"If you’re near Great Portland Street—or even if you’re not—you should eat the sushi at this excellent Fitzrovia spot. It’s got what we like to call the holy grail of sushi: high-quality, affordable, and exciting. The sushi and sashimi are solid, and although the toppings can get a little theatrical, it doesn’t take away from the quality. The sushi sets start from £27 for 13 pieces, making it some of the best-value sushi in London, in one of the most informal, laid-back dining rooms." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, jake missing
"London has some pretty nice sushi spots where you don’t have to deep dive into your sofa to fund a dinner. Sushi Atelier does excellent raw fish at a decent price, and it also comes with some exciting twists. Expect your sushi to be topped with anything from foie gras to BBQ sauce to parmesan—things that sound like they wouldn’t work, but actually do brilliantly." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"There’s no lack of set lunch options at this super-popular Fitzrovia sushi spot. A 13-piece salmon set starts at £27, and there are vegetarian and bento options, too. Everything at Sushi Atelier is, at the bare minimum, very good. Whether you go for the Iberico pork teriyaki bowl that comes with refillable miso soup and a salad, or the nine-piece omakase sushi set, you’ll get a high-quality lunch. Plus, the counter is an excellent place to swing by solo and treat yourself." - jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"This laid-back spot in Fitzrovia is that rare London restaurant that not only serves excellent sushi, but shockingly, it’s also reasonably priced given the quality of the fish. On the Sushi Atelier’s menu you’ll find everything from octopus carpaccio, to snow crab sashimi, to yellowtail truffle rolls, but our game plan here is to always go for one of the omakase selections or the sushi sets. Although we’re big fans of sitting up at the counter where the action is, if you’re rolling with a group there’s more seating downstairs." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Sushi isn’t known for its stomach-lining properties, but at Sushi Atelier you can eat a hell of a lot of excellent sushi for an extremely reasonable price. The sushi is topped with stuff like truffle and whiskey jelly and BBQ sauce, which might sound poncy and weird, but it totally works. And it all goes particularly well with a couple of flights of sake, which has been scientifically proven to help groups of friends get the night started properly." - heidi lauth beasley, eileen twum
