Downtown Sushi Spot to Replace the Shuttered Tiger!Tiger! in North Park | Eater San Diego

"After more than 20 years in downtown San Diego, Sushi 2 is packing up and moving to North Park, with owner Kuniko Holmes taking over the space that formerly housed beloved Tiger!Tiger! Tavern and an opening currently slated for Spring/Summer 2022. Tucked next to the Spreckels Theatre on Broadway, the enduringly popular lunch spot struggled when nearly all their customers shifted to working from home—"that part of our operation has not gotten back to anywhere near where it was pre-pandemic (with offices closing and many employees still working remotely)," Sushi 2 posted on Instagram—and with downtown nightlife and tourism still slow the move is meant to bring new momentum. Originally part of the Sushi Deli family, the downtown location was sold to Holmes ten years ago; she kept many menu favorites but also added a selection of craft beer, new appetizers like popcorn Brussels sprouts, and a large range of vegan sushi." - Kelly Bone

Sushi Deli good sushi at reasonable price. Been going here for last 18 years. Recommend.

I like the stateside crazy sushi rolls and this place has a lot of great one to chose from. You order first at the front counter and pay then you grab a seat. A lot of great craft beers on tap and they have a bunch of craft beers in cans in the fridge to chose from too. Really cool place to grab a roll and a beer won’t disappoint.

My wife and I ordered a couple of bento boxes and some drinks while visiting Comic-con Special Edition. We love the flavor, from the chicken teriyaki to the rice and rolls. Service was excellent too. We will come back when in the area. We also like the outdoor dinning option

I grew up in San Diego going to Sushi Deli and could not wait to take my wife here while we were on vacation. First of all, the value is incredible. The price you pay for the amount and quality of food is amazing. We live in Boise, Idaho where sushi is expensive and still mediocre and Sushi Deli was every bit as good as I remember. I hadn't been here in over 10 years and we will be making it a priority every time we're back in town. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

It was a good place with good service. Something happened because the food and the service fell extremely down. It was empty, just a couple of other tables with people and it took more than 30 minutes to get my order. It was a Bomba dynamite that it's not a big nor complicated plate. And it wasn't as good as it was before. The nuggets in the inside probably were unfrozen. I'm not sure but definitely I don't get how it took so much. The place is super dirty and the servers trying to do their job but still a very poor experience. I think this was the last time that I visit this place. I absolutely do not recommend it.

We were craving Japanese food after a day touring the San Diego harbor and Waterfront Park. This was one of the closer restaurants to where we were so we decided to check it out. We ordered the Deluxe Bento and the April Sushi Combo special. The food was all very tasty and the service was good. The only negatives were that the tempura was "chewy" and not crispy and I can see there be long waits to use the restrooms during peak hours. Overall, we enjoyed our meal.

Very slow to sit for no clear reason and made us choose all food and lay before sitting down. Sushi was good but not great. Miso soup and tempura were super tasty. Very cheap prices. Service was friendly but disorganized.

Great atmosphere. Huge selection to choose from. Great food! Awesome service! Huge thanks to Manny on 2 different occasions for being patient and recommending some personal favourites while I was in town this week. Whenever I'm back in San Diego I'll definitely come back again.
