Suscettibile Salerno

"Separated by an inner courtyard from a street in the centre of Salerno, this restaurant is a peaceful oasis with comfortable chairs arranged on a modern and stylish veranda (which opens almost completely in summer) and in an equally elegant dining room. Young chef Mario Quarta (born in Battipaglia) combines influences from his native region with techniques learned in renowned restaurants elsewhere in Italy and abroad, including Michelin-starred addresses. The French influence evident in his cooking techniques makes his Campania-focused cuisine even more exciting and contemporary. Our inspector particularly enjoyed the amberjack puttanesca (a seared tuna fillet served with intensely flavoured tomatoes and a delicious sauce). Elegant, professional service completes the picture." - Michelin Inspector

An interesting experience. I chose the chef’s menu with five courses. Each dish was a little piece of art, both in presentation and taste. The portions were quite small, as expected in fine dining. The flavors built up nicely, complementing each other. The dishes were served very quickly, with almost no waiting time between courses. Was it worth 85 euro? I’m not sure, but it was definitely a unique experience.

A Sensory Journey at Suscettibile We had the pleasure of experiencing a 5-course menu at Suscettibile — and every bite was a revelation. Thoughtfully curated, each dish struck a perfect balance between creativity and flavor, showcasing top-tier culinary craft. From the first amuse-bouche to the final dessert, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Service was attentive, warm, and seamless — striking that rare balance of professionalism and personality. To end the night, we enjoyed a digestif under soft lights, letting the evening linger just a little longer. Suscettibile isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a feeling. One we’ll be coming back for.

5 stars for all categories. Service was above and beyond. I really appreciate them taking the time to explain each dish as part of our chefs tasting. I’ve been to a few fine dining restaurants in Italy and it all has the European style service level. Service here was more akin to French and American fine dining. The dishes changes so I won’t comment much on it. Just know each dish was excellent and you’ll leave feeling full. Highly recommend booking reservations. I would return.

We were in Salerno and we picked up this restaurant from the reviews on Google, without great expectations because it seemed a bit posh and uptight. We could not be more wrong. This restaurant is a gem hidden in a inner garden not too far from the sea. The restaurant has an inside room, very clean and cozy with luxury chairs and tables, they have also some tables outside but the room is basically like being outside because the surrounding walls are made of glass and the ceiling is open. The restaurant owner welcomed us kindly and he stayed a bit to chat with us suggesting some spots to visit along the cilentan coast. As for the food there are three options: 2 tasting menus, the first with 6 courses and the second with 5 courses, costing respectively 65 and 55€. Then you can choose a wine pairing for around 35€. The other option is to choose a la carte each dish, but I would recommend a tasting menu. We went for the 6 courses and a Glass of white wine. The menu is focused on seafood and it highlights the products from the surrounding land. We had two appetizers, one was red tuna slices like sashimi with a traditional sauce made out of zucchine called scapece, with mint leaves on top. Then we had marinade anchovies on confit datterino tomatoes, all of this seasoned with an emulsion of oil, basil and provola cheese serum. Both of them were amazing. Then we had a tomato salad with onions and cucumbers with an emulsion of basil and oil. After that we had our first course, a spaghetti with clams seasoned with an emulsion of parsley and the water from the clams, with a black lemon powder on top. Very tasty! The main course was a cod fillet with a fresh bean salad and dill. The dessert was dice of strawberries and a cocoa crumble with a basil mousse on top. I would recommend this restaurant if you visit Salerno and surroundings!
