One of the best sushi spots I have been to in a while. The service was fast, friendly, and professional. We ordered a variety of items from the menu and every item was delicious. My only regret was that we didn't get desert. If you're in the area and want sushi, this is the place to go.

Google
Never a bad experience here. Friendly staff, you can see the sushi being made behind the counter, seldom a wait. I order sushi.

We came for dinner on a Thursday evening, arriving around 7:25. We were greeted with smiles when we entered. The host offered us seats right away & asked if we wanted a booth or table, we chose a booth. They weren’t super busy, but had a decent crowd. We started with some steamed shrimp gyoza, which were definitely better than a lot I have had. We ordered 5 rolls for the main, all came out within 15 minutes of our order being put in. All of our rolls were so good, the best one in both my & my wife’s opinion was the yum yum roll. I think it’s the crispiness, being that’s it’s flash fried, plus the spicy mayo & eel sauce, it was amazing! Our servers, they team up here, were very nice, super responsive & kept checking on us as we enjoyed our meal. Overall, the entire place was great, I can see why they have been in business for so long & why their reviews are so high, well deserved! If you’re looking for a great sushi spot that has a large variety of rolls, along with ramen & poke, this is your spot! Parking is limited in the front of the restaurant, but there are plenty of parking options in the area

Google
Found our new sushi spot after our last go to closed down. We loved sushi ave ! The staff was friendly and welcoming. The prices are way more than reasonable. The food was fresh and made to order. All in all I would highly recommend if you're looking for sushi they may just be the best around.

Google
This restaurant was pretty good. It definitely did what it needed to do, so I will give them their props. This is a great place to go to for a cute little date, or even just a small outing with friends. They have outdoor seating, which is not my favorite because of the location being that there are many people walking back-and-forth along the strip, so the indoor seating is a nicer option. The food was good and came out in a reasonable amount of time. I would definitely go back!

Google
Flawless. I was the patron in the late 90s but haven't been here in about 15 years. It's as good as I remember. The restaurant is cozy and has little romantic pockets where you could snuggle up to a date. The decor and cleanliness is also exceptional. There is a space for larger groups in the back. The service was also a exceptional. Helen, was a perfect host and made pleasant conversation while not intruding. She had that balance of being welcoming and also grateful that you're here to experience her restaurant. The menu is extensive and, fortunately for me, offered lots of options for my dietary restrictions. I don't need soy sauce, so the chef gave me a ramekin of spicy mayo. I had the Decatur roll, Salmon skin roll and a couple pieces of mackerel. For me, sushi is one of those things that you want to feel like everything has been handled with extra attention to detail, it's all fresh, and you'll never have a problem. That really comes across here. I thought that after 25 years, I had just romanticized how good this place is. It really is exceptional.

Google
Amazing. Got a sashimi box and sashimi salad and they were both great. The staff we really nice too.

Yelp
Sushi Avenue on Ponce never fails! I've been coming here for years and the service and ambiance is welcomed. I love sitting at the chefs table when I visit just to have amazing conversation as they prepare different rolls. If you're going to take the time to visit, make sure you check the hours because they do close and open back up for dinner.

Yelp
Very delicious sushi. A ton of options and very flavorful. A little bit on the pricer side but worth it in my opinion.

Yelp
One of our favorite and go-to spots for Sushi. We love Sushi Avenue and all of the food always tastes incredible! I'd highly recommend this spot for anyone in or near Decatur.

Yelp
Sushi ave is definitely a hidden gem, you see it and go inside and everyone welcomes you with a smile and it's a great experience and the food is equally as amazing. the staff was so nice and the atmosphere is really a vibe

Yelp
Ordered the shrimp tempura and the egg rolls. The egg rolls tasted and look like they were something from the freezer in a grocery store and were extremely disappointing for $5.50. After 2 bites and seeing and tasting them, it was clear that I could not eat them. Management was unresponsive to my request to send them back and to order a sushi roll as a replacement (of course I would pay the difference in price). The shrimp tempura was a huge disappointment. Though the shrimp part of the tempura was nicely cooked, it appeared that they took a long shrimp and cut long pieces off of it to save money and put tons of breading on not only on the sides, but also an extra inch of breading top and of the tempura. It was so much breading that I had to pull a lot of it off just to be able to eat the shrimp. They used to have really good shrimp tempura a number of years ago, I don't know what happened but clearly corners are being cut with cost. And shrimp tempura was $20 so when would hope to get a decent portion of shrimp on each tempura. I'm hoping there will be a way that I can post the photos somewhere here so you can see what I'm referring to. The actual shrimp itself was about the width of the chopstick or in my case just a little more narrow than my baby finger and I'm under 5 feet tall and have very small fingers... Anyway clearly I was very disappointed in my entire meal though the ginger dressing was good but also watered down. The soup that came with my meal wasn't terrible but it had barely had a couple of little scraps of tofu in it and the Miso was also watered down. As far as the ambience goes, that was not bad it's a nice little restaurant physically, and was very busy though Im still trying to figure out why?

Yelp
One of my top spots for sushi because of their very reasonably priced rolls, great service, and cozy interior seating. The couple times I've eaten here there's been a short wait to be seated but totally worth it. The Alaskan roll is my go-to and it always hits the spot. I'll definitely be back soon!!

Stephanie A.

Yelp
This is our go-to neighborhood sushi spot. Good food, family friendly and reasonable prices. Just know that the wait times can be long at peak hours!

Yelp
First things first-- food was great. Delicious, even. The timing (and ambiance) not so much. My family attends Sushi Avenue on Ponce fairly regularly, and have consistently been hit by long waits and awkward seating situations. This time was no different. While there wasn't a wait this time, they gave us the option between sitting in a 1) extremely cramped three table section in which your elbows are quite literally touching the other table or 2) outside. We chose the latter. I don't have an inherent issue with outside, but Sushi Avenue's outside area almost seems like an afterthought. A few haphazardly placed metal chairs and tables make up their outside dining with a dash of greenery put in to simulate coziness. Perhaps the biggest grievance was the speed that the food came out. Our appetizer of Gyoza took nearly 15 minutes to come up, while our entrée (four sushi rolls) took 40. Our server was extremely kind and attentive during the process and apologized profusely for the slowdown ("we have one fast sushi chef and one slow sushi chef-- you guys got the slow one"), but it did slow down our night a good bit. Overall the food and service was great, hence the 3 stars, but the rest was a bit lacking. I'd be happy to go back if the seating situation was better and the food came out at a reasonable time.

Yelp
Hidden sushi gem. Menu options are great, including bento boxes. Sushi is fresh, service is great, perfect place for lunch in a nice neighborhood. No complaints.

Yelp
This your girl Kai Daniell coming back w. Another review. So if you have been following my reviews, I have been in the gym all Spring putting in work! After I burned 1700 calories on the elliptical machine, I was looking forward to a good filling meal. Since I was craving oriental food (my favorite) and have not been to this spot. I decided to try it out. I decided to sit outside on the patio since it was the perfect time of day (5p) and it was so nice out. There was enough chairs and tables outside to sit. I had to go inside to let the host/waitress know I was sitting outside. The waitress was nice and she went over the menu w. Me since it was my first time. Everything on the menu just about had a picture w. A description. All the food looked so yummy. After playing any, many mighty, mo, I finally decided and ordered the Fried Oyster with Rice and Curry. It came with Miso. Soup and Ginger Salad. The wait time was under 15mins. Everything was delicious! 4 out of 5 rating because it took them a lil while to get back to me. People started coming in and I felt like I was forgot about for a minute. She did not come back to fill my glass up w. More water. Not even once. Overall, my first experience wasn't too bad here. At the end, she did ask me how was everything. And we shared small talk before she hurried away to the next table. I will definitely come back to try out other items on the menu and possibly bring a group of friends or a date!

Yelp
The Sushi Avenue group of restaurants are always fantastic. Their fish for sushi are fresh and prepared properly always. The hot green tea is always topped up. The bento boxes and gyoza are good too. Service at this location is fast and efficient. Note: some other locations have slow service issues.
google avatar

Grace L.

Yelp
It's a decent spot if you're craving Japanese food. The tonkatsu and udon were okay, pretty good portion sizes on the noodles for the prices but the flavor overall was just alright. The sashimi was pretty fresh and there was great service.

Yelp
Sushi Avenue was really great! Arrived at 1 pm & we waited about 5 minutes before being seated. Lobby is clean, staff super friendly & sushi was really fresh & tasty!! But... service was very slow & not many tables were full. Took a while to get initial water, then menus we had to ask for & finally drinks came..z then orders taken & food came. Seemed very slow, even for a normal sushi restaurant that takes time to make great sushi. Will be back, absolutely!! Just won't be in a hurry. We recommend!!!!! A little sloppily made, but tasty tasty... don't care about what it looks like.

Connie P.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! We go almost every week and they know us and what we like and how to prepare it. I've seen some negative reviews but I think at other locations, rather than our Decatur one. We try to get there around 5-5:30 before they get busy and that helps a lot! We sit at the sushi bar and chat with the chefs. The fish is great quality - never been disappointed. We get in and out and see the waiting line at the door; hence - early dinner is a good choice if you are game. We don't get anything but sushi and saki; maybe a salad or appetizer, so the cooked options might take longer.

Yelp
It's a pretty summer Wednesday. The restaurant opened at 5, we sat down shortly after 6, and after ordering we were told our food would be up "quickly." After an hour we flagged down our "server" (who hadn't been back to our table at all after dropping off drinks 50 minutes prior) to ask if we might see food soon. She came back and started explaining that the chefs were short staffed and expected backup hadn't arrived but that our food was going to be next up. We almost took that as an answer, but asked her to give us a time estimate. She then came back and said the chef would be STARTING our order in 10 minutes. (Remember, SHE said initially it would be up quickly.) [While we had been waiting, the restaurant filled numerous to-go orders. They have built that into their service model, so sitting customers don't get served.] Then things got really fun. We were starving, so chose to leave and just pay for the alcohol one of us had. Our "server" said we were expressing a "sense of entitlement" with the way we were acting. I told her she was misusing that word, since she is the person who set the expectation of quick service. She then told me I was obviously having a bad day, and that's why I was behaving so poorly. I was having a GREAT day before this. I was out for a family dinner with three generations to celebrate our youngest going off to college. (She wanted sushi, and we made the mistake of trying someplace we hadn't been before.) Finally, the world's worst server told me I had obviously never been to a restaurant before. She really said that. Who says that to someone IN their restaurant? I told her that I've never been in restaurant where the server told me quick service then after 70 minutes told me I was "entitled" for wanting quick service. She said I was "allowed" to leave, but that I wouldn't be welcomed back. I told her I didn't need her permission to leave, and that there was no risk of me ever coming back. As long as this young woman is employed, this restaurant is worth avoiding. She feels she is doing you a big favor letting you waste your evening with no service. One day maybe she'll grow up.

Yelp
Great run of the mill sushi spot. Nothing too fancy but def a step above say a "Rusans". Great for dinner with friends or a casual date night. Their menu is massive and has a big selection of both cooked and raw rolls and sashimi. I was pregnant so got cooked rolls but our friends got a whole sashimi plate which they had nothing but good things to say about. During COVID seating is sparse and only a few indoor and sushi bar seats with some outdoor seats too. Would def come back here.

Yelp
The crunchy salmon roll and veggie gyozas were pretty good. Sat at the bar, nice ambiance.

Yelp
Would of given it a 4. But I ordered off the order sheet the spicy California which said it was cooked but it wasn't. Pregnant can't eat raw fish currently. So everything I ordered had to be cooked. Sushi were bland had to ask for eel sauce and drizzle it over the sushi ourselves. Service was cool very nice servers space is very small and intimate no loud conversations or talks.

Yelp
As the first sushi offering in Decatur that has now spread to two locations in less than a mile radius, Sushi Avenue is a consistent local favorite. My favorite rolls that are typically fresh are the rainbow and clairmont rolls. The beef udon is simple and delicious, I've never been disappointed by it. This location has a small area for eating outside, though I'd recommend takeout before that as the seating is backed right up to the car street parking and doesn't offer much room for the sidewalk traffic. The inside is quaint and offers a couple varieties of seating at tables, booths and the sushi bar. The phone service is spotty-- as in they sometimes often won't pick up, though I always just assume they are too busy to accommodate additional orders. Online orders aren't an option, but I like this old school touch as IMO it leaves fewer opportunities for mistakes. **I always rate sushi restaurants keeping in mind their distance to the ocean, so while I've given Sushi Avenue 4 stars for an Atlanta sushi spot, if it had the same quality but was in my coastal hometown I'd give it 3 stars.**

Yelp
A very eh spot for sushi, should have figure with the name. We wanted to go to this French restaurant nearby but it was closed, so we figured we'd get some sushi. We ordered the seaweed salad, the miso soup, the agadashi tofu, the yellowtail poke bowl with rice and two rolls - the crispy salmon roll and an albacore roll. The seaweed salad was ok - didn't taste super fresh but was decent. Miso soup was good, and the agadashi tofu was probably the best thing we ate. The rolls and yellowtail bowl were okay but the fish was not fresh. The yellowtail especially, was actually pretty fishy, we didn't even finish it. Staff was nice but this felt very touristy. Not a fan, will not be back on the avenue...

Yelp
This place has consistently good sushi. Favorite rolls (all gluten free): Bagel Roll, Clairmont Roll, White Roll. If they run out of parking in the small lot just outside the restaurant, there is metered parking across the street, on the other side of Ponce by the AT&T store.
google avatar

Yelp
Has always been a favorite for our family! Super fresh, generous pieces of fish and a great selection of rolls. See you there.

Yelp
As a vegetarian, finding well done vegetarian sushi can sometimes be a challenge. Sushi Avenue really delivered and I enjoyed sampling their many vegetarian spins on sushi bar classics on my recent takeout order there. I ordered by phone and picked up in person, which was a breeze, and gave me the opportunity to see their cute interior and exterior fine-in seating, located in a quiet shopping center just off Ponce. My order consisted of an unusual but delicious avocado tofu salad, crispy agedashi tofu, and a couple of great vegetarian rolls. I look forward to coming back when the mood strikes again.

Yelp
This review is for Sushi Avenue's unwelcoming reception since we were so discouraged by the hostess and waitress that we left before sitting down to eat. Eight of us (4 adults and 4 kids) came in at lunchtime on a Saturday. That's a lot of people - I get it. But we were made to feel that we should have known better than to come in without a reservation. The waitress told us, scoldingly, that "this time" she would figure out a table for us, but next time, we would need a reservation. This review could have gone so differently if the same lady had just said, "I'm so sorry but unfortunately we don't have the capacity for a large group right now. But here's some options so we can accommodate you." A little hospitality could have made all the difference.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Nothing special. The sushi here is very mediocre but downtown Decatur is a cool area to work around and find other food spots.

Yelp
Firstly, I have to say that SOME of the staff was quite helpful, however after spending more than $70 on food and then adding a tip for take out, I asked the staff if they could help me double check that my order was complete as I had some missing items the previous time I placed an order. I was subsequently met with a rude attitude from one of the senior staff members as if that could never happen and that I was questioning their integrity. Meanwhile, I understand that mistakes happen but I did not want to leave yet again without items that I paid for. When one of the junior staff members kindly finished checking the order I politely asked for some sauce on the side and the junior staff member quickly obliged. Then the previous senior staff member quickly rushed up and rudely said that I'm not getting any sauce without paying more money. It was as if his goal was to make my take out experience as difficult and miserable as possible. Well, he succeeded! And guess what, even after checking, when I opened up the food containers we were missing some salmon nigiri that I ordered and we were missing a dumpling as well. Honestly not the end of the world but the manager attitude and rudeness was over the top especially when they messed up again! We usually have a good experience but this trip was not it!

Yelp
We have been visiting Sushi Avenue for decades. It had been a few years since we visited here and it did not disappoint! This place is soooo great! They have seating outside, a dining room and a sushi bar. We opted for an inside table. The staff is very attentive and tag team so you receive everything promptly. They have a good Japanese beer selection. I ordered an Asahi Light and my daughter ordered a bottled Sapporo. The ginger dressing on the house salad is amazing. They actually sell it by the bottle. How nice! They have a great selection of vegetarian sushi. We ordered an avocado & cucumber roll and a pumpkin & sweet potato tempura roll. They were both so amazing. The tempura roll was served warm, absolutely yummy. If you love sushi you have to try this place. It's so fabulous! Side note... the bathroom was very clean and they have toilet seat covers.

Yelp
Terrible service. AND the staff looked me in the eye and told me with a straight face that something was a VEGETABLE when it was CHICKEN. Vegetarians beware! They were extremely slow to greet me and anyone else that came into the restaurant. Instead of putting people on a list, they just told them to sit and wait, without any concern for who came in first etc. They were hesitant to seat people outside, and would give this weird disclaimer that Service would be slow if anyone wanted to sit outside. The weather was beautiful and the temperature was perfect, so of course people wanted to sit outside. And staff was very weird about it. I ended up placing to go because it just seemed like a better option. They told me it would take a LONG time for food to come out, discouraging me to order. I told them I was okay with that, fine with waiting. The food came out SO fast. Which was good of course! But I don't understand why they were discouraging me to order. And the menu was a little confusing probably just because I think I also just felt a little overwhelmed because I felt like I was being rushed. I misunderstood how one menu item worked and instead of the staff being kind while explaining, I was laughed at in the explanation. Also where they take your order versus where you're supposed to stand and put your credit card in a pretty far apart. So it was awkward and I had to speak quite loudly in a crowded restaurant - louder than seems polite. It made me very uncomfortable. Heads up about the bento box: not a good value and definitely not worth it if you don't order a teriyaki as one of the two. And on that note, the teriyaki salmon I got was overcooked, dry and a tiny portion. I thought I could add extra items to the box (for a charge of course) and that's what I was laughed at for. How dare I want to spend more money and order more things there, right?! A young man with curly hair kindly explained it was best to just order those items separately. And that would have been absolutely fine if one of the women there hadn't already treated me like I was an idiot for my confusion. Staff seemed to be very all over the place, and so I made sure to check my food before I left. I asked what an item was that I did not recognize. They weren't even to really explain what it was. They were only really able to tell me that it was something with shrimp, shrimp wrapped some thing. And they acted like it was some huge imposition to be asked. When I ended up tasting it I'd don't know what it was so I didn't finish it. I politely told them my miso soup was missing. They let me know that was not included in the bento to go as if I should have somehow known that. I shared that it would be a good idea to put that on the menu since I did not know that and the response I got was an eye roll. Lots of attitude and I do not understand why. I also asked about my tempura, because it looked like it was only shrimp. But the menu says shrimp and vegetable, which is what I expected and wanted. ******They pointed to one little piece under all the shrimp and said that is vegetable. No. It was not. It was chicken!****** I did NOT order any meat since I'm eating as a pescatarian right now. Everything I asked for was seafood or veggie. It's completely irresponsible to tell a customer something is vegetable when it is meat. Completely unacceptable and I would give 0 stars for this if I could. Especially because I asked where the veggies were and they specifically told me the chicken was a vegetable! I thought it was a piece of potato. Again, the young man with curly hair who was nice about everything. But everyone else there treated me with contempt and was very unkind - a woman, a very young woman, and a man that were there and in and out of the entry area. They were not welcoming or warm to anyone else who came in while I was there either. One customer even made a comment to his group within their earshot as he went outside to the table that they should prep themselves to deal with slow service. The staff really do not seem happy to have people in or spending money at the restaurant. And I have to say: I've been to other locations of this restaurant before, and I've enjoyed the food. The service has been absolutely normal and fine. But this was just terrible. Other items: The sushi sampler appetizer was bad. It was very overly fishy for sushi which makes me worry about the freshness . I did not finish it. And I really hopes the couple of tastes I took don't make me sick. I also ordered the super veggie roll. That was quite good and as expected. Between ordering a bento, sushi roll, and appetizer, it's so disappointing that only the sushi roll was what I expected. Combining that with terrible service and LYING to me about something being a veggie when it was meat - and I wish I could give zero status. What a waste of time and money.

Yelp
I love sushi avenue. It is my hubby's and my favorite date spot to relax and enjoy eating delicious food. Do quaint and private space with great hard working staff. The most shocking experience we have had was tonight while we were eating, a guy came with a bag asking for money. He said "I am diabetic and just got out of the hospital, can you spate me some change?" I was so puzzled. I was a little startled to be honest. I tried laughing about it, but it left a weird taste.

Yelp
So I typically visit the sushi Avenue on the Square. It was my birthday and I didn't want to go into the Square so I try to get takeout from this sushi ave location instead. I normally get the veggie tempura roll and I've never Asked them to put soy paper on it. The picture doesn't look like there seaweed on it. however, when I went to this location, I ordered my sushi and I drove home as usual and when I get to home which is 25 minutes away there seaweed on my veggie tempura roll. I called the restaurant and ask and she immediately tells me no, and just hangs up. I am obsessed with their sushi, but this was just bad service.

Yelp
I was not at all impressed with this place. The food was really bland and the portion were extremley small. Also, they don't allow you to substitute sides, not even with an up- charge. After I finished my meal I was kinda glad I didn't spend the extra money lol. I ordered the Bento Box; the items I ordered for my box were the teriyaki salmon and the california sushi roll, and it comes with miso soup, salad and rice. The salmon looked like it weight 1/2 lb and it was overcooked. The california roll tasted like a california roll but it didn't taste like it was freshly made.

Yelp
Our go-to bento lunch restaurant ! Very consistent food quality and service . Nothing fancy but definitely good value for money Japanese meals. Japanese owners here serve customers when staff are busy so that explains my star rating! It's small local business like this I would continue to support ! Thank you Sushi Avenue on Ponce !

Yelp
Got rolls for take out and was pretty happy with the food. We got the shrimp tempura roll, crunch eel roll, Decatur roll, Ponce de Leon roll, and Emory roll. We liked the shrimp tempura, crunchy eel and Ponce de Leon rolls mainly because we like crunch rolls. The Decatur roll has a variety of sushi in there and I thought the fish was pretty fresh. It is also one of the few rolls that come with masago on it. The Emory roll is not bad but not as good as the Ponce roll. Would recommend this place for its rolls!

Yelp
The hostess was rude, arrogant and tried to belittle me when I went to pick up a takeout order. She didn't listen when I said I was picking up an order and immediately told me that there was a 45 minute wait. She proceeded to seat people and told me that I had to wait until she was finished before she could help me. I asked if anyone else could get my order she said wait until I come back! Exasperated, I called her a name. She said" what did you say?' I told her "you heard me" . She then told me that unless I apologized that I couldn't get my order!!!??? I told her loudly that wasn't going to happen!! I went to the table and found my order. Finally someone came over, processed the payment for my order and thanked me. I have never gotten takeout from a restaurant that had a pickup procedure such as this and an employee as hostess who had absolutely NO customer service skills. Only 3 stars because the experience made me enjoy the food less than usual. I will admit that this is the first time that this has happened here.

Yelp
My favorite sushi place in Atlanta. Kind waiters and great service. Food is so incredibly affordable and the menu selection is huge! Outdoor seating has such a nice ambiance and feels very warm and homey inside too! Perfect place to go on a date too!

Yelp
I have been coming here for twenty years and I have never been disappointed. The Japanese food is authentic, the prices are reasonable, and the servers are friendly and respectful. All the staff are wearing masks and they are maintaining social distancing with spacing out customers at the tables. My kids are big fans and enjoys the miso soup, edamame, udong noodle, and teriyaki chicken. My husband and I enjoy the sushi rolls. Sometimes the parking can be full, but there is free parking down Ponce place where the parking lots for businesses that close at 5 pm are available for free (some utility service).

Yelp
This was our first visit to Sushi Avenue. We were impressed. One tip: the Ponce location doesn't open until 5:00 even though it's listed as noon in here. We went at 5:00 and sat at the bar to watch all the action. It's not a high bar mind you, just regular table & chair height. Feel free to talk to the preparers. The gentleman working in front of us said he has been preparing sushi for almost 20 years. We started with pork Gyoza (potstickers) and the were great! Perfect consistently, hot and tasty. We got a Nigiri combo platter so we could try several things. (Photo taken) It had 10 pieces plus 8 California Rolls and included the standard ginger pieces & wasabi. It also included one salad & one Miso soup. Everything was super fresh. My wife said it was the best tuna she has had. She actually got 2 more of them before we left! The eel was actually cooked and done in teriyaki glaze. It was delicious. The meal: The Gyoza appetizer, the Nigiri combo platter, two additional tuna nigiri & 2 sodas. Total time: 1 hour (we ate slow), appetizer arrived within 10 minutes, combo plate 5 minutes later) Cost: $34 + Tip We will definitely go back!

Yelp
What a disappointment. Four of us, all sushi lovers, met for a meal in person for the first time in almost 2 years. Got a table out front, right by the door when they opened. Our server was bubbly and friendly, and took our drink orders to start; they didn't have most of the beer (or wine) on the menu available. She came back, maybe 15 minutes later and we ordered. Another 15 minutes or so and we had some of our food. This started well, it was all hot, fresh and surprisingly good. Around 30 minutes later and we all were out of water, tea etc. and didn't have the rest of the food. The brought food for 2 of us, but the other 2, nothing. 30 minutes goes by, and our server comes back and said that the ticket we wrote our sushi order on, had been lost. She asked if we could order again. We filled out another ticket, and 30- 45 minutes goes by without our sushi. The place wasn't busy, and it was a simple order, nothing fancy or complicated. Eventually it arrives. Much of the fish had an off putting fishy smell, that fresh fish doesn't have. Regardless, I was starving, and began to eat. It wasn't cold, it was at best, room temperature. The fish had a disinfectant flavor. A chemical taste. We were done. We stopped eating, paid the check and left. The meal took over 2 hours, and we ended up finishing dinner across town. Very very disappointed.

Yelp
Wish I could give this place 0.5 stars. Showed up to order food 35 minutes before they closed. Was told the kitchen closed 30 minutes before close, and they would not serve us. After a complaint was made to the gentleman that told us no, he followed us out down the sidewalk and told us how we should treat people better and not complain about store hours. How unprofessional is that? If they would have served us when we showed up, there would have been no issue. But they wanted an easy night and told us no. The attitude of the servers and leadership of this location on a Friday night show that they do not want or deserve our money. NEVER AGAIN.

Yelp
Sushi Ave on Ponce offers good sushi at decent prices. You'll be able to find better sushi in downtown Atlanta, but it'll certainly be more expensive. My go to order here is the steamed pork gyoza, tuna roll, and the spicy salmon crunch roll. I've yet to be truly disappointed in any of the items I've ordered here. My only complaints are that they've forgotten my coke in a few to go orders and they've also gave me a poorly made tuna roll, but I chalk that up to a new chef.

Yelp
I absolutely love sushi Avenue, it was the very first place I had sushi in 2005 when I was 15. I still adore it to this day, delicious and Japanese made. The lead chef is extremely knowledgeable, and the sushi is affordable but still tastes amazing and very fresh. Come here for a slice of authentic Japanese culture and cuisine. One of the oldest and best in Atlanta!

Yelp
I really loved the sushi in this place and the prices were fine. The dumplings was amazing as well!

Yelp
It is 9:22 pm on a Wednesday and both of your locations are not open. This is extremely unfair to the costumer, specially this late at night. Update your website.

Yelp
The food is good, but the service is disappointing. The restaurant is supposed to be open until 2:30 PM on weekends, but they turn you away at 2:10. How about just changing your weekend lunch hour to end at 2 PM. The posted hours apparently mean nothing!

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Atlanta. I eat here at least once a week. The spicy crunchy tuna and salmon rolls are amazing. All of the food is great.

Yelp
The sushi was pretty good. Close to where we were staying. We ordered 6 or 7 rolls and a few apps that were nice and fresh and reasonably priced. Service was not bad either. I'd go back.

Yelp
Sushi Avenue is tiny sushi place in a small strip mall. It wasn't bad per say, but I wouldn't go back. I think have a pretty low threshold for cheap sushi but this wasn't nearly cheap enough for the quality. Staff was nice even though service was slow (waiting for our checks after we ate, water refills, etc.). The menu had enough items, but the rolls aren't particularly creative or diverse. The list of sushi rolls was done in pictures that had little diagrams and labeled the ingredients rather than the roll name and a list of ingredients. This was somewhat odd, but not a problem. I ordered the Decatur Roll and the Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll. The fish wasn't very fresh, but was fine when combined in a roll. I wouldn't get sashimi here; I pulled a piece of tuna off of the top of a friend's roll and it left a terrible taste in my mouth. The rolls were at least half made of rice. I slimmed down the pieces by pulling off some of the rice and ended up with a half-plate pile of sushi rice at the end, which is absurd. The group I was with ate without a problem, but no one was raving. Atlanta is desperate for some quality, fast, cheap sushi restaurants.

Yelp
This place is an amazingly good value with quality fish and delicious appetizers. Try the shrimp shumai or tofu steak.
