Sunny's Chicken Greenwood

I was looking for fried chicken close to where I work, I was not disappointed. Two 2-pieces with 2 sides for $15.99. The chicken portions were crispy and huge. The green beans and coleslaw were great! I'll be back!

I got the tenderloin. Breading wasn't cooked all the way. It was soggy, and flavorless..except for the salt and only what i can assume is dirty cooking oil. My bun was pressed very firmly onto the tenderloin...squished. The Mac n cheese was terrible. Way too well done...or old. Absolutely no flavor except there was this flavor that tasted like used noodle water. It's been about 2 years since I have been here. the food was Fantastic then. :/

Chicken tenders and popcorn chicken are excellent quality and taste. Prices are great too. Asked for extra honey butter on the biscuits, got plenty. Was disappointed to see they didn't have red beans and rice anymore. That is the best side dish with chicken and biscuits. I go to Popeye's just for the red beans and rice and their chicken isn't near as good as Sunny's. I'd come here more if they had it. The fish is good too. The lady who took the order was very sweet. I kind of like that they're a little hole in the wall, not real busy place. You can get in, get your food and get out quietly and quickly without dealing with a lot of people and traffic. The food is cooked so fresh it was plenty hot still at home.

I ordered lunch and I've had this chicken for almost an hour now, it is still piping hot and so fresh. I devoured the fried mushrooms before I could take a picture of them. This is the BEST fried chicken I've had since my grandmother passed when I was 10. This will definitely be my new go to place, the prices are amazing, the portions are incredible, and the food?? Baby you have to try it for yourself!

Food is always really good. It's fresh and find batter on the chicken to have a good texture and taste. They also have veggies on their menus, which is something you don't always see at a fried food place, which is nice.

I ordered 2 legs, 2 fish and a small mashed potato. The potato had gravy, the fish isn't cooked. I called and the lady was like we cooked 9 min. I said but did you check the temp? She said 9 min. It's not done. Literally not done. I spent $25 and I'm not sure how if 2 legs is 3$ uncooked fish $12. That small side of potatoes n gross gravy cannot be $10?

I literally was one of the first few customers when this place opened many many years ago, They are best known for the very juicy and perfectly cooked chicken,, I do not eat at any other chicken place as of yet, this is the best on the Southside of Indianapolis.They have the best chicken.

Fantastic food! The chicken fell off the bone and was seasoned to perfection. Everyone in my family ordered something different. ALL of the food was amazing.

Fried chicken, fried mushrooms and chicken livers were all good! Mashed potatoes were mehh. And not very big for a "large" pretty pricey but everything is now. The biscuits were not great. They looked good with the honey but we're pretty dry. The store also looked sketchy and was hot inside. But our order was correct and the service was good and friendly. Since there's limited fried chicken places around here we will probably be back

New owners! Hopefully they bought the rights to the recipe. It did taste the same. Hopefully they keep it an American flavor icon in Greenwood, IN.

The fried chicken was well above average and I really enjoyed the chicken livers. Not a destination spot but well worth stopping to grab a bite!

A friendly, busy lady working the front! The chicken was good. Cooked to order. Ordering online was easy & complete. They fulfilled the order correctly. It is really a pick up place. There's only 1 small round table. That was OK for our desire to eat at home tonight. We will order again when we want fried chicken. My husband LOVED the gizzards & liver.

Amazing fried chicken & mushrooms!! Crispy, crunchy, flavorful, just enough seasoning, juicy!!! Mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, biscuits - huge bummer!! YUCK!!! Biscuits were hard. Potatoes not seasoned and tasted fake and dry - same with Mac and cheese. Also, we ordered extra biscuits and didn't get them. Next time we go here it will be for the chicken and mushrooms and make our own sides.

The best fried chicken you will find in central Indiana. They have a cooking oil system that is massive and I never taste a bit of the bitter rancidity many places have. The cost is worth it even though it it exceeds Kensucky Lied Charken's prices. Unlike others they have chicken gizzards and livers in addition to excellent fried chicken. This is my go to for chicken. I even made a song. Sunny's CHICKEN! Chickeny neatness chickeny feet! Chickeny neatness tasty treat! SUNNY'S CHICKEeeeN! This chicken spot is a good eats place. We arrived about 10mins before closing and the chicken was still decent...so imagine if was fresh and right off out of the hopper it would be !!! The sunny secret sauce is a hot sauce infused ranch - great for dipping the tenders or fries but if you are a condiment or saucy person get two because one will NOT be enough. The CHICKEN - the tenders and chicken had a good crispy Flavorful breading. The chicken was good. Bigger pieces as well. The fries - were fries Everyone was super nice.

Chicken is usually pretty consistent and much better than other chicken options in the area. We typically get an order of chicken tenders to share between several of us. On more than one occasion we have tried various sides and haven't really liked any of them too much. Store is located in a small strip mall just of US31 and is fairly easy to get into. Each time I go I order ahead and the food is typically ready within the timeframe quoted when ordering. There is a small convenience fee for ordering online that I didn't notice when ordering in person, which is a bit aggravating. No clue why it is any harder to take a credit card number online than it is to take in person? I really wish they had better sides. What we have been doing recently is getting mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese from the grocery store (refrigerated sides from a popular chain that has a country theme but not a country store). These sides combined with Sunny's chicken has been a good combo for us. Just is such a hassle. Was generous and rounded up because this is not a chain restaurant. Usually the food is pretty consistent but there have been a rare occasion where the chicken just wasn't as good as usual. Will continue to get chicken to go from here, and love supporting local business.

Can you say Grandma's FRIED CHICKEN !!! Nice staff, quick service and fabulous food. Chicken, chicken livers, biscuits and fries.... I have tried it all. Not a place to go for f you are counting calories but if you are counting on a good meal, go to Sunny's.

Sunny's is located in little strip mall and has an ample private parking lot. It kind of has a gas station chicken type of feel. They have a wide assortment of fried foods like chicken gizzards, chicken livers, fish, tenderloins, and of course fried chicken. The restaurant is relatively clean and all the tables are put away. They do not have dine in. They only have carry out. You can make your order, either on line, in the restaurant or over the phone. I placed my carry out order in person. I got the 3 piece mixed fried chicken with a side of fries and chicken gizzards. I had to wait about 8 minutes for my food, then I was off. It was a nice day so I decided to detour to one of the nearby Greenwood parks and enjoy my meal. The fries were ok. My chicken was pretty good too, but it was not as good as it looked. It was very battery and crunchy, which I like. Gizzards are an acquired taste. Sunny's has some pretty good ones. They were delicious. And don't forget the hot sauce. Please keep in mind that this place is not open on Mondays and does not look like much from the outside, but has a lot of fried goodness inside. I recommend this spot if you are looking for some good comfort food or a good cheat meal.

I give it 4 1/2 stars , the chicken was spot on some of the best I have had. It's a bit on the pricey side but it's that good. Don't plan on a sit down meal because it's very limited on seating . Get it and go you won't be disappointed!

I really liked their tenderloin & fish sandwiches! My wife thought their chicken was okay. I'll be back. If I could make a suggestion, if a costumer asks if they can try a small sample of a gizzard & liver, throw a small one of each in the fryer with the food that customer ordered. I haven't had either in decades & didn't really want to pay for a full order of something I might still not like. Of course, if I had tried it & liked it, I would be buying them over & over.

Box Mac n cheese, instant potatoes, canned green beans, over priced. Chicken was subpar! Fried mushrooms were ok

Pretty good fried chicken, 2 thumbs down on the Mac and cheese. Nice to see a following for this spot. Crinkle cut fries are good when they are crispy, the other sides not sure about.

After a week of frigid temps, some good ole fried chicken was sounding delish!! Used my fried, Yelp, to search my local area and Sunny's was the first to pop up. Reviews were good so I placed a carry out order and Hubby went to pickup. We will definitely visit this place again!! Chicken had a flavorful crunchy breading and the chicken was juicy inside!! Red beans and rice was good as well but needed some heat. Mac n cheese was pretty good and cheesy. Get a side of Sunny's sauce too or three ;) it's yummy with some heat to it!

This is a pretty good place if you are looking for some fried chicken to go. Not much atmosphere in the limited dining space they have, but they have an easy to read menu of chicken items on display that helps you get individual amounts or larger family/party sizes. The chicken breading here is more salty and less peppery than that national brand. Not too salty, but it is definitely the strongest taste in the coating. The chicken was nice a crispy on the outside, but just a bit over cooked on the white meat. The biscuit was a little on the dry side too, but that may be due to the early afternoon timing of my visit. Pricing was very affordable and I was in and out so fast that I really didn't get much chance to look over what other items they have on their menu. Review #1913

Chicken was good , nice crunchy crust and nicely seasoned, biscuits are good , coleslaw was a little to mayonaise filled and to sweet for me but that's personal, seasoned fries taste good but ended up being very soggy due to take out. Overall we will get the chicken again, go try it

Oh my goodness! This is the best place for fried chicken. My husband and I both ordered 6 tender meals. We shared one and had the other the next day. The chicken is so tender and juicy and the breading is light and crispy. Portions are way awesome, service was fabulous and friendly, and they check back in with you via text to make sure it was to your liking. An actual person is texting with you and responding. Love this place, please give it a whirl so you can too! Sorry no pics...too hungry to pause for the perfect pic.

Grabbed take out for my Mom and I. We had chicken strips and fried livers, both were very good. Not much area to sit down, so grab it on the way home!

I enjoyed Sunny's, the workers and cook were very nice and personable. I had the fried liver and gizzards and they were GRRRRRREAT! ( in my Tony The Tiger voice).

i haven't lived in greenwood very long and used to travel far for chicken but i gave sunny's a try tonight & it was hands down some of the best chicken i've had! the fries were amazing! the staff was all super pleasant.

I don't typically like chicken livers tried them there and they were very very good, the chicken is always very fresh and full of taste I will go back every time in the area.

I went to this location when it was called Crispy Crunchy Chicken. It has since changed ownership and has been renamed Sunny's. It was OK back then, just as it is now. When one uses the definition or description of a 'hole in the wall' restaurant, this place has it's picture next to it in the dictionary. There is absolutely zero atmosphere, and there is really no place to sit in peace and eat. The place looks tidy and clean enough, so I was OK with the complete reality of that part of the situation. It's just best to pick up your food and get the heck out of there. The chicken tasted above acceptable. It was very crispy, and also tasted very juicy and *moist* (*yes, I dare to use that unappreciated and despised word - hehe), and it had a decent amount of seasoning. The mashed potatoes were surprisingly palatable as those type of potatoes go in places like Sunnys. The biscuits were decent too. The mac and cheese was very runny and could use a little work, and the breaded mushrooms were probably pre-frozen / prepackaged. I love onion rings and was a little bit curious about their's, but I have a feeling it's probably the same situation as the breaded mushrooms. They have many other sides to choose from, so I really can't accurately comment on any of those because I didn't try them. It could be more of the same,......or could it be a pleasant surprise ? All in all, I would consider going there again. Again, at the very least, I would pick up a load of just their fried chicken and take it home.

It is difficult to fry the perfect chicken breast. The outside has to be crispy and well-seasoned. The meat has to be juicy and tender. Combined, just right, it's an experience that you only find with someone who has been cooking it the same way for generations. I have to say that today I found the perfect chicken breast at Sunny's. It was our first visit. I got an 8 piece mixed box and the person I was with got chicken tenders. Every piece was exactly how you would expect great chicken to taste. Marvellous! If you're tired of The Colonel or that place that overfries their chicken to the point of Louisiana chicken jerky, give Sunny's a try. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I visited Sunny's solely based on Yelp ratings. We we actually heading to Popeyes in Greenwood area. I looked at the ratings on Yelp and they were terrible! Poor service, bad attitudes, incorrect orders, and the straw that broke the camels back - one post stated the place was filthy. We don't need filthy in the midst of the virus pandemic. I checked a couple other Popeye locations and ratings were just as poor. Basically small pieces of chicken, poor service, and long wait times. So, I checked KFC locations and more of the same. 2 star ratings were the norm. Sunny's has a yelp rating of 4.5 so we decided to give their carry out a try. Food was hot, delicious, and more than enough. They give you the whole chicken breast, not half, like their competitors. If you are an average eater the two piece mixed is more than enough. Don't order the large mash potatoes, the small one is enough. I also had the Okra side which was excellent. In summary, great food, large portions, friendly staff. They are a bit pricier than their competitors and it took about 40 minutes for them to fill our order (because it's cooked to order and not sitting under a heat lamp for hours on end), but as the old adage goes "you get what you pay for". First time Sunny's Customer. We will be back. Good job!'

First thing's first: The chicken was amazing. These ladies know how to fry some darn good bird! The customer experience however was less than savory. I called when we arrived and they hadn't started cooking the order at the time it was supposed to be ready. They were 45 minutes late with our pickup order and when I called a second time to ask about an estimated pickup time, the lady who answered was annoyed that I would ask her when my food would be ready. I could tell they were having a bad day but they were absolutely taking their bad day out on the customer. I want to give as much grace as possible because they were working hard but they never apologized for being late and made it seem like an imposition that I would ask for a time table for when our food was ready for pickup. I would absolutely recommend the chicken, just not the service.

Really good chicken- these folks know how to fry without having greasy food. Try the livers- spectacular!

The chicken tenders are large! We also got the mushrooms, okra, biscuits and French fries. It was all good, satisfied the fried chicken craving. But I don't recommend using the online ordering through GrubHub. I received a message that my order was ready and when we arrived we still had to wait 20 minutes.

Fish sandwich and gizzards. These people are just smart! Fish sandwich: Lettuce, tomato, pickles in a separate bag, SMART! Gizzards and fish sandwich in separate paper bags, SMART! These people really know how to serve awesome food! However, the mashed potatoes and gravy, I mean mashed potatoes are mashed potatoes. The gravy makes it. This gravy was a little odd tasting and just ... meh!

The food here taste like it's all cooked in the same grease. Got some mashed potatoes and gravy, the gravy was disgusting, two bites and threw the whole cup away. Do they believe in seasoning at this establishment? On a better note, food is always hot. If your looking for something to put on your stomach without flavor, then check them out. Chicken gizzards are pretty decent. I've had better chicken from the gas station. Use to be a Krispy Krunchy Chicken at this location and man, do I miss it....

From time to time I just need a break from cooking and I don't want to spend a ton of money taking my family of 5 out for dinner on Friday night. I'm also not much of a fast food girl. There are not many options in Greenwood for this, but Sunny's certainly fits the bill. Excellent fried chicken, the biscuits are so good and the typical sides to go along with fried chicken are on point. My favorite part of Sunny's is the staff. They are very friendly and welcoming. My only small complaint about Sunny's is I wished they had something for those who are trying to watch their weight, such as fresh salads or roasted chicken but I know it is just my wishful thinking. They are a fried chicken place right?

This place is comfort. The food is fantastic. The owner is a sweet and sunny lady. She has great stories and really makes you feel at home.

I was looking for Krispy Krunchy Chicken because of the great Yelp reviews. However, I learned that it changed ownership and thus the name of the restaurant. There is no public restroom. The eating area can accommodate several guests. I ordered the #2 - 2 dark pieces of chicken and a biscuit for $3.99. It was juicy but not as special as I thought it would be.

Perfect hike in the wall for greasy fried chicken and sides!. I thought about dinging them a star for taking their tempura corn on the cob of the menu, but their food and service is good enough that I just couldn't do it. Sunny, if you're listening PLEASE PLEASE bring the battered corn on the cob back!!! My wife is a vegetarian and this was tyke one chicken place that we could agree on and now I'm back to nothing!

Sunny's chicken is a small little food spot right on US 31 that you would probably drive by if you didn't know any better. The chicken tenders with the Sunny's sauce makes your mouth water it's soooo good! Not to mention the honey butter biscuit that comes along with it in the lunch order. This is my favorite quick bite spot on US 31.

Very disappointed, got a 15 dollar groupon for 8.00. First the place was blistering HOT inside. To much to even bare.. Second they no longer serve potato wedges.. Just fries...third the biscuit was so hard it wasn't even edible.. I feel sorry for the workers in there dealing with this air conditioning issues now for a long time . I will not return.. Zaxbys is right down the street
