These Paris Restaurants Prove That There's Something New-School In an Old-School City | Bon Appétit

"Originally the seafood offshoot of the seminal natural-wine bar Le Verre Volé—still a must— young Belgian-Ugandan chef Olive Davoux bought the space last year to showcase her talents." - ByChristine Muhlke

If you like good seafood, small but intimate space & best service, nothing comes close to Comptoir Sur Mer in Paris. Mr Ibrahim on cooking & Ms Christine on the floor, were the best. Excellent experience. It's small space, so you have to wait sometime for your table. All worth the experience. Enjoy.

The food, the service and the ambience were all perfect. It’s a more intimate dining experience, so make reservations but you will not be disappointed. Some of the freshest and best tasting seafood of my life. I was literally battling a stomach bug and risked it just because it smelled so good.

Probably one of the best fish restaurants in Paris. The restaurant is really cosy, good selection of organic wines and food. Staff really helpful and the chefs were just amazing. They serve the food one dish at the time so you have plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere and food. Everything was cooked to perfection. I recommend this place and I will come back for sure!

Lovely seafood restaurant near Republique. The oysters and sea urchin were excellent. The wine was good but leans mostly on the natural / orange style for those hoping for more traditional styles.

Some of the freshest seafood in Paris ! (maybe even a bit too much for my taste) If you’re craving some seafood in its raw form that’s the perfect place to go. All the dishes were made so the taste stays true to the ingredients.

My wife and I had an amazing meal at Sur Mer; it was the best one during our two week trip to France! The restaurant and atmosphere were cozy and comfortable, our server was really friendly and helpful. The menu was in French and English, featuring numerous seafood and fish small plates. We had oysters to start that were sublime, followed by four dishes. The stand outs were the lobster in shrimp bisque and monkfish ceviche. House wine was delicious; the whole meal was very good value for money. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

I ordered the 6xOysters for 2 times as they were so nice, creamy and tasty. They came with the seafood sauce, which was similar taste with Thai seafood sauce. Apart from oysters, other menus were nice! Restaurant is a bit small, you may need to make a reservation!

Just a lovely little place with superb seafood and a delicious selection of wines, or at least the couple of bottles of champagne were so good. The service was also great! We will return when next time in Paris!

Yelp
Called and made a same-day res and had an awesome meal here. Super lowkey spot with limited seating, so plan accordingly. We sat at a great outdoor table, drank natural wines and otherwise ordered: + Oysters + Cooked sea snails + Grilled razor clams + Grey muller ceviche + Pan fried hake + Amberjack sashimi The clams were my favorite, followed by the ceviche and sea snails (that was my first time trying sea snails and they were awesome). Great service and awesome vibe.

Yelp
I went to the restaurant in 2019, but I did not finish the comments at that time though I prepared some photos. I hope my comments are not too late. It's a very good restaurant and the location is very close to my hotel, I hope I can come back soon and enjoy the food there.

Yelp
If you like your seafood so fresh you can almost hear the ocean with every bite and you happen to be in Paris, run (don't dawdle) to Belgo-Ugandan chef Olive Davoux's little gem of a restaurant Sur Mer specializing in sustainable fish and seafood. She will dazzle you! For a more in depth review (and to practice your French), see the piece on Sur Mer in Le Fooding online.

Yelp
Matt H review was right on point! We spent my birthday at Sur Mer in Paris and it was amazing! The seafood was ocean fresh and deliciously flavored. We had a table out in front of the small restaurant. The chef prepared an unbelievable appetizer course flavored with a heavenly melange of Ugandan/ Parisienne spiced plates of the tastiest oysters ever. The main dishes were equally well-prepared and beautifully presented. We are excited to hear more amazing reviews about this talented Chef-owner. She is beautiful, talented and focused on the diner's wonderful experience. Her heart is in Her food!! Elevated taste! Thank you Chef!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, fresh ingredients and vibrant dishes, creative small plates. The Chef/Owner spoke with us for quite a while and I am completely impressed. Best resto in the 10th.

Yelp
Sur Mer offers a solely seafood menu broken into three parts - oysters, crustaceans, and fish. The crustaceans and fish are served as small plates. You can order individual dishes or order a menu of three items for 32 euros (+3 euro for certain dishes). The crustacean dishes included cockles, mussels, raw sea urchin, and the fish dishes included a ceviche of mackerel, cuttlefish, a rockfish soup, and an entire sole. We went with the menu & so for our party of 4 had 12 dishes. This included two portions of some - two mussels, two soles, two ceviches of mackerel, etc. They say they are small plates but we thought they were more like medium sized. It was too much food for us - even being 4 people. If we could do it again, we would have ordered nine & maybe added a few plates if we were still hungry. The service was okay. We had to ask several times for water & certain items. The wine list is quite expensive. Their only bottle of Sauvignon was $54. Thus, the range of wines was not very broad. It was a good meal, but not my favorite in Paris.
