This Food-Filled Road Trip Celebrates West Virginia's Appalachian Culture | Bon Appétit
"A short trail whose panoramic viewpoint at the top provides a clear snapshot of urban Appalachia and is recommended as a refreshing walk after lunch." - ByCrystal Good, as told to Jen Choi
Absolutely delightful little trail. Historically significant, lots of tree and nut species, and a joy perched on the side of one of Charleston's hills.

What a gem to have right outside of downtown Charleston! I was traveling through the area and stopped to take a look at this trail. Beautifully done with landscaping, well cared for, very picturesque. Would highly recommend.

Nice little hike with pretty flowers. Not too difficult or long. My daughter and I both enjoyed it. There is a box there for books where you can leave or pick one out.
I wish there were bathroom facilities there but other than that no complaints. It was well kept and we had a good time. 😊

Very clean, easy, short trail. Parking is free and close to the trail entrance.

It's a beautiful trail. As long as you pace yourself properly it isn't too hard on you either. There are nice stone benches to rest at along the way up. There are also nice little spots off the trail to view the city from up high. The only cons are the mountain and some of the wall at the bottom of the trail have crumbled. Some of the monuments and such among the trail could be in better shape too.

Every town should have a Sunrise Carriage Trial. I like to pretend the trail ends at Walgreens. Worth the drive. Has a small gravel parking lot, but I like to start at the Amtrak Station.

Trail is very well kept, including off path trails. The hike is steep, but manageable. Stop by the entrance at the bottom for a pamphlet on history. No maps or distance markers.

Lovely walk in the woods up to the former Governors mansion. Beautiful vistas. Well used trail by walkers and runners.
