Yelp
Sunrose has been on my radar since I first saw signs of it coming to life years ago. I knew I wanted to try it, but somehow, time got away from me and tonight, I finally made it. I'm so glad I did. They actually just started to have a new fresh and elevated dinner experience as of November 5th.
This spot is more than just a restaurant as it's an elevated eatery that brings coastal California to the table with a modern, welcoming vibe. It's already been recognized as one of Yelp's Top Places to Eat in LA for 2025, ranking #77.
The heart behind Sunrose is something you can feel the moment you walk in. Founders Marc and Carie Hernandez come from decades in the restaurant world and created this space to bring back what's been missing in a lot of dining experiences: real hospitality. It's not just about food; it's about connection, warmth, and slowing down to enjoy the moment.
Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor:
*THAI CHICKEN PASTA: Chicken breast, linguine, Thai peanut sauce, micro cilantro, carrots, peanuts, and bean sprouts. The sauce was almost like a peanut butter but created specifically for noodles. Think of a chicken satay, but pasta form.
*CALIFORNIA ROCKFISH COCONUT CURRY: Local wild California rockfish, yellow curry, tomato, and jasmine rice. Light but flavorful and the curry was not overpowering the freshness of the fish. Also, the fish was flaky and moist.
*MISO BLACK COD: Buttery miso glaze, seasoned bok choy, and crispy rice. This was one of the standouts as it was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Whenever this is on a menu, I have to order it as it had become my obsession.
*BREAD PUDDING: Banana, whiskey caramel, sultanas, brioche, and whipped Chantilly cream. Absolutely decadent!
All of the dishes are very shareable, so order a few different things and taste a little here and there.
The setting is casual but stylish, perfect for date night, catching up with friends, or treating yourself to something a little more special.
Bonus: parking is super easy since it's attached to the Whizin Center with plenty of large lots.
If you're in or near the Agoura area and looking for a meal, I can't recommend Sunrose enough. I already can't wait to go back.
