Sura Indian Bistro - Review - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Sura is a Center City Indian restaurant where you can get chicken tikka benedict for brunch, lamb in spicy gravy for lunch, and a lamb shoulder with garlic naan for dinner. Or you can take it all to go when you wanna eat your weight in curry in peace. For date nights, they offer a five-course tasting menu that comes with two cocktails for $175. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

From the moment you step in, this restaurant wraps you in warmth and elegance. The ambient lighting, soft music, and thoughtfully curated decor create a space that feels both celebratory and serene. We ordered chicken 65 which was crisp and flavorful, the Malai kofta melts in your mouth, with layers of spice and aroma . Even garlic naan was soft and fresh! Portions are generous, presentation is refined, and flavors are deep, authentic, and unforgettable. Mango lassi was refreshing! The staff are welcoming and attentive .Food arrived pretty quickly. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just indulging in a flavorful escape, this place is more than a meal—it’s an experience. Highly Recommend!!

This place is so cute. The ambiance, vibes and service make for a good night out. Went here for dinner and ordered the vegetable pakora, samosa chaat and chicken 65 for appetizers. The samosa chaat was the star of the evening. It was so flavorful. I could have several servings. My friend said the chicken 65 was tasty. The vegetable pakoras needed help from the chutneys provided. For entrees I had the vegetable jalfrezi and my friend had the lamb chops. The vegetable jalfrezi came with rice, but the lamb chops didn’t come with anything. He did order a side of garlic naan which was good. The vegetable jalfrezi had good flavor. The lamb chops were actually lollipop, but were tender and flavorful. We also had the herb of life and endless summer for drinks. They were both refreshing. I would eat here again if in the area.

Well here's an honest review about sura Bistro. Overcharged, no sense of Taste and no packaging effort to customers money. Lemme start with a story where after a long day I decide to eat something good , I open the app , order some fresh biryani, some salan to add to the biryani and paid extra and was hoping that I would expecting something tasty since the price was so interesting for the food. I wait for the other , in all excitement ,I open the order , first of all they miss my tea which I ordered , nevertheless, I am still excited for the biryani , I open the package , disappointed by seeing it , I take a bite , no taste or even smell of biryani masala , looks like they just mixed some rice with gravy and slammed on my face. Def wouldnt recommend at all. I would rather pick vijaywada mess Indian cuisine over any this , normal prices , good taste , they provide raita and salan which is the true Hallmark of biryani , def worth the try there and no I am not promoting them , they really are good.

I was at the restaurant and the place seemed pretty disorganized. The hostess didn't have a smile on her face to start with. My drink wasn't served till the end but it was included in the bill. Had to tell the waitress and had it removed. Most importantly, if your chef doesn't know how to make Biryani, just don't have it on the menu. Biryani is an artistic dish. I come from Hyderabad and have spent enough time at Kolkata and Lucknow. So i know how the 3 types of Biryani taste. This biryani here has precut frozen vegetables. Total turn off. Zero effort, poor taste..

I joined one of Yelp private event at this restaurant. I definitely enjoyed my night. The staff were very friendly and professional. The restaurant was clean. The catering food was delicious! As I was leaving the building, I noticed a table ordered a skewer and a curry dish. That order look amazing to the point I want to order one to go! I am definitely coming back to try out their food on the menu. Also, the Rupee beer was pretty good. I normally just a sip or two with beer, but this mango wheat ale Rupee beer I actually almost finished that before heading off! I'm glad they gave me another one so I can take home and let my husband try that too. Nice relaxing atmosphere and glad to make some new friends!

The ambiance is probably one of its strongest points, the interior wall is just beautiful. The food is really good, rivaling any Indian food Philadelphia has to offer. The drinks are also quality. The spinach Chaat was properly crispy. The shrimp tikka salad was lightly dressed, just the way it should be. The vindaloo was proper. The only weak point is the serving size, it's on the small side but maybe that's a good thing. The service is excellent and very attentive. Overall I would certainly recommend without hesitation.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Sura. Having lived in the city for many years, I’ve been looking for the ideal Indian restaurant. It was superb. The gobi grill dish is outstanding. Dessert is amazing. The food is beautifully plated. The restaurant decor is exceptional — it’s beautifully designed and very inviting. The service was exceptional. All the staff is incredibly kind. Spice level is higher, which hits closer to home in the best way. Look forward to returning many more times in the future, and making Sura my go-to Indian place.
