In the before time long long ago I was a student at Miami-Dade Community College my college buddy who is Haitian introduced me to Haitian Codfish patties.
Being Jamaican I have a long-standing love affair with Jamaican Patties, but only if their made in Jamaica. So for me to veer left and love another is a huge statement.
Groups of us used to go to this small Haitian bakery off of 62 st, until one day they abruptly closed.
For years I searched the Voodoo corridors of Little Haiti and North Miami only to be disappointed with dry patties, buttery patties, and I even encountered some with so little filling I considered hiring a private investigator to find the codfish.
At some point I just gave up looking.
~Fast forward a few years later~
I never thought in my life I would find delicious Haitian patties in the middle of Broward county. I would have never believed that Sunrise Bakery a small unassuming bakery with no signage à la Haitian style had the love I had lost so long ago.
Light, flaky, and loaded with codfish, this is is the kind of stuff I live for.
Every time I'm in the area, I'll pop in and get a box of those tasty delights.
This is definitely the best Haitian Bakery I've found in south Florida in regards to Patty's.
Canary-virus~~
- as far as I can see they have normal hours and business practices minus people wearing masks.
