Out of desperation I ordered here a few times. It's very close to my house and they have a drive thru window. Those are basically the only two reasons.
I'll never be going back.
Ever since I ordered carry out at the drive thru the first time and got a dirty look for not tipping, I figured they probably would mess with my food in the future. After asking about the specials that were posted on the drive thru window I was told they were for dine in only (then why in seven hells are they posted there?) I figured this was my penance for not tipping at the DRIVE THRU.
This time though, I was eating my green shrimp, which had a sort of horse-radishy flavor. "Weird," I thought, as I continued to shovel food in my face. Then I got to a.. thing. I can't explain what it is because I don't *know* what it is. I showed it to my mom who was like "oh that's just deep fried okra you big baby!" Except then she sniffed it and dry heaved. "But why does it have veins and is white OUTSIDE and green INSIDE, Mom?" At which point I was banished before she started actually puking.
Anger is the only thing keeping me from projectile vomiting right now. I wish I could let you smell this deep fried thing. I wish you could hear the gentle pop as I experimentally pulled at a vein. You'll have to settle for the pictures which I will provide.
At a previous dine in experience, the service was hit or miss, didn't get marinara for cheese sticks til after the main course had been out a while. To be fair the marinara did originally come out with the sticks but was ice cold.
It's a bit pricey for what you get but in these small town restaurants that think the only way to make more money is to raise prices, that's what I expected.
The green glob was the final nail in the coffin for Surf and Turf Lodge. But the one preceding it was the fact that the owners were going on vacation for a week and decided to close the entire place down. (I guess they don't trust their employees to run it without them?) Wait, how do you know that Kristen? Well, it was on a big @$$ sign in front of the building. When I asked the drive thru worker if the employees were getting paid for this forced vacation, he laughed long and deep and ended with a sad "noooooope."
I guess horrible business owners really do poison their business. From the staff to the food all the way down to the deep fried green glob they serve to you.
Keep your fingers crossed that I don't become ill. Also, keep searching for somewhere else to find good food. This ain't it.
