The 13 Best Donuts In NYC

"Don’t be fooled by Super Nice’s unassuming takeout window. This East Harlem spot (with locations on the UWS and Chelsea) is beloved by neighborhood residents for their coffee, pastries, and donuts with flavors like strawberry lemonade and mango chili. If you’re having trouble deciding, go for their glazed loganberry with just the right amount of sweetness, or a beautiful pistachio creation that gets some oomph from a crumble with a heavy dose of cardamom and star anise. They often have afternoon deals if you sign up for texts." - molly fitzpatrick, carlo mantuano, sonal shah, neha talreja, kenny yang

Super Nice Coffee And Bakery Review - East Harlem - New York - The Infatuation

"Don’t be fooled by Super Nice’s unassuming takeout window. This doughnut shop, with locations in East Harlem and the UWS, is beloved by neighborhood residents for its coffee and pastries. If you’re having trouble deciding between flavors like strawberry lemonade and mango chili, we’d recommend the just sweet-enough glazed loganberry, and a beautiful pistachio croissant. We wish they had seating, if only to take a moment to appreciate all the zany art decorating the store, but it’s a quick transaction. You’ll be on your way with a doughnut and chicory latte less than 10 minutes after you order. They also have a third location in Chelsea." - Neha Talreja

Google
Everyone says Super Nice has one of the best donuts in town, and they did not disappoint! I love how thick and the softness of the donut is giving. You just have to know the right flavors since some I really didn’t like some were too sour for my liking but as you see everyone was suggesting the pistachio and coconut flavors. The dough of the donuts, hands down 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 The drip coffee was good too! We did try reheating it in air fryer and it was still good 👍🏼 Review Edit: The donuts was the one reheated in the air fryer. NOT the coffee 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Google
The plain glaze donut which cost $6 had crusty hard glaze on top that was chipping off. I had to heat it up a little to soften it up a bit. It was a good tasting donut but as you can see not really worth $6. Also, if you pay by card be forewarned that you will start getting marketing emails from them same day. This place is annoying in more ways than one. Edit: After tax and tip you are technically paying closer to $6. Six dollars for a crusty, greasy, super nice donut. You’re welcome!

Google
I love Super Nice, but damn, ask for a box if you aren’t eating your donut on the spot. Apparently 4 big expensive donuts wasn’t enough to warrant a box otherwise, and on a warm morning the icing all melts off onto the bag… 😢

Google
Donuts are sooo delicious and so grateful there’s vegan options just around the corner. Passion fruit is next level!!

Google
Takeaway place that has turned this savory snack lover into a donut convert. The donut dough is super soft. I get the plain glazed one. Yum! Coffee's pretty awesome too!

My favorite pastry spot around Columbia. Awesome, creative food and drinks. Super friendly staff. They offer treats to dogs and my dog love them and always tempt me to go there.

Google
Highly recommend. Cinnamon roll, incredible. Croissant cheese Danish, delectable. Service: so friendly, kind, and engaging. Coffee: delicious. Definitely need to check this place out and then take it and eat at the park a few blocks away on 104/Amsterdam!

Google
Oh, my goodness, the BEST donuts in the neighborhood, possibly all of NYC. Amazing flavors (can never decide between maple pecan, blood orange, or mango chili, so end up getting them all), super big and fluffy. The pastries are also outstanding with wonderful sweet and savory options. Our family loves their new pizza shop around the corner, too. Super Nice to have them in the neighborhood!

Yelp
The best donut I've ever had in my life. (Blood orange glaze, my god -- delicious). And okay it might've been that I'd run 15 miles and told myself I'd get a donut as a reward at the end of the run. But even so, this was the best donut -- perfect yeasty fried goodness. Will try to end all my runs here. Will maybe find a way to just randomly stop here halfway thru a run. You gotta fuel, after all. (Didn't get coffee. Will try the coffee next time).

Yelp
I normally love this location, coffee and danish Not to mention the great donuts! But this week I was in line over 30 min to order a coffee and danish We were all waiting while the people inside were on the phone doing orders and filling them out. People in line left early and the over worked people working were not very accommodating . I'm sorry to write this but feel the people need more support inside. And management needs to work on helping their workers to be more successful and happy working there. The coffee I did get and danish was of course were delish but not worth the wait.

Yelp
Enjoyed my coffee and donuts from Super Nice! Coffee reviews seem very mixed. I ordered a small New Orleans style iced coffee ($5). I liked it! There was a little sweetness to it which I always need in my coffee. They had about 8 different types of donuts available. The flavors available are written very small on the bottom of the menu. All donuts are $4.50. Most are fruit flavored or with sprinkles. I don't recall any with chocolate. I ordered the pineapple coconut (two of my favorite things) and the mango chili. Biting into the donut my first thought was "Krispy Kreme" that it what these donuts are comparable too. They are soft and greasy like Krispy Kremes. Both glazes that I got were good. The mango chili is of course very different so taking a bite of that one was like "wow"

Yelp
Super Nice Coffee and Bakery has some solid donuts & coffee- what's not to love? I completely understand the hype of this place as the donuts really are fantastic as is the coffee (& I had a simple drip coffee for reference). I had the mangonada donut & it was indeed delicious. You can tell the donut is great quality. The person working there was also super friendly & kind despite being busy. I'd go back if I was in the area for sure.

Yelp
I was craving donuts so I decided to try this place out since it had good reviews. I got several donuts because they were having the 1+1 event. Overall, I thought the donuts were ok-- they weren't as sweet in the inside as I liked them to be. Service was fast and ambiance was very casual. Note that this is a pick up only store, so there's no place to sit.
google avatar

Connie G.

Yelp
I stopped by for their donuts but they had a full drink menu, along with other pastries and breakfast sandwiches. I got the mango chili glazed donut - the donut itself is huge and fluffy, and the mango chili flavor was on point. I was surprised by how pricey these were (~$5) but overall a solid donut. Note that this place is just a window counter where you order and pick up your food - there's no seating!
google avatar

Yelp
Love their coffee and vegan donuts! Service is usually very quick and it's such a convenient option for me. There isn't any seating but a lovely option for a quick grab and go coffee and treat!

Yelp
I love a good donut, and Super Nice has a good donut. They also have biscuits, croissants, and egg sandwiches; but I've stuck to what they're known for. The donuts are light, fluffy and soft and always taste fresh. My favorite has probably been the maple pecan, but I've yet to try a flavor I didn't enjoy. They always have yeast donuts, but I've never seen a cake donut in stock. I get it, the yeast donuts are good, but there really isn't as much variety as it seems. I'm pretty sure the yeast donut base is identical across all of the flavors - they just have different options for glazes. Bringing back cake donuts more consistently would be nice to actually have a variety in donuts themselves - not just in glazes. The flavors also don't rotate that often, so I only stop by once in a while even though it's so close by to me. I always appreciate a vegan option, but having had the regular and vegan variety - the vegan dough unfortunately isn't as soft/doughy as the regular donuts. Good donut still, just not AS good. Small gripe about the coffee: in 2024 I we could move past up-charging for non-dairy milk -- how do your vegan donuts cost the same as the regular but not your vegan coffee? It's just a window off 108th street, so easy to miss if you're not paying attention. I've found the service to be fine, no one is bending over backwards to cater to me, but it's a no frills place so I'm good with that. Good doughnuts if you're in the neighborhood, but most neighborhoods in NY have something comparable, so I wouldn't necessarily travel just to try these.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
So delicious! The vegan donut was pillowy and warm and oh so good. Coffee was darn tasty, too and the staff and shop were both wonderful and inviting.

Yelp
I wanted to try the chocolate or original glazed donut but they were sold out! Sadly the donuts that were available didn't impress. The cinnamon roll was sweet but the bread wasn't soft enough. I wish it was warmed. The fruity pebbles donut is how you'd expect. It's just a donut with fruity pebbles as toppings which was stale. I'd come back here to try the glazed donuts because I think they'd be better.
google avatar

Francisca B.

Yelp
Th best donuts I have tried!!! Freshly made, the texture of the donuts reminds me of my childhood donuts. I bought 6 donuts and let them chose them for me: cinnamon sugar (simple is my fav), glazed, chocolate, passion fruit, coconut, hazelnut? I wish I took the photo of those colorful donuts :) .... impatient to eat them lol Friendly & Fast service too!
google avatar

Marni K.

Yelp
These donuts are out of this world good!! I used to get them all of the time after my son's baseball game down the street - he stopped playing there and I miss them! But they are worth a special trip!
google avatar

Ivan G.

Yelp
The coffee is pretty good the donuts definitely have a unique spin on them. You can see how they're made when you order, which is cool if you're into that sort of thing. The line is more often than not way too long and the workers have this "everyone is a nuisance" type of energy. Not sure I'd go back given the amount of places I can get a coffee and donut, and walk out not feeling like I'm bothering the employees.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Logan berry donut was soooo good!! These donuts can be addicting - good or bad, you decide. Lol iced chai hit the spot on a hot day too Definitely going to return again and again
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
What a lovely little gem. The fruity pebbles donut is absolutely the best in that category, sparing on the pebbles but seemed to have a lot of cereal milk flavor throughout the donut (which is larger and denser than you realize!) Also shoutout to the guy working today, just the kind of person you want to interact with before coffee.
google avatar

Brandi R.

Yelp
Rude service. I called ahead to make sure they were open until 4pm on a Sunday as there hours on Apple Maps say 3pm and I was traveling from lower Manhattan but when I arrived they were closed. I called the shop at 2:55pm and the guy who answered the phone said "Hi! Yes, we close at 4pm today". When I arrived at 3:34pm, there was a sign on the door that said "closed", I knocked on the door and the guy opens the window and said "yeah we're closed" and I said "oh but when I called you said you were open until 4pm?", he proceeded to say "you should come earlier next time." His attitude was very rude and not empathetic for the confusion at all. I unfortunately will not be returning.

Yelp
I stopped by on a Monday afternoon for a quick bite between classes, craving a donut and my usual iced latte. While it's mainly a to-go window style bakery, they have a bench outside, which was perfect for a little break. The shop is tucked away between 108th Street and Amsterdam, offering some shade from the sun, making it a nice spot to sit and enjoy my donut. I got the chocolate glazed donut, and it was delicious. The employee was friendly, and the atmosphere outside was pleasant for a brief, relaxing moment.

Yelp
Saw a group of people waiting in line so we obviously had to check this out haha. I had never even noticed the place until yesterday but it's been around for a few months already. By noon they had run out of a lot of things which was expected. But they still had a good variety of croissants, donuts, and muffins. I had a dulce de leche latte which was delicious, not too sweet. The spicy mango donut was weird but also very good.

Yelp
I enjoy the vegan donuts. Both my wife and I find them to taste much better than the non-vegan donuts. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and very easy to communicate with. The vegan donuts I highly recommend are the chocolate glazed, the strawberry sprinkle, the loganberry, and the maple pecan. The tasty treats and friendly service keep us coming back. The two young women who work on the weekends are always kind and efficient, and we're always happy to see them. They are super nice!

Penelope S.

Yelp
As a vegan I haven't had many good donuts and I refuse to eat lousy ones, but this was incredible, far exceeded my expectations, the coconut one had a slight tart note that balance the sweet toasted coconut beautifully in the glaze, the blood orange was sweet yet sour just like the fruit and the chocolate sprinkle was a classic that was equally delicious. The dough is airy and perfectly sweet and buttery without being heavy with oil, they're soft and tender to bite. Also the lattes are great, not too acidic espresso and balanced milk ratio. Finally the service was great, very helpful and friendly lady took my order, and a nice man had my latte ready quickly and they were all polite and efficient. There's only one bench outside to sit if u need, but the vibe is nice to stop by for a treat! Next time I visit I'm certainly going to make it a point to come back! Well done to this place , plus the logo is absolutely adorable!

Yelp
The quality of product is very nice. The cinnamon roll itself is a hit and totally worth the $5 price tag. The egg sandwiches get a bit too high on the pricy end for the portion size. While the quality and flavors are good, I'm not quite sure that this would be a reasonable option for daily sandwiches. The location is strictly take-out and not wheelchair accessible, so be aware. The order window is at the top of the stairs so I'm not sure what your options would be if you're not able to go up the narrow stairs to the window. Perhaps you can call ahead or they may come down to you. The coffee is good but also on the pricier side with your basic coffee starting at $4. They do accept cash, cashless options and credit/debit cards. While generally the fare is good, I'm not sure how Super Nice will compete with other options in the area. Some pretty cool perks are that they offer varying flavors for your coffee, simple syrup is used in place of suggar, and CBD is an option for spicing up your coffee-- at a cost. I love having a new option in the neighborhood and hope they stick around even if it's too pricy to be my go to in the area. Check it out and see if it works for you. I'm hoping they will adjust prices or serving size for local consumers like me to frequent more often.

Sydney G.

Yelp
These donuts are insane. I did not try the coffee, so I can't comment on that. But I was absolutely blown away by the flavors and SIZE of these bad boys. The line does move fairly slow, no shade on the service, I think people just don't realize what they want until they're standing there staring down the donut selection. 10/10 - will be looking forward to trying more flavors!
google avatar

Mathew S.

Yelp
Donuts and pastry are 5/5 Dropping 2 stars because coffee isn't great. I thought it was because I was going close to closing around 3pm, but today grabbed coffee and donut at 1pm and again coffee was lukewarm and tasted bad.
google avatar

Tai G.

Yelp
I have been trying to go to the location on the east side but I never make it on time so I was super excited when they opened a small location on the west side. The line was not long I waited less than 10 mins. I ordered the guava and cheese danish which I devoured. It was soft and flaky. I also got the everything croissant and the pistachio croissant. The pistachio croissant is good and had pistachio creme filling. The croissants are flaky and crispy. My next visit I will buy a box of doughnuts
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Oh YUM! My friend found this place and insisted we get some donuts. If I'm totally honest I can be very picky when it comes to donuts they are not all created equal. This donut was really delicious and somehow a very different consistency than a commercial donut. It was really fluffy and maybe heavier then a donut you may be use to, it's hard to explain. I could have eaten the half dozen she picked up but I refrained. This was really a nice treat, I'll have to make my way over.

James S.

Yelp
the person there gave me a discount and she was so nice and patient 10/10 service and amazing donuts
google avatar

Wendy H.

Yelp
I think they're trying to go for a "We're so cool we don't give an F about you or that we're out of everything on our menu" vibe. Pretty sure it wasn't worth waiting in line 30 minutes to get a dismissive, "We're out of that" to everything I wanted to order. Their sign of what was sold out was not updated. "So, what do you have?" I asked. They had croissants and banana bread. No donuts, no sandwiches, no egg menu items. 3 stars because their pastries were still good, could be 2 stars because somehow I walked away feeling like it was my fault for trying to order items on their menu not knowing that they were sold out of basically everything. Still, the banana bread was good. The strawberry cream croissant was a little too creamy/soggy for me, but the pastry itself was good.
google avatar

Nora M.

Yelp
The guava cheese pastry is historic. Donuts and coffee are also very good. Definitely one of the pricier spots in the neighborhood but worth it for a treat.

Kayley F.

Yelp
Staff are the farthest thing from super nice, just stare at you no matter what you say. Thought it was one bad day but the negative attitude is consistent. The coffee and sweets are good but the customer service sours the whole experience.
google avatar

Andrea A.

Yelp
The food and coffee was pretty good but I remember the staff being very stonefaced and not friendly. I'm gonna give them a try again today. Maybe I'll update my review. Hahah.

Irina K.

Yelp
The pistachio croissant at Super Nice is the best one I've ever had, making all other pistachio croissants pale in comparison. It's just sensational. I also find their vegan donuts amazing and they taste just as good as the regular ones. I'm amazed at employee retention -- I know the person I usually order from has been at the window since they opened in 2021 so that's very rare and impressive. Wish they added seating. Yes, come early, they sell out.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
I love Super Nice Coffee and Bakery's donuts so was thrilled to discover they opened a location closer to my apartment. Like the original, the donuts are delicious. By the time we arrived, they only had chocolate and strawberry donuts left. While both were good (chewy, fabulous dough), the strawberry was the surprising winner. They are huge so easy to split among friends. The lady told us to come by 9 am or order in advance if we want the full selection of donuts and treats. FYI - This location is take-out only.
google avatar

Althea C.

Yelp
I will ride for Super Nice until the end of my days. If Super Nice has no stans I'm dead. I have a cute little story I tell about how 5 years ago before I lived in ny I stumbled upon this little bakery window and had the best cinnamon roll ever. 5 years later they open a second location a block away from my apt. IS THAT FATE? Idk but I'm gaining weight from the maple pecan donuts and croissants I'll tell you that. they def run out of stuff tho so don't be mad just go early or try another day

Kristine V.

Yelp
the pastries are good. Hand pies super flakey. shout out the cheddar biscuit. love that they have vegan options (I'm not vegan)but anything bacon egg and cheese a bit of is a disappointment. 1 crumbled slice of bacon. likewise for the cappuccino I've ordered multiple times. no foam and not hot enough. I keep trying to give this place a chance for my morning breakfast but I am always let down. I would still try the pastries, as I believe that is there bread and butter- not the coffee. On a personal opinion, this places seems like it's by gentrifiers, for gentrifiers.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
Many lovely things to eat. Excellent iced latte. The only time I have enjoyed receiving texts from a stranger. The texts are worth signing up for - they're a bright and funny spot in the day. And the fellow gives my dog a treat! Wonderful little shop.
google avatar

David T.

Yelp
Love super nice so glad they opened a spot on the Westside! Theur donuts are heavenly and their croissants are immaculate. Both are... super nice!

Carid S.

Yelp
Love the coffee here! James makes the best caramel iced latte! Customer service and donuts are phenomenal. Everyone is super sweet and puppy friendly
google avatar

Johanna F.

Yelp
Yaoza, I had the left over strawberry donut at the end of day and it was delicious...and im not a strawberry girl. I wanted the chocolate, but they had run out. The iced late also excellent. Yay for small kick ass coffee shops in my native NY.
google avatar

Ashlyn D.

Yelp
Delicious donuts! The cheddar biscuit is a must-try as well. The person serving us was so kind and I wish I would have visited sooner. It's worth the trip.
google avatar

Ethan F.

Yelp
This is, by far, my favorite coffee and donuts shop in the UWS. I was a fan of the East side location but this might be even better! The baked goods are always fresh and delicious and I know the coffee will always be perfectly brewed. A+++++
google avatar

Jasmin F.

Yelp
Was it worth almost $50 bucks on GrubHub? Not at all. No straw for my iced coffee, $11 for a biscuit sandwich the size of an hockey puck. Hot honey ham sandwich was just a sandwich, nothing great about it. The only good thing were the donuts.
google avatar

Erika B.

Yelp
Eh. The donuts were warm and soft but the flavors weren't great (got a berry and maple one). The pistachio croissant had way too much filling and was way too sweet. Didn't prefer their coffee either.

Joe A.

Yelp
Terrific donuts! They tend to run out of certain kinds by late morning so good to get there early.
google avatar

Astrid B.

Yelp
delicious. super convenient. nice service. just sucks to wait outside in the cold. would still go all the time if i lived here, every single coffee i've had is delicious
google avatar

Mr. Hungry O.

Yelp
Get ready for the best donut you've ever had. It's so good they don't need a sign or a menu or chairs or anything. It is next to the basketball court if for some reason there is not a line of people there.
google avatar

Carissa H.

Yelp
I was visiting New York City for four days and came here every day. This place has the best coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches, hands down. The employees are amazing, the coffee and food are life-changing, and I truly cannot recommend this place enough. Go. You won't regret it, but your taste buds won't be prepared for the mind-blowing food and coffee they're going to experience. Super Nice Coffee and Bakery--never leave NYC. The people need you.
google avatar

Anderson D.

Yelp
Not too many places on the UWS for good pastries or donuts so I was excited to try this place. The donuts here were fine, but way overpriced, even considering inflation. Nice staff though! I would recommend going uptown to Salento for pastries or maybe Donut Plant or Donut Pub for donuts.
google avatar

Gabriela l.

Yelp
Great friendly service. Great coffee and amazing pastries! The staff is always so kind and outgoing. They love giving my dogs treats. The donuts are so so good and the guava cheese pastry is to die for
google avatar

Tipay C.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood coffee/donut spot. Everyone is always so friendly and their coffee is amazing. My favorite donut is the maple donut and I can have it everyday if I could. Their breakfast sandwiches are so worth it.
