2 Days In Helsinki

"Suomenlinna Brewery, a craft brewhouse set in a 19th-century barracks. Beer has been brewed here since the Swedes built the barracks in 1868, and that tradition proudly continues today with six house brews available on tap." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team

We enjoyed our summer dinner quite a lot. We arrived at a busy time in the evening, the restaurant was almost full, and the staff was under resourced, it took time to get attention of the waitresses in the beginning. We had a table reservation, and after being sited everything went smoothly. Dishes were prepared well, service was friendly, atmosphere very nice. Sometimes you can see that a few summer workers are a bit lacking experience, there were few clumsy moments, for that a small minus. Otherwise it was all quite nice, let the photos speak for themselves. We didn’t leave hungry, the time was spent nicely! P.S. Red wine selection is too limited, almost bad. Cheap wines are overpriced. But among those 3-4 choices there is a very pleasant surprise- Chianti Riserva is moderately priced and a good quality wine, for the wine lovers that would be my recommendation

I went to this restaurant for lunch, excited to try their beers and hoping for a good experience with friends. While the beer list was impressive and the staff were friendly, the food, especially for a vegan customer, was shockingly poor. I ordered the "Cauliflower Steak with Chanterelles", which turned out to be little more than a poshly decorated plate of boiled vegetables. A slice of lightly fried cauliflower sat on top of plain potatoes, with a tiny portion of mushrooms and a basic tomato sauce. There was no effort to include any vegan protein, no balance to the dish. I even had to ask for some bread as it was not offered on the side. For a dish priced at €25, this was genuinely a rip-off. Because the dish was so light and nutritionally empty, I couldn’t even enjoy nor finish my beer. In the end, I spent €32 and left hungry, frustrated, and regretting the experience entirely. This may be a great spot for beer lovers who eat everything, but for vegetarians or vegans, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. This was, hands down, one of the worst meals I’ve had during my stay in Helsinki.

We loved salmon soup. However, this is few euros more in comparison with other local restaurants in Helsinki. Staff haven’t been professional at all. Was not happy I am paying cash. Because she hasn’t had enough change at the till. It was weekend. Should be busy and they should be well prepared. Not that I had 500Euro note either.

Recently had a wedding reception here; the food and beer was just perfect and the service was equally great and friendly. Communicating with the venue prior to the event was quick and easy too. The little terrace & bar out back was perfect for this weather

Do not miss this bistro! We tried the salmon cream soup with other local dishes and they were above our expectations. Tasty, creamy, special.. Yummy Yummy 🤩 The waiter, Rahim was one of the kindest ones ever...thanks a lot for treating us as princesses. 🙏 Dear Tourists, Come & enjoy this fantastic place in Finland.

Had a team day there, including breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee. Loved the old architecture and atmosphere. The staff was also most pleasant. Food was simple and good. Would give the place another try for food + beverage with friends.

Nice restaurant. They also have a brewery and selection of beers available on tap. Beer price in year 2024 - 10 EUR for 0.5 beer.

Super calm and cozy restaurant with really good vibes! We went to have lunch there today because it was recommanded to us and it was delicious! I had one of the beer they brew right on the island and it was light and fruity, for the main course I had the reindeer and it was tender and well cooked! With carrots and potatoes, it was perfectly sized! The amount of meat is generous and you would want to lick the plate because the sauce is sooooo delicious! I couldn't take desert after that! You can go without hesitation! Plus, they speak really well english 👍

Yelp
Taking a ferry trip to an island almost exclusively for tourists did not promise to yield great food and beverages, but this place wildly exceeded expectations. It's nothing overly fancy inside, but the staff made us feel right at home. The menu is full of Finnish delights; do try the game platter (the bear salami is unique). We got a sampler of the beer, all of which we enjoyed. If you need a change of scenery while in Helsinki, take a short ride over here and work up an appetite walking the island.

Yelp
We had dinner at the Brewery terrace. My Swiss friend got to taste a reindeer meal, which he said, was amazingly good. Meat well done and soft. I had the mushroom risotto, which was excellent also. Food was good but quite expensive. Reindeer 29€. Also drinks, beer & a glass of wine, were pricey. Service was very friendly from one person and quite rude from an another.
