I had an excellent experience in this cooking class! The instruction was clear, hands-on, and incredibly enjoyable from start to finish. Chef Dom was fantastic—knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about teaching. Chef Dom made complex techniques feel approachable and took the time to ensure everyone felt confident and included. I left the class not only with new skills but also with a deeper appreciation for the craft. Highly recommend! Chef Dom is a treasure, and everyone in the McLean area needs to stop by and say hi! I drove 700 miles round-trip for this experience and cannot wait till Sur La Table comes back to Charlotte, NC, and with Chef Dom at the helm!

Chef Dom is the bomb! She made the experience fun, engaging, and was very insightful. Fresh pasta at home was our class of choice, since neither of us had ever made pasta from scratch. We also made dessert to go with it that was fairly basic, but required finesse, and was tasty. We learned a lot and felt like we were well on our way to becoming masters chefs in no time...Among thoroughly enjoying our time together there, along with the food at the end! Ate our pasta so fast I forgot to get a photo. 10/10 experience and will absolutely be going back.

Such a fun experience! Took a French pastry class with my family and loved it. Chef Jess was amazing and the pastries came out delicious. Highly recommend!

Took a cooking class with Chef Dom and had an absolute blast! We made Pad Thai and Panang Curry, and both dishes turned out amazing. Chef Dom was the best! Super fun, engaging, and made the class really interactive. She explained everything clearly and kept the energy high the whole time. Highly recommend if you're looking for a delicious, hands-on experience!

Google
My partner and I took this cooking class with Chef Jon to celebrate our anniversary, and it was such a memorable and intimate experience. Chef Jon was not only an incredible chef, but also a great teacher. He shared so many helpful tips throughout the evening and made sure everyone felt included and engaged. We cooked seared scallops, a creamy risotto, and finished with a rich chocolate soufflé—every dish turned out delicious! It was so satisfying to create a restaurant-quality meal from scratch with Chef Jon’s guidance. The only thing that could’ve made the night even better would have been if wine or drinks were included to pair with the food, but that’s a small detail in an otherwise amazing experience. Highly recommend this class for couples, food lovers, or anyone looking to do something fun and meaningful. We left full, happy, and inspired to cook more together at home!

Google
Sur la table provided me a lively and modern experience on how to cook korean cuisine. Their Chef also gave us plenty of tools, instructions, and chances to taste-test our food! I recommend looking into the various in-person classes purchased on their online website. The gift shop appears to have a variety of kitchen utensils and seasonings for home as well!

Chef Dom is hands down the most amazing, sweetest, and caring person. Her personality is truly a gift from God himself and her skills are unmatched. There wasn’t a second of this class that I did not enjoy. She kept everyone engaged, excited, and beyond happy! I will be back to visit her and hopefully extend offers to her to pull her out of the store and do different events! I can’t say enough how much I thoroughly enjoyed her and my time there.

Google
Loved this class! Both instructors were fabulous! (We had chef Dom and John) We took our class at Tysons Sur La Table. They answered all of ours questions, taught us new techniques and gave kind critiques. The food came out great. Will be using the recipes at home!

Yelp
Awesome! I took a sushi cooking class with my mom. The chef was very informative and guided the class through the steps. My sushi did fall apart, but that's because it was my first time making it. No matter, because it was just too fun and delicious! I would take a class here again :)

Yelp
We took Sur la Table's Valentine's cooking class, doing it as a family (all adults) and it was amazing! Chef Mary Beth was engaging, friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable! They offer different menus for different classes, our class consisted of: - Arugala salad with butternut squash, hazelnuts, pomegranate seeds and dressed with an amazing shallot vinegarette. Topped with burrata. - NY Strip with fresh herb butter on top - Lobster risotto - Vanilla ice cream with dark chocolate nibs + fresh made whipped cream with a touch of cinnamon + flambe of bananas Each course was fun to make and we did it all in about an hour and a half and then spent the last half hour pigging out.... Yummm! Highly recommend doing this, even if you already know a lot about cooking, you can always pick up on something new.

Yelp
We had a great time and an awesome instructor. We would take another class there. Try it out!

Yelp
Gave them 4 knives for sharpening. Was told it would take up to (!) 48 hours and that I'd get a call when ready. No call ever came. I returned after exactly 48 hours - to the minute, based on the timestamp they printed on the intake ticket. I was told, "It's not end of day yet." So apparently, 48 hours doesn't mean 48 hours - it means whenever they feel like it. Then why print a precise drop-off time if you're going to ignore it? That's not policy; that's cover for disorganization. No apology. No accountability. No concept of customer service. Won't be back; and I'd suggest others think twice.

Yelp
Sur La Table is the fun, younger brother of Williams Sonoma. They carry many of the same things with the addition of fun, tchcotke like gifts. For the holiday season they had tons of very helpful, very friendly people milling around which made purchasing really easy, even though I two little kids who wanted to touch EVERYTHING on my hip. The exact opposite experience from when I was at Williams-Sonoma last week where everyone ignored me as I scaled their shelves to pick up a drink mix for a party. They offer cooking classes here which makes for a fun date night experience -- I thought they only did this at their Arlington location so it is nice to know there is another option closer to me!

Yelp
Everything was great the baking experience and the cupcakes turned out amazing they were super helpful! And I recommend if you are in Virginia looking for an activity with family or just yourself you definitely go here it's amazing!

Yelp
My husband and I paid $178 for a "date night" cooking class and shortly prior to class we received an email notifying us we would be working "closely" with TEAMS OF FOUR. I don't know what kind of dates most ppl enjoy sharing one cooking station with strangers, but it was not only uncomfortably close, the food was substandard. Bc it was a class, the food was inconsistently prepared and the chefs took the food from our stations and combined it "family style" so you couldn't even eat your own preparation. There were substitutions for the meat and onions (we were sold shallots and prime rib--what we got were red onions and NY strip) and four filets to share among 13 ppl. I was hoping the company would send a follow up review request but since they didn't I decided to post here. Not sure they really cared about getting feedback. It was an expensive disappointment.

Yelp
We went to this location on Sunday to submit knives for sharpening and to buy a couple of aprons. While there, a blond heavyset woman watched us, but offered no assistance. We bought our aprons, checked-in our knives, and were on our way. Fast forward to Monday and our girls have a list of cooking items and tada, we are back at this location. My kids are walking around ticking and tying things off their list and then they decide we need a new knife. An amazing young gentleman who spoke to us shortly after we entered the store renters the conversation to assist us. He asks about our needs, shows us a few knives, and proceeds to demonstrate some knife safety tips for our girls. As he is assisting us, we notice that the knives we'd left the prior day for sharpening, were on the knife counter. In an effort to prevent buying duplicate knives we proceed to take our pre-submitted pack, all the while explaining the intent. He totally understood and was accommodating. At some point during our knife assessment a blond heavyset woman comes over, offering no assistance, but sizes us up and takes our pre-submitted knives and moves them closer to the register. My husband, perplexed by her rude and unprofessional behavior, went over and retrieved the knives. The amazing salesman working with us helped us unsheathe the knives and determined that one of the knives under consideration was one existing in our collection. With his help we avoided buying two of the exact same knives. There are some awesome people at this store, but the assistant manager, Danielle Rhodes, was rude, condescending, and unprofessional. Even after a follow up conversation to discuss the matter she was curt, defensive, dismissive, and abrasive. In spite of the assist manager's ugliness and cruelty, we were able to come home and use the amazing knife we bought to prep dinner for tomorrow.

Yelp
Visiting Galleria yesterday we popped into Sur La Table and looked at the many Thanksgiving special plates and dishes well laid out. There were lots of other items fir the house and my relatives picked up a few. Nice to see Thanksgiving crackers. First time I have seen those.

Yelp
Two and a half hours standing on a concrete floor (no seating at all) with 15 other people in a space that should accommodate half that amount. My back and knees still ache. A chef who was knowledgeable but nowhere near as funny or entertaining as she thought she was. A lot of the time was spent watching other people prep or cook as there were four prep positions (4 people each) and two cooking positions (8 each). "Dinner " was eaten standing up at the prep stations. Finally got a glass of water to drink (there was nothing else available). The food was pretty good and I picked up one or two tips but I would have rather gone to Chili's or Fridays and gotten a beer and burger than have gone through this.

Yelp
Cancelled summer cooking camp for kids 2 before the start. Never provided information the there was a risk the camp could be cancelled. No alternative offered. Terrible situation as it's impossible for us as parent to arrange an alternative camp.

Yelp
I recently attended a cooking class with my daughter offered at Sur La Table and it was a lot of fun and informative.

Yelp
After a being a dedicated fan of their competitor for many years, I was thrilled when Sur La Table came to town! I have shopped at this location since they moved into the Galleria about ten years ago and I continue to go back repeatedly because of their amazing customer service and selection! I feel valued when I enter because they personally greet each person coming through their doors. There are enough staff on the floor to actually help indecisive customers such as myself! The staff are all very knowledgeable about their products. I return to this store because of its personal nature which Williams Sonoma (in this mall) lost years ago. They are rude and pretentious. If you are looking for a specific item or if you just love to browse, Sur La Table is the place! I always find neat things that I have never seen before. Even if you are just browsing, they still help you without any pressure!

Yelp
The store was nicely laid out and very neat. They definitely beat the prices from William Sonoma! A difference in a wine vacuum, for example, was $12 to $29. One lady greeted us immediately and told us of the sales for the day. It was great. However the lady running the register was clearly annoyed with our mere presence, which only grew when my mom asked her to repeat herself because its hard with masks and the glass to hear clearly. It made us really uncomfortable and I don't think I'll be back unless its really necessary. While the prices are better, the customer service is better at the William Sonoma at the other end of the mall.

Yelp
I came to this store because I heard about it from a friend who's been taking cooking classes from them. I was assisted by a nice lady named Taura. I asked questions about cooking classes and she tried finding the most suitable ones for me according to my preference. She found me three good ones and I'll double check with my friends in NY. The classes I like are all in September. They also ship the products to out of state. Cool! I checked my favorite section, EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and some dressings that I plan to get from Sur La Table in NY. They have quite fantastic products to choose from such as knives, pots and pans, wooden boards, etc. Loved this place. I'd definitely revisit to explore more items.

Yelp
I've been here 3x now. Each time my experience was great. Everyone is super helpful and knowledgeable. I wish it was one closer to me.

Yelp
Looking around, I am thinking about what knife set I should get now that I am working a P.F Chang's. I know I have time to buy my knives so I will look around for a while. I decided to check out Sur La Table to see what they had. I checked out the knife collection with the help of Russell and he showed me what my options were. I think the price is too step right now. I may go with different option for now. Russell was polite and knowledgeable about the different type of knives. Thank you for your help.

Yelp
My husband sums up this Sur La Table this way --- They moved from a place that was small and cluttered to a place that is large and cluttered. I like Sur La Table but can't give it 5 stars due to the cluttered and illogical layout. When they moved to their new location, I thought that it would be easier to navigate and find things. Sadly, this is not so. It is still somewhat stressful to visit especially when it is busy. I find myself dodging groups of people standing in the aisles. When that happens, I worry about knocking something over and breaking it. Yet we still go because we find things we need---even things we never thought we needed until we spotted them there. For example, we found a collander that is partly made of silicon that is collapsible thus easily fits in the dishwasher. Once we were in Dean and DeLuca in DC and discovered a great olive oil. D&D had some out for sampling and we loved the taste. It's Tiburtini olive oil and is very smooth and mild. It works equally well with salads and for cooking. Well...we discovered that Sur La Table also sells it---and it was $5 cheaper than D&D! On our most recent visit to Sur La Table, I went to get some more olive oil---and it was on the very top shelf. I'm short and used to getting creative when it comes to getting things on the top shelf, but this was ridiculous! The only people who could have reached it would have had to be as tall as Shaq! The sales clerks keep step stools at the register for things like this. Yet...one of our best finds at Sur La Table is the wok "shovels". Well...actually, they're spatulas but as you can see from my photo, they look like shovels. My husband, who loves to stir-fry as long as I do all the prep work, has been looking for quite sometime for the perfect wok cooking implements. He came across the wok "shovels" at Sur La Table's old location. Yet...he only bought one despite my urging to buy the other one. When the new store opened, he couldn't find the replacement. However, on the second visit, he struck gold. Which brings me to the problem of an illogical layout. We looked where the woks were kept but no "shovels". Instead, they were thrown together with other spatulas. The sales clerks, for the most part, are very knowledgeable about the stock. Once I took my daughter to a different Sur La Table because she wanted to buy a good whisk. We found the whisks and were amazed at how many shapes and sizes they come in! A clerk came by and explained to us what each and every whisk was meant to be used for which was a tremendous help. Yet...one time at the McLean store, there was a clerk near the olive oils telling someone all about the various varieties. When he engaged me in conversation, I asked him what other olive oils are similar to Tiburtini---he couldn't give me a straight answer. So...go knowing that the place is cluttered and illogically laid out. Plus, be prepared --- you may end up buying something that you never thought you needed --- until you spotted it!

Yelp
Came here looking to purchase a wok but the staff swayed me to try their Jura high end coffee machine. Off course being an expresso lover i fell for it. I got my eyes on that S80 Jura machine now. Oh we also bough a crepe spreader, one of the staff there said they usually run out of those but they get shipments of them pretty often. The staff was great, it felt like I was talking to people who knew me and really cared about my in store experience. Loved this place! We will come back

Yelp
I was shopping for a new nonstick pan. At Macy's, there was no staff in the entire housewares department. At Bloomingdale's, a nice lady shared her personal recommendation from home usage. At Sur La Table, the salesgirl told me all about the construction qualities, the products used in the coating, gave suggestions on what pan worked better at different heat levels, and more. She was a total wealth of expertise and a true subject matter expert in cookware. You cannot get that sort of high caliber expertise and customer service at a department store. I'm really impressed by Sur La Table and I highly recommend this shop when shopping for cooking wares.

Yelp
I was so excited yesterday to go in Sur La Table to shop for some necessities needed for this weekends baking. Unfortunately that didn't go as planned due to the extremely poor (if any) customer service provided. Upon entering I noticed the store was not crowded at all so I grabbed a basket as I figure its not crowded I can get everything and move freely , so I started on my way . I started on the left side and planned to work my way over to the rear right where the baking supplies are . Now while I'm making my way I notice I hadn't been greeted -acknowledged - nor asked if I needed assistance . I have been in this store numerous times recently and noticed the lack of service but tried to make an acceptable excuse like ..maybe its the holiday. the store is crowded, the staff may be new ... The reason is my first ever visit here went well I was greeted , asked if I need help, got a coffee demo , and an invite to classes (forgot the guys name but I haven't seen him lately ) Anyway I went on to grab items need for baking . I approach the baking supplies and I am literally right beside two workers who are talking at this point I have been in the store about 15mins. I start to get irritated when I see another worker come and peep at me and then leave . So I said well maybe I need to "act like I need help'. I attempted to reach high items (NO ONE HELPED) . I looked puzzled as I sorted through cake pans (NO ONE HELPED) stood and compared spatulas (NO ONE HELPED) went to the more open area near the bar items (NO ONE HELPED). I went back to the baking section where I actually did need advice again workers just walking by making eye contact !( NO ONE HELPED). Finally I decided I had enough I started putting items back one by one that I googled on my phone and could find elsewhere . I refused to patronize this store any more than what I absolutely could not find elsewhere. Once I reached the counter the cashier (same one who was peeping ) says did you find everything okay? I gave a slight nod.. she rings the items and ask for my card and id .. I hand it over in silence. Next she says "receipt in the bag" again a slight nod . I notice her face change to a concerned /confused look as it should . I did that just to give her an example of how loud silence speaks. So the next time you choose not to greet , help, acknowledge , or assist a customer it wont go un-noticed. She didn't say Thank You or Come Again absolutely no attempt to make a loyal customer . Granted I could have asked for helped , told them I needed help, but when you are hired and assigned to provide customer service you are supposed to at least attempt to do just that ! I got in line with just a few items and there was only 1 person in front of me, the holidays are over , 3 to 4 staff insight and its 1:00pm on a weekday ..SO even more validation that store was being terribly ran!!. I doubt I will be returning to this store. It is convenient to my work area but I will just take the ride out to Wheaton in the morning to get better service. Actually I will not be returning! I don't wish bad on the store or the business but , I do hope management will reiterate to the staff the importance of customer service to every customer . FYI- 2 stars is only for the gentleman who helped me here on my first visit a few months ago.

Yelp
I am a fan of Sur La Table and love this location like the other local locations. The staff here is well versed with the products they sell and are ready and willing to provide more information on any product that I am considering to purchase. Their customer service is far above their peer and that makes the buying experience even more sweeter :) The only drawback with SLT is their limited selection of stuff, which is not an issue if you know what your are looking for.

Yelp
I have to echo the 2 previous reviews as I am obsessed with nice kitchen tools and gadgets. I've been in a few Sur La Table's in the area and around the country on my travels and I have to say I got some excellent service at this one. The friendly guy helping us didn't offer up his name (something I always wait for the salesperson to offer) but he was knowledgeable and helpful but not pushy. He was able to speak intelligently to all the small items as well as the large ones I had questions about. Definitely makes is a welcome place to spend hundreds of dollars on kitchen tools! Will be back here before I go to Williams and Sonoma.

Yelp
First time ever in the store. Worked work Brandon who was extremely knowledgeable and gave a tour of the store. Learned a lot about dutch ovens, muffin pans, and even recycled place settings. I'll have to come back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
I ALWAYS pass by Sur la Table without any REAL agenda to buy anything and ALWAYS wind up coming out with something. Sink drain mat, caramel/marshmallow treat. This time, I wound up coming out with a Shun Elite Deba knife. WHAT the WHAT? At least I can comfort myself in knowing that the knife was an excellent purchase as I was able to test it out before buying. On a cutting block. With a potato. (They have veggies in the back awaiting potential knife buyers to test to their heart's delight!) Store has a fun selection of kitchen items-gadgets, cookware, cutlery, bakeware, tabletop, etc, etc, etc. William Sonoma? Nice-- but a little too sterile compared to Sur. Staff is fairly knowledgeable on the products being sold.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Overall: Packed to the brim with fun and useful cooking tools! Selection: In addition to the store brand, which is actually pretty darn good, there are the usual higher-end options like Vitamix, Wusthof, Cuisinart, Le Creuset etc. You can probably find the items for a few dollars cheaper online somewhere, but sometimes I need instant gratification! Service: The majority of the employees I've encountered are helpful and knowledgeable. It's clear they love cooking and that helps a LOT. Location: Psst! It's a stones throw from a Williams Sonoma so if this location doesn't have something, you're close to another option!
google avatar

Colleen M.

Yelp
Sur La Table is filled with all the kitchen things you didn't know you needed, but even cuter. While there is a Williams Sonoma on the other end of Galleria, Sur La Table is better suited to whimsical shopping. It has a good sense of humor about the kitchen. They also often have free sample coffee that is fantastic. I'm a baker myself and I find that, among cooking stores in the DC area, Sur La Table reliably has the best selection of baking tools and toys. This is where I buy my parchment paper rounds, frosting tips, novelty baking pans, special sugars, etc. This location is well stocked and the staff has always been friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Let me just say, I have an obsession with kitchen gadgets. You name it, I've played with it and coveted it. This place has it all. Margarita machine made by the Parrothead king, Jimmy Buffet? Yup, they got it and sell it for $300. I am secretly spying on the Global knife set. Japanese blades...mmmm, so beautiful. Be sure to check out some of the sales this place offers. The in-store specials can make those out of reach products slightly less out of reach.

MeetMeInDC ..

Yelp
Giving this place 2 stars for location and variety. Losing 3 stars due to the lukewarm and indifferent customer service. I walked in and was greeted - so far, so good. I then proceeded to ask about the InstaPots, as I wanted to know what sizes they came in. My question was answered to the point, but the sales associate didn't offer to show me where they were in the store or provide any additional information at all. My attention then turned to the mixers. I was curious on a particular mixer and wanted to know what it could and couldn't do. I found another associate who wasn't much better. As I asked more questions he just kept nodding his head, with very little eye contact, going "uh-huh" and then finally pulled the box open and showed me there was an instructional manual. WTF? Passive aggressive much? I ended up buying the mixer, despite the disinterested staff who were quick in checking me out and sending me on my way. I do have plans to buy an InstaPot in the near future, but it definitely won't be from here.

Yelp
Much like Williams-Sonoma, Sur La Table is another of my foodie fetish stores. I love how Sur La Table stores always are cramped, maxing out each square foot of floor space with shelves packed to the rafters with every food appliance and gadget, seemingly taking its store layout cues from the original Sur La Table store in Seattle's Pike Place Market. Unfortunately, the Galleria SLT location bears resemblance in name only. The store looked dated and appeared to have a lot of unused floor space. More damning, it seemed to lack the variety, selection, and volume of inventory that I've found in other locations like the one in Pentagon Row or in Pike Place Market. While it may not be closing, it gave off the impression that this location may be on the verge of closing soon. Frankly, I was disappointed that it paled so greatly in comparison to the Williams-Sonoma in the Galleria. I'll stick to the Pentagon Row location for my Sur La Table fix.
google avatar

Tony R.

Yelp
Always have great kitchen items, the staff at Pentagon and Tysons are always extremely helpful, even when busy. Depending on where I am I either go to Surlatable or Williams-Sonoma. They equally have the same kinds of sales, Items, clearance bins, lol. The cookware from surlatble for every day is extremely well made. totally love them

Yelp
I took an interest in upscale espresso machines and Eric the clerk was happy to demonstrate how to make a "Flat White", which is a frothy milk coffee drink which I had never heard of before. I also enquired about a drink dispenser without plastic fixtures for making Kumbucha. Although the store did not have anything in stock, he offered some great suggestion. I was impressed by the breadth of knowledge, helpfulness and courtesy given the customer. I heartily recommend this store for upscale culinary sundries.

Ginger S.

Yelp
I had a fun day of trying out knives and ended up purchasing a Wusthof Classic Ikon set for myself. I had originally planned on giving them out as a gift but decided these were just too nice. I haven't had a real set of knives other than the super cheap sets for $20 I purchased at Macy's many years ago after college. Sur La Table has everything that I need and on top of that, great customer service. A friendly associate by the name of Russell helped me out and allowed me to try a few on hand. Not once did he pressure me to buy anything and I don't know if they even get paid commission but he took his time and even helped me go through their website for an additional knife that didn't come with the set. He also had some knowledge of the knives themselves. I hope to be back and purchase additional items for my ever expanding kitchen set now that I have a lot more discretionary income; hopefully Russell will be there to help me out again.

Angie D.

Yelp
This is my equivalent of a toy store. I love browsing all of the cool kitchen accessories, lusting after the gorgeous cappuccino machines, seeing who has sold out via their cookware lines, etc. This store is gorgeous, with large wire shelving units holding everything, which makes it look clean and attractive. My favorite section is the bakeware, because it's interesting to see how much people will spend on sprinkles shaped like the latest holiday symbol/cartoon.

Michele T.

Yelp
Not a great experience! From the second I walked in I received no help although there were plenty of associates around and barely any customers. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a young adult or other circumstances but instead of asking me if they could help one of the store associates proceeded to stare and follow me around the store in an uncomfortable matter. Probably not a good selling technique to treat your customer as thieves....just saying. I did not get what I came for. Next time I will go to target.

Yelp
this is a pretty good slt. the staff is very friendly and they usually have whatever I need in stock. it is conveniently located in the mall on the lower level. I find I like to go there and pass the time if I am ever with someone who is on a clothes shopping mission.

Yelp
Great people working here, and as at every Sur La Table store, tons of things to look at. My only quibble is that it is way at the end of the mall from where I usually park, but at least it's a bit bigger than its old location. I also want to add a shout-out to SLT's customer service number. These people are terrific and the woman I spoke with (Amanda) knew everything about the knife I was enquiring about. Just an incredible shopping experience all around.

Yelp
The cutlery selection there are very tempting. I am not a professional cook and I know I don't really need that many gadgets to cook delicious meal, but I still keep going back to Sur La Table to find new way to spend money. Reason: the staff seem to share the same passion for cooking than just selling me stuff.
