Surfside West Diner

I recently visited Surfside Diner and had a pretty good experience. The food was decent, though it could use a bit more seasoning to really elevate the flavors. On the other hand, the service was absolutely fantastic! The environment was welcoming, and I really appreciated how all the servers worked together to make the experience special. I’d definitely recommend it for the great service and atmosphere!

During the final day of our family vacation in Wildwood, New Jersey, we decided to dine at Serf Side West Diner. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the hostess with a friendly smile. Our server was not only courteous but also incredibly helpful in guiding us through the menu, especially regarding allergy-friendly options for our son. My husband and I visited this humble diner, while visiting the crest ! We were greeted with huge smiles from all the staff , the owner visited every table to see if his customers were satisfied and our experience was definitely outstanding and food was Delicious -cooked properly - and perfect temperature - We returned the next morning before heading home to enjoy another delicious breakfast, the staff even took time out of their busy schedule to sing Happy Birthday to my husband Thank you Michael John’s We will come again

There's a lot of breakfast places in Wildwood I wouldn't recommend this one because the food is just not all that great I had cinnamon raisin French toast it was literally French toast sprinkled with late raisins and cinnamon could have mixed a cinnamon into the batter and gave it overall more effort. We had to send our coffee back more than once because it was sitting on the burner and it was burnt. Most likely will not be returning.

Fantastic authentic 60’s diner with original decor! The wait staff was funny and the owners even came out to check on us. Excellent breakfast with some unique menu items and classic faves! We will be back!

Nice breakfast spot with great friendly service. Quick stop for breakfast. It's your standard breakfast spot but the servers make you feel at home.

Eh below average diner in my opinion. French toast was ok, eggs and home fries were about average for a diner. Chocolate milk was great though.

Surfside West is the nemesis of very other breakfast spot in Wildwood because their breakfast is so delicious and their service so superior that you don't want to eat anywhere else. I had the seasonal cherry pancakes and they were phenomenal. Another in my party had the crab manchego omelet, which came with a crispy potato ball on the side - divine. Don't miss out. I hear their top-notch pumpkin pancakes will be back for Labor Day.

It was our first time here a few weeks ago (mid May). We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 9. All of the staff were so friendly! I love when people are personable! Food came out quickly and was hot! The diner is clean and truly old school in the best way possible!! We lived it and are looking forward to going back!

I'm really surprised by the excellent reviews. The omelet was paper thin, the hasbrowns were frozen shredded potatoes that weren't cooked and had a bad taste. The employees were very nice. Just a few more bits of info...Average price per person with tax and tip is 20$ pp, they include 18% gratuities for parties of 6 and more.

Breakfast or lunch at the family owned and meal prepared by family or staff that has been employed at Surfside since high school. Everything on the menu is prepared fresh and served hot always. You can't go wrong eating at Surfside West!!

Omg. Love this place. An old style diner but clean and well appointed. I called to see if there was a wait at 11:30 on a Friday, and some guy answered "hello?" No wait and when we arrived, Mike, the owner asked if I had called and I gave him crap (jokingly) about how he answered. We had a laugh and a wonderful conversation about the history of the place. A very charming and friendly owner. The Food. I had the peach pancakes and he also sent out a beer pancake that was tomorrow's special for me to try. Both were Sooo good. Wife and kids had omelettes, oh, and creamed chipped beef. To die for. The service was friendly and attentive and the food came out quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have parking and it was just a wonderful experience. Enjoy.

This is a wonderful family owned, family run breakfast restaurant. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding! The homemade waffles were light as air and tasted like vanilla cake! The French fries are the best! The eggs were cooked to perfection! Everything we ordered was delicious! Service was quick. We got our food in less than 15 minutes from ordering. I highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch!

When you want a real shore breakfast, Surfside West Diner is a must! Their menu is large enough to offer something for all, but without being fatiguing. Omelets, pancakes, chipped beef, french toast, you name it. The Taylor Ham is cut thicker and cooked to a light, crispy perfection. I had the peach pancakes (special for the day) and wowza, so good! The perfect blend of sweetness and savoriness. The home fries are of the shredded variety, and seasoned perfectly. I think I met my carbohydrate quota for the day! And they had me at "Diet Pepsi" instead of Diet Coke. Bonus! The waitstaff couldn't be nicer, and the cook even came around to check on everyone. And the restaurant is immaculately clean. Walkable from Schooner Island Marina, too. Hot food and warm vibes!

Great food, service and atmosphere. I love to get up early to catch the sunrise on the beach, and Surfside is one of the few places open before 7 AM. Yummy cheese n mushroom omelette, fantastic vanilla milkshake. (Yes, for breakfast. I'm on my one vacay. )

Always love it here. The food is delicious and fresh. The chef (probably the owner) always, no matter how busy, comes out to check on each table once they get their food. His concern for how you are enjoying your meal is so comforting and warm. The establishment is truly an old fashioned diner with a palate pleasing menu. What a charming little diner we randomly found last morning while on vacation in wildwood nj. As it happens because it's the off season the diner only does breakfast and we came kinda later not knowing this and at no point did we feeel rushed or not welcomed. What great food and even better employees. The owner was such a nice guy. Seems to be a hard worker and passionate for his place of business. The food Was perfect. This is my favorite breakfast place in Wildwood! The owners and staff are so nice and welcoming. The food is delicious and the diner atmosphere is perfect.

Wow. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by all the staff and are wished a great breakfast. The chef, actually came out and told us about the beautiful art piece at the back of the dining hall. His wife, who works here as well, painted the piece and it makes you feel apart of the family. If you're lucky, you can play a game where you search for certain things inside the painting. Look for a cute couple! The food was classic and not overbearing, 10/10. What an amazing way to start the day!

Best breakfast diner in Wildwood. Family owned diner offers great friendly service. Many specialties offered go back years including my favorite Crese omelet, stuffed with stracciatella cheese and cherry tomatoes and topped with pesto sauce.

Want a great place for breakfast? The Surfside is your place. Great place away from the boardwalk to get a filling breakfast. Great staff and lots of families come here. I love to get the sausage sliders with homemade patties. Fantastic service. We always see families here. We make it a stop every year here. You should too.

Great food, good prices, nice staff. From The outside gig can't tell that is an oh metal airstreamish diner, but once inside it's original- super cute The menu has some good variations on favorites - like our egg bowl Omelet had a good pesto sauce. And pistachio French toast. Really good freshly baked buttermilk biscuits. One star removed for a personal experience that our booth was next to the bussers dirty dish bin- and he smashed them in the bins every 3 or 4 minutes. Really jarring my Loud 1 foot from my ears. I know they are busy and have bigger fish to fry (literally) but they could attempt to not crash them quite so aggressively. God, I sound like a big baby. But this place was a perfect diner with that little exception. 5 stars are hard to get in my book. .

I normally do not write reviews but this little diner is to die for. The owners Michael & his wife make this little gem worth the trip. I will eat there again tomorrow morning & the next. Worth the trip!

We were a group of 7 so I called ahead. We were seated immediately. Service was super fast! Our food was out so fast it was as if they knew what we wanted before we ordered. I had the bang bang shrimp omelette. It was delicious!! Everyone loved their meal!!! I was praised for picking a great place!! Thank you Yelp!!!! I definitely recommend this restaurant!!

We are life long Wildwood vacationers. Sometime in North Wildwood; sometime in the Crest. I don't know how we missed this place. We went there for breakfast last year and this year. The place takes me back to my teenage years and breakfast with my parents. The decor and furnishings are definitely old school. For me, it's the only reason I need to revisit. Very friendly and attentive staff. Spotless clean. The menu contains everything you need for a delicious and nourishing breakfast; American classics. They're located in a residential neighborhood giving it a hometown feel.

My favorite thing on the menu are the pancakes. Mike mixes so many delicious thing to the batter. Make sure you order the specials.

Hospitality is always on the menu at the Surfside. Not many places these days offer the trifecta of good food, great service and amazing hospitality. On our last day in Wildwood Crest, my wife said she wanted to see where I disappeared to every morning at 6:30. After meeting owners Michael and Jeanne at breakfast, she finally understood. "Sunnyside up" is how they treat all of their guests. It's so unusual these days to experience that kind of hospitality. What a great place!

We never intended on returning the second day. We picked Surfside because it was closest to our hotel and had great reviews. We loved the friendly staff and the inventive food, which is unusual for a diner. I'm a Greek omelet guy, and this was maybe the best version I've had. Fresh spinach and quality feta and tomatoes. It's a simple meal, but this was somehow better. My wife got the potato croquette with horseradish sauce. Also outstanding! We planned to check out the big diner competitor in town on our second morning, but there was a long line, so we were more than happy to get back to Surfside. It's a small place, and more people should try it. My wife got the Italian Hangover and I got the Wedgie - two more winners! Good coffee, friendly servers and the owners are lovely. You will not regret your breakfast here!

My family of 12 (sibling, parents, nieces and nephews) had our breakfast here at the recommendation of a relative who is a local resident. The service was fast and friendly. The food was great. Loved the macadamia nut French toast. Bacon was crunchy but not over cooked. Green eggs and ham (pesto topping over the egg and ham) got a 5 star vote from my husband. I gave 4 stars due to the not-so juicy and not very tasty burger according to my nephew. Otherwise perfect experience for all! Come and check this place out peeps!

I have been coming to wildwood Crest for my most or my adulthood and have never tried Surfside West Diner. Was meeting a friend for breakfast and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did!!! Service was great. Omelet special was delicious! It was crab and cheese with homemade tomatillo sauce. The sausage was Italian sweet sausage patties which I love. The crisp potato cake was delicious and would definitely get that over regular potatoes anytime. If you are looking for breakfast and don't mind a few minutes wait, definitely worth the visit!!!

A must go. Very unique yummy combinations of food. You will definitely leave there full. Service was amazing and the owner Michael greeted everyone and was like a friend you were happy to see. We just had our first amazing breakfast of summer 2023! The egg white omelette with straccatelli cheese, cherry tomatoes with pesto drizzle was amazing. My friend had the lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries- absolutely delicious. Everyone is so friendly and accomodating. My husband said the breakfast burger he had was outstanding. Great spot in the crest. If you havent't been, you are missing something special.

Surfside West is a classic diner in Wildwood on the Crest's border. I'd assume you're more likely to visit if you're staying nearby, but it does certainly have its selling points as a destination stop. For one, they've been around for decades upon decades (see attached photo of history information). They have plenty of top-notch reviews and host a family-friendly environment. They even display kids' drawings right above the entrance. You're likely to meet the owner as well at some point during your meal. It's your typical mix of booths and tables when you walk in. You can visit for breakfast or lunch, but breakfast seems to be their focus. They close at 1 p.m. daily. Earlier today, our party of four was seated in a booth near the door. Two of us ordered lunch (burgers) while the other two chose breakfast (bacon and eggs). I slightly regretted my decision after seeing the egg plates. They looked seriously delicious! My cuban burger was just okay. I liked the toppings (bacon, cheese, fried egg), but the beef and pork patty itself and accompanying sauce weren't my favorites. I also found it surprising that my plate didn't come with chips or fries, even though the regular burger does come with fries. When I asked about it, my server said it would cost $3.25 extra for fries, which is absurd to me. I went with chips, which she nicely provided for no added charge. Coffee refills were fast, the diner was cute, prices were cheap, and their menu had some interesting sounding options on it. Lemon ricotta pancakes? Wedgie eggs? Yes, please. I'd return for breakfast if I found myself in the area again.

A amazing Memorial Day here in wildwood NJ. Woke up brutally hungover with my friends and wanted to get some breaky. Everywhere was packed and we didn't want to wait so we stumbled upon this place. Upon entrance they made me put a shirt on which was annoying as it was hot and I forgot my shirt at home. We walked in and the place was outdated and smelt like straight piss and cum. We got used to the smell adventually but it wasn't great to eat with. The food was very average and eggs tasted odd. I wouldn't recommend this really due to the price and the small serving sizes. On a good note the service was fast and nice the girl that brought our food out was hot but we only saw her once. I feel bad writing this bad review but it just honestly wasn't great especially with the smell. Overall 2.5/5

A classic taste of the Shore. Our first breakfast of our vacation and it put us in the perfect frame of mind...the place is meticulously maintained, an original diner from the early '60s, spotlessly clean and the lemon ricotta pancakes I had were delicious. Good coffee and it's so nice to see the owner Mike come out to greet his customers and chat a bit. Don't miss this spot.

Went here for breakfast this AM. I'm weird with smells and when we first walked in it smelled ... off. It's also very tight inside. The staff was so, so friendly especially our waitress. If I could rate them on that alone I would give 4/5 stars. My daughter ordered 3 peanut butter pancakes which she said were "ok." Me and my other daughter both ordered 2 scrambled eggs with home fries, toast and bacon. When our food came out we both looked at each other and laughed. Never in my life did I see a tinier breakfast. I feel like a lot of people exaggerate on Yelp but when I tell you there were 4 forkfuls of home fries ... that was it. I was going to ask if maybe we got the kids menu by mistake but I doubt it. The food was warm (not hot) and just ok. But visually plated and portion size ... very, very small. Since we went at 11 maybe they were running out of food? For the portion size with 2 juices at around $45 before tip - issa no for me. Don't come here if you're hungry as this is a very LIGHT breakfast. Everything is expensive in Wildwood, so that's a given. The service was great but food quality and portion size makes this a one and done for us.

We LOVE this place great breakfast dishes and coffee! We had the green eggs and the cajun hangover both were really good. The staff are all really nice people. We ate on the curbside due to covid19 regulations and met John the owner had a nice conversation and are happy to hear they will have temporary outdoor dinning starting next Monday Can't wait to eat here again.

My boyfriend and I came here for a Monday morning, spur of the moment breakfast stop on our way out of Wildwood. There was no issue getting two people seated around 10:30am, but their parking lot was filled so we ended up parking on the street a couple blocks over. I had coffee with skim milk (yay for them having skim since a lot of diners tend to not have it!) and my decaffeinated companion got a glass of apple juice :) We both went for what I would call the "house favorites" marked with a blue dot on their menu. I got the green eggs and ham - eggs were perfectly cooked, stacked with a thick layer of ham and cheese atop hash browns. My favorite thing about it was the homemade pesto drizzled on top, which really worked. My only wish was that the hash browns stayed more crispy, since the weight of the other components seemed to kind of mush/steam them a little. My boo ordered the Wedgie, which consisted of potato wedges with cheese, scrambled eggs and a horseradish sauce that complimented the dish very well. From a value standpoint, prices were very reasonable and our service was A okay. I would recommend this to anyone in the local area looking for a relatively quick and enjoyable breakfast.

I love the old school vibe of this diner. Also the place is spectacularly clean which is difficult in a shore town in the summer. The reason for the 5 stars - the wait staff excellent. The cook even though extremely busy came out to check on everyone as did the hostesses. The food excellent. I had thee best cream chipped beef I have ever eaten and they have a special it comes in a bowl with their potatoes American cheese and a fried egg on top with toast on the side. The challah French toast was really good. They also have old school potato cakes. I will definitely be back - they have earned my continued business I don't know that I have ever given a 5 star for a breakfast spot.

LOVE THIS PLACE! When in town I eat here most days for breakfast. My fav is the mini hangover with side of crispy scrapple. The kitchen is always coming up with really inventive breakfast specials. They have table and counter service. Eating alone? No problem eat at the counter, plenty of conversation! They have off street parking. Family owned and run.

Owners are from a family of diner owners since the early 60's in WW . Current owners stop at each table to see how your meal is and will take the time to explain dishes. Today he explained the way they make their CUBAN BURGER which you must try. It came with a sauce that I can only describe as very tasty and unusual and having the fried egg atop the burger was devine. I've never had a bad meal or experience here. In fact its always been good food with Pleasant service. Tip: only breakfast and lunch.

So we had a great pleasure of meeting owner Micheal. As he told us some history about Surfside, his father opened it on July 4, 1963 ran it with his family. In 1994 his Father Toni passed away on July 4th. So with that being said 4th of July is a very important day in their family.... Thanks for the hospitality!!! If you ever go to Wildwood make sure to stop by Surfside West and try their Green eggs and Ham, everyone that's works there was very nice and friendly. One of my favorite diner in town!!!!

The potato cakes is one small ball of mashed potato that has been deepfried. The price for just one of these things is outrageously high. Also, their breakfast sandwich comes on an English muffin instead of a Kaiser roll. Portions generally very tiny overall. Weird for a diner.

We stopped in for the 1st time for breakfast this morning. We'll be back. Food was really good and the service was the same. Owner was walking around to all the tables checking to make sure everything was good. He was polite and genuinely cares about his establishment and his customers. Super friendly service and delicious food! I ordered the whole wheat pancakes with strawberry butter and a side of chicken sausage. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The pancakes were fluffy and the strawberry butter was amazing. We will definitely be back to try more things.

Great breakfast. All 6 of us enjoyed it. Fluffy waffles, eggs and bacon done perfectly, great pork roll sandwich,. Portions were spot on. Excellent service and very kind staff. Overall, a very good place for breakfast.

One of the best diners I have ever been. Filled with the best staff very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and just all around great place. My husband and I came here for a later breakfast. They serve lunch starting at 11:30a. They have their own parking lot which helps. I cannot wait to go back!!
