I had Surreal Creamery on my list for the longest time, and it was such a letdown! I wavered between 2 or 3 stars, but ultimately decided on 2 because there are better competitors out there, so I do not feel the need to come back here to try something else. This location has no seating area, just a small standing area that can accommodate 1-2 people.
My friend and I split the I Dream of Taro Ice Cream Cake jar ($14.75). Whoever thought of this needs to be fired, because it does not work. I am sure that the ice cream and cake are intended to be enjoyed together, but there is so much ice cream on the top, that you can't really get to the cake without knocking it over. I'm all for their large portion sizes, but I'm not really into having large portions of mediocrity. The flavor of the ice cream was very artificial, which I know some people do enjoy. The cake was dry and desperately needed the ice cream to moisten it up. The idea holds a lot of promise, but the execution fails miserably. If they want to use reusable things, perhaps a square or rectangular tupperware would work so it would be easier to enjoy the ice cream and cake together. If they did this and had a moist and fluffy cake, I could live with the artificial taro flavor. However, as it stands, there is room for improvement.
