"Between the coffee shop and bakery in the front and pita flying out of the ovens in the back, this giant Lebanese restaurant smells exactly how you wish your house did. It's useful for just about any dining situation. Come by yourself for a couple pastries in the mornings, or bring 10 people for a big group brunch or dinner. We usually go for dishes like charcoal-roasted beets, smoky baba ganoush, and the tender, slow-roasted lamb." - candis mclean, alison kessler

"Suraya is a good choice for basically any day or time, but there’s something especially nice about coming here in the morning. It could be the smell of chai and cardamom kouign-amann, or it could be the plant-filled boho space. Either way, this is one of our favorite brunch places in Fishtown. "With large fire pits, cabana-like seating, and plenty of tall trees and hanging lanterns, Suraya in Fishtown has one of the best patios in Philadelphia. And because of this, you’ll have to make a reservation before diving into a mezze plate full of things like baba ganoush and smooth hummus or a tender ribeye perfect for passing around the table. It’s a great place to bring a group of friends to pass around Lebanese-inspired mezze plates like baba ganoush, smoky eggplant, and puffy pita. Plus, Suraya also has one of the better brunches in the city (that’s also a $42 tasting menu).
