We did a private surfing lesson for my three daughters ages12/15/16. Dave and Ryan were fantastic. They had all three girls standing up and riding waves by the end of the lesson. Was the best day for us and the kids. I would recommend this to anyone. Amazing. 8/2025

Google
Surf and adventure co. Is amazing!! Great spot for local souvenirs, as well as rentals! We rented a foam surfboard for the day and the price was extremely reasonable! We were so happy with our experience renting from them and would do it again if we come back to the area! Highly recommend stopping by to support local!

We took a group of participants, adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, to a surf lesson with instructors Brian and Katie. We were beyond thrilled with their kindness and patience with our crew. Not only did they encourage our participants to learn and enjoy the surf but our staff too. Everyone involved had the best experience possible. 12/10 communication, pricing and delivery.

Absolutely wonderful business. They set up our tent everyday for two weeks watching the weather and everything. Rented our bikes here also. It was the absolute best service ever. Thank you so much! Plus the store and products they have are just incredible! We love it here.

We booked a private surf lesson for 3 people, Dave, Brian and Nick helped us. They had so much knowledge, so much patience and made the experience so much better than we imagined!! The water was extremely rough, but we felt safe and prepared even though none of the 3 of us had surfed before!! We went to the shop and made purchases twice, the people working there were also just as fabulous!! We have discussed our entire ride home when we can go back there just because of this business!! It was the highlight of our trip, thanks to all of you!! -André, April & Kristen!!

Google
Thank you Surf & Adventure Co. for providing us these bikes. They were absolutely FUN other than sore butt's, but we surely made the best memories. Overall, staff were super friendly, explained details that we may have missed and delivery/pickup were a such a breeze! Thank you again for everything!

Google
We had an incredible experience with all the staff we came in contact with. My young daughter and I did a group surf lesson with Andrew and RJ. Andrew was attentive to my daughter, even swimming back to shore to help her back out when she caught a wave. I appreciated that so much. Emily led a my husband and I on a Blue Pete's Tour. She was gregarious and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area. And be sure you check out the cool clothing and bathing suits at the surf shop! We will definitely be exploring other tours the next time we're in Sandbridge.

We did a kayak tour from Blue Petes and it was a wonderful experience. Our guide Gabri was professional and pleasant, with a great knowledge of the local area and wildlife. The trip was easy and peaceful, and I would recommend it for anyone regardless of your kayaking experience.

Yelp
They have the best surf instructors ever! They give a lot of help to people who are new to surfing. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our kayaking adventure with our guide Brian! We are novices and had our young kids with us, and it was the perfect experience! He gave us a brief run down on how to paddle and we set off. He went at our pace and was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and wildlife. We all had a blast!

Yelp
Came into Surf Adventure while driving over to Sandbridge to look for shells, wide variety of anything surf! During off season it seems they run a 30% off sale on soft-top boards. It was a perfect opportunity to pick up a soft top skim for the upcoming season for about $35 under retail price. Great surf shop with friendly staff

Yelp
Love this place! Great Surf/Skate apparel and gear. Surf camp is a must every year. The staff running the camp are some of the best in Virginia Beach. They even remembered my son name from last year. I see Surf & Adventures beach rental's all over Sandbridge. Must be doing something right. Bought this 8 ft soft top board last year. My son loves it. I always love stopping by the shop even if I don't need anything just to see what's new.

Yelp
Can here for some kayaking in the back bay. We had reservations for 9:30am-11:30am. Ample parking out back behind the front office. We were in a group with 8 people total and with a guide. Very easy to get in and out of the water, they have a special dock! We made reservations on a day that ended up being 95 and a heat warning. BRING WATER. I wish I would have had 2 water bottles. They can easily be stored on your kayak. The trip was a little harder than most of my previous kayak trips. There was no breeze for almost the entire trip, and because it's a bay (with some tributaries), there wasn't a current either. Made paddling more work. Our trip ended up being more like 3 hours. Our guide was nice...at least for the short time I could hear her. She mainly stayed at the very front of the group and never really let us catch up other than at the half way point. Personally, I didn't think there was much to look at here. I'm used to doing a lot of rivers, and the ocean...but there just wasn't much to appreciate aside from lots of tall grass on both sides. For that reason don't think I would kayak here again.

Yelp
Last weekend was our first time actually stopping and running a kayak from here. The staff is super friendly and helpful and I loved that the boat dock was right behind the building to where we could kayak round-trip. The appointment was in great condition and the views were peaceful and nice. We will definitely go back again and recommend this place to others

Yelp
Well organized enterprise that employees young and professional staffers. The kayak ride was different and it was beautiful. The pictures can tell more than I can ever describe. You will probably be there alone, except for a few water snakes.

Yelp
Excellent shop with some good rental equipment. Different types of bikes, boards and gear. Shop also has some nice surf wear and gifts. Staff was very kind.

Yelp
It was my kids first time surfing and they enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for such a positive experience and friendly staff. Caleb and Ella are already talking about coming back for surf camp next year!

Yelp
Love kayaking here! We go here twice in the summer for the past 3 years. It's located at Sandbridge. It's only $26 for a single kayak or might as well do a double kayak for for $28 (2 seaters). They give you a map before you head out so you don't get lost kayaking. They warn you about snakes too. And they are not lying about that! We saw one just once, but they honestly won't do anything. You would just need to pass them without bothering them. You go through A swampy area first, which takes Less than 10 minutes to pass by it if you keep paddling. We went this past June and the swampy part got really messy with branches everywhere! It was so hard to paddle around them. We definitely ran into them and trees. Then after the swamp part, you're in this shallow area with long grass. It's very calm and relaxing. Then after that it's the open bay. It's absolutely amazing. You can paddle as far as you want, but you have to get back after 5 hours. I would say it took us about 2-3 hours to the bay and back. We took many breaks and some relaxing moments just enjoying the view and breeze. Make sure to bring some snacks, sun screen, and water. But don't drink too much water or you'll need to go pee and there's no place to do that! Lol so use the bathroom before you go. Great place to kayak!

Yelp
Located just before Sandbridge Beach in Va. Beach is this wonderful surf shop that has rentals as well for beach equipment. They have the typical beach gear for sale like surfboards, skateboards, and beach attire. But we're here to rent a kayak. You can either rent a kayak to take with you or rent to launch from their dock behind their store. They have a marsh dock which eventually turns into the bay. You can go into the bay if you want and explore the area. It's a good nature kayak experience. You just have to be back at the dock by 5 pm so explore away. It's a pretty unknown spot to kayak from but it is definitely worth it. For a single kayak, it costs $27 and a double is $30. It's a reasonable price since we have all day to kayak. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Will continue to come here for kayaking adventures!

Yelp
Very convenient to Sandbridge with courteous, knowledgeable employees. We just needed beach chair rentals, and they made it quick and easy for decent pricing.

Yelp
These guys are great! I worked with Alex and Rob over a few days looking for a surfboard. We exchanged many emails with them helping me decide on which board was perfect for me. They sadly did not have the board in stock but they were very on top of communicating with their distributor to find the board I wanted. I would highly recommend them to anyone who's in search of a new board. They are very knowledgeable and love to talk surfboards. They are also very friendly and willing to help find the board that fits you best!

Yelp
This was so fun! Wyatt and Jen took care of us. They were friendly and funny. Taught us to paddle and help is if we went off course. We would recommend them anytime. We will be back! We will send all our friends and family that way too. We ate at Blue Pete's afterwards and oh man was that yummy!two thumbs up!!!

Yelp
This place rocks. I came in hoping to get a board so I could learn how to surf. Billy helped me pick out a board that worked for me both as a beginner and a very large guy. He also gave me a lot of really helpful pointers and some encouragement. Definitely helped me get out there with a bit more confidence and information. I wound up coming back to the shop a couple of times during my stay and got to meet a few other staff members (sadly, I don't recall their names) and every time I came in they asked how learning was going, offered me new tips for whatever aspect I was working on that day, and offered more encouragement. As far as I'm concerned, this is the only rental outfit in VA beach.

Yelp
We didn't know that you were supposed to make reservations 24 hours in advance but they were nice enough to squeeze us in to the morning tour. The weather was perfect and the tour guides were great. I'm by no means an experienced kayaker but I caught on pretty quickly and was easily able to keep up with the group. Lots of fun and we saw some fun wildlife. I can't wait to go again!!

Yelp
Dave and Josh save the day! I reserved a kayak for my friend and an SUP for me so we could go on the Cmmunity Paddle today 6.15.2014. The price was good ($27 each) and they provided shuttle service from Blue Pete's where we all parked to the starting point at the Shop. There were 4 guides for the group (30 people or so mostly kayaks). It was a gorgeous day and we were all in good spirits. My friend had a blast, and I managed to stay on my SUP! Sadly, about 1/4 of the way along the 3 mile route, another SUP paddler stepped on something sharp cut his foot and twisted his ankle when he slipped off his board. I was impressed by the calm, conscientious handling of the situation by our guides. They had a basic first aid kit, cleaned the wound, put on a bandage and one towed him back to the shop using a canoe. Later on I got a vicious cramp in the bottom of my right foot (it was my 3rd SUP experience and I had had an Achilles' tendon re-attachment surgery on that leg in 2008) so to the humiliation of my ego I was towed about 1/4 mile by the canoe guides Dave and Josh, who laughingly commanded that I sing as long as they had to pull me. Happily My cramp eased up and I was able to make it the final stretch on my own after a series of goofy camp songs and "What a Wonderful World." All in all a great experience but next time I will ask for a board with foam on top and a shape that glides better!

Yelp
Had a great time here. They got us out on the water really fast. Everyone from the store workers to the people down by the dock were very friendly. Friendly tip: they stop kayak rentals after 2pm so make sure you show up before.

Yelp
Our while family had a great time on a guided kayak tour through the nearby canals that lead to Back Bay. The whole staff was friendly and helpful, the tour was well-organized, and the kayaks were in great shape. The tour lasted just under three hours. Thanks to Sarah, Sam and Christian.

Yelp
Very friendly and helpful staff. Made reservation with Katy who was a sweetheart. And our Stand Up Paddleboard instructor, Jesse, was patient and willing to do whatever and go wherever we wanted. Three out of four paddles were not adjustable and so were not sized properly but no one was complaining. We chose the ocean over the bay because we wanted to see dolphins and although I know it's not in their control, see them we did! (Katy told us they're usually not around so late in the year but the blue fish were still running and that brings dolphins.) We saw at least a dozen and a few were no more than 20 feet from my board. When you see them from afar you want to be close and then when you're close, it's a bit frightening. We finished with trying our hand at surfing on the boards. If you're going to do that, give yourself at least a half hour for plenty of tries. For me, 25 or so runs yielded 2 rides all the way to shore. And, oh, they have a great surf shop too.

Yelp
When I asked my daughter what her favorite part of our week vacation to Sandbridge was, she said surf camp! She is 10 and did the 2 day chica surf camp. It was awesome! They met at the Little Island Park (bring $5 for parking unless you are just dropping off. We went and my younger daughter played on the playground and in the ocean anyway). Although we were supposed to get 5 hours over 2 days, the instructors kept them a little bit longer both days so they could get all the waves. The first day was pretty mild and the girls got to pretty much go in the water together and take the waves individually. The second day was rough (red flags) so an additional instructor came and they took the girls one by one. There was also a pizza party at their shop after the second day and the girls got a gift bag with a t-shirt, stickers and healthy snacks. Yes, my daughter wants to go back next year and her sister wants to go as well! Thank you Candice and Sarah for a great experience!!

Yelp
Great surf instructors. Excellent quality rental gear and wonderful delivery customer service.

Yelp
We rented a stand up paddle-board from them and it was great. Just a phone call and they delivered it within the hour. It was a nice board. For us they didn't pick up till later the next day so it was if we got two days for the price of one.

Yelp
Great local business owned by the nicest people you'll ever meet! Haven't tried the SUP lessons yet - but hear it's an awesome time! S & A is a great place to go for kids' surfing lessons & they have a great surf shop too. It's where I go FIRST to buy my kids Christmas presents - great clothes, longboards & accessories (the cool stuff the kids want). They have great end-of -summer sales too that you don't want to miss! A fantastic local business that represents Sandbridge well!!

Yelp
Went here on vacation. Rented some sup boards and they have pretty cool launch area to the back of the store and you can just paddle out from there. Pretty cool, but its an out and back, not a loop, so a little monotonous. The real reason for my 2 star review is we tried to rent 5 bikes the following day and every time we called anyone who answered had no idea if they had bikes available, how many bikes were coming back that day, "we have to walk back to the shed and check for you", totally clueless... Here's a novel idea- get a walkie talkie to the guys back in the shed and ask! Have a sign in/out sheet with the bikes being rented, have something where you can give customers an answer. We called 5 different times and each time they just can't get there act together, so we went down to Jimmie down the road next to the Baja restaurant and in less than a minute he showed us the bikes (a couple different models) and we were off and riding to cape fear park. I took the big tire bike and it was great in the sand. So easy and its closer to the park and the riding trails by miles and better parking.

Yelp
The staff was amazing! I will definitely schedule surfing lessons again! Had an amazing time!
