This place does not deserve one star.
Walked in around 6:45PM on a Friday night. It is a seat yourself establishment. The decor, it's about what you expect for a Mexican restaurant, it seemed outdated, but clean. We waited awhile for someone to bring us a menu and take our drinks, one they did, chips and salsa were followed. The chips were cheap store-bought chips, the salsa tasted exactly like it would taste if you took a can of Mexican stewed tomatoes and pureed them. It had little flavor and My Partner and I had to doctor it up with salt and the lime from our drinks. When our order was taken, there were only three other tables, so not very busy. They took our order, I ordered the chicken "crispy" taco's, my partner ordered the Mexican dinner plate. I ordered a side of cilantro and onions to add flavor to the salsa.
Part of my Partners plate came out about 20 minutes later. We were told that the rest would be out shortly. Another 25 minutes later, we were sitting and just waiting. We almost walked out, I wish we did. Finally they brought our food and it was cold, it looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp as a crust formed around the beans and cheese.
The taco shells were thin and not made in house. They were stale as well. The chicken pieces were huge and not chopped up(parents watch out, this is a choking hazard for small children). The lettuce, onions, tomatoes, guacamole were not fresh and barely present on plate. The white onions were completely translucent and slimy, I refused to even try them. The cheese was shredded velveeta, and tasted awful. The chicken filling, was chicken thighs and completely dry and bland.
Rice was dry and flavorless, beans tasted fine, with the exception of the texture from being under a lamp for so long. The Tamale was dry, flavor was not bad. The enchilada was unremarkable and small. The food was so bad, I had to stop eating it. I just wanted to leave.
This place is usually packed for breakfast and I cannot speak on that, it's kinda hard to mess up scrambled eggs. However, dinner was a complete disgusting disaster. My only guess as to why this restaurant is still open, is because the large population of white people, and the fact the the other Mexican food Restaurant, El Jimador was too full (which was why we are at this place tonight). If you like Authentic Mexican food, save yourself the trouble.
Be aware as well they charge 3% to use a credit card.
