Where To Eat & Drink In Fredericksburg - Austin - The Infatuation

"Whether you’re craving hangover food after a long night out or wanting something light before the road trip home, Sunset Grill is the spot to get your brunch fill. They deliver the full morning experience treasured by locals and tourists alike, with coffee, cocktails, breakfast classics like pancakes and sausage and eggs, and dantier lunch-style fare. That might include a bit of a wait and a busy waitstaff, but it’s well worth it for a stuffed three-egg omelette and a seasoned bloody mary. For those who dare deprive themselves of the pleasure that is having breakfast for lunch, Sunset Grill also offers salads, sandwiches, and burgers, so there’s something savory for everyone." - samantha grasso

We sat inside which was definitely the right choice! The food was phenomenal and the service was fast. I wish we could shout our servers name but she was moving so fast I couldn’t see it. She checked in on us several times and did a great job. I don’t typically choose sweet options but the banana french toast was spectacular. It had this caramel sauce that wasn’t overly nauseating sweet but had almost a saltiness to it. It was delicious the bananas were cooked or something so they melted into the bread and it was great. Would definitely recommend trying it. We also had the big A sandwich - also phenomenal. The bacon could’ve been more cooked but overall I’d still give it a 10/10. The flavors and how it was cooked just melted together really well. The potato’s were yummy and salted and the bun was so delicious. We also got a side biscuit and gravy. Biscuit was a 10/10. The gravy needed something more but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I’d give it a 6/10. Overall really enjoyed our experience here! Okay so we loved our meal so much we came again today. The food was still delicious but our waitress unfortunately was not near as good as the first. She came to check up on us once but walked away before we could answer and was overall dismissive and a bit rude. I think her name was Paulette. I hope it was just a fluke but definitely dampened the experience and if we came back I would not want to be seated in her section. 🫤

We came in for brunch with our little one and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious, and both the coffee and Bloody Mary were outstanding. Kally was our server and she was absolutely wonderful so kind, attentive, and welcoming. Truly top-tier service. We couldn’t have asked for a better brunch experience and will definitely be back!

Google
I order the buckhorn burger and it was delicious! A bit on the messy side, but the best burgers usually are. It was very busy so sat at the bar because it was available but refills were a little slow but for as busy as they were its understandable. I definitely recommend this place, burgers and breakfast served all day!

Charlotte K.

Google
The food comes out quickly, the servers are friendly and upbeat, and the food tastes great. Prices are reasonable, not overly expensive. I would definitely come back.

Google
The coffee was good. The pancakes and sourdough toast were my favorite. The service was friendly and the wait wasn't too long. I would love to come back when I'm in the area again.

Google
I had caramelized banana french toast(14) with coffee($3.50) and my husband had chicken fried steak and eggs($18). Both were good, especially his. Service was fast and friendly, even though inside tables were full (and this was on a Friday morning). Patio had heaters, so it wasn’t too cold sitting outside.

Google
This place is good (but read the last part): - It's east of the center of town and parking is more available than the places on Main Street. - Outdoor eating area is nice, and they allow dogs. - Prices are around $15-$20, which is reasonable for Fredericksburg breakfast, sandwiches and salads. - Fresh, quality ingredients, and delicious food. BUT... - The service was far too slow, and we had to ask for everything (straws, spoons for coffee, clearing dishes, the bill, etc.) and wait and wait. - The flies outside are awful. They're aggressive about getting to the food on the table, and they're aren't many fans outside to blast them away. They either need traps or significantly more fans in the outdoors eating area. Give it a try, but make sure you're under or in front of a fan of you eat outside. And expect to have to manage your server aggressively. But the food is delicious, so I hope they can solve the service and fly issues.

Google
A little busy, parking a challenge, but only about 30 minute wait. Beautiful day for patio. Once ordered foid came really quick. Wonderful and now that we know routine even easier. They have a VIP registry for this and other restaurants (Hayden) but staff didn't know anything about . . . Place is also looking like it’s expanding, even more patio seating, parking iwill be even more of a problem with 3 restaurants in the same half of a block.

Yelp
Had an absolutely heavenly breakfast here last weekend. There was a 30 minute wait for a table, but we were able to snag a couple of seats at the bar, so we did not have to wait at all. The ambiance was lively, but boisterous. I had the eggs and ham steak, with a biscuit. The ham was okay, but not what I expected. The eggs were perfectly scrambled, and the biscuit was like a piece of heaven. My husband had the eggs and bacon, with a side of biscuits and gravy. I tried the gravy and loved it. Samantha was very attentive and kept our coffee cups full. She was great. Next time we are in Fredericksburg, we are definitely stopping by to try their benedicts!

Yelp
Come with time to spare because this place is always packed - and that should tell you everything! We initially asked about the wait time and were told 45 minutes. We were starving and considered going somewhere else, but decided to give it a try. We ended up waiting a bit longer than expected, but it was absolutely worth it! The food was delicious - we ordered burgers and they were amazing. Despite how busy and chaotic it was with the crowd, our server was super attentive and friendly throughout our meal. I love that the food was on point and fresh, and the staff remained so pleasant even during the rush. Definitely recommend, just plan ahead for the wait or avoid weekends!

Yelp
Kailey our waitress was phenomenal such amazing energy. So welcoming and personable. We stopped in town and had to try this place for brunch. I ordered the Bourbon street Benedict 9/10 enjoyed the Louisiana flavors and it had a decent amount of shrimp. Wish there was more hollandaise sauce Friends ordered: Banana pecan pancakes 8.5/10 pancakes were soft but wish they were more fluffy French toast 6/10 it was just French toast nothing special about it Avocado toast 10/10 it was fresh and light and nice balance of ingredients. Drinks: Mangorita so refreshing and nice balance of sweetness The sunset was underwhelming! Strong champagne if youre a champagne person yet the blueberry and pomegranate didnt really shine. I thought by the name it would be a pretty drink. This is a cute place that offers farm to table. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating options with friendly welcoming staff and a good variety of food options. A must try for this quaint town

Yelp
I think this is our third or fourth time here. We love this place. Delicious food! I always order breakfast here. I did get a side salad this time, yes I know it sounds strange and doesn't go with breakfast, but I'm trying to add more vegetables to my diet. I'm so glad I did get it, though, the dressing was amazing, it was drinkable lol. Highly recommend this place. I know they own two other restaurants and I'm hoping one day we'll have time to try them as well. Be mindful of the hours, I think they close early and some days they are closed.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was so tasty! They have a parking lot so easy parking. We were seated quickly. Loved that they have a carafe of water on each table so you don't run out. My eggs were cooked just as requested :)

Yelp
Wanted to check this place out seeing as it's the #1 reviewed Fredericksburg restaurant. We came in on a Sunday around 10am and it was slammed. We waited around 30 minutes to be seated. We ordered a coffee, pancakes with a side of bacon, and the biscuit and gravy with included potatoes and 2 eggs. I didn't realize they have a whole bar area to do specialty coffee drinks and they didn't really advertise it with a menu or anything. The pancakes were good and really sweet, bacon was good but was $4.50 for 3 slices as an add on. The biscuit was a little dry and needed more gravy. But the flavor was good. Overall a pretty solid breakfast spot, but we thought what we ordered was a little pricy.
google avatar

Erika R.

Yelp
The place seemed pretty busy when we arrived however the wait was only about 20 min. The food was ok, not as expected. The bananas in the French toast were over ripe and I didn't eat them. The yogurt and granola was the exception, very fresh. The coffee was not the best either. Coming into the location it seemed very lively and trendy, however inside we seemed rushed and like we were in a basic diner.

Avery Y.

Yelp
Food: yummy! Have to get biscuits and gravy!! Coffee was delicious, I got 2. Service: wait time can be long (told us 1 hour for two people and we sat in 30 mins). Server was great and on top of it. Ambiance: crowded/hectic inside, would suggest to sit outside if it's a nice day.

Yelp
Sunset Grill came highly recommend for breakfast/brunch! We had the eggs benedict and the french toast! The mix of sweet and savory was the perfect combination to start our day before visiting the winery. The servers were super friendly and efficient! They turned over tables quickly to make wait times minimal to nonexistent. The restaurant is comfortable but small! There is plenty of patio seating as well but the TX heat can make it hard to sit outside after 10 AM.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite meals in Fredericksburg! We were visiting for a fun Girls Weekend getaway and after a night out on Main Street, the food doesn't get better than Sunset Grill to nourish your tummies for another day of winery hopping. We ordered the zucchini fries, which was cut into large spears. Not what we expected, but in the best way and the chipotle ranch was drinkable. Everything looked so delicious that we decided to go family style and split a few items. We ordered their omlette of the day, which was the Neptune. It was such a unique omelette with crab, spinach, bell peppers and I don't remember what else besides deliciousness. We shared an amazing breakfast sandwich that I don't remember the name, but the bread was a biscuit and their was a delicious fig jam involved. And finally, we got a side of biscuits and gravy. I also found my new drink here, the Mexican coffee. My friends got the bloody mary and The Maui (mimosa with guava and mango). The drinks here are great and very strong. The service is the only part of this experience that was okay. It is a very popular breakfast location and we showed up at prime brunch time (11:00 AM) on a Sunday morning. We waited roughtly 45 minutes for our table of 3, where they told us we could get a drink at the bar. But the way the restaurant is layed out, getting a drink took 30 minutes, so we were pretty much seated right after we got our drinks. There was a lot of confusion with staff telling us to go to various locations to order drinks before we finally were instructed to a long line by the bathroom, which was confusing because half the line was for the bar and the other half was for the restroom. If they could add maybe someone by the hostess or figure how to set up an outdoor bar, I think that would alleviate a lot of the congestion inside and confusion. Nonetheless, this is a must go if you're in Fredericksburg.

Yelp
Food was amazing and great service. We had the option to sit inside or outside and chose to sit outside because the weather was beautiful. They had a nice covered patio as well as uncovered seating - so many options for seating.

Yelp
My sister in law was visiting and we went on an adventure in Fredericksburg,TX. We built and appetite on the drive there and this was a highly rated restaurant so, we decided to give it a try. There was a wait which was a good sign! Crowded on a weekday! Must be good! We were seated and our server was very nice and gave us some recommendations. We both ordered coffee to drink, I ordered the Josephine sandwich and my sister in law ordered the "big ass sandwich" that it was! We shared a bite of each sandwich and both were soooo so good! Highly recommend both! Very bold and unique flavors that hit the spot! The restaurant itself is very aesthetically pleasing. Very earthy and vibrant! I loved that we were sitting next to a Lahaina artwork. Ironic that my husband is from Maui. I took it as a sign we were meant to be here! I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Love this place! Lots of outside seating and plenty inside. The staff is always very kind and helpful. I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered! Ok, the fried zucchini could probably be cut thinner. As is, the zucchini just kinda makes the breading insignificant but this may be a new item; I don't recall seeing it last time. Seriously though, every other thing I've ever eaten here has been absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.

Yelp
March 16, 2025 review: We went there around 10:45am, wait time was 45mins for party of 2. We were seated in around 35 mins of so. This place have plenty of seating available both outside and inside. We're greeted by a server shortly after getting the table but not in the friendly way, we had to repeat every words 3 times and not in the friendly way, we felt like she was either in hurry or not interested. I tried to repeat my coffee order 3 times, eventually i let it go. Omelette was well cooked, we got whole wheat bread and house potatoes on the side. They were able to swap these for sweet potato fries for just extra one dollar. There was also a egg surcharge of $1 for two Omelette. Overall good experience but my experience wasn't great so reducing the rating but food was great quality.

Yelp
We were in town from the next town over and I will say the yelp reviews do not do this place justice. The line was about 10 to 15 minutes deep and for a good breakfast that's not a bad wait. When we were sat, we were given ample time to pick what we wanted from the menu because everything looked delicious. I ended up getting the blueberry pancakes breakfast and my wife got the crab omelette. We shared a side of hashbrowns as well. Everything was delicious. The blueberry pancakes were exceptional. The staff was great. They answered all of our questions and were very attentive throughout our stay. if you ever make a day trip up, I recommend going to this place. Prices were not bad for a tourist stop. Nice little Texas ambience as well.

Yelp
Finally got to visit their new place. So much more room and more parking. We sat outside on their covered patio. So nice and servers very nice. Had a great breakfast. The wife had the salmon sammi which she loved. I had bacon and eggs. very good. tried a grapefruit mimosa. Tasted mainly of champagne. looks like they will expand for more outside seating. Great!!!
google avatar

Kassandra C.

Yelp
Great food! Come hungry they are big portions. Great breakfast classics done well. Pretty busy/crowded but quick service.

Yelp
Holy Cow! This may be the best breakfast/comfort food ever and certainly in Fredericksburg. If you are a local or just visiting like us it is a must. Their outdoor patio was being expanded and looks like it will be great space, the dining room was super cute and bar area was setup perfect for some morning mimosas. The staff was super fun, and while we didn't try any boozy breakfast drinks they looked great. We tried one slice of banana French toast which was exceptional especially if you have a sweet tooth. I got the special breakfast sandwich and the homemade biscuit it came on melted in your mouth and I'm not sure what they put in their gravy but I think there is crack because it is super addicting. The Eggs Benedict with crab cakes were ok and maybe just an odd combination for our tastes buds. We can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Misty was our amazing server--she is so good! The food was outstanding, and the noise level was rather low for a Monday...I assume all the tourists were with either still asleep or had already left.

Yelp
While in Fredericksburg our group of 10 decided to stop for Mother's Day brunch and happy that we did. We had about a 40 minute wait so some drinks were in order. All reported that Bloody Mary and aperol spritz with quite tasty. The group of 10 all commented that all of their dishes were good and the service was very attentive. Very popular place so suggest you try them out.
google avatar

Madison B.

Yelp
The food & service were absolutely incredible. We sat outside and loved the environment and energy. The mimosa drinks & Bloody Mary's were fantastic. We all got different variations of omelets and everyone loved their dishes, nothing was left on the plates. The wait time was so quick we were super impressed. Definitely one of our favorites this weekend.
google avatar

Cydney F.

Yelp
YUMMY!!!!!! Nice cafe type of place with plenty of seating. The service was excellent and our waitress was constantly checking g on us and very accurate with everything. The only down side is that we were a party of 4 and they only provide one ticket in which we just evenly split (since the price of what we ordered was about the same) but just be aware of this. But a great place I definitely recommend giving it a try.
google avatar

Juncel A.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out for lunch while in town. Sunset Grill seems to be a popular brunch spot for locals and tourists alike, and after visiting I can understand why. So we came in right at lunch with our little infant. I was a bit nervous because the place seemed busy from the outside. When we walked in, the place was obviously packed inside, but luckily they were able to seat us in their front patio. Their front patio had a few tables, but they have more outside seating in their side patio. Service was very friendly and fast! All our food came very fast despite them being busy - we were impressed! I got the crab cake benedict as it was recommended by our server. Overall a super solid benedict. The benedicts were constructed well - the crab cakes were good, and the eggs were poached perfectly. I also got to try their pancake which was also delicious. Overall I recommend this place for breakfast/brunch/lunch when in town!

Yelp
First day of our anniversary trip we woke up to this wonderful breakfast place. Service was absolutely friendly, although some tables were close together we enjoyed sharing conversations with the lovely couple next to us. They gave us tips and pointers for what to do. The food was DELICIOUS. I'll send everyone here

Caroline R.

Yelp
We loved Sunset Grill! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. There was a wait when we arrived but it went by fast and our server was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Bridgette F.

Yelp
Nice food. Great ambience, and a nice cocktail menu! It took a long while to get a table, but we were able to get cocktails while we waited. I had the Sunset. I husband had the Bloody Mary, and my son had the screwdriver... all nice! Then we had brunch! So yum! I had the señorita omelette. My husband had the chicken fried steak, and my son had the Brunch Burger. All those were super yummy, but maybe needed a bit of salt and salsa!

Eddie Q.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot in Fredericksburg. Loved the big breakfast sandwich and awesome pancake.
google avatar

Brandon S.

Yelp
The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was everything I'd want. Plenty of Salmon and the egg yolk melted all over the bagel. Messy as it should be! Very good Bloody Mary, the Mimosa was too strong to even drink however. I would've liked to taste the orange juice but that's just my preference.
google avatar

Mayra I.

Yelp
Loved this place! Service was great! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was fresh and delicious. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service... Sat at the counter this time. We had the Country Bisquit & Sausage Gravy... and Huevos Rancheros (GF). Everything was great! The Christmas music was a nice touch.
google avatar

Jilldc ..

Yelp
Breakfast and coffee were delicious. I had the Eggs Benedict, and my husband had chicken fried steak with fried eggs. We both commented on the friendly staff and service. Plenty of setting inside and out.
google avatar

Marisa P.

Yelp
Really great breakfast spot with lots of options from omelets to Benny's to sandwiches. The wait was pretty long, but they had heaters set up to keep everyone cozy. Ordered the house made crab cake Benny and it was delicious. Definitely a great spot before shopping and walking around main street or pre gaming before the wineries.
google avatar

Sophia G.

Yelp
Food was so good!! Very filling Got an iced latte, 10/10 The service was great as well Got there at around 8:30 and got sat right away
google avatar

Ken S.

Yelp
The pancakes were excellent and the Bananas Foster French toast was amazing! Only complaint was that the food was not hot. Pancakes were barely warm and the French toast was almost cold. Not very crowded when we got there so apparently it sat for a bit. Service was good, but had to ask for a coffee refill. We sat out on the patio which is very nice as the weather was overcast with a nice breeze. All in all, I would try them again, but maybe sit inside where we can hopefully get our food when it was ready. I would advise that you get there early to beat the Sunday brunch crowd as it got very busy before we left.
google avatar

Semhar M.

Yelp
Sunset Grill is clearly a popular place to visit in Fredericksburg. The line we encountered when when coming in a bit earlier was a testament to that. Our server, Sam, was absolutely amazing. She remembered us from running into us at a spot the night before, and treated our two year old so kindly and patiently. Breakfast here was a dream. Cafe style but with cocktails and beautiful ambiance. We sat indoors because we chose first available after waiting about thirty minutes to be seated. It was worth it! I had a classic omelette and loved every bite. The breakfast potatoes were amazing. The rest of my family had bits of everything. The pancake stack is HUGE and so fluffy. There wasn't a single thing on the menu that I wouldn't order. Apparently they are due for an even larger building opening up soon! Excited for all their success!
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
Great breakfast, great service. Conveniently located right off Main Street. We stayed in Fredericksburg for a week and had breakfast here three times.

Ezequiel D.

Yelp
Honestly hands down the best brunch in Fredericksburg. Atmosphere and staff were amazing. Had questions and they were answered with truth and confidence. Came for brunch had the cali omelette and my girlfriend had the classic breakfast bacon and eggs. Food was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
We always like this place for the variety and quality of food. They offer breakfast and lunch from morning until mid afternoon, and the choices are solid for most everyone. The waitstaff does a great job at tending to their customers and they never seem to hesitate in checking in on you. The only issue we have found is IF you come closer to the afternoon, the attention to food quality starts to decline. Not sure if the chef(s) is/are ready to close up, or what. Today, we ordered a lot for our little family of 4- we love to eat and we love to try many dishes when we have the time. Almost everything was perfect, BUT when my blueberry pancakes were sat down, the smell of burned bread was immediate. Instead of starting there, I opted to begin with my omelette and leave the sweet stuff until the end UNFORTUNATELY- lifting the top pancake unveiled a nicely CHARRED ONE underneath. It was inedible, sadly, and the waitress even noticed BUT ALSO DID NOT OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE (2 pancakes costs you $10). Overall, it's still a great little place, but just wish the total experience was enjoyable.
google avatar

Jesse S.

Yelp
This breakfast spot is highly recommend by me. Theres plenty of parking around the restraint and we went on a Saturday morning. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, the the central Texas day was so nice there was a wait for outdoor seating, so we got sat inside right away. The waitress was great and service was fast. It's a simply decorated minimalist style interior. We had a California omelette and sausage and 2 egg plate. Both items are moderately portioned, but super fresh and tasty. We enjoyed the food along with a mimosa. They serve Coke products here as well and it's a quick eat so you can get out to Main St.
google avatar

Jeaux D.

Yelp
Riding the motorcycle through the Texas Hill Country with the wife, we Yelped some breakfast areas in the area. Sunset Grill received excellent reviews so we popped over. Arriving early on a Saturday morning the wait was about 30 minutes for a table for two. Inside and outside tables available. It was sunny and cool so either would have been perfect. Inside this time. Anytime there are crab cakes on the menu, the wife is ordering them. This crab cake was atop an English muffin with hollandaise sauce. I ordered the The Frisco - Grilled tomatoes, red onions, sliced avocado, sauted spinach, Swiss cheese, grilled English muffin, poached eggs and hollandaise. Cooking on another level. It was fantastic! I thought maybe the bike ride on such a beautiful morning biased my review, but no, the food speaks for itself. The ride didn't hurt though. The dining room was busy and loud, but not too loud to have a conversation. The tables were close enough that you can comment to a complete stranger at the adjacent table about their dish and it isn't awkward (maybe it was...wife says it definitely was). We so enjoyed the meal. Take a trip to Fredericksburg and stop in for a bite. You will love it too. I'm sure. Bon appetit Yelpers.
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
This was perhaps the food highlight of the trip! The sandwich was recommended by our great waitress, Kayli. Did she lead us in the right direction!!! I cannot think of a better way to start our morning than with this breakfast in their beautiful dining room.
google avatar

Ellie N.

Yelp
Decent brunch place in Fredericksburg. Egg Benedict is cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Santa Fe omelette is alright but not outstanding. The baked Potato is too salty. Service is very good. The wait is 35 minutes at 11am on a Saturday. .
google avatar

Leslie F.

Yelp
Wonderful food and outstanding service. We were seated promptly even though the place was very busy because the host really hustled to clean a table for us. We ordered coffee, the AvocadoToast (which comes with two poached eggs) and the Sunsetter Benedict. All were delicious. Bill was about $43 including tax and tip!! Many thanks to Cassie for her excellent service and other local recommendations!
google avatar

Melynda C.

Yelp
Such a neat little breakfast/brunch restaurant in Fredericksburg! Inside and outside seating. Our waitress was so pleasant and the food came out promptly. My husband and I split an omelette which was delicious! Highly recommend giving Sunshine Grille a try!
google avatar

Daniela R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We came here for breakfast and had a great time. I got the huevos rancheros and it was just bursting with flavor! The salsa was actually spicy, and im mexican! Lol but it was really good. My husband got the biscuits and gravy, those were good too. There is plenty of seating but we enjoyed being out in the patio. Not bad prices and strong, delicious cold brews! Wonderful, quick service and easy parking. Definitely recommend this place and would come back!
google avatar

Joanna E.

Yelp
The food was gooddddd... service was good too. I got the big ass sandwich lol that's literally the name of it. I did switch it to scrambled eggs but that's just my preference. Will be returning!!!
google avatar

Georgia H.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere with tasty dishes. Great service. Pleasant outside seating (when it's not hot or windy.) Very popular so plan to wait for a time for brunch. Must try the zucchini "fries" they are actually huge logs (think ¼ of a zucchini.) They are perfectly seasoned.
google avatar

Courtnie L.

Yelp
Get there early! We got there around 9:30. There was already a line. So we kind of figured it would be worth the wait. We didn't have to wait long. We sat on the patio and they had the fans on. The food didn't take long to get to us. They were pretty nice portions and the food was really fresh.

Yelp
Great little place for breakfast and have great bloody Mary's. My hubby loves their homemade biscuits.
