Supernormal - Review - Sylvan Park - Nashville - The Infatuation

"We’ll give you three reasons why you should high-tail it over to Supernormal, a new, cute fast food spot in Sylvan Park: the umami-packed burger, the kimchi-draped hot dog, and the cups of dreamy soft serve. The #1 Delicious patty is made of beef and pork and topped with XO mayo and lemongrass pickled vegetables. The sausage casing has a perfect pop and there’s a combo of bacon marmalade, cream cheese, and sriracha all doing a three-person tango in the bun. And the swirly soft serve, topped with Lucky Charms-like marshmallows, will make you feel like a kid just released on summer break all over again. Plus, you can eat all of this under gigantic umbrellas on a manicured turf lawn." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

This place is GASSSSSS!!!! The atmosphere is great with picnic tables on turf with great branding. The food was phenomenal with hot dogs, fries, and soft serve. Highly recommend getting the bacon marmalade on a dog. Staff was so helpful and patient with picking menu items to order!! Want to come back again and again if I didn’t live out of town!

Saw this place on a TikTok so wanted to try it out, great choice of items and low prices! The 1#Delicious Burger was just that, Delicious! The fries are very good too, would however recommend wet wipes!! The food was above par and a lot better than I expected, I will return. However please be mindful of fire ants on the tables and a LOT of flys!

I admit I visited because of the cute boxes. I tried the supernormal burger and am a big fan of the sauce and the mushrooms. They have shady seating and plenty of fans blowing to keep you cool. This place is in walking distance of a park with plenty of public parking but there is also street parking nearby. I will return to try some custard.

Awesome burgers and hot dogs. This place has such a great classic retro vibe, our kids loved the turf.

I don’t really think this is a place worth going out of your way for. We saw this place on TikTok and it had raving reviews, but we didn’t have that experience here. To start, we couldn’t even find the place, it’s tucked into a back alley with zero parking. We had to catty corner ourselves into the construction zone across the street. Then, when you go up to the window to order, the music is SO loud, you can’t even hear anything the cashier is saying. Food was genuinely weird tasting. I got the normal burger that has the mushrooms on it, and the mushrooms have the strangest flavor I’ve ever had on a burger. I had my partner try one and he was asking if it was bathed in soy sauce or something, it almost tasted like they pickled them then grilled them too. Super strange smoky, tangy, weird flavor- not a fan. Speaking of pickles, I asked them for extra extra pickles, and the cashier seemed really understanding of me wanting a TON of pickles, but then my burger had ONE on it 😭. I love pickles on my burger, and to give me one, when I asked for double extra is crazy. AND to top things off, when I took the burger out of the box it DUMPED greasy mushroom pickled soy sauce sludge juice all over me. My partner’s food was overcooked and I have never seen him not finish a meal because he’s the least picky person I know and he didn’t eat even half of his food here. He also got the ice cream and it was beyond a mess. Cup overflowing everywhere, no extra napkins to go along, it was so sticky and gross. I get that the entire seating is outside, but it came out of the window in that state. How do you feel confident in your service giving that out? The place was also infested with flies. I do understand, again, that it’s an outdoor restaurant, but there were easily 30-40 flies around us and you couldn’t get a bite of food in without being hounded and having flies land all over your food. The food here is just so not worth it, especially for cost. Two burgers, two fries, an ice cream and drink came out to $44… I do feel like that’s a really steep price especially for what you’re paying for. The drink ($5) was a watered down country time pink lemonade, and the fries (you have to order these separately from the burger, so an additional charge) were cold and way overly seasoned with a BBQ chip-esq flavor. I would not come back here. I agree with others that it’s a gimmicky type place where you come for insta photos and move on. Just try to not get their trash cans in the photos- because they give out trays to use and have no place to even return them so trash just piles up. I’d go somewhere else for a good burger.

I needed to get out of the house so I could focus on some course work and I knew SuperNormal was the spot to be! With its outdoor seating I knew id not feel like I was in a stuffy environment and the layer back feel of families coming and going through out the afternoon made me feel like I was just at home! I started with their Oolong Iced Tea and once I worked through some chapters I rewarded myself with a gluten free burger and fries! which were AMAZING! Kamryn who was working the day I was there told me about their spicy seasoning for their fries and boy are they heavenly! If you're thinking about swinging by for a quick bite or to hangout it's a really nice space and the food is killer!

Such a fun environment and perfect for kids! Perfect for summer nights. We walked on the trail around the golf course after dinner. The burger and soft serve itself were good but not the best burgers ever. Definitely overpriced. But I’d go back for the family-friendly vibes!

Such a great experience from this amazing new spot!! Amanda, Kamryn, Hannah- the entire team were fantastic! We went around 12:30PM on a Saturday, so it was busy. The atmosphere was lively, active, and fun! Service was speedy and we had such a wonderful personalized experience. Everyone went above and beyond! Great job 🙌🏼

Yelp
Supernormal... oh how you have jostled my frontal lobe. Are you super? Or are you normal? I cant quite tell. One thing I do know though, is that whatever you're trying to do, it works! A simple menu makes even my indecisive girlfriend know what she wants! And to me, thats hot Our feathers were happily ruffled upon receiving our supernormal burger, #1 delicious burger, and our spicy salted fries. Let's break them down. Supernormal Burger - Taking your classic American cheeseburger and adding a little psychedelic pixie dust to it! You guessed it, This girlie that loves in her van is shroom infused! But wait, I thought we were at a restaurant, not a craft fair where the boho shroom girl tries to sell me on her newest cross pollination hybrid breed! I dont exactly know what seasoning they put in here, but GOLLY did it satisfy my desire to be on the dark side of the moon. That, was a dang good burger. #1 Delicious - okay okay okay, its 2025... who said that burgers have to be just beef? This patty had Porky pig and Otis the cow in kaboodles with eachother. Equally yoked at a 50/50 blend, my taste buds were pleasantly thrown into a loop! Cuddling on top of that patty was a thai inspired slaw, underneath a blanket of basil leaves. (I think they were netflix and chilling, and I could taste the love that they were making.) Spicy salted fries- whatever they did to these, needs to be done to every fry. So where does that leave us? Sounds like a 5 star experience, but unfortunately I was craving moreeeeeee. They suffered a little bit from the nashville area tax, and I wanted a larger portion.

Yelp
We love this place -- as a gluten free individual it's really hard to find a solid burger with a delicious gluten free bun and gluten friendly fries. This spot checks all those boxes. Wonderful service - an owner who walks around and says hi to guests - and a super family friendly atmosphere in a pretty part of town. We love bringing family and friends here for a quick kid friendly meal. I'm not sure when people started holding burgers and fries up to such outlandish standards as to compare this to a fast food restaurant. It's delicious, quality food with a different twist.

Yelp
- overpriced - for a family-friendly restaurant there's no kids menu -the wakame seasoning on the fries so so unnecessary and kinda gross. The fries need something but not this The ice cream was great but otherwise skip this and head to Hugh Baby's

Yelp
My husband and I were craving burgers so we wanted to give this place a try after seeing the hype on social media and the mention of a James Beard Semifinalist behind the concept. Our experience was good, but not great. There's no front of house service team, only two tablets to order from the menu and they text you when the order is ready at the window. Though it's exciting to receive what looks like an adult happy meal box, we were disappointed in the amount of unneeded packaging. Plus with how windy it was today, everyones boxes were flying off the tables. They won't even be able to recycle the boxes. It just seemed like a lot of waste which probably also adds to the cost of the food. We thought the burgers were average and nothing to rave about. I was a fan of the shoestring French Fries, but no sauce was available to dip them in. The sauce situation was lacking on the burgers as well, but it was flavorful. I wouldn't say the fries were "extraordinarily seasoned" as the menu suggests, but they were hot and not too salty. The turf seating area includes picnic tables with umbrellas and lights for nighttime. It is a nice dog-friendly patio that I'm sure will be popular this summer especially since they sell soft-serve ice cream. The playlist was all 80's music if that's your jam. Free street parking.

Yelp
There's not much normal about this place to be honest. You order on an iPad, but there's not great signage to tell you this, so if you're like us, you'll just stand around confused for a few minutes as a line quickly forms. Once you order on the iPad, you wait for a text to get your order. Getting a table here during peak hours is like the hunger games, with groups snagging a table before ordering. There's a handful of covered picnic tables, but this place is not as big as you see on instagram. My friend and I had to sit in the middle of two other groups to avoid eating on the grass (which some people opted for since there were no seats available. The burger was great and I have no complaints! The fries... sucked. I have no idea why they would season their fries with seaweed and seemingly no salt. These fries smelled like a petting zoo and tasted like cardboard. I didn't try the soft serve, but it's a pretty large serving from what I saw.

Yelp
The Burger and fries were really good! So good I ordered a second one after I finished the first. Great spot in Sylvan Park near the golf course. Good vibes and a cool outdoor seating area. Service was great and came with a smile :)

Yelp
Went on a Tuesday night. Out door seating only, on turf with picnic tables. Great area. Kinda tucked away but that's okay. Ordered burger, fries, ice cream between myself and the two other people I was with. Burger was pretty solid as well as the ice cream. I enjoyed the marshmallows crunchiness with the soft serve. I wish the fries were a little crispier/fresher. I appreciated the seasoning on the fries however. Service was average. I would go back if I was in the area!

Yelp
Love! The food was fresh, flavorful, fast and fun. Such a clean, relaxed vibe. Great place for families to meet up- perfect for kids and dogs! Burgers, fries, hot dogs and and ice cream were all a hit with our crew. Unique but also simple in all the best ways, really a lovely addition to Nashville!

Yelp
I expected more. The burgers and fries didn't stack up. Ambiance and service was good.

Yelp
The environment is cool and the service is good but the food just isn't it. Maybe it's the burger I got but it wasn't fully cooked and tasted about the same as a McDonald's burger at 3x the price. The fries were good but it's literally just McDonald's fries with seasoning soooo nothing special. The name really checks out with everything about this place, super normal but at a premium price.

Brook D.

Yelp
I really wanted to try this new spot out but was so underwhelmed. For the amount we paid for two burgers, fries and drinks in a CAN, I expected to be super impressed, but the fries were super cold and the burger super salty. Took the fries back to only be handed more fries that were equally as cold. Perhaps we'll try it again, but will most likely wait until their new place opens up across the street. Fingers crossed we'll have a better experience.

Yelp
This place is SWEET. Really great burgers and fries with a lovely retro modern feel to the outdoor area and brand design. Great packaging made is super easy to box any leftovers. The soft serve is like a Wendy's frosty, so it's tasty if you like those. Our pup loved it too!

Yelp
What a great place this is! The food was delicious and the concept is wonderful! We will definitely be returning!!!

Yelp
Atmosphere is great. Staff is amazing. Food is good! Its like a picnic with friends and neighbors.

Yelp
I mean the name says it all. This food is extremely super normal. Truly, every single fast food chain is better when it comes to burgers. If I had to compare this to another burger, I'd say it tastes like sonic which isn't great. I had really high hopes for this place bc the atmosphere and branding are really cool. However, they just really missed the mark. Sure, they say they use high quality angus beef, but who cares when it tastes so poor. The meat was super bland, not juicy at all. Just a dry patty with barely any sauce. The fries were boring. I will say the hotdog surprised me when it turned up white in color. Definitely not normal, but the taste was again so mediocre. Don't waste your time!

Samantha A.

Yelp
I'm a fan! The soft serve was the best ice cream I've had in a while, and the hot dog was super flavorful. Would recommend stopping by if you're in the area on a nice day.

Christy N.

Yelp
Family friendly atmosphere, but the food left a lot to be desired, especially at the price

Lisa W.

Yelp
Love the concept and as a parent, goodness knows we need more family-friendly dining options in this city. The burgers are solid. The menu is very limited. The sauce is super spicy and no warning there. I've never met a fry I didn't like and I didn't like the ones here. It's also very overpriced for what it is. For a family of four we spent about $90 for burgers and fries. If you want to check it out, go grab some ice cream and call it a day.

Josh K.

Yelp
The burger was Ok although not really worth the price. The fries were just terrible imo though and I wouldn't go back there. Super-mediocre.
