Sushi & Wine Sancha Monica

We had the set menu which was brilliant, got to try some typical foods we wouldn’t have normally picked! Staff were so lovely and friendly, they had an English menu which we were grateful for. Also a good price given the quality of the food! Located down some steps in the basement of a multi story building, a little difficult for us to find but were able to with the help of some of the photos on other reviews here.

Very delicious especially considering the price. You’re getting solid sushi, fun varieties and decent wine. Caters to a younger crowd.

I found this place somewhere online and it seemed like a good alternative: modern sushi bar with wine. Went to try it and it definitely was a good place. Luckily arrived without reservation on a Friday evening and they had a spot available, although I'd really recommend to reserve in advance. They have the standard nigiris (which I didn't find expensive at all) along some other small creative dishes and some other izakaya-like ones. It has a small, nice atmosphere and the price was according or even lower to the kind of place. They have a wide drink menu too with their signature cocktails.

Even though it’s a sushi restaurant, the fried food was better 😚 corn fry, aji fish fry, tako fry was the best I’ve ever had. I enjoyed the three layer maguro sushi and raw salmon. We want to try the uni next time. Drink menu had a variety of good stuff. Friendly staff. I really loved the daizu and mascarpone with crackers as a dessert snack at the end. I also ordered with the dessert wine which complimented so well. Atmosphere was nice and casual. Hidden gem.

Food was good and online ordering made everything really easy. Good wine selection. Was able to eat here without a reservation on a Sunday night.
