"At the brand new Wesley & Rose in the just-built Surf Hotel, drinkers can enjoy a pretty lobby bar and diners can order from the bistro menu. The French digs are matched by charcuterie, steak, and pasta plates." - Josie Sexton

This hotel is incredible. They set the standard in customer service. The staff treats you like you should be treated at a hotel like this, anything ordered to the room was there within 5 minutes, always friendly and willing to help with anything. They even helped set up a romantic dinner on the balcony. I am extremely impressed with this hotel and will definitely be staying again.

I recently stayed at the Surf Hotel & Residences in Buena Vista, and I can honestly say it was an amazing experience from start to finish. If you're looking for the perfect weekend getaway, this is absolutely the place to go. It's the ideal destination to unplug, relax, and reset. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, the rooms are incredibly chic and thoughtfully decorated, with a modern yet cozy feel that immediately makes you feel at home. Waking up to the breathtaking views of the river was unforgettable. One of the highlights of the stay was the on-site restaurant. The food was exceptional: fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every meal was a treat, whether we were grabbing a casual breakfast or enjoying a more elevated dinner. The town of Buena Vista adds even more charm to the whole experience. It's the perfect size for wandering on foot, with plenty of cute shops, local art, and coffee spots to explore. Everything about this place just encourages you to slow down and enjoy the moment. I highly recommend the Surf Hotel & Residences for anyone needing a break from the noise - it's stylish, serene, and simply unforgettable.

The Surf Hotel is awesome! The location alone is amazing but what makes the difference is the staff! The front desk/reservation staff was super helpful and very responsive. I worked with both Briony and Evie and they were great! I highly recommend staying here. Plus, the bar and restaurant are also great. Thanks for everything!||Chris|Arrowhead Alpine Club

This was my second stay at Surf and it was just as great as I remembered. I booked our room about four months ahead of our vacation and they called me a month before we left to let me know they had erroneously booked my room. They, in fact, were completely booked except for their new studio residences along the river, which they were putting us in to make up for their error. Let me tell you, they didn’t just make things right, they made things BETTER. The residences are incredible and we loved staying there for a couple of nights. Food and drinks at the restaurant and bar were all delicious and you can walk right to Main Street for the local shops and restaurants. It is such an unexpected place in BV. Highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding at Surf Chateau, and it’s truly a spectacular venue! The bistro environment is warm and inviting, offering a perfect balance of rustic elegance. The venue's stunning location along the Arkansas River provides breathtaking views and a peaceful ambiance that made for incredible photo opportunities. The nearby trails add to the charm, offering couples a beautiful space to explore while capturing special moments. The attached Wesley Rose Restaurant serves delicious food in a relaxed setting, creating a wonderful dining experience for guests. As a photographer, the combination of the scenic river, trails, and the cozy bistro atmosphere made it an unforgettable setting to work in. I highly recommend Surf Chateau for anyone looking to create lasting memories in a truly stunning environment.

Google
The location is fantastic, right next to the Arkansas river and the walking trails, close to restaurants and shopping, and views of the collegiate peaks. ||We had a suite, with a door off the main room which opened to a long shared balcony.|The bathroom is spacious and has a large window with frosted appliqués, which lets in plenty of light. The problem is that at night with the light on and a shared balcony, the frosty doesn’t provide enough privacy.|The king size bed comfortable and there is in the bedroom, just the main room.|About the tv…we weren’t notified in advance that cable/direct tv isn’t provided and that we would need to download our streaming apps and corresponding passwords. |Hotel parking seems to be an afterthought and we received a warning from the city on our last day for parking along the street where front desk had instructed us to park.

Google
Pleasantly surprised, as I have always looked at this hotel, but never stayed… very friendly staff - exceptional bar/food service by Cody and others. Rack of Elk was amazing. For a 1 nighter in-between mountain adventures - I will definitely be back! When a hotel, food and staff is put together like this - I know the management is doing their job. Thank you !

Google
Went there to see Dirtwire, and they were awesome ! The hotel looked amazing. All though we didn't stay, it's definitely a place I will go back to. The stone work iron and views right next to the river looking upon a granite toped mountain wow! My wife and I ate at the restaurant, and everything was fabulous. The hostess, wait staff, and quality of the food, It was all absolutely wonderful. All I can say is thank you it was a wonderful night.

Yelp
We loved our stay here past year as a newly dating duo. Nice beds, views and a cozy little spot to relax and enjoy one another. We stopped in for brunch Sunday. Sat up at the bar and loved it. I had the brekky sandwich with bacon and my partner had the shrimp and grits. I'm pretty sure it was a homemade english muffin and it complimented the organic(orange yolk!) egg and meat nicely. Great service from the bartender and an all around lovely stop on our drive that day. I didn't try the shrimp(allergic) but was told it was tasty.

Yelp
Simply incredible. The most beautiful hotel + chateau with impressive attention to detail in every aspect. Beverly at the front desk was so helpful to us as we added a night here within minutes of arriving. Food + Drinks at Wesley and Rose have been so amazing. Love this place!

Yelp
5 STRONG STARS for the Surf! We were on our way back to Manitou from Ouray to stay in BV overnight for hiking up in Cottonwood Pass area. Good vibe right off when we found the Surf hotel and restaurant! Luckily we were able to book one of the last chateau's. Talk about a classy but casual friendly village style hotel, I mean heck yeah! The rooms were clean, spacious and well maintained, large bathroom with great shower pressure (hahaha). The restaurant and pub was equally enjoyable with outside creek facing seating, cold beer and very good food! Super friendly staff that made you feel welcome and appreciated! Next time we go we're going to reserve a balcony room overlooking the Arkansas river and most beautiful, relaxing experience! Good places like this don't always come cheap but you need to treat yourself from time to time and this is the place to make it happen! Do yourself a favor and check out the Surf!

Yelp
We absolutely fell in LOVE with this adorable spot! We ventured to this part of Colorado for a wedding that was actually located at the Surf Hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived! Located right on the river, yet still, in an active and bustling part of the town, this hotel had it all. We were lucky enough to have one of the Chateau cabins. That little courtyard just outside of the chateaus at night? You have GOT to be kidding - it's gorgeous. With ample space, great amenities in the room, and lux linens, PLEASE do yourself a favor and stay here.

Yelp
What a beautiful hotel! My husband and I decided to stop in for a quick bite and a drink around 4:45 on our way through town. The hotel's Lobby Bar was nicely busy and we were greeted warmly and promptly by the host whom we politely asked if it was cool if we just grabbed a couple seats at the bar. No problem. The bartender greeted us, informed us of the happy hour specials, which didn't appeal to us, and so we ordered our preferred cocktails and asked to see a menu. Being a 52 year old married couple, we were surprised when asked to produce our IDs and we laughed. No laughing matter, he was serious. VERY. My husband had his, but my purse was in the car 3 blocks away, so I asked if I could show him a photo of my passport that I have on my phone. The answer was, "No. It's illegal to have a drink at the bar in the state of Colorado without a valid ID." Legitimately, we were stunned into silence. I offered that clearly I was well over the legal drinking age, and I DID have a photo of my passport but the bartender was incredibly dismissive. He spoke to me in a rude and patronizing tone, making it clear that he had no intention of serving us. We felt incredibly frustrated by that entire exchange. So bizarre! I would advise anyone considering visiting this bar to think twice. The bartender's behavior was so left-field that rather than walk to the car to get my ID we chose instead to spend our money anywhere but there. Ultimately, we ended up at CRAVE and truly enjoyed our experience! Save yourself the hassle and find a friendlier place to enjoy a drink...like CRAVE, for instance.

Yelp
Cost to amenities ratio is off balance. Pros: comfortable bed! Someone left their Netflix account logged in (thanks Beth) Cute area by the river Cons: no gym Shared balcony No real coffee (brunch is Sunday only starting at 0900). Parking sucks so bad Lighting ( feels like a swanky escape room) No closets/dressers/drawers. Table and chairs in room feel like cheap outdoor furniture. Fine to stay once, but we won't be back.

Aaron Z.

Yelp
Came and stayed here for a wedding. First star was for the very nice room and second star for the world class coffee. Everything else was honestly surprising. Food for the wedding was actually cold, like it came out the refrigerator and went right past the microwave. Staff was surprisingly short and rude with the family and friends through out the night. Communication was clearly off when the cake was cut by the couple and then ended up lost in a wildly different room where no one could find until the chuck-e-cheese pizza was put out next to it. My recommendation if you're considering staying here. Do stay here but don't plan to eat here and be patient with the clearly inexperienced staff. If you're thinking of having a wedding here, plan on outside catering and your own service staff so you don't have to worry about them ruining your guest experience.

Terri S.

Yelp
My absolute favorite hotel. Beautiful surroundings with exquisite decor. Rooms by the river are the most relaxing places to be.

Troy H.

Yelp
Super nice boutique hotel. Beautiful rooms. Don't miss Sunday brunch - it's fantastic. All around cool place within South Main area in BV. Check it out!!!

Carley F.

Yelp
We stayed at a nearby VRBO and walked over for drinks and apps one evening. Super great ambiance and very good service and food! Curious, we also asked them to show us a few rooms so we can consider the property if we come again and bring parents, family, etc. Beverly at the front desk showed us all around the whole place, we saw a few rooms and gave us a great tour. Thank you, Beverly! Well for sure consider staying here next time we're in town.

Yelp
Great place to have a nice romantic dinner, the staff was very nice, the hostess not too friendly but overall a good experience would definitely go back

Tim K.

Yelp
Wow! Friends had raved about their stay at the Surf Hotel. The high praise is warranted. I'm a total nerd for design. This place feeds that nerdiness in spades. It is well thought out and a stunner. There is a huge level of romantic charm, 1900s feel and current hipster. It's perfect. The staff was warm and helpful without being intense. I really appreciate that. The restaurant is delicious! My wife and I (sans kids) spent a couple hours over our meal. We never got a vibe from staff that we were overstaying our welcome. Having such a relaxed meal experience makes the stay all that more memorable. The room was cozy, and had a minimalist almost Paris feel. Can't wait to go back!

Brian B.

Yelp
Have stayed here many times, but this will sadly be the last time. While the rooms are clean and beds are comfortable, don't expect to get much sleep if there's a wedding party in house. Drunk wedding guests yelling and running up and down hallways until early in the morning made sleep impossible. You'll get more sleep in a tent up in Four Mile.... Good luck!

Yelp
Charm, charm, charm! Had a fabulous weekend stay at the Surf. Stayed in a chateau king. Felt a bit like being in a European village. Beautiful exterior and interior design. Staff is helpful and friendly. Bedding is sumptuous and SO soft. Loved the details in the moldings, draperies, sink faucet, lighting, and shower. The hotel restaurant design was a great mix of lodge-y and transitional. Window seat cushions were a nice touch. The food was wonderful. Had the pappardelle with elk bolognese and a glass of Pinot noir - perfect pairing and delicious. Highly recommend - looking forward to a return trip.

Yelp
We've stayed here twice now...once in Summer and another time over Spring Break. Both times we've opted for the Cottage. We have little ones, so they love the two-story to get up to the precious loft via a ladder. It's kinda like a tree-house feel, yet with all the comforts. Everything is stunning...you just don't see the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail/quality materials. Where other hotels skimp, they've spared no expense. From the linens and high-end finishes to even having a Nespresso machine in our room, to the refurbished antique hardwood Floors in the lobby and massive gas lanterns and ironwork outside on the cobblestone façade. And the location is prime, right on the river and across from the large park where Summer Concerts take place on the sprawling lawn or the kids can play while you grab a coffee or shop. The staff is friendly and efficient, and we look forward to coming back soon!

A L.

Yelp
This place doesn't even deserve one star. We walked into the lobby bar and it was so loud that I could not even hear my father across the table. So we asked to be seated outside. We were a party of 6. Unfortunately, they cannot sit 6 outside so we asked to be seated at 2 tables beside each other. A party of 4 and a party of 2. They took our phone number and said they would call in about 45min. So, we waited for 40 minutes, they called and said they will not accommodate us and instead filled all the outside tables. We came to celebrate my 40th birthday. Needless to say, we will not be back. We will not recommend this place to anyone, and we are locals so we will make sure everyone knows the service we received.

Yelp
It is a beautiful venue that has fantastic views. The rooms are comfortable, though very pricey. The attitude of the staff seems to be they are doing you a favor letting you stay there or, in our experience, having a sizeable event there, they were gracing you with their assistance. The coordinator took no responsibility for anything that didn't go correctly. Her attitude was that even if they made a mistake, such as in booking our guests, or in the planning of things, they were not going to accept any responsibility for it. While our wedding event came off beautifully it was more due to our planner's ability to persevere through the BS than the hotel's efforts to bend on anything out of the ordinary. For example, the bride asked one of the staff for some water & never received it, she later walked up to the bar & asked them for a glass of water and was told, there is the pitcher, help yourself. The planner noticed some debris on the patio next to the walking trail so she asked one of the staff if they would please clean it up, they handed her a broom & dust pan & said she could clean it herself. Finally, when the after party was ending I asked the staff if they could put the leftover food, mostly pizza, in their cooler and was told they don't do that, so we had to take it to one of our guests airbnb where they could put it in the their refrigerator and bring back in the morning. Unfortunately, there were several more similar stories. So our event went off beautifully but it was mostly despite the hotel & staff rather than because of their efforts. NO I would not recommend using The Surf Hotel for anything.

Ritu R.

Yelp
We love have been in love with Buena Vista for about 5 yrs now and the Surf Hotel & chateau is a fixture to every visit we make from a European design and amenities to the prime location and impeccable restaurant in the lobby there's never been a visit that has disappointed. We have stayed in the suite, king room with balcony and Château's each offering a very comfortable and scenic stay. No they don't have room service but you can run downstairs and grab whatever you'd like as the restaurant is open till 10 PM on the weekends. Rooms don't have a phone to contact the front desk but they said you up with a texting option. Should you need anything, they immediately respond and satisfy any needs that may come up. The only hiccup on the visit could be parking as it does fill up quite early with local patrons visiting at the restaurant/bar. No, it's not a luxury resort but it checks all the boxes of comfort for a weekend getaway escaping the hustle and crowds of the tourist fled resort towns.

Yelp
Best vacation spot. Our room was stunning! Restaurant down stairs is amazing. Love this place

Bruce B.

Yelp
My wife and I rolled into Buena Vista on a late Sunday afternoon with no reservations nor any idea, really, what this town had to offer. I drove my trusty bug-splattered Jeep Wrangler down South Main Street when - low and behold - we came upon this place, right beside the mighty Arkansas River! I parked, jumped out, and ran inside the Surf Hotel, right up to the check-in desk as I shoved an old lady already there aside, and I screamed at the young man standing behind that desk as loud as I could possibly muster, "Get me a damn room, you dirty son-of-a-bitch!!!" Okay, everything is true but that last part there. We walked in and very politely asked if they had a room. They did. It was going to cost exactly $256.57 for the night, but it had a huge kick-ass shower, large comfortable bed, and a balcony that overlooked the river and mountains. Also, there would be a free concert that night in their newly-built state-of-the-art Ivy Ballroom, performed by locally-popular The Grateful Dead cover band, Forgotten Space! I looked at my wife. It was either I pony up the dough and stay here, or we could leave and camp somewhere, sleeping in our hammocks. She did not have the look on her face which suggested that she'd rather leave this lovely hotel and risk becoming a bear's burrito in the woods. So.... SOLD! We'd stay the night here. I have nothing but nice things to say about the Surf Hotel. All in all, I seriously doubt there's a nicer (or more expensive) hotel anywhere else in Buena Vista, and if given the gumption and means, you should certainly stay here. Now with all that flattering stuff said about the Surf Hotel, Forgotten Space was down-right awful. Yes, I said it. They were so, so bad. The music and the singing. I could only stick around for a couple of songs, but man, they were miserable sounding the eight minutes or so that I stood there enduring it all. There's no state-of-the-art venue on this planet that can fix their mess. Perhaps I'm just spoiled because I live within the so-called "Music Capital of the World" which I suppose affords a better quality of live music in general due to all the competition, or perhaps Forgotten Space is just really, really bad. Actually, I don't think it's primarily any of these things. I believe the main reason Forgotten Space sucks is due to the fact that The Grateful Dead sucked. Honestly, I couldn't name you even one Grateful Dead song, and I believe that's because none of them are any good at all. I guess perhaps there's an audience for this Dead shit and I'm not included. That's fine with me.

Boomer P.

Yelp
We visited today for dinner at the lobby bar. Food was good, super small menu and whatever the fenced area is across from the hotel total ruins the atmosphere. Instead of the nice sounds of the Arkansas River your head is throbbing from the load music next door. What a waste of a good atmosphere. Move that somewhere else away from the hotel. I can't imagine staying there and listening to that thumping.

Janessa R.

Yelp
The accommodations were swanky and everything is well curated. Extremely comfortable beds. The restaurant is delicious. However, the staff seemed irritated by our presence...not very friendly overall. We booked a room over the phone and ended up getting the wrong room, but enjoyed it nonetheless. I asked if we could have a late checkout as a courtesy for the inconvenience of being booked in the smaller room and they said yes but only until noon. We seemed to be just about the only people staying there. At 10:55 room cleaning knocked on our door and we told them we had a late checkout. Then again at 11:50 they knocked....it seemed like they couldn't wait for us to leave? Beautiful property and decorating but needs work in the hospitality department.

Jess G.

Yelp
Food and drinks are good. Not a great variety in menu choices. Service not great at all! Went three times and each time every person was kind of rude and seemed put out to help anyone. Would not go back.

Jason W.

Yelp
Great place to stay, and saw great live music to boot. Rooms are very nice and staff very friendly. My only complaint is the shower does not have a closing door and is not sealed along the wall. Water goes everywhere outside the shower and the tile floor becomes extremely slippery. I fell due to the water and the only thing to grab onto is the poorly supported glass wall. Glad I wasn't seriously hurt, but this does seem like a hazard and should be remedied. Otherwise we loved this place!

Doug P.

Yelp
St Regis prices, Hampton service. Our second stay here. At $635 for two nights for the smallest room, no view, this hotel takes advantage of being the only game in town of nice hotels. Rooms are small with no closet. (A few hangers for your things). Bathroom is bright, but small. Wall unit A/C, so it comes on and off all night. Front desk staff is cordial but not particularly nice and welcoming. Currently still playing the covid game, so no daily service or turn down. On our first stay we got the best corner, river view room. But people are not restricted to the space in front of their own room so it's a free for all in terms of 'your' balcony. OVERALL: Nice, clean hotel but way overpriced in my opinion. I do like the linens and they do have a Nespresso which is nice. Food and drink at the Wesley and Rose is OK. Nothing to write home about. Avoid the french onion soup.

Yelp
Updating my review as Manager Tony replied to my review. Our family went out of our way to check this place out on the recommendation of a shopkeeper in Tomichi, and the first thing we did was share this information with the front desk. We were going from one local business to another, and just to see if we could eat and check out Buena Vista on the water. The woman at the front desk was rude both to me and to my husband, as though we really were bothering her despite there being no one checking in or anywhere near the foyer. Again, I thought for a moment we were back on one of the coasts, where it's part of the brand to be rude. There was a "buyout" in the restaurant, ie a wedding party, which is all good and beautiful, and why the restaurant was closed. That's not at all my point. As prospective diners and hotel residents, we walked away with such a bad impression of The Surf that we will never go back and will tell people about our experience. The whole operation feels like it just doesn't fit in Buena Vista which is otherwise such a cute and warm, welcoming town. Again, if you're looking for fancy and don't care how people treat you when you walk in ready to spend your money, then you might like The Surf! Otherwise, consider many of the other nice places in town who might not make you feel so badly for asking for 2 minutes of time.

Marcy R.

Yelp
Enjoyed a few days at a family wedding; it was just perfect...ceremony and reception held on site and many of us stayed on property. Very much adhered to all COVID procedures. The room was pretty sparse (no dresser, no desk, no pictures, no carpet) but plenty of terrific towels and a very comfy bed. Didn't like the handicapped shower which I did not ask for. The stairs to the loft were super steep, but probably loved by kids. Nice small heater and a nice TV. The little table and chairs could have been more sturdy and a couch or comfy chair would have been nice too. But the greatest part was the food at the reception; it was world class as far as I'm concerned, as was the brunch the next morning. I was told everything was locally sourced - just great food! Great local shopping and extraordinary views of the river and trails for hiking right behind the hotel. Seems it's very popular for kayak folks and weddings...I'd visit again, but I'll ask for room 11 or 12 - with couches and a view of the wedding!

Janelle G.

Yelp
Such a great time Good good service Amazing people Wonderful atmosphere The river is beautiful The rooms in the river are fun Love Love

Savannah S.

Yelp
Ever since moving out to CO, I've heard sooo much hype about the Surf Hotel. My fiancé and I headed out to Buena Vista to check the place out for ourselves & let me just tell you... This place is A DREAM! The architectural details were absolutely stunning & our room looked out onto the river & mountains. This place is totally worth the hype! Our room was modern and cozy. We had our own nespresso/coffee station, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was perfection. My fiancé and I spent most of our time just sitting on the balcony, reading, sipping coffee, and rejuvenating ourselves. We treated ourselves to a dinner at the restaurant and we were totally impressed with the food. I could go on and on about this place, but think you need to just get out to Buena Vista and visit the Surf Hotel yourself! Whether you love the outdoors or would prefer to stay inside and kick your feet up, this is a place for you!!

Abby O.

Yelp
The perfect hotel for millennials. It is beautiful, simplistic, and totally gram-able. It sits right next to a beautiful river with hiking trails. Rooms face the river with a balcony you can sit and drink your morning coffee on while enjoying the view and white noise from the water. There are no unnecessary clock radios with the horrible glowing light all night. The bathrooms have heaters so you're not freezing when you get out of the shower. Coffee in the room as well as tiny spoons, which came in handy when we brought our desert upstairs after dinner. Which brings me to the restaurant. Delicious! They had a special valentines menu, which we did not order from, but it was fun to have the option. Excellent service, didn't have to wait long for a table. At the end of your stay, you check out via text and go on your way. Oh and parking is free and easy to find. Go check this place out!

Kristina P.

Yelp
We just stayed the night here, and had a great time. I love the restaurant, our server was awesome. I had the blackened chicken sandwich, and it was fabulous. The bread is freshly made, and delicious! Highly recommend!!!

David M.

Yelp
We came to this boutique hotel for a wedding. The rooms are adequate but spartan. As is the trend absolutely no place to off load your clothes. Zero drawers. So if you like living out of a suitcase you'll love tit. The weekend we were here had three wedding. Yet, rooms come without a full length mirror! No daily maid service " due to Covid". I am getting tired of that excuse. One small place to hang coats, suits, etc, with closed circle hangers that fall off easily and take down all the other clothes too like dominoes Yet the lobby and setting are truly beautiful. Only one elevator. In summary, great for the young crowd but not old folks like us.

Mimi N.

Yelp
It was a last minute decision to go to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. So they had one room on the hotel side left that was fairly pricey for a very standard room. Felt like Vail prices. Again, it was last minute during Fathers Day weekend, so that most likely was the reason. Otherwise you would be better off getting an actual Airbnb for that price and have more amenities. They were just newly opened 3 weeks and were still doing construction while we were there. The hotel was very clean, but so very minimal. No closet, 3 bath towels for 2 guests, 1 roll of toilet paper and no phone in be room which is fine in this day and age I guess. They didn't even have so not disturb signs and someone had made their own to stick on the door. They do have soap, shampoo & hair conditioner in the bathrooms and a nepresso coffee maker in the room. The walls are thin and you can hear quite a bit. We were napping one day and had a hard time sleeping because it sounded like construction was going on in the hall. Come to find out it was just house keeping next door. Bring ear plugs for napping during the day. Bed was comfortable. It's in a good location. Close to the little town. I prefer next time to take a chance at getting an Airbnb in town if we decide to go down there again. For that kind of money you could probably get a whole house that sleeps 8. Also, don't eat at the hotel. At least for breakfast. Save your money and go to Main Street.

Norm M.

Yelp
First, the Internet. Never have I stayed anywhere that had such fast internet. 98 Mbps. The Room: had a shared balcony overlooking the Arkansas River. Beautiful. Restaurant: surprisingly affordable prices fit this boutique style hotel. The Water: bring your own water bottles. Surprisingly, the hotel Does not sell water bottles, even though their tap water and ice machine put out terrible tasting sulfur water. Do Not Use The Ice! Yuck.....

Dorothy H.

Yelp
My girlfriend lives right down the street from this Absolutely beautiful hotel, right on the river, rooms are so beautiful, we had Brunch today, our server was Linda was such a great waitress, very kind, and we were served quickly. The Crab Benedict was delicious along with the French Toast which my friend ordered, and great cup of coffee. I will be purchasing a hotel gift certificate for my son and wife as they will love this French country chateau, a one of a kind gem!!

Bridgit W.

Yelp
So charming. Tiny little town that includes good coffee and good food and very nice people.

Shannon B.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Every one was very nice, rooms were charming and clean. 11 y/o son loved the loft bed. Right on the river! Highly recommend and will come again ASAP!

If you're looking for a romantic weekend hideaway, this is it! The rooms are so stunning, modern, and sparkling clean. You'll feel like you're visiting Europe, not a town in Colorado. We had a room overlooking the river, which I highly recommend. It's a treat drinking coffee in the morning from the balcony. Treat yourself to staying here if you're in Buena Vista for a special occasion.

Yelp
This was by far my favorite hotel in Colorado. The views were absolutely beautiful. The room was very secluded and private. Beauna Vista was very charming and picturesque even though it is in the beginning stages of development. The city has delicious vegetarian-friendly restaurants and is located near major trails and, of course, the river. The trails around the river lead up to the closest mountain and although it is quite a trek, it was well worth the views. The room itself was semi-small but it was so darn cute and clean. The bathrooms were elegant and clean. You are given an access code to get in your room, there is no front desk.

Yelp
Amazing hotel and the view is worth the money We loved our stay and will be back. We also enjoyed wine and dinner outside by the Arkansas River One of the best hotel stays in CO.

Yelp
Where in the heck did Surf Chateau come from? It seemed almost too good to be real... But it's legit all the way. Buena Vista is a sleepy little town. Almost half the size (if not smaller) than its sister city, Salida. There's only a few bars and restaurants on the main drag, along with a school/post office/park - just about what you'd expect from a little mountain town. You definitely have to look for Surf Chateau on and offline to find it. But when you drive up, you know you're in for a special treat. There's no hotel lobby or concierge. When you book the room, an email arrives in your inbox the day before with room assignment and instructions on how to get in. Some patrons prefer that extra human touch, but I enjoyed walking up to the stone entryway straight to my "room" which looked like a stone/steel cabin, complete with small patio out front. A standard queen room runs for $139/night and it was perfect for two. The high ceilings and white walls/decor make the space feel bigger than a regular hotel room. The brand new bathroom with marble and tile feels cleaner than a regular hotel room too. Nice touch for soft sheets, too! If you're celebrating something special or not used to the mountains/Arkansas river, splurge and get a deluxe room with a door that opens up into nature. No matter the season it's gorgeous! It was a quick 24 hour visit, however I will be back to this little BV gem! There's a Surf Hotel opening up later this year and more businesses on the way...

Yelp
We will DEFINITELY be back to stay at this hotel again. We stayed in one of the chateau suites and was highly impressed. Very clean, modern, and minimalistic. We enjoyed dinner at the Wesley and Rose restaurant attached to the hotel and enjoyed brewery/pub hopping on Main Street only one mile away.

Yelp
We stayed in the Chateau, with our exterior door being accessed via a beautiful, quiet and cozy patio area. The room was exactly as pictured on the website, with a steep ladder going to the loft bedroom. The kitchen was clean, well organized and had everything I could've wanted. Nespresso machine, microwave, fridge/freezer, even big blocky ice cubes and classy little coffee service! The bathroom was modern and beautiful. Extra large tiled shower stall, large pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap. Perfectly clean. Check in was easy, and all done via email and text. They give you a code, and you're in. We also got in a little early, and were able to finish getting ready for a 3pm wedding. The reservation process was also excellent - I called the hotel directly. He walked me through each type of room, made sure I saw pictures, and understood the prices. He made sure I knew each type of room that was available so I could reserve exactly what I wanted. ***The only thing I would change: They charge your credit card when you make your reservation, so I actually paid for the room before I was even there. That seems odd to me. Put the charge through after checkout.*****

Yelp
Giving a 5 Star for such a beautiful place & a fat Zero for the manager Whoa, what are the chances? Being the Maid of Honor, I went to the Surf Chateau/South Main with my best friend to get info and preview the facility. As we met with the Hotel/Event Manager, Stacey Turner I had to take a double take. No way, this is the same PSYCHO my husband & I met with in Cripple Creek when looking for our wedding venue. In short, we did not choose that facility based on Stacey's attitude. We just could not imagine having any type of planning relationship with her. Fast forward to Buena Vista & Stacey has not changed a bit. My friend also decided not to pick the venue because of her attitude. We both really really liked Surf Chateau/South Main as a great facility but beware & good luck if you have to deal with CRAZY LADY. My friend & I both thought about how many couples are being scared away. Love all South Main

Yelp
To be fair, I have to say that the vibe in the room is good. It has a zen-like feel, and it's clean, and the bed is comfortable. But if you do go, ask first if they're giving you an accessible room, because they may do it and not tell you. And then you'll ask to move, and there won't be any rooms available.

Yelp
perfect spot in BV, close to everything and the bar and restaurant downstairs is the best food and cocktails in town, didnt want to leave the hotel for anything but hiking!

Yelp
We just returned for our 5th year!!! That in itself speaks voulumes. This year was OVER THE TOP!! It started with Arda at the front desk: securing our reservation in ourfavorite room, requesting early check in and suggesting Brunch. All 3 happened. Brunch was lovely. We then chose to dine in for our 42nd Anniversary. Again, OVER THE TOP!! Hannah was our server. She suggested meals based on our culinary favorites. Our meals were absolutely delicious! She complimented us with dessert. I reached out to Sky the next day complimenting Hannah. Then I ran into her the next day and she asked how our Anniversary was!! GREAT employee. Then we met Donna in Housekeeping. Another great staff member. We extended our stay one more day, obviously, and had dinner our last night. Arda was our Waiter!! He recommended the Lasagne. So delicious and that bread. To finish, I ran into many wonderful folks on the Elevator and we always talked about how great our stay was. One couple shared it was their 1st visit, "it's Heavenly" Pretty much sums it up. See you next year,Surf Hotel....

Yelp
Love love love this place! Mainly because it's super clean and fresh! Right next to the river and trails, easy walk to shops and restaurants and such a nice contrast to the many overcrowded mountain towns in Colorado. We have stayed her multiple times with great experiences! If you love the outdoors- hiking biking rafting or just watching the river run - check this out!

Yelp
My wife and I were so impressed with how things were managed here. So many times we would go somewhere to retreat only to find that the maintenance team either didn't keep things up to date or they weren't given money to do so. Not so here! Everything, from the attentive staff to the excellent COVID protocols made this place a wonderful, safe retreat. They had digital check in/out and a digital room key using your smartphone. We didn't have to touch a thing. We got the riverfront king in the chateau. The balcony offered not only a great place for a night cap overlooking the peaceful river but enabled us to see the sunrise with the great coffee and hot tea offered in the room. Oh, and don't get me started on the luxury linens. Wow! There's not a lot of safe places to vacate these days. We wasted our money going to Telluride before this and our vacation completely redeemed by how things were set up here. So if you want a place to decompress away from people, maybe take a nice bottle of wine or scotch and enjoy!
