Are These London Restaurants Worth The Hype?

"The Verdict: A great burger, but we can’t get on board with the queues or limited seating.  Specialising in the kind of crispy-edged smashburgers that resemble a granny's doily, Supernova is a tiny burger spot in Soho. The space is minimalist and straightforward, just like the three-item menu with hamburgers, fries, and sundaes. The burgers are well-seasoned, the fries are crispy, and the sundaes are pleasant enough. But we can't justify the (sometimes 50-minute) wait times. Plus, seating is limited to a few counter spots, where you’ll likely be jostled by the constant flow of people." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley

The Best Smashburgers In London

"Usually we don't like to think about our granny's linen while eating, but this smashpatty was as lacy as one of her doilies. The edges of Supernova's burgers are perfectly thin and extra crispy. The tangy, creamy burger sauce and gooey slice of American cheese are a must for keeping things moist. But we can't justify the—sometimes 50-minute—wait for food at this tiny, hyped burger spot in Soho. Plus, only the lucky few get one of the precious counter spots. But even then, the incessant flow of people inside means it's barely preferable to walking around the streets with your food." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

London’s New Restaurant Openings - London - The Infatuation

"Turns out the phrase “if you build it, they will come” is about smashburgers. Supernova is a takeaway spot in Soho with stripped-back, almost spaceship-like interiors. The minimalist design echoes the straightforward menu—classic cheeseburger (with or without house sauce), fries, and sundaes. We recently checked out Supernova. Read our first thoughts here." - Team Infatuation

Supernova - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"Specialising in the kind of crispy-edged smashburgers that resemble a granny's doily, Supernova is a tiny burger spot in Soho. Staff wearing merch-ready t-shirts work with precision to flip patties and serve the constant stream of customers eager to get their hands on a coveted takeaway bag. The space is minimalist, stripped-back, and straightforward, just like the three-item menu with hamburgers, fries, and sundaes. The burgers are tasty, with a tangy sauce; the fries are crispy and well-seasoned; and the sundaes are pleasant enough. But we can't justify the (sometimes 50-minute) wait times. Plus, the seating is limited to just a few precious counter spots. You’d be lucky to get one and even if they are free, the incessant flow of people inside means it's barely preferable to walking around Soho with your food. It’s a great burger, but we’d only return if we didn’t have to queue for it. photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat" - Sinéad Cranna

Mediocre smash burger. I ordered the House Cheeseburger (£9). Patties by themselves lack flavour despite being sprinkled with salt & pepper while being cooked. Flavour came from house sauce & cheese. Like an earlier review, bit into hard bits in the beef mix. Buns were thin & limp. Clean place though. Simple menu: 2 burgers to choose from. No meal deals. Cashless payment only

Loved this spot! When it comes to food I’m a purist - don’t need complicated stuff. Good ingredients, good taste, good cooking! This burger hits many spot(s) they use the classic potato bun and the smash burger with the caramelised edges and pickles provides simplicity but effective powerful results! If you’re around the area or not - make sure you check it out!

House cheese burger and french fries were super delicious and fresh. Classic cheese burger was average beacuze of the mustard. Chocolate sundae was tasty.

One of the best smash burgers I’ve had in London. Super juicy patties with crispy edges, great sauce, and soft buns. Fries were solid too. The menu’s super simple, but they nail it. Bit of a wait and not much seating, but totally worth it. Will be back for sure!

There is only two choices of smash burgers on the menu, both are good but I preferred the house cheeseburger. Fries are skinny french fries style, they are salted to perfection and very fresh. It can get busy so be prepared to queue. Overall, a very very good smash burger and I definitely recommend

I don’t usually like leaving a bad review but reviews are reviews…after all the hype about this burger place, I went in to try it. Fair to say, it’s probably the worst burger I’ve had in my life. Mainly it’s the meat, full of fatty hard bits that appear with every bite. Their patties are not well grounded, you get hard pieces of fat or whatever that is in every bite, it’s horrible. The meat should be smooth, melt in your mouth, especially that it’s so thinly smashed. They need to improve their meat quality maxxxx. Everything else was ok, the staff was polite and professional, they gave me a refund coz I didn’t even finish it. Burger 1/10, not recommended.

I ordered the house burger with chips and had an ice tea. The good part of having a small menu is that you can decide quickly what you want with no other option. The server was incredibly polite and greeted us with a smile and took our orders with speed, which was nice since it was starting to get busy. The Ice tea was very nice, however for the price it seems too steep and small of an amount. The burger was ok, the meat tasted nice but it wasn’t anything ‘wow’, paying £9 was too much for it and around the corner was the street market which would of gotten you more flavours and a better deal. The chips were just standard.

BEST SMASHIEST SMASHY SMASHBURGER IN LONDON <3 a small menu but do not be tricked! the options are both good, just depending if you are in the mood for a special something, or a classic ketchupy cheeseburger. you would be happy with either though. the meat is soft and playfully crispy on the edges. the bun is like a pillow, and tastes like genuine bread! :) the cheese is melty, not overly strong. house sauce is intriguing and mayonnaise-y, good balance of salty, sweet, tangy. pickles galore which i ADORE. the fries were okay tbh, too skinny but not crispy enough, and definitely needed more salt. im glad they had infinite ketchup and mustard on the counter to pair :) i think the lemonade is a bit overrated, it tasted like the lemons were a bit old or something :/. but it has potential, because it’s the ideal level of sour. I hope to be returning soon!!!!! <3
