Basically, if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. As a Venezuelan coming to a Venezuelan owned restaurant, I want them to succeed more than anyone else. However, I must be honest and warn you to STAY AWAY.
This is the ONLY establishment - and I say this confidently having dined in different markets including Miami, Tallahassee, NYC, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, among MANY others - where they expect you to pay for a cup of a iced water. Because the female owner was extremely receptive the first time I went, I asked for her contact information. Immediately, I was quickly denied by a gentleman who claimed to also be the owner. He insisted I voice my concerns so I suggested to him that they should not force their customers to pay for water when any and all nearby establishments will gladly oblige the same request free of charge. And this, my friends, is where it all went downhill.
His first argument was that the Pepsi machine has no filter so they can't encourage people to drink from it but that they can drink from it at their own risk if they'd like. Well that's funny because every time I've gone I've never been told of this "risk," simply that I CAN indeed drink from their water fountain so long as I pay for my water. I pointed this out and also kindly suggested that, if his concern was indeed about the customers, there are many ways to address it - including just buying a $50 filter. At this point he became rude and, as I've come to expect from Venezuelan businesses, downright insulting. His next argument was "what's the big deal, are you too cheap to pay for water?!" before inviting us to never visit his restaurant again.
As someone who frequents fine dining restaurants, this argument was never about the money and his response was infuriating. In fact, every $100+ tab we've accrued at any other restaurant has always been paired with a complimentary glass of ice cold water. Ultimately, this boils down to the fact that they think they are entitled to FORCE customers to pay for something that is readily available for free anywhere else. Even worse, they feel entitled to insult and run away customers who want nothing more than to watch them succeed. There are many other restaurants in the area (Sushi Sake, Los Verdes, Los Perros) that are open late, have far superior customer service, and don't increase their prices while decreasing their portion sizes and the quality of service.
