Superhet Coffee - Review - Harlem - New York - The Infatuation

"We once spent around $16 on a pour-over at this tiny coffee counter, and it was one of the best cups of coffee we’ve ever had—like sipping on the essence of a dozen different berries, all lightly dipped in chocolate. Surrounded by posters of metal bands and the blasting of distorted guitars, the guy who brews these delicate drinks is a devoted metalhead, who named his shop after aradio receiver. He uses beans from Brooklyn roastery Sey, among other specialty coffee brands, and makes his own blends too, but you don’t need to splurge to experience this place—even the regular drip coffee is excellent. Take a cup on a stroll through Morningside Park." - Sonal Shah

Where can I start? First off, hands-down Superhet has best coffee in Harlem. These guys really pay attention to the work that they do — focused on specific beans, roasts, small-scale producers, etc. — and really make an awesome cup of joe. Even their basic drip coffee is fantastic. Great vibes, great pet lovers, and Manny the owner is an extremely nice guy. I literally go there every day with my dogs — with Manny usually greeting them at the door with treats! And seriously - who doesn’t want to support a locally run heavy metal coffee shop?

This is the best coffee shop in NYC hands down. Manuel Amaro has over 20 years of experience in the coffee business and his shop is proof of it. He sources some of the best coffee beans in the world and knows how to extract the flavor out of them. His unique drinks like the coquito latte and tonic water with espresso and spicy lime are something I’ve never seen before. Come here if you’re about coffee and want an actual good cup of it.

Manny makes *fantastic* cappuccinos (both regular and decaf). I'm not a heavy metal person, but I always come here anyway because the coffee is so good. (I don't drink pour overs, but I'm sure they're great as well.) And he always has a homemade treat for my dog! :)

Manny is the consummate professional, he prepares the best pour overs in the city in my opinion. His coffee choices are exceptional and I am always excited to see what is on offer. Everyone should experience his coffee prowess.

Great coffee nook. I’m not a huge fan of metal, which is blaring from the cafe, but I’m a huge fan of unique, authentic spaces that are owned and operated by creative entrepreneurs. This is a gem of a place, and my latte was excellent.

I come here bc the coffee/cappuccinos are genuinely very good and the owner takes his job seriously in making you a quality drink as quickly as possible. The coffee/drinks taste a lot better than Double Dutch nearby (no hate to them but it’s true). If you’re looking for a chatty barista, the owner is not going to be that person. I think he used to be in a metal band and then opened the coffee shop, because really interesting band posters line the walls. The store plays metal music at a reasonable volume, never too loud to be uncomfortable. They have non dairy milk options too

The matcha here is absolutely divine – smooth, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. The barista nailed it! Cozy vibe, great service. Will be back for sure!

If you're a serious coffee lover, Superhet is a must. Consistently excellent service, a wicked soundtrack, and an exceptional cup of joe. My favorite way to start the day!
