90-Minute Private Family Lesson My husband and kids have surfed a little before and were really excited about the lesson. I had never surfed before and was borderline petrified. Our instructors Alyssa and Jason were fantastic. The ocean was a bit rough, but Alyssa is so encouraging and has such a calming presence, I felt at ease immediately. She gave good, detailed instructions at the beginning and throughout the session. I was able to stand up and ride a wave on the first try, and nearly every other wave after that. Jason was a natural with the teens. Our surfing skills improved considerably during our session. My family LOVED it so much they went surfing every day for the rest of the week. I was finally able to sign up and do Surf Diva's 2-day Women's Surf Clinic this past weekend. It was amazing. Our group had the best instructors, the three A's -- Alyssa, Ava and Audrey. They were very informative, always open to answering questions, calm and just really cool women. They provided me a good base and made me excited to continue this journey of learning to surf. On to Level 2 next. If you've been thinking of learning to surf but always come up with reasons why not to...stop it :) Sign up when the next schedule is posted because spots sell out really fast.

We had a great time during our surf lesson through Surf Diva! we did a private one for two of us with our instructor John- he was very kind and professional and gave us a tailored lesson that was perfect for our first time. We hadn’t been to the location in La Jolla Shores before so we didn’t know the parking situation so make sure you arrive early enough to find parking before your lesson. There were plenty of other students with their instructors out and it was a great beginner friendly environment.

We had surfing lessons today with Davo and Diego. All four of us had a fantastic time and all of us were able to get up and ride some waves. The instructors were fun, personable, and great with kids. Two adults 43 and kids 13 and 14 all were so happy that we did this on our trip! Thank you Surf Diva!

Coach Davo from surfdiva is very professional. He has more than 30 years of experience in surfing teaching. He is also very friendly. We booked three consecutive private lessons with Davo. My daughter's surfing level has improved significantly. I highly recommend surfdiva and Coach Davo.

We had a lesson with Davo and it was fantastic. He made us feel comfortable immediately and helped us catch some great waves, even for us as beginners. The overall shop and staff were great as well and you get 20% off the shop with a lesson. I’d go back to Surf Diva any time!

My 6 year old son had such a wonderful first surfing experience with Surf Diva! He did 3 90 min lessons with a buddy. We were so pleased that he was actually catching waves in his first lesson and improved each day. He had a blast and learned so much. Sophie was an amazing teacher! She was fun and patient with the kids and she is clearly a very knowledgeable surfer. He can’t wait to do it again and we could not be more pleased with Surf Diva.

Booked a lesson here with a friend on Memorial Day - was the best experience and investment ever! Haven't surfed in over 20 or so years, I got more out of the lesson Than one semester! Elliot, our instructor, was super helpful and supportive - highly recommend him. Would love to book again rim the future.

My 14 year old son had the BEST surf lesson with Logan! After a quick tutorial on the beach, Logan took my son into the water and helped him catch many, MANY waves. My son was able to stand up and ride the waves into shore (without any prior experience). This lesson surpassed all expectations I had going in. I appreciate that Logan used every minute of the allotted time to make sure my son had a rewarding & productive experience. Not only was the lesson wonderful, but it was great from the minute we walked into the Diva Surf shop. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and the shop was clean and happy. From start to finish, this was a 5 star experience. I highly recommend Surf Diva. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for the awesome memories!

Surf Diva was great from the initial website and phone call to my surf lessons. Had two fun beginner lessons with Dave and John. Both very helpful, informative, and enjoyable experiences. The store also has a good boutique and discount if you buy on the same day as your lessons. Overall, a great way to spend vacation time.

I'm local and I've been taking surf lessons from Andres for the past three weeks. He is the Yoda of surfing. He shares so much wisdom with me during every lesson and as a result I have improved significantly after each time we meet. He is the best instructor I've ever taken a lesson from (and I've taken a lot, both here and in Hawaii!) and I cannot recommend him highly enough. When you book ask for Andres!

Went for a semi private beginner's lesson with my husband and friend. Everyone at the shop is super friendly and helps you with everything you need. The surf boards were already down at the beach to it was easy to walk over to where the lesson was. Instructor was great too. Would recommend.

I have taken group lessons and a weekend women's clinic here. I say try and get a female instructor, in general they tend to be more informational and patient. I highly highly highly recommend the women's clinic. They helped me learn what I've been doing wrong, feel more confident, and I met a lot of women at my level and we can go out in a lil pack now. if you're a lady in SD and you're interested in learning, you should 100% take the women's clinic.

Nina and Elliott were amazing and taught me how to do a air reverse on my first time surfing. My time was amazing would definitely come back

This was my first time at a surf shop and in California and I was not disappointed to say the least. I felt right at home with the cozy shop and the friendly people. The staff specifically Nina and Elliot were very helpful, understanding, and welcoming. I made some great memories that I will never forget!

Surf Diva was amazing! Four girlfriends and I had a private class with Patrick and Melissa and had SO MUCH FUN! We were all super nervous as none of us had ever *really* surfed before, but the instructors made us feel so relaxed and comfortable. After a few practice rounds of techniques on the sand, we were ready to hit the waves. All five of us were able to eventually stand up and actually catch a few waves! If you've ever wanted to try surfing, but don't know where to start or don't want to try to figure it out on you own, I highly recommend Surf Diva. We all feel so much more confident and are already planning to go again!

The Surf Diva adult woman's surf clinic exceeded all my expectations. The surf instructors where top notch- informative, fun and their shared experiences were invaluable. We learned so much about surfing and the ocean in such a small amount of time. Standing up on my first day was the result of the encouragement, support and information I received from Surf Diva. This is a family run surf shop and surf school. Great for new Surfers. Our 2 boys have enjoyed surf camps and surf clubs on weekends. The surf instructors are well trained. I was a former lifeguard and have always felt safe with my kids in the water with Surf Diva and team. A great example of this is one day the surf at La Jolla shores was big and they added additional instructors to manage the kids. Safety and fun is always a priority for this company. I recommend people to get lessons with Surf Diva. The surf at the shores is great for beginners and its a perfect location to enjoy beautiful water, dolphins are often swimming offshore, and just overall a gem of southern california. You are going to have a good time at magical La Jolla Shores with this group of people that are focused on fun and safety.

My daughter loved her week at Surf Diva. She has not stopped begging me to take her back to the beach to surf. The highlights were the amazing teachers, super cool surf spot and the beautiful surf photos they took! It's been the best camp adventure yet.

Our family had decided to go down to San Diego for a short get away just last weekend, and we originally signed up for just the SUP lesson for the 3 of us, and ended up doing another surfing lesson for our kid cuz it was so much fun!! We had Mimi as our SUP instructor, and Brianna for our son's surfing lesson. Both instructors were wonderful! Both are very experienced instructors and surfers. Both are very detailed in explaining the instructions - the what to do/not to do's. We were all standing in our board once we got in the water during the SUP lesson. My son was doing pretty good towards the middle of of his surfing lesson. And he had a lot of fun too. We would definitely come back for more lessons if we are ever going back to San Diego! And the shop itself carries a lot of cute beach apparels and sandals. You get a 20% off anything at the store on the day of your lesson as well.

Overall I had a great experience. The people I dealt with were wonderful. My instructor, Davo, was solid!

Davo was incredible! This was my first time surfing and he was super patient and knowledgeable; my goal was to stand and ride out to the sand, and we achieved it quickly! We heard around that it was a great beginner beach and I would definitely agree.

These guys are great. I inquired about a surf rental because i was in town briefly, and was actually a little discouraged from renting a surf board because of not beginner friendly conditions. I still showed up because i've surfed a handful of times, and they had a 9 footer ready to go, but the best part was that i wasn't really feeling it in the water, and returned the board early, and they only charged me for half an hour, which i think is really classy. This will be my surf rental spot of choice going forward for their classy customer experience, and i recommend them above others for this above and beyond care.

We had a great experience with summer surf camp. The instructors are great. They have wetsuits to rent as well. We went to a different surf camp last year and the kids got very little surfing in, that doesn't happen here. In the half day camp she spent most of the time surfing and was worn out when she got home. Great experience

I recently tried surfing for the first time with my 15 year old daughter. We were both a little apprehensive because we knew nothing about it. I read some reviews at different locations/businesses and settled on Surf Diva. It was a excellent choice. They provided everything we needed. The shop was accommodating and equipment was good. They paired us up with a surf instructor named Donagh. He was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He made our learning experience great and comfortable. He taught us the basics and had us both standing up early on the lesson. It was a great experience and great instruction. Donagh did a excellent job and helped us catch our first waves!

My daughter took lessons, I took a class and now my grandson would like to attend the school now... just need to sell something to afford lesson... they are great teachers though

I've taken three surf lessons there and every time I've learned something to further my knowledge of surfing I've gotten way better each time Addie, Mimi and Dave O we're all so great. This last time with Dabo, I actually stood up and rode the face of the wave a little while. I would definitely recommend this surf shop and I'll be back for sure. Also, they were great with my kid as well.

We had our child attend the Surf Diva surf camp. Without any experience, our son was surfing by the end of the week. He had a blast, the teachers were excellent, the drop-off process was seamless and I found the entire camp easy and worth every penny. We did the picture package, was worth it as well. La Jolla beach is a popular spot, so expect any traffic and parking issues commensurate thereof. Also an excellent place to rent paddleboards, etc.

Our family has taken surf lessons with Surf Diva every year or so for the last several years. Now that we live closer to La Jolla, my daughter did (2) surf camps with them over the Summer and loved every moment! Brandon did an amazing job with the photos too and we're really glad we added that package (which was reasonably priced). Jake helped me make my first surfboard purchase and it's been working out very well back home in Orange County. He even helped me get a set of replacement fins shipped to my house when I realized one had broken.

What an amazing experience! We signed our 9 year old granddaughter up for surf camp at Surf Diva this summer. She is a swimmer but has never been on a surf board or swimming in the ocean. The team at Surf Diva was incredible. Memories of a lifetime for our granddaughter. Such a positive experience all the way around. Professional, friendly, experienced, caring and fun. We are recommending Surf Diva to everyone we know.

Today I can scratch one more thing on my bucket list thanks to Surf Diva!! Everyone was super friendly and nice from the start. My instructor was Davo and he was amazing. I loved that he got to the point and gave us pointers on how to get a handle of things. They have a cute shop with really nice souvenirs as well as surfing gear. I bought some awesome coasters to always feel like I am at the beach even in the cold DC weather. Will return, and high recommended. Specially if you are a complete beginner like me.

My husband and I had a blast during our private surfing lesson with Seth. He was friendly, approachable, and most of all, very very helpful in giving immediate feedback so that you could adjust and actually improve even in the two hours. This is my third surfing lesson ever. The other two were in completely different cities and were a group situation, so there were less personalized instructions, and a lot more waiting. This experience is hands down the best one yet, and worth the extra cost. I'm going to have to say that Haiwaii was a heck lot easier for a beginner, but Seth made seem it less daunting and gave me the confidence that I can actually do this. Make sure you get to Surf Diva at least 15 minutes early. There is limited street parking, a lot of spots are 90min only. The staff will have you sign a waiver at the stand outside, then take your temperature. They held on to our valuables free of charge since there is no secure place on the beach. You will have to walk about 8 min to get to the pink tent on the beach to meet the instructor. You are required to wear a mask while on the beach, but not in the water. (Lots of people ignored this rule, but don't get me started.) We were there just for a quick 5 min intro, then it was right into the water. Bring or rent wet suit if you can. Seth said the water was freezing, but I did not feel a thing with a wet suit on. They do provide a rash guard. There is public showers and restrooms on the way back to Surf Diva. They give you a 20% discount on most purchases in the shop after your lesson I believe.

Despite being a So Cal native, and spending my childhood at the beach, I'd never surfed so this was a bucket list item for me. My bff & I had a blast and our instructor, Andrea, was amazing. If us 2 older (60+) women can do this, so can you.

Was by myself and signed up for the group surf lesson aka party wave. 5:1 student:instructor, full wet suit and board rental, co-ed, 1.5 hours lesson on the sand and in the water under $80. There were like 20 of us but we were spread out so it didn't feel crowded. 20% off anything too plus you get a colorful surfing diploma back at the store at the end of your lesson! :) The instructors were all very knowledgeable, positive and encouraging. The staff at the shop were awesome. I loved Mimi the instructor! Note they don't have parking (and parking in La Jolla is a pain) or a restroom so plan ahead. Have fun!

We had an awesome experience! We were vacationing in San Diego and my son was eager to do surf lessons! So glad we used Surf Diva-after our previous lesson fell through, which I'm glad it did :) The sign up was easy and no matter how many times I called with questions they were always so polite and helpful. And the day of the lesson we lucked out by Having Killian be our instructor! He was so energetic and patient with my 6 year old son! My review was only for its retail space and not for the school itself which seems to have a lot of positive reviews. I had to find new flip flops shoes in La Jolla as my current ones werent comfortable and killing my feet. I saw that this had a variety of sandals and came in. It had a lot of people in and out of it who were trying to rent equipment. I think that was the main focus because we had next to no service finding what would be a good option. When we finally found a good pair, I saw a few other cute trinkets to possibly buy. I realized quickly that most of cute items I saw in the Seaport Village for 30% cheaper... I get that La Jolla is an expensive area but that's quite the mark up from another tourist spot. Overall, cute spot but for the price and lack of service... I may recommend to skip this spot for buying an actual item.

First time surfing! It was so worth it! Amazing experience... Awesome instructor Kurrant! I'll be doing this again! Even you are doing it for the first time and cannot actually do it well, focus on enjoying the sea and the waves and just riding in. Going in is honestly as much fun as surfing out... Don't need to be Michael Phelps to do this... Just ride the wave and chill if not anything else..

Surf Diva boutique is the best place in San Diego to get women's surf gear. It all started with a real life Surf Diva who shared her passion for the surf by offering Women's surf lessons. The ladies started to represent, surfing divas were no longer content wearing ill fitting men's surf gear. Izzy and Coco brought fashion to the lineup. The ladies loved the new options so much that even The New York times spread the buzz, and Surf Diva got the recognition that it deserved. This was the humble birth of surf couture for women. Surf Diva sells garments that fit ladies in cute shapes and colors, with sassy looks from the lineup to the sand. This small store is filled to the brim with everything from sun protective clothing, surfboards, footwear, wax, dresses to sexy bikinis. Located in the heart of La Jolla Shores, parking is tight and you may have to walk a few blocks in those sexy 3 inch heels to get here. It is worth the trip, you will find everything you need to for a day at the beach or a night on the town. As an added plus, this is a woman AND family owned business.

So impressed with this surf school! My instructor Kurrent Cockett is the epitome of a perfect surf instructor. After his guidance prior to entering the water, I was riding my first wave within 10 minutes. I've been surfing for the last few months and had yet to accomplish this while standing. What a day! Everyone is helpful and polite. From the young lady working in the store to the employees on the beach. Hats off to you all. Outstanding!

If I could give Kurrent 10 stars I would, this guy gave me great customer service. Aside from the great service his vibe was sooo cool. This shop Definitely hired the right guy. I walked in to rent out a wetsuit and was impressed on how he handled the transaction. This will be my to go to place from now on while I'm in the area.

If you want to Learn how to surf that is the minimum you'll get from the amazing Surf diva Surf school... You're going to learn surf etiquette you're going to learn surfing style points like how to pop up:) you'll learn little tricks on how to put on a wetsuit pendo how to hang up a wetsuit so that you don't get a ton of mildew in it You'll definitely learn that serving is about having fun from their patient and knowledgeable staff.

My kiddo had a blast! Current was super cool. It was organized, clean and we will def visit again!

Booked a private lesson with Surf Diva. 2 hours in the beach break with our instructors Jack and Blaise. My 6 year old and 8 year old had an absolute blast, as did my wife and I. We'll definitely book again next time we're in San Diego; can't recommend them enough!!!

I loved surfing with them and had never been before! My favorite experience of our trip to San Diego, but I love trying new things :) we did a two hour lesson which was a great amount of time and the water wasn't cold at all with the wetsuits on. Definitely a good workout but in my opinion so worth it!

This review is for the board and wetsuit rentals. My husband and I shopped around a bit, and Surf Diva had the best surf boards available. We were both able to rent legit boards of the right sizes (a long board and a fun board, which is medium size). They were not foam, they were fiberglass and proper. The wetsuits also worked for us. The shop is close to the beach, we just walked down the block and there we were! Cute shop as well, we bought some t-shirts and goodies afterward. I used to surf when I lived in SD, so I'm not interested in renting a giant foam board. Surf Diva took care of us and their prices were reasonable. I will definitely go back next time we come through!
