"Sushi Ai is an izakaya on Hillhurst with a textbook-thick menu and shishito peppers that we’d eat by the pound. There’s plenty of room if you’re with a group and want to go all in on beer towers and baked scallop rolls, but it’s also a great place to solo to sit at the bar, and talk to the man making your sushi. Find out what’s freshest that day and just order that with your Sapporo (which is $3 during the daily Happy Hour)." - Brett Keating

Google
My girlfriend and I went to St. Louis for a quick weekend trip and really wanted sushi! I’ve been to st Charles location so we thought we’d give the St. Louis location a chance. It was delicious! Crab Rangoon was perfect & my sushi was amazing as usual!

Google
Great sushi in the heart of downtown St Louis. I highly recommend the all you can eat sushi menu. I had a mix of appetizers and rolls and was impressed with every dish bought out. The St. Louis roll, by far was my favorite. Can't wait to visit again.

Google
Food was good. Except for some dishes. Tuna pizza completel amazing, however tuna tataki was tasteless, no flavor and 4 very thin pieces. it was a waste of money. The worst tataki ive tried. On the other hand, Rolls and sushis were fantastic. Food took very fast to be served. Aprox 7 min. Service was incredible, attentive and responsive always. If it werent for the tuna tataki , would be 5 solid solid stars.

Google
I really enjoyed this sushi restaurant. I tried the Popup and Fried Philadelphia rolls. As an app I had the edamame and gyosa. All of it was flavorful, fresh, and quite filling. I felt the prices were good too. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was well taken care of with a comforting atmosphere. I can't wait to come back to try all the different rolls they have to offer!

Google
Wonderful little place tucked into Olive St. downtown. The Japanese offerings are a little sparse, but they are GOOD. The atmosphere is lively, the service is excellent, the food is great. The sashimi is very good, and all the dishes we tried are fantastic. They have upstairs and downstairs seating, too - it’s a great atmosphere.

Google
Amazing spot 👏! My girlfriend and I were visiting the city from Indianapolis and we found this place before we went to the Cardinals game and we were amazed by the service, the fresh food and the atmosphere! Everything was so tasty and our server was so nice! Will definitely be back when we're in The Lou!

Google
This is a great place! We loved the sushi, very tasty. The price is convenient. The service was good too. The only con is the bathroom. I think people don't realize there is a bigger bathroom upstairs. Also, there are not many tables for more than 5 people.

Google
Cool restaurant in downtown St. Louis. Bonus it was within walking distance of many hotels. Excellent service and friendly staff. The sushi was fantastic! The tempora shrimp was amazing and came with tempura vegetables too. The house salads were great. It was also very affordable. The sushi bar is in the middle of the two story restaurant. They were packed on a Friday at 7 pm but we only had to wait a few minutes while they cleared a table.

Yelp
A colleague brought me here on a work trip in St. Louis and I was impressed by the service, food, and price. For $14, Sushi Ai's All-You-Can-Eat offer extends to the full menu as long as you finish everything. A very fair and efficient method in my opinion. I warmed up with their hot tea and enjoyed various rolls, gyoza, and salmon sushi. The highlight was the Crab Rangoon. Crispy, warm, with perfectly balanced flavor. After several servings, my bill came to $20 which felt like a bargain. This place is tucked away downtown and was well worth the 20-minute walk in the snow. The staff were kind, intuitive, and very helpful. My only regret is that I discovered this place on my last day of the trip, depriving me of multiple visits during my time in STL.

Lillian L.

Yelp
Came on a weekday night and it was pretty popping, but still no issue to get a table! Our waitress was so friendly and welcoming. I did the AYCE dinner and this is definitely one of the better locations + more options! Torched sake roll might just be one of my fav rolls ever, lots of flavor and really filling. And you can't beat the appetizers and a fried Oreo for dessert! For $23.99, I def recommend trying it out! Great place for a meetup and the restaurant was really clean!

Bob P.

Yelp
Grandson picked this place for his birthday dinner. We'd been to their location in Clayton and were glad we gave downtown a try. The service was outstanding, the menu extensive and excellent, and we love the All You Can eat option as it gives everyone the ability to try new things. Love this place!!

Natalie Y.

Yelp
If you are really hungry and want to get your fill of sushi, the all-you-can-eat deal here is hard to beat. The price is reasonable, and the menu has plenty of options. That said, the sushi itself is pretty mediocre. The fish does not taste particularly fresh, and the rolls are just okay--nothing that stands out. If you are looking for high-quality sushi, this is not the place. But if your priority is getting a lot of food for a good price, it does the job. Would I come back? Maybe, but only when quantity matters more than quality.

Mag T.

Yelp
Great place for lunch! Service was top notch very friendly and attentive. So many different lunch combinations you can do. Sushi was great!

Tabitha D.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal! Got sushi rolls, sashimi, soup, appetizers, General Tso chicken box, etc. Loved all of it! My only issue was the service. Our waitress, rushed us at the end of our meal and didn't offer an opportunity to order desserts before bringing out the check. Asked for her assistance with the dessert menu but she seemed bothered so we decided to just end our meal. We will try again but will avoid this waitress.

Gabi Z.

Yelp
I should've known the quality of fish wasn't going to be good when I saw there was all you can eat and this place is in the Midwest. If you don't have high standards for sushi, love grocery store sushi, or have only eaten sushi in the Midwest, then maybe this place is 4 stars. However, I frequently go to California and have been to Japan so my sushi standards are higher. This place is 1 star at best for having a variety of rolls and the prices are cheap. However, quality is very low. For example, the salmon was very fatty and the cut was uneven. The fish has definitely been frozen for a while since it was a bit mushy and the rice is just OK. The tempura veggies are too greasy and the breading had a rancid taste. The place smelled fishy and the interior was a bit run down. The service was fine, but I wouldn't recommend for any sushi lover that cares about quality.

Kelse S.

Yelp
Sushi Ai all you can lunch?! Where have you been all my life? Have I been living under a rock? Apparently, because when a friend texted me and asked me if I wanted to get all you can eat sushi at Sushi Ai for $15 for lunch, I had no idea this was a thing. This location is located on olive, and parking can always be a bit tricky since you're downtown. I got lucky and scored a spot right outside. We had a party of 6 and the service was great. We filled out what we wanted on the table cards- tons of options that you can order for the special. I ordered shrimp tempura roll, veggie roll, and the St. Louis roll. I also ordered gyoza, which was amazing. The rolls came out freshly made and were made beautifully. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, and I was wildly full. I will absolutely come back and try more of their delicious rolls.

Erica D.

Yelp
Today was my first time having Sushi delivered to me at work vs eating it at the restaurant and let me tell you I was impressed! Not only was the food nice and fresh, it tasted like I was eating it there. We ordered online through Doordash so we really didn't get. Too returnee customer service however they did give everything we asked for in the bag!! We had a nice size order and everything in it was accurate. I ordered the California Roll & The Fried St. Louis Roll. Both were amazing. The fried roll was still nice and crispy when it got here. The spicy Mayo was perfectly on ooh t. No complaints about this place!

Simon D.

Yelp
Sushi AI is 100% my go-to spot for lunch. It honestly is the best bang-for-your-buck in St. Louis. Lunch AYCE is 15, and dinner is 25 (if I remember correctly). The dinner AYCE has extra rolls/sushi available, but I always go for lunch and I personally find it has everything I need when craving sushi. Regardless of the price point, the sushi is all very high quality and delicious. I added photos of my personal favorites. The staff is always incredibly welcoming and kind, and the food always comes quickly even though it can be quite busy. I have been coming here for years, and as long as I live in St. Louis, I will continue to. Edit: I forgot to add that my girlfriend is vegetarian, and she ALSO loves this place. There are very creative nigiri/roles available that are vegetarian so she isn't stuck just getting avocado rolls every time. Grace approved!

Angela S.

Yelp
So great! Where else can you get ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI for under $25?!? It's fresh, you can see the fish through the window. They're fast, servers bring it out to you in a jiffy! And menu options are great-- even for those that aren't sushi lovers, they have several vegetarian and chicken dishes. This location is bigger than the other one we tried and we love the restaurant's set up.

Tamara C.

Yelp
I went to this place for lunch on a Friday, pretty busy. There was a twenty minute wait, not too bad. They had great service, very attentive staff. You check off which items you'd like on the paper menu, super easy to order. I enjoyed everything I got. They do have an all you can eat, be careful though you pay extra for whatever you don't eat. The food came out super fast, even during the rush. It was very clean and a nice vibe. I would definitely recommend this place!

Alison O.

Yelp
Stopped here for some takeout during our one night stay. Great service and great sushi!

Corey K.

Yelp
When it's time to devour plates of sushi, the crew always heads to Sushi AI for the all you can eat lunch. The menu includes some appetizer favorites like crab Rangoon and shrimp sumai. I always recommend getting some nigiri pieces like eel and red snapper. The selection of rolls will give more than enough options for the adventurous sushi eaters.

Shannon S.

Yelp
I frequently visit this location. Very friendly staff, simple seating and ordering. Also has upstairs seating. Love the vibe and the art around the room. All-you-can-eat special is my go-to. Def recommend the St Louis roll and the Caterpillar Retro roll. Only gripe would be service at busy times. With upstairs seating, you can feel kind of forgotten about. Theres been many times Ive ordered a couple appetizers on the AYCE menu and never received them.

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Sushi was decent and the ayce menu had pretty good variety. The quality of the sushi was a little subpar but it's not like you expect five star sushi from an all you can eat spot. The price is very reasonable for all that you can get. Anytime I'm feeling really hungry for sushi, this is definitely my go to. The shop itself is a little small so can often fill up quick and lead to wait times, though the food comes out pretty quick.

Jason B.

Yelp
Terrible service Worst sushi of my life came out fast though Wasabi was really really good though 10/10 Would prefer more vegan friendly items Fam Was not LIT

Cyrus A.

Yelp
This one's my fault. I went to a sushi place in downtown St Louis, I should have known better. Was the sushi terrible? No, it was passable. Some of the fish tasted fresh. But most of the rolls were drowned in sauce, so much of my meal tasted like a salt lick as a result. And the squid appetizer/side I got? I didn't expect it to be so literal. It's a plate of chopped up pieces of tough, overcooked squid. Yikes. Service was bad. Sorry, but there's no sugarcoating this one. You're made to feel like you're inconveniencing the staff by existing. I almost felt like I should apologize for daring to come to a restaurant expecting food. Maybe some folks love the all-you-can-eat dinner option, but I didn't come here to gorge myself. I was just hoping for a decent meal, and did not have a good experience.

Rhett C.

Yelp
Do not eat here.....not good. Not fresh. You've been warned. Made the mistake while visiting. Service and ambiance was fine....quality of food was not. It's a questionable decision to eat here.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
I've tried a lot of to go sushi here in STL and this is the best I've had! I will be ordering again! The sexy girl roll was my favorite and it came so speed fast via door dash service.

Erin R.

Yelp
I have ordered sushi from this Sushi Ai WAY too many times to count. While the convenience of Uber Eats is nice, I prefer to dine in to take advantage of the all you can eat prices. The vegetarian sushi options here are some of the best in the St. Louis area. While I often get the avocado, sweet potato, and cucumber roll combo, I sometimes add tofu skin sushi to the mix. The service is consistently quick and friendly. The only downside is that the restaurant facility is not the most beautiful place ever, but it certainly does the job.

Cherie R.

Yelp
Sushi Ai is a GEM. All you can eat sushi options with a huge amount of variety - I come hungry and leave happy every time! There's a roll here for everyone (fried, vegetarian, cooked, raw, even fried Oreos that look like sushi :) !!). I enjoyed 6 rolls, crab Rangoons, gyoza, and fried Oreos. My favorite roll was the jalapeño roll - VERY spicy so watch out. The crab Rangoon was fresh and delicious. My friend got the fried rice because she isn't big on sushi but they've got a large menu where everyone can enjoy. The service was efficient and we weren't waiting for a long period of time before our next orders were coming in. What a blast!

Jessica B.

Yelp
Phenomenal service and excellent food! The sushi rolls are fresh and the menu is wonderful. The staff is always friendly and accommodating! My family LOVES this place.

Thais G.

Yelp
This place was pretty good and reasonably priced. Pretty good sushi. I ordered the rainbow row and the crab Rangoon. Very tasty. Service was good too.

Heer S.

Yelp
Oh goodness i honestly feel a little embarrassed i haven't already been here. I've been to the other location for the AYCE which was a good experience but i really loved this one! Their decorations were subtle but very cute and cozy and I loved that there's a second floor- felt very homey. Sushi was GREAT. Split a Bento box and Paul's roll with a friend so i could try more things. The salmon in the bento bowl was delciouiiuuussss. Service was great, she was very quick with water refills and kindly offered to split our groups check. can't wait to go back

Steve S.

Yelp
I love sushi AI. Usually I visit the Arnold MO location. Was excited about the downtown location when I found it. Food was as usual, great. Love the quaint downtown atmosphere. Staff was very friendly. Sushi was great. Will certainly return.

Calista S.

Yelp
This was our first stop in St. Louis. Sushi was great, I especially loved the one with the steak on top. I enjoyed all of the rolls we had. Miso soup was alright, not my favorite, tasted off to me. I loved the ginger salad dressing, I believe it is house made, very different from any other ginger salad dressing I have had. Service was great, everyone was very nice and quick. The waitress missed one of the rolls we ordered, but we weren't charged so it wasn't a problem, plus the 3 rolls were very filling. The firebowl drink we ordered was perfect for 2, the description implies that it might be a strong drink but it was just right, had great flavor and presentation.

Michelle W.

Yelp
I have ordered takeout from Sushi Ai several times now. I've always gotten the dinner combo, which is such a good value because it comes with 1 appetizer, 3 rolls, and 4 pieces of nigiri! The fish is fresh and all the rolls I've tried so far have been delicious. Generous cuts of fish and huge portion for the price! I've only ever tried the edamame appetizer and it's also great.

Bill W.

Yelp
Really great sushi! The service and staff are outstanding! They have a rewards club and it is a great deal! Sign up for that!

Christine H.

Yelp
Prices are really reasonable, quality is average. I did the nigiri special and found the cucumber in one of the rolls to be a little ripe... I enjoyed the nigiri and had a few bites of my friends bento box which was tasty. Service as attentive and helpful as well.

Taylor M.

Yelp
The food was really yummy but that goes across the board for all Sushi Ai in St. Louis. This was the last one I had been able to visit and can honestly say the food is great at all of the locations. The service was ok, we were there for lunch so there was only one server and it seemed like she was in a rush whenever stopping by out table. It may be different food inner though. The overall look of the place is very fun they have art from different artists in St. Louis I am assuming and as an artist I really appreciated seeing that around me throughout the restaurant.

Vivian M.

Yelp
Definitely recommend the all you can eat sushi!! The food and service are both amazing(: One of my favorite places in St. Louis.

Richard D.

Yelp
Everything was good, with excellent selection and extremely affordable prices. I adore the atmosphere inside, and I had no trouble parking across the street. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The best is Rachel! Their mackerel, salmon, crab, tuna, volcano, honey, and california rolls are my favorites. I also adore their tempura and gyoza. Their sushi was fantastic, and the seafood tasted quite fresh. Excellent and timely service; I'll definitely be back.

Kenny J.

Yelp
I wanted to like it, but the quality just isn't there, like at all. This ain't authentic sushi. If you don't care about food being authentic, then go for it. When you order great sushi for delivery, it does not come with that fake plastic grass. This was a dead giveaway.

Jonah M.

Yelp
Best bang for your buck! Want to get stuffed on sushi? This is the perfect place 25 dollars for all you can eat sushi! They even offer gyoza, edamame, and other amazing appetizers! Although this is not the best sushi in town I will say it's great for the price and the vibes are good in there too!

Shiloh B.

Yelp
I love this place! We always find ourselves coming here when we're really hungry. A great price for as good of sushi as you can get in the Midwest. Our waitress was sweet and we enjoyed sitting up in the balcony. Of course, we will be back :)

Sheyenne H.

Yelp
Fair for a place like St. Louis. The dinner option 2 of $24 for 3 maki rolls, 4 sushi and a starter - is not a bad deal. I tried the St. Louis roll deep-fried option and it cooked the sushi inside. I didn't expect that. I was expecting it to be like friend tempura ice cream where the ice cream inside is still ice cream and not melted. So I'm disappointed about that. But the server was attentive so that's a plus.

Derrick G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this sushi restaurant, they offer an all-you-can-eat sushi menu at lunchtime. The menu had a lot of great sushi items, also it was very affordable. The restaurant was a little busy, but the staff did a good job getting me seated. The staff was very efficient and helpful, and the sushi was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant, if you enjoy sushi.

John L.

Yelp
I did not realize this was an All You Can Eat place when I searched online. But, once I sat down I thought I would give it a try. Overall, meh. The salmon roll was chopped, and I dislike that texture. I wish restraints would describe if the fish is whole or chopped in their rolls. The rice was not at firm as I would like, and it just fell off the nigiri. Service was OK. I guess the AYCE is the appeal. If you want quantity and not quality, this is your place

Zoe R.

Yelp
for ayce sushi, it's super affordable and PLENTY of options. everyone is nice and helpful at explaining the process. They charge .55 cents per piece leftover, which is very reasonable :)

Syl M.

Yelp
Sashimi portion size are amazing! Try the rock'n roll temaki, so good! Make sure you get seated at a booth. Any starter is good.

Fannie H.

Yelp
All you can eat sushi.... Is there anything else to say! The sushi is so good, it's in a great downtown St. Louis location and then there's the Flaming Volcano Bowl! #sharingiscaring

Armen Y.

Yelp
The quality of the sushi was very average but the price was super reasonable. So overall was great for the price that we paid. We got all you can eat choice, definitely pleased.

Gavin B.

Yelp
Went here for lunch today and got the all you can eat sushi lunch special. The price was great at 15 bucks a person, the staff was friendly, atmosphere was adequate and the food was good. I recommend this place in downtown St. Louis.

Katherine W.

Yelp
They were super kind to ask the waiter if he was okay having me sit upstairs since they were so busy. The seating upstairs in kinda janky though. The bench is falling apart, but the view is cute. It was super helpful that they all you can eat had an option to specify number of items if you end up having to take anything to go, which I did. I enjoyed the Saint Louis Roll but the others were okay. The nigiri was great quality though. Melt in my mouth.

Elisabeth L.

Yelp
Fish was not that fresh. Rate it as average. Not sure if we will go back. Went later in the evening. May see if consistency and quality is better at lunch

Michael H.

Yelp
Was looking for a solid spot for food downtown and happened upon Sushi Ai. Really great udon, rolls and nigiri. Super nice people too. Would recommend!

JL S.

Yelp
Pretty good indeed. However, at bar hard to get served. waiters don't know if bar had gotten the order or waitresses. Managers don't do anything.

Isra T.

Yelp
I've been coming to Sushi AI regularly for the past 3 years and have never once had a bad experience. The food is always to die for, and the servers are efficient and kind. The price for all you can eat sushi is AMAZING, and you can't go wrong with any of the rolls! This is the sushi gem of the Midwest.
