is not a lot of seating but they also have some tables outside for overflow. The decor inside just brings so much joy. My favorite menu item is the meatball panini, which they serve a half order and it's more than enough food with the pickle and little pasta salad. We live in Carlsbad and I'll plan my errands in Escondido around lunch time so I can stop here. It's that good. They are always busy so call in your order to make it a little faster.

Yelp
Wow, this review is overdue? I have been coming here for years and it's still so good!. While this is not your "typical" breakfast place as you wont find a fare of eggs, pancakes etc., it is perfect in what it is. It's a breakfast sandwich place, or at least that is what it is to me, and I love it for that. They do have quiche, salads and during the week I hear that have soup (maybe this is a myth!), but the sandwich here is what tickles my tastebuds. The sandwiches range from "The Works" which has Egg, cheese, bacon and avocado, "Wake up Escondido!" hand shredded chicken, baked egg, dill pickles and quite a few other variations of egg, bacon, avocado. Then they move to a more "lunch typical" sandwich menu such as a "Tuscan Chicken" with shredded, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, Havarti, muenster and Parmesan, Tuna Melt, and my favorite on menu, the meatloaf panini. My favorite overall is the 808, which is spam however this is seasonal it seems. This is a small place, with 4 or 5 small tables inside, 4 or 5 out front and another 4 or so picnic tables out back. Everyone here is friendly and welcoming. if you have not been, I highly recommend giving it a go!

Yelp
We finally went! We pulled into the parking lot in the back of Sunny's and grabbed the last spot on a Thursday morning. Walking around the building to find the front, we stood in a long line of Pickleball women grabbing their pre-ordered brunch food. My daughter and I didn't mind a long line because we were not in a rush and were on a mother/daughter date. As recommended, we both ordered The Works Panini with a side of fruit. It was served hot and yummy! The watermelon lemonade and strawberry lemonade gave us a big smile on a summer's day. The place kind of felt like I had just landed in the Midwest, and went to a café. The only thing that didn't feel like the Midwest, were the prices. With the quality of the lemonades, Paninis and the super nice people working there, I do believe this place deserves five stars.
google avatar

Yelp
Surprisingly great little place. I was expecting decent cafe sandwiches and was wrong! Super tasty, unique flavor. Sizes are little on the small size if you are used to giant american sandwiches but totally fine. Very friendly staff. Ambiance is small but just right - would totally come back all the time if I lived near by.

Yelp
First thing I experienced here is the nicest service. I paid and ordered my food and then asked for lemon hot water. And they served two right away. Great service. They also asked to cut our half sandwich in half as we were sharing. Food is great too!!!

Judy W.

Yelp
Food; excellent Service; outstanding Ambiance; just a small place, not fancy but cute. Seems like a place where locals frequent which is what we like. More restaurants could take a lesson from this establishment.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a gem. Home style cooking at its best. The no crust quiche was phenomenal...baked to perfection. Meatloaf sandwich was unreal too. Great little cafe with a nice chef like touch.

Yelp
After seeing Sunny Side Kitchen in YouTube, we wanted to try it. We were not disappointed. We had The Works Panini and we loved it. It has egg, cheese, bacon, and avocado. The bread was perfectly toasted. We also had Quiche with Artichoke hearts. Delicious. The owner and staff are so warm and friendly. The place is cozy. We can tell that their customers are regular customers. We will be back.

Teresa C.

Yelp
Went in for a post workout high protein meal and was quite disappointed. The pictures panini they on the wall looked thick and juicy so I figured I can't go wrong with that. The panini I order looked nothing like it. I got a few pieces of shredded chewy flavorless boiled chicken For a $20 panini at least grill the chicken and put some seasoning in it. What a rip off. I'll never again give this business my money.
google avatar

Kendyl T.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! We came here with my family for a good breakfast and it did not disappoint. The staff was awesome, helpful and very friendly. The restaurant is small, but cozy and left room for some good conversation. There's additional seating outside though for larger parties. Definitely would come back again if we are in town!

Yelp
This place was Amazing! I went with my brother on a whim. So glad we did! We went on a Wednesday afternoon to avoid it being overly busy! Got two amazing sandwiches. They even panini cook them with parmigiana (drool) so content I will have to return at some point!
google avatar

Annie S.

Yelp
Very cute and delicious sourdough panini/ salad/ quiche shop. We had lunch there, everything is prepared fresh so we had to wait about 8-10 minutes, which was fine. The home made strawberry lemonade was really good too. Very kind and attentive team. Place kept pretty busy though there was always a place to sit and eat. We went with children and they loved the sourdough panini and lemonade

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE Sunny Side. This is one of my favorite places to dine in all of the SD area. You just can't find a place quite like it! From the quaint atmosphere, the welcoming owners and employees and the most delicious food that you can watch being prepared with care! Everyone in there is friendly, helpful and always working to make your experience the most pleasant and enjoyable! My favorite things are the quiches, the pastries and the coffee! And of course, the award winning sandwiches are absolutely scrumptious. Im quite sure everything they offer tastes amazing!! Thank you Sunny side for creating such a lovely place and for the mexican hot chocolate cookie I tried for the first time today! That little thing quickly made It to the top of my list as the best cookie I have ever had!
