"Most of the hotels in Waikiki read a bit touristy and over-the-top for our tastes, so the understated Surfjack, with its laid-back, hipster vibe is a more than welcome addition. Expect to see bamboo, bright colors, and staff decked out in Hawaiian-print shirts, though all those classic décor motifs are cooly balanced by mid-century furniture and modern pieces of art. The hotel is also home to an excellent restaurant (helmed by local chef hero Ed Kenney) and Olive & Oliver, a smaller outpost of the Oliver boutique that’s outfitted with a sweet little coffee bar serving Café Vita espresso and cold brew."

Surfjack was a very nice stay. The location was awesome! There were plenty of restaurants nearby and the beach was only about 10 minutes away. The staff were extremely pleasant and always went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. The only thing we did not enjoy to much were the pool hours. Kids can’t swim past 5:30 and my kids were a little bummed about it. Aside from that we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!

The room was great! It was clean, spacious, and it even had a little yard. Service was nonexistent- but that is part of the deal and we knew this when we booked. We got our room keys from a key box and proceeded to enjoy the rest of our stay without ever seeing or needing any staff. If you're as self-sufficient as we are this is a great place to stay. If you are looking for room services and a maid to turn over your sheets every morning then this isn't the place for you. Location was great. Half a block to the beach. Overall it was a fantastic place!

I cannot wait to come back here. The events and activities the hotel puts on are one of the best and coolest features this hotel offers. The dogs hanging around are just a huge added bonus. Location was perfect we found so many happy hours within walking distance. And far enough away from the downtown core that it wasn’t too loud. The two bedroom suite was incredible and would be great for all ages families. I loved it here we all did and we cannot wait to be back

If you're looking for a charming, centrally located hotel in Waikiki with amazing staff, look no further than the Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club!||We recently stayed at the Surfjack and were immediately charmed by its retro-inspired decor. It’s a seriously cute hotel that feels both vintage and modern at the same time. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home.||Now, no review is complete without mentioning the less-than-perfect parts, and to be honest, our stay started with a small snag. We had an issue with the hot water in our room. However, I want to emphasize how incredibly well the Surfjack handled it. They were quick to address the problem and, without hesitation, moved us to a suite! The upgrade was a fantastic surprise and really elevated our entire experience.||Beyond the excellent service and problem-solving skills, the Surfjack has so much to offer. The location is fantastic, allowing for easy access to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Plus, let's talk about the parking – cheap parking in Waikiki is practically unheard of! This was a HUGE bonus and saved us a ton of money. The parking garage is tight and a little hard to navigate at first, but totally worth it to save the money.||When we booked our stay it included a restaurant credit which was a really nice perk, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and drinks. The cocktails were creative and refreshing, and the food was flavorful and well-prepared.||Finally, a random but wonderful bonus: the dogs! There were several adorable pups lounging around the pool area, adding to the laid-back and friendly atmosphere. As dog lovers, this was delightful!

Unfortunately, several expectations we had were not met, and I believe it's important to bring these to your attention for the benefit of future guests. Much of our decision to stay with you was based on recommendations from online videos, particularly from a great travel channel called "Jaycation" on YouTube. However, the information in those videos appears to be outdated and quite misleading. I would recommend considering having such content updated or old videos removed if possible, as it sets inaccurate expectations. Some amenities we anticipated -- which played a significant role in our decision to book -- were no longer available during our stay: Free parking Complimentary sunblock Daily live music In addition, I ordered the "Gin Whale Drink" based on the video, but it was served in an oversized fishbowl clearly meant for 2-3 people. I wasn't warned about the new size, and we had to discard most of it, which felt wasteful and avoidable with a simple heads-up. Our room was an accessible unit, but unfortunately it wasn't suitable for someone with disabilities: The shower head was broken The blinds were stuck on the track The automatic handicap door buttons didn't function properly from either side Housekeeping cleaned the room but did not clear used cups or clean the lanai The most concerning issue, however, was discovering bed bugs in our room. We documented the issue with a photo and promptly notified the front desk. While we were moved to another room, dealing with this was incredibly unpleasant and stressful. Since returning home, we've had to take extra precautions -- discarding some belongings, washing everything in hot water, and quarantining our luggage. This has caused significant inconvenience and disappointment. While I'm not sure what can be done to fully resolve the situation at this point, I did want to express my intent to share an honest review online to help other travelers set appropriate expectations. On a positive note, I want to commend your staff -- every team member we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and professional. They were easily the highlight of our stay. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope this feedback helps in improving the guest experience moving forward. *** I sent this to hotel manager last week and was not responded to.

Given the previous reviews I think expectations were a bit high. We booked a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom room for our stay. The 1 bedroom was ready when we arrived on an early flight which was really appreciated. Unfortunately the promised phone call when the 2 bedroom was ready never happened. The 2 bedroom was a great size for ourselves and our daughter. The beds were comfortable but there was no drawers etc in the bedrooms to unpack into.|There was no soundproofing at all between rooms. We could hear every word of every conversation from the adjoining lounge when we were in our bedroom, as well as the TV. Felt like we were constantly eavesdropping!|The coffee from the coffee shop was great, pizza and chicken wings around the pool were yummy. We ate in the restaurant once and really enjoyed it.|Housekeeping was very hit and miss. Some days the linen, towels and rubbish were done. Sometimes rubbish would be done and nothing else. |Was great having towels available for pool and beach. Pool did get very crowded some days. The many kids there seemed to be having a lot of fun. There was live music a few nights while we were there.|Location was great. Easy walking distance to beach, heaps of restaurants and Target was just up the road.|Having dogs around was fun and cute.

The rooms are quite large and generally speaking well appointed. We were originally placed into a room with 1 king and 1 queen bed, including a standard size walk in shower. We then moved to a room with 2 king beds that worked better for our family. This room did not have a deadbolt lock on the door and only had a shower stall with a broken shower head. Netflix and other streaming sites did not work in either room. Also, the couches are very cute to look at but not super comfortable. I cannot speak for the pool, we did not use it. But I can say the lobby area never felt welcoming to anybody unless they were actively dining at the restaurant on site. The service was perfectly fine, what you would expect for a hotel in a tourist town. The location of the hotel was not great for our family but it could be for yours. We would have preferred to be a bit closer to the ocean than Ala Moana shopping area but the biggest issue with the location is parking. Yes, it is affordable but you must walk blocks away from the hotel day and night to park and must move your car every 24 hours to continue receiving the quoted “discount parking rate” for the Surf Jack. Of course, Jack was not there during our stay either which was a big bummer. I think for the price the amenities and location simply did not match.

We had a fantastic stay at the Surfjack Hotel and truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the hotel felt clean, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. The staff were friendly and helpful, which really set the tone for our visit. There were so many thoughtful touches that made our stay feel special—complimentary coffee, sunscreen, and water were available daily, and we loved the option to borrow a beach tote and towels for our outings. These small conveniences made a big difference. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet, offering a peaceful retreat after a busy day exploring Waikiki. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed and inviting, with a great sense of community and style. One of our favorite parts was happy hour at the bar—fantastic food and drinks at great prices, perfect for unwinding in the evenings. We also really enjoyed the on-site ARVO coffee shop, which served up delicious coffee and light bites in a beautifully designed space. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and will absolutely choose the Surfjack again the next time we’re in Honolulu. Highly recommended

Yelp
It was a picture of the ultra cool "Wish You Were Here" pool that drew me to the Surfjack a few years back. Decided I needed to stay in this mid-century hotel. When a buddy decided to join me on that trip, I messaged the hotel to request two beds. They did us better and hooked us up with a two-bedroom suite. Sweet! Came back this year but now I booked the two-bedroom suite since there were 5 of us. There was still plenty of room and all was comfortable. It's in great proximity to Waikiki Beach without being too close. Loved the complimentary morning coffee. Everyone on staff was welcoming. We had a car this time so $10 per night for parking a couple of blocks away was a great perk. Maybe when I come back next, I'll finally meet Jack, the hotel dog.

Yelp
What can I say! This place was an unexpected surprise. It became our home away from home. We stayed at the surf jack for a month and truly enjoyed everyday. The whole family was comfy, including my fur babies. Cleaning service was always friendly and helpful. Front desk personal were welcoming and accommodating. The others like us that stayed for a long time also made it nice as our kids played at the pool and got along. The surf Jack always has something going on in the evening, pop-up boutiques, live music, movie nights, and more. Mocktails and cocktails from the restaurant were always yummy. Our kids loved the pizza and fries. Great spot to stay in Waikiki!!!

Yelp
I am soooo glad I stayed at this boutique hotel instead of one of the popular chains. The room was very neat and looked even better than other hotel chains I've stayed at in Waikiki! They have live music every night, and the restaurant is very convenient as well. They also have a cafe! The staff are very accommodating; they let me check in earlier than the usual check in time, which I believe is 3 PM! Moreover, the hotel is very dog friendly so expect to see a lot of cute pups around!! Definitely one of the best part of my stay!

Yelp
POV: You bring your dog to stay with you at the Surfjack (for a staycation). This is our second time staying at the Surfjack, first time with our dog, and I'll be mainly talking about bringing your dog to the Surfjack. DISCLAIMER: I did win one free night in a one bedroom suite, but I decided to get an extra night just because. Yes, they allow dogs, but that's about it. They don't do anything different if you were a guest with dogs compared to without; I realized after our first night that my expectations were a bit high. For example, I only had travel, silicone bowls with me because we're local and I didn't want to travel with my dogs metal bowls for three days. I asked the front desk if they had any extra bowls and they didn't really have anything. Also, I asked if they had a dog bed just to see what else they offer for dogs (besides just being allowed to stay over) and there was nothing. Overall, dogs being allowed, which can be a lot to ask for from a hotel, is it, just stay over, nothing special, no special treatment. The staff is chill, but really have to shout out to Whitney, so bubbly, personable, and hard working. They're also very accommodating, when my husband asked for a microwave they sent one up to the room right away. The room was pretty clean and comfy too, which I know is a common complaint I've noticed, but both times I've stayed at the Surfjack I've liked our room. You also can't beat free parking in Waikiki! Yes, it's a block away, but it's worth it compared to what other hotels charge. Also, great food is a block away so you're gonna be walking regardless. As a hotel that (imo) boasts that it is dog-friendly, I really wish there were more amenities or at least more recognition whenever a guest brings a dog to the hotel. I also know this is a hotel that is common for military families - they have a whole PCS movie night - so families who have dogs benefit, but again, I really do wish they did just as much for the dogs as they do for the families that stay here.

Yelp
Writing this review as I'm checking out today and I'm so happy I got to stay here. Probably on my top 3 hotels I've stayed at in waiks. The location, convenience, service, and amenities make this hotel super memorable. Room is clean, there's only 9 floors, live music nightly, free coffee service at the pool in the morning, ice machine, free filtered water, free parking 2 blocks down, free WiFi, daily linen and trash pickup made our stay so comfortable. The price of our stay was very fair. Check the email for booking/email specials! TYSM Surfjack Highlights: -small fridge in room and microwave available by request! -hour front desk service -complimentary upgrade to 1 bdr suite -Byrd brand shower products that smell awesome -dog friendly, we got to see the actual dog JACK! Tips: -no lotion provided, bring yours if needed. Also not a deal breaker as I'd stay here over and over again.

Yelp
Can I give them 100 stars??! From our arrival to departure, I cannot express just how wonderful our stay at the Surfjack was. I found it after a quick google search for hotels in Waikiki that didn't have those absurd resort fees or ridiculous overnight parking prices - not only did I find a cost effective option, but I was very happy to discover I didn't sacrifice quality at all. The Surfjack exceeded my expectations in every way - $10 a night parking (the lowest you will find on the island!!!! Competitiors are going at $60-$70 a night!), no resort fees, impeccable taste in decor that highlights a midcentury modern era of Hawaii, full size toiletries (they use Byrd!! A favorite of mine as an OC resident), above and beyond customer service, very well maintained high traffic areas (pool was regularly being cleaned as were hallways, elevators, etc.), an on-site coffee shop (wish it opened at 6 instead of 7 but that was fine), a cold water refilling station, reef safe sunscreen dispensers, so many fun on site activities (think yoga, markets, pool zumba, etc.) and despite not bringing our dog, it is completely dog-friendly (and still manages to be impeccably clean!) which we loved. They also have the most adorable hotel mascot named Jack! I love finding new boutique hotels to stay at on my travels and The Surfjack will now be my home away from home. I can't recommend it enough and I will only be staying here when I'm back on the island. I wish I stayed here my last trips!! Mahalo to everyone at The Surfjack for providing the best amenities and service. A hui hou!

Yelp
We had a wonderful staycation at this lovely hotel. From the moment we checked we were amazed by how much Aloha we received from every single employee from this fine establishment. At the front desk Hailey greeted us and offered an upgrade to celebrate our wedding anniversary! She was very sweet and professional. She explained the billing process and how the parking system works. We had our pup so it was convenient that part of the in house restaurant is dog/pet friendly. The service was great and the food was so ono. The highlight of the evening was the fresh oyster! I'm a huge fan of these delicious delicacy and these were the best I've ever had! We also received a 15% discount off our bill for staying at the hotel! We highly recommend this fantastic establishment on your next vacation in Waikiki!

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't come across to write a review about this place yet. On my first visit to HNL, this was the hotel we ended up staying in. It's located in Waikiki, relatively close to the beach (about a 5-10 minute walk). The vibes remind me of something like the Ace hotel. The rooms were cute and most of them had a patio, which was really great. The staff were really nice too. This hotel is also pet-friendly, although I think there's a fee. Last of all, and most importantly! There was free parking when we stayed, y'all! This is extremely hard to come by in Waikiki! For the price and location, this is definitely a good spot to consider for a trip to HNL.

Yelp
We had an incredible stay here! They even upgraded our room to a large suite. The decor was awesome. Loved hanging poolside in the evening with live music, and in the morning with my latte from arvo. The only downside is as I am a gecko, there were no bugs for me to eat. I instead had to buy dessert from mahina and sons but it was 10/10 delicious

Yelp
This is the greatest hidden gem hotel in Waikiki, hands down. My wife and I are locals here in Hawai'i and we came here for a staycation with our dogs... oh yeah, they accept dogs!!! The decor of the rooms have an excellent art deco inspired concept and the lobby has the best layout around the pool. Honestly, this is one of the best vibes I've ever felt at a hotel. For real.

Yelp
Good stay so far. Good location, parking option is great. Wish there was one site laundry.

Yelp
Pros: - if you are looking to be close to the hustle and bustle this hotel is close walking distance to the marketplace and a lot of nightlife - Guest experience/customer service: there was not one time that I walked in when I wasn't greeted with a smile. The front desk was super friendly and provided a lot of information. service - loved that Arvo was connected to it and you get a slight discount. The drinks at Mahina & Sons that was connected was nice too, really friendly bartenders that had good recommendations. Cons: - even though parking is $10/Day, it felt pretty inconvenient to have to walk 2-3 blocks to the garage and worry about getting your ticket validated whenever you leave. If you lose your ticket you're out another $45 dollars - noise levels: the compromise of the location is constant motorcycles and noise at night when you're trying to sleep. - pillows are really hard, I woke up with neck pain everyday. While there was a stain on one of my beds, I did find that housekeeping came in everyday to tidy things up and clean, even though I didn't request it like front desk advised I should.

Yelp
Amazing last minute find while hopping to and from the different islands. Small boutique hotel with a cool, hip vibe. Check-in and bar staff was very personable and offered complimentary pineapple mimosas. Room high up, with a view of the pool, spacious and reflected a nice, renovated touch with thoughtful items offered during stay - canvas shopping bag, Bryd products (love the shampoo and conditioner). A local duo played retro pop and R & B tunes with a local island acoustic flair. Centrally located to all the shops, beach, yet tucked away to enjoy a quiet evening. Mahalo!

Yelp
We did a one night stay in Waikiki since I am working in town this week. I chose the Surfjack Hotel. Located on Lewers street in Waikiki. It reminds me of a quaint bed and breakfast spot. They don't have parking but you can park at Hyatt Centric Hotel for $10. For 24 hours. Surjack is very close to the International Marketplace. It's also 10 min walk to the beach. The staff here is courteous, attentive and knowledgeable about the nightlife in Waikiki. Our room was simple, yet relaxing. Plush bed that I snuggled down in like a long winters nap. I woke up refreshed and ready to take on the world . They have live music every night from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. This is also the time that the adult- only pool is open. They have cabanas and comfy lounge chairs. They have a restaurant and bar. I believe it's called Lanai. I stopped by to peek at the menu. I love how Surjack's decor is all vintage surfboards, a surf fin rack and some radical pictures of local surfers in the barrel. John John Florence, Michael Ho, Kai Lenny & Mark Healy. We took an early morning walk. It was so quiet and peaceful. Definitely til be back in the near future for a real staycation.

Yelp
We recently stayed at the Surfjack Hotel during our 7-day trip to Hawaii and had a mostly positive experience. We chose this hotel primarily for its free parking and the absence of amenity fees, which is a rare find in Waikiki and helped us stick to our budget. PROS: - Free Parking: This was a significant perk for us, as many hotels in the area charge hefty fees for parking. Having free parking made it convenient for us to explore the island at our own pace without worrying about additional costs. It is an 8 minute walk from the hotel (located at the Hyatt Centric's parking garage) but it wasn't too bad and there was always parking available throughout the day. - Comfortable Rooms: The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. The bedding was cozy, and the amenities provided were sufficient for a pleasant stay. - Friendly Staff: The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They provided us with excellent local recommendations and ensured that our stay was comfortable. It was raining most of the days we were there and they had umbrellas for us to use! - No Amenity Fees: The lack of amenity fees was a huge bonus. It's refreshing not to be hit with hidden charges upon arrival. - Pool Area: The pool was great! It's small but very relaxing and clean. After 5:30pm, it's adult swim (no kids allowed) and they play live music every night from 6-9pm - Water Station; they have a water station available for you to refill your water bottles! CONS: - Room Size: The rooms were a bit on the small side. We booked the bungalow style room. While they were comfortable, a bit more space would have been appreciated, especially for a week-long stay. - Noise Levels: It could get quite noisy in the hallways at times. We could hear other guests walking and talking, which occasionally disrupted our relaxation. Light sleepers might find this to be a significant downside. - No outside food or drinks: They won't allow you to eat or drink outside food or drinks in their patio areas which sucks Overall, our stay at the Surfjack Hotel was enjoyable. The pros definitely outweighed the cons for us, and we appreciated the value it offered. If you're looking for a stylish hotel with excellent staff, free parking, and no hidden fees, the Surfjack Hotel is a solid choice. Just be prepared for the possibility of some hallway noise and slightly smaller room sizes.

Yelp
Oh boy, I really wanted to LOVE this place. I had a two night stay last week. I stayed in a king bungalow on the 7th floor, very nice, cute, clean room. Checked in early so had to wait a little while for my room to be ready, which was fine. They kindly stored my luggage for me. The hotel and pool area is super cute, and the smell they have pumping out constantly is very nice. I could see how it would irritate someone with scent issues but that was not me. It was the best smelling hotel I've ever stayed at. This is a dog friendly hotel which was also fine, no issues with that. They have a filtered water station & reef safe sunscreen for your use. Very nice touch as well as the complimentary coffee in the morning. They also have a musician nightly by the pool from 6:30-9:00. That was fun. There is also complimentary parking but it's a ways away. I wouldn't say it's close. As a solo traveling female, I wouldn't feel safe walking back to the hotel late at night after parking. Now for the negatives that I knocked 2 stars off for. They have a no outside food or drink policy in the pool area, cabana's & tables. The only place you can eat & drink outside food and beverages is in your room. They want you only ordering from their restaurant & bar Mahina & Suns. I've never experienced this before and I've stayed in many, many hotels. While I was waiting for my room to be ready, I walked to the ABC store next door and got a salad. Sat by the pool area and was going to eat my lunch and they said my room was ready which was really nice but then proceeded to go over the hotel policies, which meant I couldn't have my salad there. To me, it's just a petty way to do things. I might have gone to the restaurant for a cocktail or meal but not after finding out about that policy. I didn't find the staff as friendly as I'd hoped and I had friend coming over to visit as they live on the island, I requested a third chair for the room, they said someone would bring it. They never did so I just grabbed a chair from one of the cabana's. I don't think I would stay here again mainly because of their food & drink policy and the not so warm & welcoming feel.

Yelp
While I usually avoid Waikiki due to the influx of haoles, I decided to give it a shot due to the last min accommodations I needed for this trip. As soon as I walked in I immediately noticed the decor which was a mid century modern and the chill vibe that came along with it. Here's my list of +/- PROS: - FREE PARKING!!!! (For 1 car) - cute decor and furnishings in the room - high quality toiletries (during my stay, we had Byrd products in the shower) - free coffee downstairs in the morning - live music in the swim club/lobby every night - great little coffee shop attached to the hotel - free sunscreen and water in the lobby CONS: - one of the elevators broke during our stay. Getting up and down from the 7th floor to the hotel lobby was a big pain in the morning as housekeeping is also using the elevators to go up/down. Had to climb up and down 7 flights of stairs at least 3 times as elevator was too full with housekeeping carts to fit hotel guests - you're not allowed to eat "outside" food anywhere but in your room as the downstairs is all considered the swim club, we got kicked out because we wanted to listen to the live music but had our own lunch plates with us--they should consider designating an area downstairs for hotel guests to enjoy lounging

Yelp
Let me start by saying I would not recommend this place. I was initially interested because of the positive reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor, but after I arrived, I had a completely different feeling. Arrival was fine, and the front desk staff were nice. Upon getting the key, my wife and I went up to our room and opened the door to a dusty room and tape around the shower pipes. What I saw in photos and on their website was not what I arrived to. To make matters worse, after sitting on a long flight, my wife and I went to grab a bite with the thought of enjoying our meal outside by the water. Two to three minutes into our meal, we were greeted by a staff member telling us we could not eat any food outside unless it were from their place. Now, I've stayed at my fair share of high-end and standard hotels, and this is the first time I've experienced this. To make matters worse, our room was tiny, and we didn't have a chair inside or a table to enjoy our meal. Moreover, the establishment doesn't even serve three courses throughout the day. For example, their restaurant is not open for breakfast, so if you want to enjoy coffee and a pastry by the pool, anything you get from outside has to be enjoyed in your room or offsite. When I approached the representative at the service desk, I knew that my complaint was not the first based on the reaction. Needless to say, we only stayed one night, and I booked another hotel the same day. I would never come nor recommend this place.

Yelp
Talk about the aloha spirit. We were warmly welcomed by a very outgoing young lady. She explained everything we needed to know about the hotel and then led us to the bar to get some complimentary pineapple juice or champagne. The room is comfortable and cool. The pool is the centerpiece of the hotel. It is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Convenient and friendly. The coffee shop is extraordinary.

Yelp
During a brief three night stint in Waikiki/Honolulu, a local friend (shout-out to Terry K!) recommended this newly renovated hotel. Like many lodging options, this was previously a motel or apartments but converted into a more boutique setting. After looking at the photos and pricing of other nearby hotels, I was sold on The Surfjack. We entered the adorable surf-inspired lobby and were welcomed by Shepherd at the front desk. He led us to the bar for a complimentary glass of champagne or pineapple juice as we read over the hotel policies and final preparations were made to the room. Little did we know that they were surprising us with an ice cold bottle of bubbly as an anniversary gift waiting for us in our room. Mahalo! We had booked the one bedroom suite which was very spacious and ideal for two people. Our room views overlooked the pool and buildings of downtown Waikiki. There were all the amenities of a mini fridge, safe, swim club tote, USB charging outlets and flat-screen TVs. I fell in love with their hand+face soap made with chaga, aloe, honey and gardenia--so much that I requested extra as souvenirs from the desk. The Surfjack has such a young, hip vibe that surrounds the iconic "Wish You Were Here!" pool, yet with walkability to the beach and downtown Waikiki. The lobby is open air with one of the top dinner spots in town (Mahina & Son's, psst make a reservation in advance via OpenTable), a fashionable Banks Journal shop and coffeehouse. They serve coffee from here in the morning, but also have complimentary, reef-safe sunscreen and filtered water. Not to mention, they include free nearby nightly garage parking for one car and often waive the resort fee that many other places charge $50+ a night. What more could you want?!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for five nights to celebrate our honeymoon and first time visiting Oahu. I found this hotel from multiple YouTube videos and decided it had the best deal for us! Some pros to choosing surfjack: - free parking (huge money saver!!!) - free coffee station - free filtered hot/cold water - free sunscreen I appreciated the free upgrade we got to a suite to celebrate our honeymoon, the room was extremely spacious on a high floor.. but unfortunately came with a lot of cons: - our upgraded room was next to the elevator, which was a high traffic area and we ended up using bath towels to cover the gap under the door to reduce sound - the room smelled dusty, as if it had been empty and not cleaned in a while - there were peanuts under the dresser in the living room tv that was left by previous dirty guests and this made us feel uneasy that the housekeeping service lacked attention to detail when cleaning the rooms - my phone accidentally fell under the couch on our last night and I had to get down on my knees to grab it and the floor under the couch was disgusting We wore indoor slippers the entire stay because I can tell the bathroom, living room, and bedroom floors were dirty. The bed and pillows were also uncomfortable and we tossed and turned the first couple of nights during our way. We ended up buying NyQuil at the store to help us fall asleep here. You can hear your neighbors upstairs so bring earplugs. The best part of the stay was the shower, it's an amazing shower and probably the best experience we have had during our entire honeymoon of Airbnb and hotel hopping. The shower head here is unmatched. When we checked out of surfjack, we checked into The Laylow next. From experience, if you're here for vacation and debating on staying here to save on costs... it is worth the investment to skip Surfjack and stay at The Laylow instead. It's a bit more pricey but you get what you pay for. You also don't need to pay the $60/valet at The Laylow, park at Hyatt Centric for $45/day. If you won't be in your room much and don't mind the boutique style hotels with rooms that may not be well maintained - then definitely stay here and save money.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here. Surfjack hotel had a very cute esthetics and had a coffee shop at the entrance (which I absolutely loved.) The rooms were really clean. The pool was also nice and appeared heated (I went in at night) which was amazing. There's also a bar/ restaurant next to the pool. I had some drinks which were delicious! They also have live music by the pool on certain days which we all enjoyed. All staff I encountered during my stay were extremely friendly and welcoming. Overall, I think this is a great hotel to stay at.

Yelp
We come to Oahu fairly frequently but this was our first visit to the Surfjack and it was great! We were traveling with friends and needed 3 bedrooms (one with two separate beds), and this was the perfect set-up for us! We booked the 3 bedroom suite, which was awesome! It's basically a 2 bdrm suite with an adjoining room, so it becomes a 3 bdrm. The adjoining room connects to one of the bedrooms, so just fyi, they will have to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the common area. As others have said, highlights for our party were: - FREE PARKING (unheard of in waikiki! it is a few blocks down, but it's free)!! - FREE coffee in the am - Hydration station with hot and cold water - Live music (although we never made in back in time for this) - Mini fridge in the room - Microwave and kettle for free upon request Also, Whitney at the front desk is AMAZING!!! She was so helpful during our entire stay and even after when I had some questions about our final bill - thank you, Whitney! Your aloha spirit is real! Oh! We ended up not checking in early, but I had called that morning to see if we could check in early since we were moving from another hotel and they said our room was ready and that we could check in anytime, so extra stars for that, too! :) Mahalo Surfjack!

Yelp
What the heck -- 5 stars! What a phenomenal experience at Surfjack's in Waikiki! The place has nailed the cool Hawaiian bar aesthetic. It's like stepping onto the set of a classic Hawaiian-themed film, complete with live music and 50's era movies projected onto the wall. Trendy, chic, and teeming with aloha spirit, the hotel it's housed in echoes the same vibe. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: they're bar-special! For just $20, you can grab a pizza and two full pints of beer (Maui Brewing!) The value on offer here is simply tremendous! The pizza alone was so delightful, I wouldn't have blinked at paying $15 for it solo; paired with 2 beers for an extra $5 was a no brainer. But the delights of Surfjack's don't end at the food. The bartenders were absolutely fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and knowledgable. Their cocktails were very unique, delicious, and expertly crafted. They made the overall experience even more enjoyable. In a nutshell, Surfjack's is where great food, value, service, and ambience come together to create a little piece of paradise in the heart of Waikiki. So, grab a slice of pizza, sit back with a cold pint, and soak it all in!

Yelp
Pros: Amazing shower: it feels like a 100 ft waterfall pounding your shoulders in! A waterfall that is hot and fresh, I should add! Jack: the hotel mascot is a gregarious rolly-polly bulldog. He is a lovable bowling ball of joy! Cons: Rooms are really, really cramped. Expect to say 'scuse me to anyone staying with you, constantly. The photography on the website, of the rooms, is incredible. They look a LOT different in person. Morning coffee tasted off. Still a great value for this part of town, I would stay here again.

Yelp
The hotel is very unique and we liked the activities, live music etc. Great staff, great check in experience, all the things you want. The restaurant was AMAZING, great food great service. We will be back for the restaurant alone. We were a little surprised at the dated rooms, they need a little TLC. Small eclectic rooms, small (but VERY comfortable) beds. My major complaint would be the dogs. We are dog lovers; however, many people were keeping their dogs in kennels on the lanais, so when one dog starts barking at 11pm or 5am, they all sound off. We were never able to sleep for more than 3-4 hours without dogs barking. I think if the dogs were inside with their owners, our stay would have been at least 4 stars

Yelp
I stopped by to catch up with a friend while she was staying here, and while I was waiting, I decided to check out the coffee shop. The barista was really engaged and talked with me while she meticulously made me one of the best hot lattes I've had in a long time! It was a very balanced drink that was a drinkable temperature even with the day warming up! The atmosphere at the coffee shop really set the mood for my visit. The vibe and the aesthetic of the hotel, the coffee shop, and the restaurant are all really great! I will definitely be coming back again for the coffee, and even for a stay here!

Yelp
Received as our 10th anniversary gift from our daughter. Beautiful place, pet friendly. Glasses in room were made from cut wine bottles, night live music, poolside dining. Dimming light switches, USB charging on outlet, cabanas, complementary morning coffee. Open air dining, All staff are very accommodating. Very proactive. Offered services to us we didn't know existed. We loved the low density vibe of the place. No hawking commercialization at every corner. Excellent choice to getaway from today's rushing stressful pace. Always tried to escape to North Shore or outer islands, but still felt rushed. NOT HERE. Just can't stop raving about being so laid back. Minus the airfare and airport. This can be our future escape route. Shoreline is only a couple blocks away if we wanted to hit the beach or get the tourist life.

Yelp
With all the awards Surfjack claimed to have received on its website and all the positive Yelp reviews, booked a 2 BR unit for $500 a night. Staff was great. Very loud with a bar/restaurant right below. Active area of Waikiki with lots of cops and sirens and people yelling in the middle of the night. Guess "boutique hotel" means dated, renovated old hotel in this case. Worst of all, for $500 a night these are the drapes/curtains I got.

Yelp
The surf jack has always been a great place for the senior group to dance first Saturday of every month The crowd is primarily 50 plus age group This Saturday we had young lady that was the girl friend Of the Disc Jockey The more she drank the more Her dance became embarrassing, lifting her shirt Pulling up her skirt It really makes the mood change Of the dance floor when the Disc jockeys are egging her on to basically pole Dance. We always love the surf jack it's a great place for food and Drink And the Dancing . But if he want to see pole dancers We will go somewhere else. Please have the Disc Jockeys energize the crowd for fun dancing NOT Spear on his girl to flash everyone and make people Uncomfortable

Yelp
Always in the Spring is when we'll normally try to find a way to staycation. Being fresh "out of", not quite though, pandemic - stay at home - new normal days... we weren't sure if we really wanted to brave the tourist hot spots. We also have a new fur-grandpup and I refused to be without my furbaes. There was a lot of anxiety thinking about doing this staycation, period. The commercials kept popping up. Surf Jack, any dog, any size. My guy took it as a sign (like he does with many things that he wants) and booked it. I wasnt expecting much since it was a pet friendly hotel. I cant recall ever being in one before so I had no idea what to expect. Little did I know, it would be a nice getaway for all of us, pets included! Of course, no pets in the pool. But everywhere else we went, so did the furbaes go too! My pets are very clean and potty trained so I would hope the others are as well. Theres no carpet in the rooms, makes for easier clean up, I'm sure. The hotel overall was pretty clean. There weren't any areas of the hotel that made me think it was dirty, esp for being filled with dogs! That was a very pleasant surprise. No smell in the rooms or anywhere. No fur or messes either. It also wasnt as noisy as I thought it'd be. You could hear dogs here and there but nothing excessive or annoying. The walls were pretty thin and our room had a door that probably could join the next room. So, we could kind of hear each others conversations lol. Towels, ice bucket, mini fridge, TV, drawers/closet, alarm clock, AC, ceiling fan, hair dryer, balcony and I think a clothes steamer. All nice things to include in the rooms. Ground level is nice. Front desk, coffee shop, pool, lounge, bar/restaurant, bathrooms, ice machine. We had such a nice relaxing time at the pool and lounging nearby. The pool was CLEAN. It looked clean, and I saw the cleaning take place one morning lol. While sitting at the tables, workers came by to wipe down a couple of times. That was reassuring. I ordered from the bar/restaurant while chilling in the pool. We also had dinner there one night. Good stuff, I recommend. Thursdays till 9pm Kelly boy is playing live. Cant remember what I was doing but I had to stop, find a seat and just listen. Now that was very nostalgic! Parking in Waikiki is always gonna be tough. It's either pay out the wazoo, fight on the Ala Wai, or pay on street per 2 hrs. We got a key card for hotel parking but it's about 2 blocks away at Centric/Nordstrom Rack. We dropped our things at the front and pretty much walked every chance we could. Every staff we encountered were awesome. Friendly and accommodating. They offered to help with baggage. Always greeted when we passed. If I'm not mistaken, I think they can walk your dog for you too. There's poop bags at the front. Water dispenser and sunscreen by the pool. Even hand sanitizer stations. The room shower was stocked with full sized pumps of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I mean, I dont think I couldve asked for more. What started out filling me with anxiety, turned into very precious moments with my lil ohana. I am so glad we had this beautiful experience at the Surf Jack. We're all refreshed (safely! ).

Yelp
I stayed here back in 2018 and had a great time there. It was newly built at the time. The staff was friendly and the decor is super cute and relaxed. love the pools "Wish you were here.." makes for a cute post for your social media. I thought the location was nice, walking distance to a small cute musubi spot and other quick grabs before the beach.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay as a larger family. Love the vibe. Easy to get to places all over the island. Service was amazing. Parking was a nice and used perk for sure. They have some beach chairs and towels to use as well. Will stay again for sure

Yelp
The place was so cool! I had so Much fun dancing the night away. I went on Saturday night 6:00-10:00pm and it was 60-80s disco night. You have headphones to listen to the music, but if you don't want to wear them, you can still hear the music playing softly so not to disturb the neighbors. They have happy hour during that time as well and they serve food too. They have tables you can reserve in advance, some are by the pool.

Yelp
The hotel is a refurbished building near the always canal so expect tiny and stale smelling elevators, creaky flooring, shotty light switches and outlets, and poor water pressure. There's free parking but it's in a different hotel blocks away. However, I did enjoy my stay. It's obvious that they took care in designing with the vintage postcards, handmade soaps, projector movies, and live entertainment nightly by the pool.

Yelp
We are local and wanted to do a staycation in Waikiki for my birthday weekend. From check-in to check-out, everyone was very hospitable. We got to bring our dog since it's a pet-friendly hotel, and he had a comfortable time. For those looking to relax, unwind, and recharge, this is your spac! It's close to everything for tourists, as well as near lots of great food (including their own Mahina & Sun's).

Yelp
I loved my stay at the Surfjack. My friend booked us into this hotel for a week. She chose this hotel because it did not have extra resort fees and included free parking. We were so glad that she booked this place! The hotel itself has so much character. The decor is modern surf themed. I feel like I've walked into a 1960s surfer movie. The rooms were spacious and clean. We had a king suite with a pull out couch between the 3 of us. The bed was a bit hard and the pillows limited but the space was still comfortable The staff were all great. Everyone seems happy and helpful. Highlights of our stay: - all of the activities including movie nights with popcorn - live music every night with really talented musicians - beach towels, reef sage sunscreen and chairs available to use for free - delicious coffee at the cafe downstairs - the Trinidad Sour cocktail at the bar (avoid if you are allergic to magic). Overall, I would not hesitate to book and stay at this hotel again in the future

Yelp
Love! The Surfjack Hotel is an amazing place with great charm. The restaurant, one of Ed Kenny's, called Mahina and Sons, is absolutely fabulous. The room we had was clean, had a full lanai wrapping two sides with two sliding doors (full 90° angle), a fridge with complimentary items and wine, great local products to use, super comfortable and quiet. It is a bit off the ocean, maybe two blocks, but that is great so you are not right in the main busy strip. Great kamaaina deals and wonderful people! Along the pool, there is complimentary water indused with fruit, and coffee! Love, love, love!!

Yelp
Stayed here a year ago with some two friends to send off one moving to the Mainland. We were really excited for the two bedroom setup so that each of us could sleep in our own bed with one on the couch. However, when we opened up the hideaway bed on the couch, there were termites all over! We were so grossed out and checked all the rooms, thankfully they were only in the couch but that ruined our experience. Front desk were just a bunch of apathetic teenagers who did not care about providing good service or helping. I do not recommend this hotel to any friends visiting the island or looking for a Kama'aina stay because of this now.

Yelp
Cozy little retro hotel, with a well-planned menu...farm to table, and scrumptious cocktails

Yelp
"Wish You Were Here!" The iconic pool in paradise is located at the Surfjack Hotel in Waikiki! Isn't it cool?? The catch phrase is literally tiled into the bottom of the pool. I've never seen anything like this before!! The Surfjack is one of the few hotels on the island of Oahu that accommodates large dogs -AND- is TLA (Temporary Lodging Allowance) approved for military families scheduled to PCS (Permanent Change of Station) on orders. Since the Navy Lodge was fully booked during our requested timeframe, a CNA (Certificate of Non-Availibilty) was obtained to look and book elsewhere. That was Pre-COVID. By the time the end of May came around, hotel cancellations were happening across the island (and the world!). So, the Navy brought us back to the Navy Lodge at Ford Island, which was our preferred location, but the idea of floating in the "Wish You Were Here!" pool was on my bucket list! Well, I guess this just means I'll just have to come back, because even if we did stay here, the pool was probably off limits due to social distancing. Thank you to the staff at Surfjack who helped us over the phone and in person. Very accommodating and understanding of our situation!

Yelp
If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! An awesome hotel, with great service. We enjoyed good music and desserts at the poolside, and were upgraded to a nice big room. We only stayed for one night, but was a great start to a fun trip in Honolulu

Yelp
The 3 stars consist of the following reasons. 1. The front desk staff, bellman, & maintenance team. (Great service!) 2. The chef at Mahina & suns restaurant. Food is delicious. 3. The body wash, shampoo & water pressure in the shower. Would have been a 5 star review however we minus 2 stars for the following reasons. 1. Lisa night manager and bartender Chris at Mahina & suns. Not so pleasant and welcoming. As a guest of the hotel, there's a certain standard of service that should be applied. I did not feel appreciated or cared for during my dining experience. It's a very good thing the food was amazing or my trip would have been ruined from this experience alone. 2. No parking or valet. I had to park our car 2 blocks away at another hotel with a horrible parking structure.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stayed at the surfjack for a long weekend, and were greeted by Shepherd and Tiki who were excellent throughout our stay. They were kind, thoughtful, and ultimately made our experience so much better. Thank you, Shepherd and Tiki!! I would 100% recommend staying at the surfjack, especially if you have dogs! Oh, and other reviewers mentioned this but the shower water pressure really is divine.

Yelp
My husband and I were pcsing off island and stayed with surf jack for 5 nights. I honestly don't have enough good things to say about this place. The staff was absolutely PHENOMENAL those who are military and have pcsed know how much luggage you have. We had a total of ten bags/totes and they were not light. We weren't sure what to expect when we pulled up in our rental packed full of luggage and our two dogs. We were greeted with smiling faces and helping hands. They take ALL of your luggage up to you room for you. They give you a paper that has all the info you need on it when you check in. To say they are dog friendly is truly an understatement. They were so friendly and loving to the dogs it was such a sigh of relief. Not only that, but they don't charge a nightly pet fee OR a pet cleaning fee. While we were searching for a TLA approved hotel, we came across so many that not only charged upwards of 250$ non refundable pet cleaning fee, but a night rate of 35$ PER pet. Surf jack? Nothing. No pet fees at all. AND they provide poop bags not to mention little watering stations through out the property. We get up to our room, that had a private lanai (we unfortunately didn't get to really use it due to have so many totes, we had to put some in the lanai), and was set up absolutely adorably. The only "negative" thing is have to put is the rooms are pretty small. Even with just my husband and I and two dogs it was a little crammed. However, if we had a normal travelers amount of luggage I believe it would have been just fine! Let's talk bathroom! I don't know about y'all but most times when I am at a hotel the water pressure is next to nothing. Not here. NOT HERE. The water pressure was absolutely amazing. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided smelt absolutely phenomenal. They even provide you with this adorable little tote bag to use during your stay. It's perfect to take down to the pool or with you on your walk to the beach. The food! So our first night there, we were exhausted. We had just cleared housing and we're just done for the day. We got checked in, bags brought up, got the dogs settled, and then decided to order food. We ordered a side of fries and a pizza. Let me tell you... the fries. So freaking good! Their pizza was really good as well! We also ordered some drinks. I ordered just a plain lemonade and my husband got one of their lemonade cocktails. Some of the best lemonade I have ever had. Our first morning I decided to go down after letting the dogs out and order some breakfast. I ordered their malted waffle and another one of their delicious lemonades. When I say that waffle was one of the best waffles I've ever had... let's just say I ordered it all but one morning we were there. The homemade whipped cream they put in top *chefs kiss*. I'm not sure what his name was, but the gentleman that works behind the bar was absolutely phenomenal. He was always so friendly and even gave recommendations on what to do around the hotel. There is also a little coffee shop that is attached to the hotel. Super cute little place with really good coffee (I'm sorry I can't think of the name of it). They have something going on almost every night. One thing they DO have every night is a live performer. The music was phenomenal every night we were there. We never ended up eating anything but breakfast there but the dinner set up always looked very relaxing. While this place gets 5 stars, there were a few cons that we discovered during our stay. You can hear literally everything I didn't take any stars for this because it's downtown. You are bound to hear traffic through the night. There were a few guests right next to us whose dogs would NOT stop barking. There was some mold in the bathroom on the ceiling, however it was very minimal. The parking ( if you have a vehicle over 6' you will 100% scrap the top of your vehicle in the garage. That spot is the only free parking they offer so we did have to pay for parking at the hale koa just down the road. The staff/drink consistency. Like I said above the gentleman who was there in the morning majority of our stay was phenomenal. However a couple of the mornings there was a young lady working there. She was SO nice and friendly, however the lemonade I had ordered that was made by her was not even close to the ones I had ordered previous mornings. To be honest it tasted like very strong lemon water. Now that said her customer service was great ever time we had her. All in all I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Especially if you are military and or traveling with pets!

Yelp
We had a great staycation for my birthday and my wife got the much needed rest that she needed. Everything here was great. Upon checking in they upgraded our room from a "one room bungalow" to a "one bedroom suite" which was awesome. There were TWO TVs, yes I said it TWO TVs!! If you've ever been married for a while you know how cool this is. Martha was able to have the gigantic sofa to herself and make a pillow nest so she was totally comfortable watching her TV in the living room while I watched what I wanted to in the bedroom. The hotel even sent up champagne which was a first for us. [BATHROOM] The shower was beyond awesome!! You could have both the shower head AND the handheld shower head on at the same time!! Plus the complementary Devines shampoo, conditioner & body wash was so nice that I'm already thinking of ordering some. [RELAXATION] Even though our side was next to a garage next door we couldn't hear any noise coming in from outside. The blackout curtains were great for sleeping in.
