Unfussy all-you-can-eat operation offering Korean BBQ & hot pot, plus desserts, beer & spirits.
"For many years, this Medford Korean spot has been known as a great bargain for Korean barbecue, featuring an all-you-can-eat, buffet-style feast, but the shabu-shabu is a must-try as well. The shabu-shabu menu adopts a similar format to the barbecue menu: Pick your broth, protein, and vegetables — and you have a 90-minute window to order. For those who live south of Boston, Sura has a second location in Johnston, Rhode Island, right outside Providence." - Valerie Li Stack
"This restaurant has pretty drastically different menus depending on whether you dine in or order from one of several third-party delivery platforms. Dine-in is focused on Korean barbecue and hot pot; delivery tends more toward other Korean dishes and popcorn chicken. (The mashiso chicken dish only available via Grubhub is a must.) The DoorDash menu offers a family meal for $70: Choose three meats (spicy chicken, spicy pork, chicken teriyaki, etc.) and also get three miso soups, three salads, three rices, six dumplings, a scallion pancake, and a side of kimchi." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal
"If I absolutely had to choose my single favorite dish of the year, at least so far, this one would probably come to mind first — the mashiso chicken from Sura BBQ in Medford Square. I will eat rice cakes in any and all contexts, particularly the spicy stir-fried Korean dish tteokbokki, but this is on another level: fried rice cakes and popcorn chicken in a sticky-sweet sauce with a hint of heat. It’s chewy, it’s crispy, it’s hot, it’s comforting. Pair this with a crisp, simple beer, a side of kimchi, and some late-night television. —Rachel Leah Blumenthal" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Terrence Doyle, Nathan Tavares, Karen Wilber
"For onsite dining, it’s an all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue spot... I’ve been craving Korean food, so Sura ultimately won out... Sticky, sweet, spicy, and crispy, this dish just landed on my list of local favorites. Sura’s scallion pancakes are killer, too." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal
"Recommended for spicy pork belly, prime brisket, and beef intestine." - Terrence Doyle
