A California Grocery Store Selling Boba, Sushi, and Tamales Opens in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"A California-based grocery chain opened its first store outside of California at 1955 North Nellis Boulevard near East Lake Mead and North Nellis Boulevards. The market carries standard grocery items plus a large section of Mexican snacks and ingredients, an in-store bakery producing pan dulce and tres leches cake, and a prepared foods area offering six varieties of tamales, sushi, and rotisserie chicken. A beverage counter sells aguas frescas and horchata (with optional boba), and a cart offers a hot dog-and-drink combo for $1.99. The store is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m." - Janna Karel

The selections at this store are amazing but the only downside to this store is all at checkout. The cashiers look at you like you're the weird one if u don't speak Spanish and sometimes wont even speak at all except to everyone around them but the customer. Plus I don't like how you have to bag your own things but I can live with that. I just hate being looked at like I have a fly on my face thru this whole store.

Great place! Very clean and friendly. Has a good food place in the rear where they cook it for you. OMG! Very authentic Mexican food. I love 😘💕 it! Found a place to eat when I don't feel like cooking. Taco Tuesdays are my favorite

This is a hispanic grocery store. I love shopping here. Great produce, meat counter, fresh deli, homemade tortillas and salsas. They also have a ramen bar that I haven't tried yet. Looks delicious!

Google
Will NO longer be supporting this location As were checking in SELF checkout 4 women come staring over us as if we’re stealing (we shop here at least once a week) We ask for help because the system wasn’t recognizing that we already scanned it, and we already put it in the bag area 1 Women literally stood behind us at another register, acting like she was cleaning it or something. 1 woman eventually came over to help and literally started scanning our items for us 2 stood at the register by the exit, staring at us As were scanning our items, all four of them go over to the computer and cancel our transaction then tell us that we cannot scan more than 25 items at self check out At this point half of our groceries are scanned and bagged, and they make us carry it all to a register Black people If you don’t mind being treated like a thief, go enjoy shopping here

Never buying meat here again! I bought pork butt and ribs for pozole 2 nights ago and this morning I wake up ready to start prepping and my whole fridge smelled like death. It was all coming from the meat, it was grey and stinky. The label said sell by 12/12. Clearly they are using unsanitary and unsafe methods to process their meats. It’s not the first time this has happened, first time I gave them the benefit of doubt but not this time! Once La Bonita on Nellis opens I will never step foot into this supermarket again.

I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at Superior Grocers on 9/21/2025. As a 66-year-old disabled woman, I was doing my best to bag my own groceries when I realized there were no bags available. I reached behind me to grab some when the cashier named Gliydis B . came over, practically pushed me out of the way with the box of bags, and slammed down the box of bags without warning. I had asked her for permission to get the bags, but she rudely told me “no” and insisted she was putting more bags out. When I tried to explain what happened to a cashier supervisor named Eugenia , the situation only got worse. The cashier started yelling, claiming she didn’t even work for Superior Grocers. I asked the cashier supervisor Eugenia what was more important — the customers or the bags — and she told me, shockingly, that the bags were more important. Eugenia stated that there was nobody else higher than her who I could speak to right there and then that I had to come back the next day I had to come back home I mentioned to my daughter what had happened she took me back to the store that cashier had already left and cashier supervisor Eugenia had left already as well so I spoke to a nicer cashier supervisor didn’t get her name and then we spoke to Justin, which he is the one that gave us the paper so we could write down what had happened. This experience made me feel disrespected, humiliated, and completely disregarded as a customer. No one should be treated this way, especially those of us who already face challenges. I hope management takes this seriously and provides proper training in customer service and basic human decency. If I could give 0 stars I would have but it won’t let me .

When inflation started to affect us we began to look for ways to shop more carefully. My husband suggested that we try Superior Market after looking at their weekly circular. I LOVE SHOPPING THERE. The produce is EXCEPTIONAL. Fresh and beautifully displayed. The staff is extremely friendly. The prices are very reasonable. I now shop there several times a week. BRAVO SUPERIOR MARKET! You ARE!

Yelp
At the hot foods section Vincent helped us and went above and beyond! Not just for us but for others in line as well keeping things moving and kicking butt! Never thought I'd be giving a good review on prepped food at a grocery store but he did such a solid job I HAD TO. Amazing human being and outstanding worker

Yelp
Superior Grocers is one of the largest independently-owned grocery store chains in Southern California & California's Central Valley. They expanded and opened their first store in Nevada in the Las Vegas Valley in 2024. I stopped by to check out the store yesterday (1/4/2025), and here's what stood out: - GREAT FOOD AT A REASONABLE PRICE: I decided to grab dinner while in the store and ended up ordering posole from the hot bar (note: it's only available on the weekends), a 16 oz lime and chia seed aqua fresca, and I got three tamales from their tamale station. Those five items were $17.48, and I had enough food for multiple meals. I will not name drop other businesses, but smoothies at my gym are $15 and a salad and unsweetened tea at a fast casual restaurant that I frequent is $28. As a person who prioritizes supporting food businesses offering high-quality food at a reasonable price, I can confidently say Superior Grocers understood the assignment, and I will definitely be back! - THE STAFF'S DIVERSITY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY: This value is baked in for me both personally and professionally, and it's one of the key factors that determines how I interact with businesses. High marks for this location. - IMPRESSIVE PRODUCT SELECTION: I honestly felt like I was at a bustling, urban food market (e.g. Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia) given the wide selection of eye-catching food here, which included a bakery, produce section, hot bar, tamale station, deli, meat and seafood counters, chicharrones displays, etc. They even have a section of Creole and Cajun foods from the South where I found bags of pork cracklings from my home state. - GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE: All staff members who I encountered were warm and friendly. I perceived the store to be welcoming and enjoyed my brief shopping experience at Superior Grocers.

i love the variety of meats, produce, and bakery items this store has !! shout out to the kind asian man who was handing out free sushi samples, he was very generous and soft spoken.

Yelp
This place is a vibe. We took a road trip up here to check it out since a fellow foodie was raving about their bacon wrapped hot dog with a soda deal for $1.50? I can't remember but it was good. The bacon wrapped hot dog looks like it's been cooked and sitting out for an hour so I didn't get to try it but my husband said it was not good at all. I grabbed their Fresca cuz it was a cute bottle. Horchata was a 2/5 for me...definitely have had better. Pineapple was also watered down. The tamales - I grabbed one of each, including the strawberry, pineapple, beef, pork, cheese, and corn. I think their pork tamales were really good. Strawberry tasted a bit too sweet and funky for me with too many strawberry preserves or jam or something inside. The corn one was nice and sweet it tasted like cornbread. It's a nice spot to go chill and walk around. Definitely go walk around and get some of their tamales.

Yelp
The first thing you see when you enter this grocery store are fresh tortillas, chicharron and tamales all at discounted prices. Look further and you notice fresh juices, baked items and meats. Next to Asian Groceries, this market has almost anything you need for your next BBQ. Tostadas were on my mind so we picked up Carnitas (tasty but a little salty), fresh refried beans, lettuce, serranos, ready-made salsas and Mexicana Sour Crema. A pretty good variety of fresh hot tamales ($2.50 ea) rounded off the menu and my favorite Yucateco green habanero salsa punctuated the meal. Bulk items are numerous: Chiles, nuts, seeds, spices, beans, mixes so you know it's probably the freshest items, and lowest prices around in a single location. As Arnold S. says: "I'll be back".

Yelp
I use to go to the ones in Cali. Always fresh veggies, clean and very nice service. Take advantage of their sales.

Yelp
Superior Grocers is the best place to get tamales and pastries :) Overall, prices are affordable depending on what you are looking for. They have premade refrigerated food, a bakery, tamale bar, hot dogs, agua frescas & boba, sushi and a place to get ready made food. Employees are nice. Interior is clean. Parking is plentiful. I hope you decide to check them out :)

Yelp
I saw this grocery store on Tik tok and it was delicious. Has so much variety of foods. My favorite part was the horchata you can add boba it was such a great combination. It's definitely at more affordable priced than anywhere I live. The best part was customer service, all the workers were so nice and helpful.

Yelp
This place was a lot of fun, so many things to try. We came here because TikTok made us do it. The samples in the front were fabulous. Chicharon with guac, make sure you get the dried(packaged) one! I ended up buying some from the deli, it's not the same. We tried other things but nothing stood out too much. Inside is insanely nice. Perfectly stocked and in order. Bathrooms are not super clean though.

Yelp
Mood - Tamale Cart Do you love Tamales? Are you always on the hunt for them? I'll admit I used to have my scheduled Tamales delivery every Friday. I was lucky enough to have a grandma set up my delivery no matter what each week. Then she moved :( broke my food heart. Then I saw an IG post of this grocery with a tamale cart. Yes it was a grand opening. But I needed/ wanted/ desired to know if the hype was real. Upon entering it is a theme park of different stations and people. Bakery/ Restaurant area with actual seating/Agua Frescas with Boba/ that infamous Tamale Cart with 6 different flavors. Yes you read that correct 6 flavors, a meat selection, ample fruits and Vegetables, plus all the normal things a typical grocery would have. This area has needed a grocery for over 5 years now. And what a way to bring the life back to this side of town. But in my opinion it is needed and def worth it. And I may have been back 3x now for the Tamales. Don't judge me. Everything was very clean, shelves stocked. The staff in all areas were beyond hospitable and courteous. Would most def recommend- pricing is typical for life now a days. But I will say this. Look for the red tags if you like to save money. My red tag sales filled up my grocery cart for very reasonable. Location is lake mead and nellis - ample parking. Now this place gets congested real quick.

Yelp
I ordered pineapple and strawberry masa. Was making tamales for work, and when they were done... It was not sweet at all! Barely any difference. But under a blind test, you'd think there's no difference. Now I feel embarrassed to take this to my job. Having to make an excuse because I decided to take a chance on this place because it's new. Cardenas is perfect. Should of sticked with them like I always do.

Yelp
My new favorite grocery store. I absolutely loved coming to the grand opening of Superior Grocery. I checked out a few TikToks and was up and ready to check it out. The store it's huge and bright with so many great deals. I honestly went to check out the horchata with boba because I absolutely love the idea of putting boba in agua frescas, tbh. It was the best horchata I've had in a while. I grabbed some pre packed rice, beans, queso fresco, sushi, pickled carrots, and aguachiles. I was so excited to check out every part of the store when I found my mom at the tamale bar, that's right you can grab tamales to go! The pork & beef ones were good but they were out of jalapeño & cheese so I'll try that one next time. BTW: the sushi is pretty bomb! There's also a hot dog cart, heck yes! My mom and I checked out the meat area & my mom blacked out and bought some of everything! Easter came early for her, I see. The prices were outstanding for quality cuts of meat, and it was constantly being restocked by the butcher. Since it is new, parking will be overwhelming so prepare yourself for that & if you want food there's a line that might be confusing ( I accidentally stood in that line while waiting for boba). Ambiance: 10/10 Experience: 9/10

Yelp
great place for food, nice cocina large selection, if theres a thing i would ask them is in the meat section, workers dont change gloves in between task, raw chicken to beef to pork same gloves it same with worker who packs the meat, it just nasty and makes the meat stinks. superior please have your work wash hand and change gloves constanly specially at the raw meat station it just good pratice, thank you

Yelp
How cool is this place? If I didn't have to drive all the way from one corner of the city to the other to get to it, I'd be there so much it would be bad for my health and my bank account. The store is great. The prices are reasonable and I bought a ridiculous amount of food from their deli for less than $50 for my wife and me. We got two full meals out of it. I loved my burrito, ceviche, posole, tamales, and agua fresca and my wife loved her tacos. Such a great spot. I'd love it if they did open one clopser to us. Everyone who helped us was super helpful and friendly, which I don't always feel like I'm getting at Smith's and Albertsons and we got a lot of great deals on groceries. We'll be back as often as we have time to drive the 45 minutes to get there

Yelp
This is a nice store with a good selection. If you come for the sales make sure you check the price on the package. Ribeyes on sale for $5.99. Several packages marked $7.99. My wife got some Red Crab Salad, on sale for $5 a pound. They try to say it was $6.99 and not on sale. It was tagged $5 in the deli and in the printed add for $5. But they fought to keep it $6.99. Finely a manger came over. She had no idea on how to price adjust. Watch out.

Yelp
Just stopped in to grab a few things bought some almonds, came home and opened it. It was half way eaten. Tried to give them a call to make a complaint, no answer, nor any way to leave a message.

Yelp
I grew up in Cali and this store used to be everything to me and my family. They got us thru the rough times. This place has any or everything that you didn't know you needed. I bought some delicious spicy fresh guacamole and 2 different kinds of hot salsa. Whew they didn't disappoint and the guacamole is the star of the show!!! I got some of those homemade chips and il that was my breakfast. The workers there are so pleasant and helpful. They didn't gravitate to a certain demographic and help anyone who needed it and I've never experienced that in Cali. The meat seems to be fresh and they were so helpful also. Can't wait to cook my tacos and pig out. Now the cashier needs to work on her customer service skills l. Never once spoke, have me a total and I had to look, and never even said thank you. I will be back cuz the good definitely outweighs the bad. Train your cashiers the way you train the other staff cuz they are amazing.

Yelp
We have shopped numerous times! Great customer service! Fried chicken is the bomb. Grocery price are great on Wed and Thurs specials! Flank steak 7:99 can't be beat. Shrimp 25 To 30 count $4.99 lb . Watermelon was not that good. Otherwise everything was delish.
google avatar

Virginia L.

Yelp
We arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday night and it was packed. There was a lot of people buying groceries and others were waiting in lines. Family atmosphere for sure, there was a lot of people with kiddos and grandparents. The lines were long for Boba and we quickly figured out the lines were for different things. They ran out of tacos so we ate hot dogs instead. Hot dog and a Jarrito were $1.99, it would have been great if they put mayonnaise on the hot dog but they did have mayo packets. We ordered an agua de Jamaica and a Tamarindo with boba and I ordered a pound of cooked carnitas since we were starving. The Afterwards we looked at meat prices, rib eye steak at $7.99! Will be going back for sure!

Yelp
¡ im tired of the butchers at the butcher shop always wanting to humiliate people for buying only two pounds; they admire themselves a lot."

Royce S.

Yelp
We have shopped this location twice, once on the grand opening, and the second time on Thursday August 1, 2024 the location is not the best, shoppers are rude one ran into my back no harm no foul the guy realized he cant move me. the food was overpriced and not stocked, I stood in line in front of obnoxious uncontrolled children, we spent 174.00 which seemed like too much for the groceries we received. no customer service baggers, and the cashier was pressing buttons, so my wife's apple pay was not working, instead of helping my wife, she rolled her eyes, like we did not have any money, there we should have walked out and left the go backs to her, however on the third attempt our apple pay finally worked, however my irritation anger meter was past 10, we will not be shopping here again.

Bridget S.

Yelp
The mini agua Frescas are good but they are too sweet and they add food coloring and red 40 /: I really don't think you need to add anymore sugar to fruit drinks

Berenice F.

Yelp
Very rude customer service in bakery , as well as the workers that have to pull in the carts. Every-time I go it never fails to have rude customer service. I do not recommend this store until Customer service becomes better ,

Emma G.

Yelp
There are many discounted products, 4 cucumbers for only $0.99. 2 pounds of apples for only $0.99. It's really cheap, and sushi is very fresh and delicious. We really like it and we often visit places like it

Martha R.

Yelp
Buena comida súper fresca y sabor de casa! La fruta y verdura de muy buena calidad! Y tienen demasiados productos mexicanos en sus pasillos lo que no había encontrado en otras tiendas! Poco ocupado pero vale la pena regresar

Marjorie C.

Yelp
I got roasted Hatch Chilis! So fresh! The service was efficient and friendly. I will go back!!

Diego D.

Yelp
One of the best grocery store in the sunrise area. Everything tasted premium like their sushi rolls to the aguas frescas. So glad I live next to this grocery store. This is nothing like Albertsons or even smiths, it's way better.

Efrain P.

Yelp
Hot food area is terrible taste wise, plenty of employees working in the back but not many helping at the counter. Was going to get carnitas but upon seeing them in display I was immediately turned off very sad looking don't get me started on the dry looking carnudos. Ordered a "street dog" and chile relleno. Just plentiful bad , no condiments or napkins.Overall product selection not bad, a few items that other hispanic stores don't carry . Not worth driving across town to give them business

Dan F.

Yelp
A lot of the dairy products I purchased smelled rotten upon opening. Live only 5 min away so the drive home didn't cause it.
