My husband bought me the Thai-themed date night cooking class as a Christmas gift, and we attended the 7:00 PM class on 01/03/2026. I was really looking forward to it, but we were both disappointed.
When we arrived, much of the cooking had already been done. The peanut sauce, Thai iced tea, coconut lime sorbet, and chicken marinade were already prepared, even though these items were listed in the class description and made it seem like we would be making them ourselves.
The class included very little hands-on cooking. The instructor quickly showed us how to cut vegetables into sticks. Four people shared the task of cutting a small amount of bell peppers, carrots, and cucumbers, which we wrapped in rice paper. For the main dish, all we did was cook pre-marinated chicken in oil. We did not learn any new skills or use any ingredients that people don’t already have at home.
The instructor spoke very little and mostly read ingredients from a paper while giving basic cutting instructions. He did not explain much about Thai food, ingredients, or cooking tips. He did, however, repeatedly talk about the store’s 10% discount and encouraged us to buy items.
The instructor was not engaging or informative, so the class was neither fun nor educational. At the end of the night, the food was just okay and not enough to fill us up. Because the class was expensive, we should not have had to buy more food afterward.
