Where to Find Fantastic Filipino Food Around D.C. | Eater DC

"A September pop-up between Filipino chef Paolo Dungca and local chain Supreme Barbeque was so popular, it’s now here to stay for the foreseeable future. Served exclusively out of Supreme’s Annandale, Virginia location, the collaboration calls for pork ribs tocino, smoked chicken insal with acharra and chili-vinegar, and cassava cornbread with macapuno butter. Supreme Barbeque owner Jeremy Canlas has experience combining Asian flavors with American barbecue at its dual D.C. locale, which serves 16-hour smoked brisket alongside brewed-to-order teas from Auntea Boba." - Pat Padua

We ordered the smoked wings, pulled pork, and brisket. The pulled pork arrived mixed with BBQ sauce, it was alright but tasted like any pulled pork produced variety found in supermarkets. On the other hand, the brisket was good, juicy and well seasoned. I'd definitely order it again. Regarding the smoked wings, I couldn't detect any smokiness, and they appeared to be fried. I know that frying can often overpower the smoky flavor from experience and this might be what was happening here. We also ordered sides of coleslaw and fries. The fries were crispy and seasoned with old bay, but the coleslaw tasted stale, like it was sitting too long in the refrigerator. We paid about $47 dollars including the drinks, plenty of parking at the location.

Camille gave great recommendations on menu options, I’m a certified chef so I’m tough on grilled and smoked meats, brisket seasoned and smoked very well, pork ribs smoked perfectly, falling off the bone not tough at all, great sauces! Overall great bbq, sides could use a little work

Google
first of all, I was recommend to the supreme barbecue by my friend. She loves it, but I had a bad experience. I was with my mom. mom ordered the ribs and coleslaw, which the ribs was red roar and nasty barbecue sauce was disgusting too, the coleslaw was a bowl of mayonnaise with no slaw the sweet potatoes was all sugar & cinnamon, nasty jerk chicken was old meat, I would never ever go back there again. My experience was utterly ridiculous $35.00 down the drain, I don't recommend this place to anyone

With no visible waiting line, my bf and I stood at the register only to be ignored for several minutes by the pink hair girl. No greeting or acknowledgement as we waited to have our order taken (it seemed as if she purposefully tried not to even look at us). My bf said we “need assistance” and she ignored him! With s higher volume, I finely asked “excuse me, is there anyone here that will help us”? I let bf give the order, as I was irritated and didn’t want to patronize this place anymore… I really want to speak with mgmt or give the pink hair girl a lesson on how to to give customer service. #1- Acknowledge your visitors.

This is a cute little casual food restaurant. They have about 8 - 10 stools to sit inside, but the setup seems to be for you to pickup your food and leave. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but there may be outdoor seating. We tried their brisket which was cooked perfectly and tastes amazing! Unfortunately, that was the only thing that did. The macaroni and cheese was disgusting and so were the sweet potatoes. If you are used to African-American style cooking, I would not recommend! The boba however, was also great! We will definitely come back for the meat and boba! They also offer some Filipino options that we will likely try when we return. Also, I want to mention that the staff are very friendly and very helpful! You guys have a nice group of people working back there!

Google
I traditionally order ribs. Out of ribs and decided on jerk chicken. I’ve tasted more flavorful seasoning at other establishments. I ordered potato salad with my meal. Potato salad seemed runny. Greens were standout!

I am a OTR driver. I order BBQ once or twice every week. this was excellent, first time eating here. Ribs Great smoke taste tender and the brisket was "supreme". I will order here again when I'm in this area

This meal may actually be the worse I have ever had. I got the fried fish and the potato salad. It was so bad I had to just toss it. Zero seasoning on the fish and it was fried so hard (I did not request that) that most parts were too hard to even eat. The potato salad was horrible. Way too much relish and was so liquidy I thought it was coleslaw when I first opened. I have had better from Giant. Hubby got a pulled pork sandwich and it was decent but not at all worth the 5 min drive to pickup. Will not be back.

Yelp
This place is located in a large strip mall complex near the Navy Federal Credit Union. There is tons of parking available. It is co-located with a tea shop called Anteaboba. There is limited bar seating along the walls to sit and wait or eat your food. The staff there was friendly, but I will admit that my interaction with them was limited. They serve assorted barbecue including pulled pork, ribs, pulled chicken, smoked chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, yams, brisket, fish, corn, BBQ beans, and green beans. I got the smoked wing combo with a side of collard greens and a side of candied yams. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and it was ok. The yams were heavy on cinnamon flavor, which drowned out the regular taste. The greens were good. The wings were ok. I got them in hot sauce they just did not taste as I expected. They did not have much flavor and were not as firm as I like. I will say that the sides came in larger containers than I am use to at other similar barbecue restaurants. I had high hopes for this place, but the food did not really deliver. I hope that it wa sjust an off day and am willing to try this place again.

Yelp
The drinks are fire. The boba is very soft, though... almost like boba that's sat in a drink overnight. The snacks (Shanghai lumpia) are sooooo good, reminding me of the trays my Tita used to get from the local Filipino catering spot for family events. The other food is fine. Fried fish was really good. Brisket was really tender. Mac and cheese was disgusting. Greens were gross and noticeably DIRTY and dirty-tasting. The service here... my god. It is soooo bad. It gets worse every time I go. My order is constantly messed up and every time I go to order, I'm made to feel like I'm bothering them. Lol

Yelp
The ribs at Supreme never disappoint. They are always super tender and flavorful. However, one point of contention is their bbq sauce. Bluntly put, it is quite possibly the worst bbq sauce I have ever tasted. I really hope that they will take some time and develop another sauce. It is such a waste to use that sauce on those ribs. Please take a survey of your customers. Every one I know that comes here goes home and uses their own sauce. A different sauce would make your ribs next level

Yelp
Me and bae wanted to try a new spot so we looked up food spots around us. We came here. We got the food to go and everything was really good. The Mac and cheese was the only thing that could have been better. It needed some more seasoning and baking for my liking. The jerk was spicy and good. The bbq beans were top notch flavorful. The collard greens were good. Will definitely go back and try the boboa drinks as well.

Yelp
This was my first time here. I went for the boba because I'm a boba junkie. I was surprise at how delicious this boba was. This space is very clean and when I walked in I was greeted with a smile. While here I witnessed a lot of people coming in for their food so that made me want to come back and order food next time.

Yelp
Supreme BBQ + AunteaBoba is a new addition to The Landing in Clinton. Supreme BBQ: My group tried several meats and sides. The favs are the sandwiches...we tried pulled chicken and pulled pork. Both were flavorful. Your choice of barbecue sauce comes on the side, so you can use as much or as little as you would like. The brisket was tender and there were good reviews for the smoked chocken and ribs. For sides, the fries pair great with the sandwiches. For the other meats, the mac and cheese was good. The collard greens were okay, while the fam wasn't really into the yams. There are other sides to choose from, so you'll have your pick. You can also sandwiches and meat a la carte in which case no sides necessary! Aunteaboba: For boba, if you're new to this it's milk tea with tapioca pearls. There are so many flavors and toppings you can try. They also have fruit tea, which you can add things like lychee and other toppings. There's variety! Food was prepared quickly and on time for online ordering. Service was also nice and accommodating of some light prep requests. Overall, a great addition to The Landing that will do well.

Yelp
So i like this place but I give 3 stars simply because the food is not consistent AT ALL! One day you'll go everything be great and fresh then the next 2 times you go the food isnt good at all. I ordered a half rack of ribs yesterday and the picture is what I got smh! I ate a piece before taking the picture but this shouldnt have been what I got at all! I asked for ribs not rib tips or whatever you want to call this. As you can tell from the picture the ribs were tough. The mac is meh. But the potato salad is good!

Terri M.

Yelp
I ordered half pound Italian sausage, collard greens, and green beans. Bland bland bland! The sausage was over cooked and very salty. Green beans were frozen and recooked several times, and the worst was the collard greens.... Ewww the greens had NO salt NO pepper nothing! They were bitter and hard. So disappointed. Don't waste your time.

Yelp
Decided to give them another try.. and up their rating based on trying other options. While I had their greens, I thought they were pretty good, especially after adding hot sauce and vinegar. The smoked wings and brisket were good choices and pretty tasty. So if you're in the area, give them a try and let me know what you think?

Cierra B.

Yelp
02/01/25 Really disappointed greens have no flavor . The BBQ beans don't taste like they have any sweetness to them and the brisket is so flavorless. They stated they don't have a meal for the brisket and that all meals only come with 1 side .... Food is definitely not worth it .

Yelp
This is my 3rd day in a row (for boba). Do I really need to say more? Lol I did have the bbq the first night. Ribs & brisket. We ate it for dinner AND lunch the next day. Can't find this kind of bbq in FL! It's very different. It's like a dry rub, but not? Hard to explain. But definitely delicious. 3 days in a row of their boba drinks. The halo halo smoothie is the best (we get extra flan)! If you're not familiar, it's a shaved ice Filipino dessert that requires mixing before you eat - but with a smoothie, it's already mixed & you just drink away!!! So easy, no mess, no mixing, just flat out delicious! Tried other flavors as well, such as the buko pandan (another drink derived from Filipino dessert), various fruit teas with popping boba, and mango marble (is this a secret menu drink?? It's not on the menu!) Will definitely miss this place when I go back home and can't wait to return!

Yelp
Best BBQ in the DMV! Ribs are consistently juicy, tender, moist, and flavorful. This spot also serves boba for dessert. Customer service was great. Young employee Cristian deserves a pay raise!

Larry M.

Yelp
They trying but this ain't hitting on too much. 3 Ribs & a side $19 a bit high imo. Taste like they've been cooked in an electronic smoker, doesn't give BBQ vibes. Just food. Customer service on point tho. The baked beans wasn't baked beaning. Definitely a miss for my taste buds.

Yelp
This is a review of two drinks that should have been easy to make great. My wife and I visited this place for the first time. We got a Strawberry & Mango smoothie and a Lychee milk tea with lychee poppers. The Strawberry & Mango smoothie was so thick that I changed my straw to the largest one they had. It still couldn't be sucked through, so I used the shovel end of the straw to scoop some out for a taste. It had a modest flavor of mango and hardly any strawberry. It was moderately sweet with a slightly tangy yogurt flavor. The ice was throughly blended. I had to wait for it to melt some before the straw could be used. This was okay as a mango smoothie, but that's not what I ordered. The Lychee milk tea with lychee poppers was weak in lychee flavor. The milk and black tea flavors were prominent. It was moderately sweet. The poppers were sweet and citrusy with a light lychee flavor. Poppers are tiny spheres made of starch and seaweed extract that are filled with a flavored liquid. They pop in your mouth easily when pressed on. This drink is not good if you want lychee flavor. As a regular milk tea, it was fine. The poppers cost extra. It's not worth it! They have hot teas, iced teas, slush, fruit teas, bobas, creme foams , and jellies. They use brewed teas, not powders. The shop was very clean. The service was friendly, helpful, and quick. Important caveat, we were the only people there. It took 10 minutes for the drinks. I don't recommend this place for smoothies or flavored milk teas. Reviews from months ago said the boba teas were good. Seems that something changed for the worse. Maybe some of the other drinks might be good. They have a Supreme Barbecue carryout here, so that might be worth a try!

Yelp
Great jerk chicken. Ribs were tasty and gynormos Service is good. Lite ambiance. Bubble tea spot too. Would give 5 star but prices could be better.

Yelp
Didn't try the BBQ side, smelt really good. My reviews on the auntea side. I had ordered cookies and cream tea from them yesterday and got sick. I had barely drank a quarter of it but already felt ill. On top of being sick the tea barely had tea in it and was like watered down milk.

Yelp
Decided to stop here for lunch. I ordered the smoked hot wings and mac and cheese. Everything was good.

Kimber V.

Yelp
Well, I can't say my experience here was bad. I also can't say it was good. Let's get started. I ordered the 5 smoked wings meal for $10.50. It comes with a side and a bottle of water. False advertising, what I got was 5 party wings. They had a great taste but one of the pieces had feathers on it. Yuck!! For my side, I ordered bbq beans. These were interesting. I'm not sure what type of beans they were. Definitely not what I was expecting, but not in a good way. I also ordered the 1/4 rack of ribs meal with a side of collard greens. The 3 ribs I received were seasoned well and tasty. The greens were okay but had too many stems in it. The bbq sauce that I got on the side was too thin for my preference. And it wasn't even a vinegar based sauce. So, I don't get why it was so loose. The service was fair and the ambiance was that of a take out bbq spot. I will go back to try the boba tea. Not sure about trying the bbq again.

Yelp
I like this place! The staff is incredibly kind and hardworking. Bbq has been solid every time I've come in-- reliable and tasty! And I love their boba. This place has gotten busier and busier as people have realized it's open. It's a go-to place for me to grab lunch when I don't bring it. Definitely worth trying it if you're on the fence :)

Yelp
The ribs were good The pulled pork was amazing Quick service Very clean and nicely decorated

Michael R.

Yelp
I'm glad a legit bbq joint opened up next to us! Even better their boba tea is on point! We don't have those in the area.

Yelp
Bad brisket bites I though it was a brisket sliced sandwich maybe it was weighed or cut to fit in the box

Yelp
BBQ was amazing. Meat was tender and fell off the bone. I'm looking forward to ordering again.

Yelp
I already made a little TikTok video as part of this review but my wife told me to go and check this place out and I am so happy I did I went in completely blind not knowing what I was walking into and I walked out with the 1pound JUICY BRISKET option and a mango drink, The worker that was behind the register completely helped me out, had a good convo with him and I regret I didn't get his name, but I will definitely get his name next time I go back because this place is a barbecue place you go back to multiple times, it is not a one and done type of place it is a "I need to go back there and taste everything on the menu! " because it is that good, I been looking for a good barbecue place in Clinton and after having this spot, and that's just one thing on the menu, it atm is at the top of my list for getting brisket and boba, and if you haven't tried boba tea , do yourself a favor and try something different, you won't regret it and if you are weary of choosing something on your own, converse and ask the staff what they like and they can probably help you pick a good option.

Tina H.

Yelp
Tried this spot twice, ordered the Tiger Stripe and the boba was hard both times. I don't live close so going back wasn't worth the gas. Won't be going again.

Syd P.

Yelp
I order fried whiting and mac n cheese. The fried whiting was great not too salty and not too bland. The mac and cheese was disappointing especially since it was what I was looking forward to the most, it was too greasy and cheesey I do know some people like it like that so I would still try it if I were you. I didn't like that it only came with one side as well I think I'd rather have smaller portions but two sides because with my experience the one side I got I didn't like even though the main entree was great.

Jye P.

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time, and I just had to add a review since I did spend 55.39. First the meats. The smoked wings where so dry it seemed like they had been in the smoker all day. I cut my gums trying to chew them. The young guy that took my order told me that the brisket came in slices, and he even showed me the container that it would come in, but when I arrived home, it was in a container that you would put an order of French fries, and it was diced up like they thought I was going to make a sandwich out of it, and that was very disappointing since it was one of the most expensive items. The catfish had a very, very nasty strong fishy after taste, but it is fish, but I've tasted better. The French fries were dry and cold. The coleslaw was in milky soup, and that really threw me off. I can see a little bit of juices, but not like a soup. The mac & cheese was very cheesy, but no flavor at all, no salt & pepper, no seasoning salt nothing. The only half decent item was the BBQ Beans, they had a good flavor, but they were just too sweet for my taste. I might go back, but I will try something totally different from what I bought the first time.
