If you’re ever in the Sea Isle City area of the Jersey Shore this place is a must. The food was very good. The service was very good and the views are awesome. We came before sunset and we’re able to witness the beauty of the sun going down slowly as we ate. We sat outside (highly recommended). Go early because seating is limited. Don’t know if they take reservations, we just popped in and got lucky.

Awesome for breakfast! Great service and fast! We loved being able to dine outdoors with our dog. The breakfast burrito was delicious! Especially the spicy sausage! The waffle was light and fluffy and the strawberries on top tasted very fresh. We will definitely be back! Fyi, it is cash only.

A trip down memory lane. Last time I was there it was John's Pier 55 yrs ago. It was right down the street from our family's cottage and the place I remember standing on a chair to play my 1st game of pinball standing on a chair. Dad's boat was docked there and that's where took off from to fish in the bay. Tbh, it was kinda seedy. Bait and a snack bar as I recall. But it's turned into I a trendy place. The service was 1st rate as was the view of my childhood bay. I strongly recommend the crab cakes and the fries were awesome. Things change. But the memories never change. And that cottage still stands right where I left it!

The restaurant is always good. The juice bar however, is always terrible. The girls working behind the counter could not care any less about their job or the customers. Don’t expect to be greeted with a “Hello”, “Good morning” or “How can we help you”. Don’t expect a greeting at all. And when they tell you that you can wait outside, don’t expect them to come and get you or even give a shout out of the window when your order is ready. You need to check back yourself. Smoothies are VERY inconsistent as far as taste, consistency, and temperature. Better off making your own at home. The cost of a new blender is a smaller price to pay than dealing with this business and its people. And probably a smaller price to pay than the cost of your order.

Big mistake trying Sunset Pier for dinner tonight. We are a family of 4 and we were wanting an easy casual dinner. My husband and my son got burgers and my daughter got a meatball. All the ground beef items we ordered had extremely hard bone fragments in them. They were inedible. We told the waitress and she brought some of the bone fragments to the kitchen to show them. She returned to the table and gave a quick apology, but didn’t offer to bring anything else from my husband, son or daughter. She disappeared for a long time and I finally decided to go ask another waitress for help. I wanted to pack up my meal and leave since no one else in my family could eat their food. Our waitress brought us to go container and our check & never came back so I had to go to the front desk to ask them if they would adjust our bill based on the fact that no one at the table other than self could eat their meal. I asked for a manager and the waitress at the front desk replied “there is no manager, only an owner and he’s not here.” I asked her to find our waitress since we hadn’t seen her in forever and she told our waitress to go talk to the kitchen to see if our check could be adjusted. They finally agreed to adjust our check, but our original waitress came by the table, threw the new bill on the table and kept walking. We asked three different people for help and they were all visibly annoyed. Instead of a decent meal, we got a hearty serving of eye rolling and avoidant attitude. I would not recommend Sunset pier or return their based on their poor handling of this problem. If there’s a problem, fix it instead of rolling your eyes at customers. They seriously need to check their food quality and handling AND customer service. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Came here with a group of friends for dinner after a day on the beach based on the reviews we read online. We started with the crab spinach dip which was brought out cold and had a horrible flavor. We tried adding salt and pepper, but the base of the dip itself was fishy and spoiled. Next, we received a cup of the lobster bisque and the sunset clam chowder, both of which were the consistency of water with no flavor whatsoever and oil sitting on top. We finally decided that we wanted to leave and not try any more of the food we ordered. When we told our server, Jess, the issues with the food and requested to cancel the remaining food, she was frustrated with us and said that she “asked if we needed anything with the food and we didn’t tell her” but in reality she just asked if we were done with it. We said we’d happily pay for the food we received, but just didn’t want the rest but she took the rest of the food back inside and didn’t say anything to us. I really caution anyone from trying this place because not only was the food inedible, but the staff was more than eager to argue with us than try to make it right.

Google
Amazing food, Amazing ambience and Amazing staff! The multigrain banana pancakes are the best! We’ve been eating here for years during our vacation and have never been disappointed. Make sure you stop by to view a sunset too!

This restaurant is good besides the fact you CANNOT PAY WITH CARD!!!!!!!! You have to use an ATM with a fee. They have good food with okay prices but overall not worth the hassle of splitting money yourself and no warning beforehand.

Yelp
A great spot with nice atmosphere. The staff work hard, the food is delicious, and the prices aren't overly inflated like other restaurants in the immediate area. We went with 10 people (6 of which were children) and it was a really nice dinner. All of the menu items sounded delicious and everything we ordered was delicious. We did not bring a bottle of wine or alcoholic drinks but the fact that it is a BYOB makes it even more appealing. It was overcast when we went but I imagine the sunset and view of the bay is incredible on a nice day. The meals for the kids came on frisbees that they got to keep and they were very excited about that too. Make sure you have cash because it is cash only although they do have an ATM on the premises in case you would need it.

Yelp
Want for breakfast and had an amazing avocado toast. Highly recommend as it is a lovely location on the bay.

Yelp
Our party of 9 adults enjoyed dining at Sunset Pier on 9/5/24. It was the perfect place to dine outside with the sun setting in the background. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Jack was our amazing server. He made menu recommendations that were spot on and we all enjoyed our selections. We will surely be back.

Yelp
Great little place in Sea Isle. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. Crab cakes were exceptional. Sandwiches are also tasty and large. Outdoor seating areas very pleasant but indoors ok too.

Liam M.

Yelp
The food is amazing and also the service is really good. All the employees are very kind, there's lots of menu options and dining options for big groups.

Yelp
I'm going to preface this rating of four stars with the fact that I've only eaten breakfast at Sunset Pier and being candid, I'm not a fan of breakfast. With that said, I didn't think it right to punish a business because I would much rather have a taco in the morning instead of pancakes. We came here a few times for breakfast the week after Labor Day. Each time, we were greeted in the parking lot by someone I'm assuming is the owner. He was very pleasant and his personality resonated through the rest of the staff in restaurant. We opted to sit outside because, we're at the beach! I ordered Pat's Famous JYD (pork roll, scrapple, bacon, egg and cheese on a kaiser roll) on one visit and the Breakfast Burrito with pork roll on a second visit. Both were good (as breakfast goes). The JYD stands for Junk Yard Dog and apparently they have these throughout Sea Isle. It's a big sandwich so be hungry and it probably wouldn't hurt to have your cardiologist on speed dial. I would've preferred an eggy with a runny yolk on the sandwich but I didn't ask (I'm sure they'd do it if I would've). The burrito was good as well, it was large (so again come hungry) and everything inside was cooked as expected. Both come with home fries, which as with my previous mention of breakfast displeasure...I could do without. They're cooked fine, actually better than most, just not my jam. Although they do have Cholula hot sauce so I was more than happy to cover the home fries in that tasty goodness! My wife and son on both occasions opted for something sweet, waffle for her and Mickey Mouse pancakes for him. They both said they were great and ate them, and since I'm pretty close to both of them, I'm assuming I should trust them. Overall, the restaurant does breakfast right, the service is quick and very pleasant. I would absolutely try them for lunch on a return visit.

Yelp
Food is not great. Toast was soggy. Service was lacking. Does have a nice view of the bay. Cash only.

Robert M.

Yelp
This is easy. The food is good and Jeff and his family do a great job. The staff that comes back here after year is a testament to how well the place is run and how Jeff's family does great work. The customers come back year after year and that's a testament to the consistently good service and good times and good food at the restaurant, oh I'm being on the water. That's not so bad either whether it's close to sunrise or sunset. It's a great place to go.

Renee M.

Yelp
Always a sincere pleasure! The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and nothing beats the view. My family has been going here for breakfast for 20 years; usually walking or riding bikes down in the cool of the morning. Although the menu has been updated with açaí bowls and smoothies, there are still the traditional breakfast choices; with everything fresh and made to order. Sunset Pier is one of the things that makes Townsend a special place.

Carrie S.

Yelp
This place is consistently good. We've only ever been here for breakfast/lunch. Service is always friendly and quick. Everyone is always hustling no matter when you go. Great staff! Great food! This most recent visit was no different. Not a long wait for outside. We could've sat immediately inside but it was a nice day to be by the water. I can't believe I forgot to take pics of the food!!! I had the garden avocado toast and added eggs. It was very filling. The greens, tomato and avocado were fresh and plentiful. The goat cheese was just the right amount. It's probably the first time I've ever gotten eggs over medium cooked perfectly. Restaurants usually make them too runny. My SO had the grinder which was said to be good. The sandwich was packed full with sausage, egg and peppers on a long roll. We also shared a side of home fries. They were just big pieces of cut up potatoes. I loved them compared to shredded ones but there wasn't any seasoning. And they were lukewarm and turned cold quickly.

Yelp
A great surprise. Wanted to try some place new with a view... Well stopped here on a whim and glad we did. Good spot for a scenic meal with great service. Will be back when in the area.

Sara B.

Yelp
The view and location can't be beat! On a sunny and warm day it was lovely to sit out on the pier and enjoy a meal. We had to wait a bit for a table, but a wait isn't so bad when you can sit and look out over the bay. Once we finally got seated service was speedy and friendly. We started off with a round of super refreshing Arnold Palmers. They came in cute Sunset Pier cups that we were even allowed to take home with us! The menu is standard cafe / diner fare (we sort of compared this to a diner on the water). There are way more breakfast options than lunch options. I was feeling lunch and asked if they'd be able to put a chicken caesar salad in a wrap (figuring it would be fine since there were other wrapped items on the menu, like a breakfast burrito). I was told no because they were understaffed, which seemed a bit strange. I went with a cheeseburger instead and was happy that I did. It was cooked perfectly medium and was juicy and flavorful. My friends ordered breakfast items and everyone really enjoyed their meal. For decent food with killer views this is a great option. They also serve dinner, and as the name suggests I'm sure this would be a wonderful place to enjoy a sunset dinner too.

Retna S.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this restaurant as my friend and I were looking for a place to eat with a view. Outdoor seatings are great to watch the sunset, nice view of the bay. Service was not great. It took a while for our waitress to take our orders. My friend and I were asking for dressing on the side but both of our salad already had dressing mixed in. Dinner rolls are dry. Crab cake is pretty good, mostly crab meat.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Best breakfast place I have eaten at in the shore area including Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle, and Ocean City. It's not fancy but everything was very good especially the sausage. It's rare to find a breakfast place that serves the fat sausage links. They are by far the best. Great place to sit outside but we welcomed the indoor dining because of the heat. Everyone is very courteous and friendly and prices are average for the area.

Carleee M.

Yelp
I understand this place had just started dinners however the the pasta was horrific. The scampi and white wine sauce was basically broth and NOT a sauce. Both meals were bland as can be. The shrimp was definitely not fresh it was mushy and bland Get a new chef or stop serving dinner here.

Len S.

Yelp
We are always looking for new places to have breakfast at the shore. Friends told us this place offers great outdoor ding on the pier. As I always do with new locations I checked the Yelp reviews. They were mixed so I was concerned. The parking situation was just as everyone said. I real problem. The best suggestion was to park on the main road and walk to the pier. I agree. The place is big and we could have sat inside. We wanted to experience the dock so we waited about 10 mins for a table. Servers were pleasant and fast. However a little too fast. The coffee was good and they did keep our cups full. The omelettes were subpar. I'm not a fan of omelettes we're the meats and veggies are folded in. I like my ingredients mixed in with the egg when it's cooked. The potatoes were dull and cold. Loved the view not a fan of the food.

Emily C.

Yelp
Came here in August for an end of the summer dinner with a group of 8. They easily accommodated us and were very kind! We wore our masks all the way to our tables and the tables were social distanced. The staff was friendly (although not always attentive). Overall, we really enjoyed our food and the view! Pictured below is the fish tacos, chicken marsala, and broiled seafood combo. The fish tacos were mine and they were delicious! The chicken and seafood were also enjoyed greatly by my friends. Although these are the only pictures I have, I'll list below what my other friends got to let you guys know what's good here! Buffalo Chicken Salad Lobster Bisque Crab Cakes Fried Seafood Combo Everyone enjoyed their meals and we loved the view from the table! They have a great spot in the back for pictures (down below). Love it here!

Michael P.

Yelp
I frequently dock my boat there , and take family and friends to this restaurant. Great food and great bayfront atmosphere. A real family atmosphere with great food. try the grouper sandwich.'

David S.

Yelp
Best Buttermilk Pancakes ever! Great Breakfast! Not sure what was better, the food or the Awesome view of the bay on the dock! ENJOY!

Fredi O.

Yelp
Hard to find a waterfront restaurant in sea isle with great food and friendly servers. Breakfast from simple to adventurous- avocado toast on multigrain with goat cheese, arugula, cherry tomatoes and two eggs. Dinner fresh seafood and soups. It's a down-to-earth place with well prepared food in a delightful setting. Can't go wrong

K D.

Yelp
Had breakfast here. Service and food were both excellent. Enjoyed sitting by the water and having morning coffee. All around great experience Give them a try. Prices are very reasonable

Christina M.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in sea isle for breakfast mainly for the view. I like to sit outside on the dock rather than inside because it's so noisy and it's not that nice in there... it's worth the wait to sit outside in my opinion. The food is decent and not too expensive. I've only had breakfast there and been satisfied with the food there. They also added Sunset Squeeze which is a smoothie, juice, and açaí bowl place. You can either order in the little shop behind the restaurant along the dock and take it to go or order off the menu. They also do beach delivery which can be convenient. Just not sure how well a smoothie travels in delivery. Maybe I will try it out next year. The smoothies are good though and the ingredients seem fresh. The place is cash only.

Gary H.

Yelp
Staff was nice.. The wait was surprisingly quick for a Saturday am in August. Food was pretty good, but I think some things are pre or par cooked, the food came out within 5 minutes. That is extraordinary for a place with a 40 minute wait time to sit. But overall, a great little place, with good food, and a great view.

Conrad B.

Yelp
Visited 08/05/2019 Came for breakfast/lunch... around 11am. (They offer breakfast until 2pm) Right on the bay at the end of 86th street, this place was packed, so anticipate a wait. Food was very good... lots to choose from, too much to mention here. Alll the egg dishes came out as we all (7 of us) ordered... no complaints. Good coffee... fresh squeezed OJ... indoor or outdoor seating... and friendly service. It is a BYOB so that's a plus... Oh... CASH ONLY... so come prepared, although there is an ATM inside.

Solomon D.

Yelp
Great view and diner food done right. Went on a Sunday morning and while it was packed, only had about a 20 minute wait. While you're waiting you can stay out on the dock and look at the boats and the water. There are also a couple bar games you can play out back. Lots of seating inside and some limited seating outside, so if its crowded be prepared for a wait to sit outside. Basic food selection but the omelette and home fries were done well. Had blueberry pancakes as well which were nice and fluffy with a good amount of blueberries in them. Overall the location and view especially from the outside seating is nice. Food isn't necessarily anything to write home about but its diner food done well.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Don't recommend for lunch, but OK for a quick breakfast. They have a dock, so we stopped in while we were out on the jet skis. They serve breakfast and lunch until 2pm so most people were dining in for both. The breakfast looked pretty good, but I would not go back again for lunch. I ordered the flounder sandwich, which tasted and looked like a frozen piece of fish. It was so thin I could hardly see the fish, just the breading. The clam chowder wasn't terrible, but it wasn't creamy like it should be. It had more herb flavor than creamy chowder. We also ordered the burger, which seemed fine - much better than the fish sandwich! If we are in the area, we might stop in again for breakfast or the juice bar, but would check out the other restaurants on the water first.

Nir G.

Yelp
Great Açaí bowls and smoothies. You can't beat the view either. My son and I rode our bikes here for breakfast and loved the location. There is a juice bar in the back or you can order from the waitresses.

Joe S.

Yelp
This is always a dependable place to get a VG breakfast/lunch from a friendly staff in a great bay environment ... never tried dinner ... that's next!

Robyn H.

Yelp
Very nice view to grab breakfast on the bay. Service is quick even for large groups. Menu varies for those looking for anything from breakfast to dinner. The breakfast potatoes are fantastic! Don't skip those. Prices are reasonable. Parking isn't the best but if you go early street parking savannah be found.

Deborah L.

Yelp
Went for breakfast with my daughter, son-in-law and 11 month old grand daughter. Got there at 8 am. They immediately brought a high chair for the baby. Didn't realize they had upgraded their menu from the old standards. Oh my gosh. Breakfast was delicious and they now have many new interesting options. Not just eggs and pancakes. There's Smoothies, breakfast bowls, avocado on toast, AND one of the most pleasant and efficient waitresses ever. Our smiling waitress made the food taste even better. Can't wait to go there to try the tasty sounding lunch menu.

Valerie W.

Yelp
Love this place. Casual, on the water, quality food and not a total ripoff like most of the restaurants in SIC. They have a juice bar attached which is amazing. Cash only.

Steven M.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning. Only waited about 15 minutes to get seated. Line moved pretty quickly. We were greeted by our server, Shelby. She kept our coffee cups filled up, took our order right away, and food came out quickly and it was served fresh off the grill. Shelby was great, meal was great. You can't beat the location, looking out across the bay. Would recommend eating outside to enjoy the view. Thank you Shelby for making our breakfast experience at Sunrise Pier so enjoyable.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Overall this place was good, nothing special for a breakfast place. I got the avocado toast with egg which was tasty. Their breakfast sandwiches were a good size, tasty, and enough to make you full. They had a nice view overlooking the dock. They also had a juice bar/smoothie place next-door which was decent, the almond milk kind of took a lot of the fruit flavor away but it wasn't awful. I would just like to mention that it is a very family oriented restaurant so keep that in mind if you want to eat here and have a calming environment.

Teagan T.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Sunset Pier. Grace M. was our waitress and she was so great. She went above and beyond; what unforgettable service! We'll definitely be back!!

Bobby L.

Yelp
We have eaten at the Sunset for years. And every time was great. But I'm thinking this was our last trip there. All our food was cold and seemed tasteless. Three meals and all three were nothing to write home about. Baked potato had a black center and cost an extra $2.50. Scallops had a weird taste. Fish had no taste. Appetizer crab and spinach was hard and cold. Needs to be hot and a little runny. We were the first there at the 5 opening, so we know they were not under pressure. Maybe breakfast and lunch are better. Our server was nice and no complaints. Our bill with tip was over $110.00. Think twice please about taking your family here. I'm sorry I had to write this bad review but people need to know.

Bill M.

Yelp
Sunset Pier is OK ! - the food is good, we come here primarily for breakfast. It is a little pricey for what you get, but really not too bad - it is all fresh made, however it isn't stellar - but it is very good. It can be very busy here....very - with lines. The views are fantastic sitting right on the water, it can be very beautiful, peaceful and a lovely place to enjoy breakfast. The service tends to be a little harried sometimes...often very young girls working and with the crowds this place attracts it can be a little frantic when its busy - orders have been known to be a little off, but are immediately corrected. I have been coming here for years, I live within walking distance and rely on Sunset for many of my breakfasts when I'm down - and I would recommend it to anyone. It's a good solid nice place for good food and wonderful views. Parking is a problem - it is not their fault though - parking is now a major nightmare on the entire island, not just here.

Daniele L.

Yelp
I would give this 0 stars Me and my boyfriend went to sunset pier this morning excited to eat there for breakfast. After we got seated we never got a waitress or even waters... I think we sat there for about 30 minutes, but it felt like forever . the waitresses were walking back and forth our table and just acted like we were invisible. We even stopped a worker and politely asked for a waitress and still never got one. After hopelessly waiting we got up and walked out, I don't think anyone even noticed. Not to mention the hostesses love talking shit on their customers IN FRONT of their customers. This has been a thing for years I don't know why they are so bitter just DO YOUR JOB if you don't like it don't live in new jersey I am really disappointed and never going back

Tom C.

Yelp
The best. Fast, quick, good quality, nice views. We eat out a lot and they have a great business model, other than lack of parking, fantastic spot.

Teresa G.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I tried this place for a date night . The mussels in red & clams in white were very good! I got the broiled seafood combo & liked it but wasnt impressed enough to finish it . Was kind of bland for my liking. Would definitely come back to sip on byob wine and eat mussels and clams though!

Jon Z S.

Yelp
Love this place! Everything is amazing. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The burger we had our first night here was fantastic! And a huge Brunch got us through Isais! We've had so many amazing memories watching the sun set over the bay here. From experience I can tell you the pictures are ideal for a Christmas card.

melissa w.

Yelp
We have been coming here for so long for breakfast. It's hands down, my kids' favourite!! Everything is good and my boy love the sausage the most. Love it Year after year!

Leon H.

Yelp
Food was great. Was seated right when we arrived and service was quick. I would highly recommend going here if your in the area. Seafood tasted fresh and tastes even better!!!

lee m.

Yelp
Great views, decent food, ok prices. We went early one day and still had to wait to get a table on the water. They only have about 7 tables right on the water. We could have been sat immediately inside or along the wall outside but we wanted the view. Overall we waited about 30 min after the host said 5 or 10 minutes.. If we got there 10 minutes later we would have waited over an hour since it started filling up with people waiting for outside tables. Besides the view nothing stood out.. My omelette was ok and my gf' s avocado toast was the same. Actually I almost forgot they have amazing homefries that came with the meal.. I normally dont like homefries but these were really good. We were there late in the season and understand places lose help and the experience tends to drop. We will get breakfast again next year just for the view and hopefully the food is a bit better. Oh they also have a juice bar with smoothies and cold pressed juices. Because of that I'm going to raise my review 1 star..

Kathleen D.

Yelp
Nice view and open air outdoor dining. Waitress was nice. Clam chowder was thin more like an oyster stew not a thick chowder. The hunk of wet stew soaked bacon was odd. Ordered the fried grouper sandwich, roll was good and the fish was freshly battered, it however was not grouper, likely cod. Disappointing would have liked to know that they didn't have grouper and they were substituting. Might try for breakfast but lunch was only ok.

Yelp
Had a great breakfast last summer during the pandemic, very clean, staff awesome and the breakfast and coffee were great. Highly recommend. Sat outside near the boats in the bay, very serene and relaxing, will be going back this summer

Yelp
Went with my family tonight and got the shrimp scampi. It was probably the best I have had in a while and the side salad was just the right size for me. The view of the water is also great.
